Canno Interact with other machines

When I try to send a message to a remote computer,chat, try to drag and drop a file, or share a screen, etc.. a message is returned"A username or password has not been set for “MU1”.
I can control or observe machines.
What am I missing?

In ARD it is possible to setup exactly what ARD admin. users can and cannot do. I would check the preferences to see if you have full access to it's features or only a limited set.....

However, I get a message "unable to connect to remote host".
Can anyone please tell me is this the problem because of different OS or it is something different!

The machine you're trying to connect to needs a Telnet server running on it - telnetd listening on port 23 (usually).
Incidentally, Mac OS X is not a Linux based OS, it is based on BSD Unix.

Same Issue here. I had a similar issue with my Bose USB speakers when I upgraded to Maverick. I've had the speakers since 2010 and had no issue with my 2006 Mac Pro or my iMac till the Maverick upgrade, contacted both Apple and Bose with no luck but an Apple update fixed the issue.
I wonder if other USB speakers have an issue or is it just BOSE USB speakers. But my Companions did work fine with my Mac Pro and iMac 27 till the Yosemite update with an initial issue with the Maverick upgrade it was definitely an Apple issue not Bose. I have both Boise Airplay and Blue tooth speakers that seem OK it is only the USB Companions that don't work.
Will look forward to a solution.

A730 keyboard and mouse compatibility with other machines

I would like to have a USB keyboard mouse with the machine. Unfortunately there is not an option for that with this machine. I would like to sell the k/m that comes with the machine.
What machines including ones not made my Lenovo would the k/m be compatible with?
According to the Lenovo support page for the drivers for this k/m the drivers are compatable with various Lenovo machines.

Is a certain piece of hardware other than the k/b required for it to work? If so, is that piece of hardware available after market?

honestly i'm not sure its my 865PE Neo2 LS or not,it may be a software issue. I'm just guessing because that was a the biggest change in my system before I started to experiance this problem.
I have experianced this problem with the default windows drivers as well as with logitechs current Mouseware drivers, although i have not tried to install older mouseware drivers
I've had lockups with CoreCell installed as well as removed.In DirectX 8.1 as well as DirectX 9
I thought perhaps it might have been my soundcard because prior to buying that I didnt have any problems...so I removed that...but i still got the same problem (although as i type this i realize i didnt uninstall the Audigy software before i tested....hhmmm. I'll have to test that)
I have noticed it happens more often in OSP/Quake3 (a competition mod) than in plain vanilla Quake3, but it does happen in both.
One intersting thing i discovered by trying out a Belkin KB with my set up was that when i hit a certain combination of keys it would exec a chat bind i had bound to a whole other key ?!?
the combination was r + g + spacebar = keypad home
That particular problem stopped once I went back to original Keyboard. It did stick in my mind however that when playing Q3 i am hitting combinations of keys all the time and that maybe I'm hitting a combination that is problematic for my system. I have not been able to figure out what that combintion is yet (I tried for quite a while ...but was unable to find the correct combination to reproduce the problem )

Using thread and socket connection with other machines

we already using java.net.Socket and java.lang.Thread
to communication TANDEM Machine on the weblogic.
the reason why we use to socket and thread even though it is not
recommanded is that below
1. once we connect Socket, then we using until server shutdown or
connection may has the problem, so we're using thread to wait
java.io.Inputstream to read from socket.(if I using EJB, It can't
wait socket inputstream indefinetly, because it has timeout)
2. we're logging Database date sent or received with TANDEM Machine.
so we need Database Access. so we using Database Access
thru Weblogic.
3. EJB Application using (other EJB Application - send Module)
to send data to TANDEM Machine. So "Send Module" should
be implemented EJB.
but. Now I see there might be problem this framework.
so, is there some way by just using J2EE spec, to implement this kind of
framework.

Yes i've tried interrupt method and it doesn't have any effects on the thread... it stay in connect() method...
And for the timeouts, in fact i use an API : J2SSH, to connect with SSH protocol, and the setting of connection timeouts is not implemented yet... and the default timeout is about 4 minutes...
so i don't know how to solve this problem...

Can Director Interact With Other Applications?

I am a CBT/E-Learning Developer looking for a way to author
Guided Help. I am thinking of how to develop interactive tutorials
that, instead of using screenshots of an application, interact with
the application itself.
For instance, let's imagine that a person is working in MS
Word and doesn't know how to save a file. He can click the icon for
the "Saving A File" lesson, and a caption displays on top of MS
Word that reads something like "Click FILE", along with some type
of indicator of the FILE button, such as an outline, highlight,
arrow, etc. The user clicks FILE, the File Menu drops down in MS
Word, and the next step of instructions is displayed. In this way,
the usre is guided through the steps of saving a file as he
actually performs the task in the software.
Can Director create this type of thing?

Thanks for replying. I used MS Word as just an example; the
type of software I'm wanting to use this for is police records
management software. I've been doing the interactive simulation
tutorials for them since 1999, using multimedia authoring tools
Demoshield and Opus Pro, and demo authoring tools RoboDemo and Demo
Builder. However, I wanted to get away from interactive tutorials
for 3 reasons:
(1) My client's software is frequently updated, and keeping
up with taking new screenshots is a hassle.
(2) I'm of the opinion that "at the moment of need", process
embedded "guided help" in the actual application is a much more
useful form of training than working through a simulation.
(3) It will greatly help my client's support staff and
training staff
I've been researching process embedded e-learning and guided
help for almost a year now. I've looked at everything from
multimedia authoring to macro software. I even found two programs
that do exactly what I want, but they are very very expensive, much
more expensive than Director.
Thanks for the tip on Hook Xtra; I'll check that out. Last
night I found an xtra called MasterApp, which may also do what I
need. I appreciate the concern about the difficulty of programming,
and I'm not a programmer (except HTML, and we all know how easy
that is). But I'm in this for the long haul, and would be using it
for potential new clients, not just my current client. I love
learning new software, and I have a membership to the IEEE Computer
Society, which gives me over 1300 online e-learning courses I can
take, including Director.

How does airplay interact with Time Machine?

I just purchased a MacBook Pro, but the 256GB of flash storage is not going to be enough for my projects and media. My iTunes library has become pretty extensive, so I'm wondering if I'll be able to stream to my TV the content in my iTunes using Time Machine in combination with Apple TV? Anyone have this set up?

Time Machine is software that backs up the contents of your Mac. You will not be able to use those backups for everyday use to stream media over your network.
Suggest that you add another external hard drive and move your iTunes library to that drive.
Then Time Machine will backup both your Mac and the contents of the external drive. So, you have "originals" on one drive and "backups" on another. If one drive fails, then you at least have a copy on the other drive.

Using the Bluetooth Transceiving Key with other machines

I have recently got a Bluetooth phone and I'm looking for an easy way to give my PC Bluetooth connectivity so that they can talk to each other.
I don't have an MSI motherboard in any of my machines so I'm wondering if the transceiving key (6967) would give any machine it was connected to a standard Bluetooth connection?
i.e. can I just plug it into my PC and use it to synchronize with my phone?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Program to interact with Instron Machine

Hi, back ten years ago, we had a program written with LabVIEW that controlled an Instron 4206 Stress machine by keeping it at a constant load because it was not an available setting on the machine. The program would correspond with the Instron machine and would maintain the constant load. We are trying to bring back the program and use it now. We know the program was written with version 5.1.1 and I posted it on the Conversion Forum to get it converted, but any ideas on how to link it back up with the Instron Machine? Is there some hardware we need to buy? We don't have the computer or the person who ran the last program so this is why I am asking.

The last Instron I worked with (I programmed one for one of my clients) was a pretty old clunker that came with actual 5-1/4" floppy disks. So I don't know if it was a 4206 or not. At any rate, I used its GPIB interface to control it via LabVIEW.
Assuming your Instron has a GPIB interface for external communication, which it probably does, you'll need a GPIB board for the computer which has your LabVIEW program on it. Assuming you are using a relatively modern computer which has USB ports, I'd recommend this one: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/201586
You might also need a GPIB cable for connecting the Instron to the USB-to-GPIB adapter.

Weird interaction with time machine

Whenever time machine starts doing a backup, iMovie goes beserk. If it's playing a movie, it suddenly stops. Then when I hit the space bar to start it again, it jumps to a different project. In particular, I've been watching a clip in an event. But after the time-machine hiccup, the next I hit the space bar, it jumps to a project I was working on yesterday and starts playing that! Anyone seen this?

Movieclips interacting with other movieclips

Okay. So I've got a movieclip. Inside that movieclip are a bunch of buttons. The buttons are programed to turn on and off a bunch of movieclips to work as a form of image gallery. The movieclips that are being turned on and off are NOT in the movieclip with the buttons. The buttons are in their own movieclip because they're scrollable with a functioning scrollbar.
The action script for all of this is in the main timeline where the image movieclips and the movieclip containing the buttons are.
It's not working.
My guess would have been that the buttons can't find the corresponding movieclips because they're technically on different timelines.
The problem with that theory is I tried this once before and it worked. Before there wasn't a scrollbar involved but I had the buttons in their own movieclip because they were tweened and it worked perfectly fine.
Why won't this work?
Any thoughts?

Okay here's the code. Basically it makes all the movieclip images labeled IMG_number invisible until their corresponding buttons make them visible. This code is located on the same timeline as the IMG files but the buttons are contained within a movieclip on that timeline.

How do I share keynotes now that iWork is gone? Online sharing with others was fantastic.

We used to use Keynote to share our presenations with many others...
being able to see them directly ONLINE and thru any web-browser was a fantastic feature.
Now that its gone.. is there an alternative? Is Apple going to fill that gap?

Hey thanks... yea thats too bad actually... I think Apple needs to realize really soon that the Application is no longer defined by its limits on the machine... the cloud and specifically interaction with OTHER people working on documents, files etc - is very much a critical feature that needs to be supported and grown forwards....
Keynote was great not because I could toss a PDF up for people to download... but beacuse I could SHARE a real presenation that had some nice flow thru a web-based interface meaning ANYONE could view it and experience as I intended it to be.... PDF does not capture that same glory...
Nor does it allow those participants to help me craft that presenations thru comments, notes and online discussion.... Keynote was more than an app that makes presentations....
it was a collaborative tool that allowed groups to interact as ONE towards building a better presentation...and Apple fully dropping that so far is a huge dissapointment.... cloud sharing is NOT the same as collaborative sharing....
I wish Steve was still around.... I'd send him an email about it. I hope someone is listening over there.... I imagined that you had something else up your sleeve... but now that iWork is really gone and nothing has come to replace it...Im afraid that you may have just dropped the ball.... on your foot.

Mouse not interacting with panels.

I have CS6 wich I just DL a few weeks ago for school, I use no plug-ins or other add on software. The problem is my mouse will not interact with the panels, (ie layers, swatches, and the such) in InDesign. So far Photoshop Illustrator, and Bridge all work just fine it is only ID that I am having issues with. On the panels I can get it to open the group but it has no interaction with the fine details, selecting layers, double click name to rename locking viewing and open layer options, create new layer button will also not work, I can use the options button at the top right of the panel for some things but it leaves me limited on what can be done. I can not even use my mouse to switch between layers. Any idea on what may be causeing this and what I can do to fix it. (yes my mouse works, it is charged and interacts with other software and games with no problem)

BTW I did several searches on Adobe forum using various combinations of "indesign CS6 mouse will not work in layers panel" and did not manage to find your helpful reply.I eventually found it on about page 10 of Google search results! How to create a modal dialog, which I can still interact with document when the dialog is show.

    Now, I am developing an automation plugin, and want to create a modal dialog, which I still can interact with document when the dialog is show.
    I find photoshop has some modal dialog have this function, such as the dialog of Customize Proof Condition and the dialog of Color Settings. Are these dialogs not modal dialog?

The whole point of a modal dialog is that you cannot interact with other things while it is active.
And Photoshop does not support plugins accessing the rest of Photoshop while any plugin UI is active.
