Canno drag and drop, copy or paste, adobe crash!!

Hi. I got a Mac Book Pro Intel Core 2 10.5.8 from this morning i cannot drag and drop any files, I cannot copy or paste anything, anywhere. I've tried to fix permission, and disk but everything was worthless, any idea?

Drag and Drop/Copy-Paste Error! Help!

My good old mac seems to finally have began its death throes. I've never had a real problem with the machine until this point.
The most noticeable part of the issue is my inability to drag and drop anything. On top of that I can't copy and paste, and can't send files via Instant Messenger or anything like that. I can attach files to e-mail for some strange reason.
Another strange system is the pixellation of the icons in my dock. For some strange reason the shortcut icons in my dock for random apps become pixellated, again, randomly.
I just finished a disk repair with Disk Utility and am about to restart. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, have you tried resetting the launch services to see if that fixes your icon problem?

Otherwise, it may be a sign of a dying video card, or heat buildup.

Drag and drop copy can skip some files

I just got a new iMac with 10.5. I hooked up an external drive (USB) with a copy of my old G4 10.4 drive.
I have found that if I drag and drop a folder with many files inside to the new machine, most but not all of them get copied. For instance I dragged over my Corel drawer inside my documents drawer into my new machines documents drawer. Well it skipped about 30+ files out of about 500. It skipped one sub folder and other loose files. Once I figured out which files and folders it missed I was able to drag those over again and it worked.
This is really bad when you are dragging lots of files and trusting it to do them all. No errors or warnings popped up either. I initially noticed it because I was looking for a particular file that did not get copied, then I looked and saw that the # of files in the drawers was different from the original. Had to put old and new side by side to figure out what was missing.
Anybody heard of this or have a similar problem? Or better yet a solution?

I am having the same problem. I just bought a USB Hard-drive and was copying a 2.7 M folder from one HD to the USB and it leaves out like 15 files. I tried copying to the desktop and it does the same thing. I can open the folder, cmd-A, cmd-c, then paste and it took all the files. Very strange.

Cannot drag-and-drop copy a section in thumbnail view in new Pages?

Just like in PREVIEW of a multi-page PDF, I used to be able to press OPTION+LEFT CLICK then drag that section down to copy it. Now that feature seems to be gone? I hope this is an error!
This is a very helpful feature I hope you bring back or perhaps tell me the new way to do this!? For documents with extensive, complex content (text, graphics, photos) I made lots of sections. This way I could drag and drop copies of things I wanted to re-use.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

ITunes not drag and dropping/ copying music to iTunes on my mac or ipod

I've been drag and dropping for years - that's what Macs are for.
However, now I'm trying to repopulate my ipod with music from an external HD, it gives the errors warning or says the music's not there.
I look at the HD in the finder - and of course it is.
I use my ipod for teaching, so this is pretty important.
Any ideas?

Hm. It's worse than that - even right clicking and trying to import by opening the mp3 with iTunes doesn't work. The files 'import' but then get the alert exclamation point next to them.
Also, iTunes isn't turning from background grey to it's colours as I try and drag n drop, FWIW.

Table Drag and Drop/Copy-paste

Hi all
I use dreamweaver CS 5.5 on a macmini.
I'm pretty new to the whole dreamweaver-stuff and use it mainly for converting websites into html. I normally do that via copy-paste:
Copy text from website - paste in dreamweaver preview - edit in dreamweaver code-view
Now there's one big problem: If I copy a Table, it doesnt paste it, at all. It pastes just nothing.
If I drag'n'drop it, it will only paste the data in the cells, no tab, resulting in a huge test without any format in it and useless to me.
Is this a known problem? What can I do about it?

Unable to drag and drop, copy and paste

Hi Denny, it sounds like LaunchServices. You can download OnyX and use it to reset LaunchServices, or do it manually, by quitting any open apps then
navigate to /library/caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxxx.csstore. You may have more than one with different negative numbers. Delete all of these.
Then navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences/com.apple.launchservices.plist and delete this also.
Then log out and back in. Or restart. Let us know.

Can't drag and drop Quicktime files into Adobe Media Encoder CS6

For some reason I can't drag Quicktime wrapped files into Media Encoder. I get this error message:
"The file [FILE PATH] could not be imported. Could not read from source. Please check the setting and try again."
I have the latest version of Quicktime installed on my system and the problem files open in QT Player without issue. Has anyone encountered this before or know of a quick fix?
I'm running CS6 on a Windows 7 64 bit system.

What's the path to the file? Is it on an external drive? A network drive? A mapped drive? Can you try copying the file to your desktop and dragging it from there?
It's on an external e-sata drive. No problem accessing the file from within Premiere. Just can't drop it into Encoder. Doesn't work if I drag to desktop and try from there either.

Yep, tried that. No luck. Double clicking and adding didn't work either.
Definitely only seems to be QT files. Have tried H264 files from 7D camera and ProRes files. No luck. Files that are MP4 work fine.

Drag and drop Copying from C: to a USB storage device

I have saved some songs from my Cloud storage to my C: drive. How do I highlight those files and drag / drop them into a USB storage device for future use?

The flash drive should show in the "Computer" view ( on WinXP is was called "My Computer" ) similar to a drive. Just double click on the flash drive and then paste the songs.
DRM - Digital Rights Management- It prevents moving songs from being moved around between devices.

is it possible to use Drag and Drop functionality together with Adobe Interactive forms in Web Dynpro ABAP? I consider dragging object (like texts) to interactive form placed in Web Dynpro.

I think I understand but just to make it clear. I use texts created using function module "SAVE_TEXT". In my Web Dynpro I select one or more of them and use the button "insert text" (with appropriate functionality behind it) to insert them to specified location in my PDF form opened in this Web Dynpro. Considering what you said it is not possible to replace this "insert text" button by drag and drop functionality. Am I correct?

i imagine for your problem, you want the final example, and instead of passing across an integer value, you want to pass across the image source.

How do I execute a Drag-and-Drop restore onto a new HD

Ok, so...
While I was backing up my HD with Time Capsule the other day, it started to fail (yes, irony abounds).
So, I have a great repair shop trying to recover my data and I did get a new HD and clean install of Lion (what I was using before the failure), but I don't have a complete Time Capsule backup.
What I do have is an older drag-and-drop copy of my User folder and almost all of my apps, but I am not sure in what order to do the following and if I am missing any steps:
1. Run Software Update
2. Drag my old User Folder over (and if I should so this as one big drop or piece by piece).
3. Update Apps
Is there something I am missing?

Desktop drag and drop icon for my "other" computer

i really need an icon for my MacBookPro desktop to reside on my Mac Pro desktop (and vice versa) so that I can just drag and drop copy (or move) data from one volume to another. sort of like what I have with my dropbox icon in the sense that I can just keep this on my desktop and in the View Pane of Finder and drag and drop items or open the volume etc.
is this possible and i am just not getting it to work because i don't have things set to mount automatically or is there a restriction that does not allow this that I don't understand?
i am on snow leopard and the connection is via wi, but I could plug in via ethernet when i know i will need to do this sort of moving of data a lot.

Drag and drop doesn't work after upgrading to Yosemite

It is strange. Since upgrading yesterday to Yosemite, my drag and drop does not working consistently. I use drag and drop all of the time, into emails, moving files from one folder to another, moving music from finder to itunes, etc. It seems each time I try to drag a file, initially the Finder window I am dragging from crashes and re-starts. Once it re-starts, I actually am able to move a file as normal for about a minute or two. After a minute or two, if I try to drag and drop a file, again it crashes and re-opens.
Does anyone have any ideas? I did submit a bug notice to Apple, but thought maybe someone would have a fix.

After upgrading my iMac to Yos, I could only select and copy files to relocate them. Frustrating for a couple of days. I eventually found that the setting on my trackpad was for three fingers over a selected file/folder window/etc moved the item to where I wanted. It had automatically changed to this preference. Its called a 'three finger drag'. The video shows a pane being moved but it also applies to all files etc. It can found in preferences/trackpad/point & click. Here you can turn it off if that is hat is causing the issue. Otherwise no software solutions I'm aware of. Good luck.

I want to take a voice memo off my iPhone, turn it into and .mp3, and email it. My iPhone shows up under "Devices" in my iTunes but doesn't allow me to move the voice memo files I see sitting there into my Library no matter how much copying and pasting or dragging and dropping I try to do.
Also, I need to convert the file to an .mp3.
How come no voice memo files show up when I go into my iPhone via My Computer? All it shows are the videos and pictures in the DCIM folder, but not the voice memos. Is there another way to access the voice memos other than through iTunes?

Email it to yourself, then save the file and then see if you can convert it to MP3.
