Cannot abide new staus bar, how can i get rid of it or else i shall get rid of firefox

it doesnt seem to serve any purpose except annoy me, so bad i shall revert to old 3.6.17 or just kick it into touch

The Status Bar was replaced by the Add-on Bar in Firefox 4. If you do not want the Add-on Bar displayed, do one of the following:
*click the orange Firefox button at the top left, click Options, click Add-on Bar to remove the check mark
*if using the Menu Bar instead of the Firefox button, click View > Toolbars, click Add-on Bar to remove the check mark
*Hold the Ctrl key while pressing the keyboard key "/"
*Hold the Alt key while pressing the keyboard letters VTA
NOTE: if you install '''''status-4-evar''''' and you choose to show it at the bottom to regain some of the old Status Bar functionality, the Add-on Bar must be displayed to show the 3 widgets included with '''''status-4-evar'''''. The 3 widgets can also be displayed on a toolbar at the top of the browser window instead of in the Add-on Bar
