Cannnot connect to iTunes store - just started happening

Had the phone over two years and this has never happened before. Tried to download updates for purchased apps and got the message "Cannot make network connection to iTunes Store - connection timed out". Tried both fromn the phone itself (WiFi) and from the iTunes app on the Win7 laptop (WifFi). Never a problem before.

I'm having the same issue. I'm unable to download apps on my iPhone, iPad, or iTunes, none seem to be able to connect to the store for the purpose of purchasing or downloading apps.

  • My devices iphone, ipad and itouch Cannot connect to itunes store?

My iphone, ipad and itouch are not able to get into itunes store.  It says cannot connect to itunes store.

This started happening when I had to change my apple user id to an email address.  This is what has been causing problems with others.  I called apple tech support & received help fixing it before, but it didn't permanently correct the problems.  I had to go through all these steps that took over 45 minutes.  Can't remember the steps so  I will be on the phone with them again to try & resolve

Katrina, yes those are the instructions I used. I just executed the steps outlined three additional times (meticulously) and the issue I have is, at step 14, after restart, I do not receive the "Windows has blocked startup programs" message... System starts "normally", when I attempt to run iTunes I am informed that iTunes needs to repair software required to communicate with iPods and iPhones... Whether I choose to allow iTunes to restore these services or not, the outcome remains the same, "connection timed out" at iTunes store. Cannot download podcasts, cannot access internet through Quicktime either... Other than that Firefox works just fine.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes store, longstanding issue

I have not been able to connect to the iTunes store for quite some time now, at least 5 months. It hasn't really mattered to me since I haven't needed to purchase or rip anything for a while, but in light of christmas, now I do!
Everything in iTunes works fine, my internet is normal, I just cannot connect to the store. I also have zune software on my computer and I have not been able to connect to the marketplace for the same amount of time. i suppose that because both of these issues are arising and i have fine internet connection, iTunes is likely not the issue, and my computer probably is. This being said, and though I have tried to find the solution to this issue elsewhere on the internet for a bit now, I still can't figure it out.
tl;dr: can't connect to itunes store, it's happened for a while, internet is fine, so what's wrong?

This problem is related to having your computer, Apple device, etc
(from your current physical location) being unable to resolve/connect to
the following site/domain names and their related IP address(s).
The following table is presented to help explain/clarify this issue:
    Site/Domain name | IP Address
    phobos.apple.com | 17.250.237.43
    deimos3.apple.com | 206.169.246.144
    albert.apple.com | 17.149.240.64
    gs.apple.com | 17.151.36.30
    itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.171
    ax.itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.139
If ANY of these sites/IP address are unresolvable (via PING for example)
then the ability/usability of Apple's iTunes (and the Store) will suffer.
To have yourself verify that (if) you can connect to these sites, you'll
need to open up a MSDOS/Command prompt window
and then type "ping" (without the quotes) and one of the (above) listed sites.
For example you would type the following at your command prompt:
ping phobos.apple.com (then press the return/enter key)
which (should) give you results like this:
pinging phobos.apple.com.akadns.net http://17.250.237.43 with 32 bytes of data:
Note: Anyt response other than "reply" (like Request timed out)
indicates a problem resolving the site's name to an IP address
and (generally) has NOTHING to do with your (normally functioning) computer
as this is dependent on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are
using to connect to the Internet (like Sprint, Insightbb, etc) with.
The 'key' here is that it's the ISP's responsibility to (properly) resolve
the site's name to (one or more of) Apple's sites.
If (however) Apple (itself) is (currently) experiencing a DDOS attack
(Distributed Denial Of Service) upon one (or more) of it's sites, then THAT
would explain a possible cause of the problem.
However I stress THAT is NOT the problem since I can connect from my Insightbb
(ISP provider) at home but (currently) can not connect at work via their ISP.
This is (also) WHY the "tag" of the FQDNSN (Fully-Qualified DNS Name)
is listed as http://akadns.net since that is the ISP/Router resolving the DNS name!
I hope that this has helped shed some light as to WHo's problem this REALLY is,
and will help to stop the Apple-User 'finger-pointing' game in it's tracks!

  • "Cannot Connect to iTunes store" from phone.

Weird problem:  For some reason I cannot download new Apps to my iPhone 4s from the phone.  I can update existing apps fine, and I can search for new apps fine, but if I want to install a new App from the iTunes store on the phone itself, I always get a message: "Cannot connect to itunes store".  It happens on WiFi, on 3g, on Edge... I've restarted the phone and reinstalled the software from scratch.
It's not an issue I've had before, on my 3gs.  Any ideas?  It's an annoying issue to say the least....

I believe for apps you use the app store.
The itunes store is to download music/shows/video is that what your trying to download.

  • After OS4 upgrade cannot connect to iTunes Store???

    Hey guys,
I upgraded my 3GS software to OS4 and since then I am unable to connect to the itunes store from my phone. I can connect to the internet using Safari and i can access the store when I connect my phone to my laptop. But when i try to connect to itunes store just from my phone through wireless, it just says "Cannot connect to itunes store".
My internet connection/Wifi is super, there are no problems there.
Pls help me out with this glitch. Its annoying!
    Thanks a ton!

I think this might have something to do with using 2 iPhones on 1 computer. My boyfriend and I each bought an iPhone 4 yesterday - mine works fine (I was the first to connect to iTunes). My boyfriend connected his to iTunes after me, then when he disconnected from the computer and tried to access the iTunes store through wifi it came up with the "cannot connect to iTunes store" message on his iPhone.
I created a new user on our laptop and downloaded iTunes again. I connected my boyfriend's iPhone and restored to factory settings and this seemed to do the trick!!!! Hope this helps!

  • HT204266 I keep getting the message 'cannot connect to iTunes Store' even though I have full wifi?

Can only update apps when I connect via PC, this was working up to about 2 weeks ago.
I have been out foreign since last time I updated apps via iPhone and wifi.

Ahhhhhhh I am go glad I am not the only one having this problem!! It started 2 weeks ago when I changed my Apple ID because it used to be my college email address (which is about to expire because I graduated) and I had to change my ID to another email address. When I did that, the whole "Cannot connect to itunes store" issue started whenever I try to update my apps either on my iphone (Update All) OR on my PC in itunes.
I now have 21 apps that need updating. This is driving me nuts. I have literally tried everything. Finally the Apple support guy I had been emailing back and forth told me to make an appointment with a hotline but I am pretty sure that costs money.....?
HELPPPPPPP! I want updates for my apps dang it!

  • HT1751 Hi, I tried to restore my itunes library from an external drive and did everything that's written here step by step.when I chose the itunes library to import itunes just said that its accessing the itunes store but nothung happened. I'm working on

Hi, I tried to restore my itunes library from an external drive and did everything that's written here step by step. when I chose the itunes library to import itunes just said that its accessing the itunes store but nothing happened. Does anyone know how to do this so that all my playlists are also imported and not just the music itself?

When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
