Cannot abort a download on Adobe Download Manager - Help!

Hi there,
I'm have an EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING problem. I spent a good few hours downloading the trial for After Effects. It got to the 'extracting' stage on the Download Manager and showed an error saying that the disk image couldn't be opened. No idea why this happened, but that's not even my problem. I deleted the downloaded .dmg file for After effects and tried to stop the current download which was still stuck on the 'extracting' message, but I can't actually click the little 'x' to stop it, it won't let me. So, I've uninstalled and then re-installed the Adobe Download Manager about 3 times, and every time i open it it's STILL there, stuck on 'extracting' this AE download that I've already deleted anyway. I just want to restart the whole thing, start downloading AE again, but I can't get off this download for the life of me!
Anyone know how I can just force this download to abort in the Download Manager without having to press the little 'x' on the right, which appears to be frozen/inaccessible since I can't click it....
HELP THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING! It's urgent I get the trial up and running as soon as possible...
I'm on a Mac running Lion.

Jobenmardoukas I would recommend deleting the following folders after uninstalling the Adobe Download Assistant:
/[user name]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant
/[user name]/Library/Caches/com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant
This should resolve your difficulties with the download continually trying to extract.

  • Cannot Install Creative cloud OR Adobe Application Manager on brand new install of Windows 7 64bit

Here is where I've been today...
I started out this process formatting my C drive (a 120gb SSD),
then I reinstalled windows 7 64bit  from scratch
then I ran ALL of the updates "Windows Update" suggessted
    then I installed google chrome
then I logged into creative cloud and whent to the download center and I think I clicked on like Adobe Acrobat XI pro or I might have clicked on the actual "Creative Cloud" download
then I opened the installer and it got to about here:
And then it popped up with this "Sorry, there seems to be a problem with the download process (Error code: A12E5). For troubleshooting tips, please visit our customer support page.":
Then I I tried what I thought was the next best second option.... I downloaded the Adobe Application Manager ("ApplicationManager7.0_all"). After the successful download of said installer
Then I ran the installer and told it to unpack it's gear on my desktop. It sort of did, but before it was done it gave me this error: "a problem occurred while extracting some files. check available space on your computer and write privileges on destination folder":
Then I tried to run the akward result of the "failed" extraction (see pic below):
Which just so happened to have a healthy looking setup file in it:
So naturally I ran the setup file and got this error "we've encountered the following issues installer failed to initialize. please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem" which gave me two options "Get Support Advisor" or "quit":
Guess what I did next... I clicked "Get Support advisor"
Downloaded the windows version... install seemed to go alright and then after this I ran the software package and sure enough I found out that the system is doing great no errors were found!~ Sweet! "inspection could not identify any issues. Please contact Adobe Support for further Assistance." and as it sugessted Iwent over to http://www.adobe.com/support/ and poked around for quite a while and gave up
A diffrent thread (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/a12e1-error-downloading-creative-cloud.html) seemed to suggest that it was the downloading of the installer that was causing the issue. So I tried downloading the installer from every possible source that I can find... Mozilla, Chrome, Internet Explorer "IE" 11, I searched despratly for a way to turn off the "Download manager" and all of this has been to no avail!
I tried a few other things which I cannot recall (I think one of them was downloading it through mozilla which had a little more promise.) and I think I also tried what was suggested in this thread: "http://forums.adobe.com/message/5386547"
Here is a quote from that thread:

Hi Shawn, Are you on MAC or Win ?
    Try this :
Rename OOBE folder to OOBE_old located :
    Win 7 64 bit  : C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\
    Win 7 32 bit : C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
    MAC:  Macintosh HD/Library/Applciation support/Adobe/
Delete opm.db file located at :
    Win  7 :C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    MAC : ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Then try to install AAM again, it should install without any issues.
This process was what I THINK what produced the "Adobe Application Manager" Icon on my desktop!
    which I then clicked hopefully!
It then began to update "OH BOY!!!"
Then I was greated with the still stark reality that I was wrong to have silly hopes... and it coldly told my boyish heart "We encountered the following issues: Sorry, there seems to be a problem with the download process (Error Code: A12E5). For troubleshooting tips, please visit our customer support page."
I've tried just about everything I know how to try... I need this software up an running or my job is on the line YIKES!
Please help! God bless you for doing so!

    >a 120gb SSD
Your 1st message also said "check available space"
I don't use SSD drives, but my C drive has Win7 64bit Pro + CS5 Master Collection + MS Office Pro + "misc" small programs and files + all my MS Office documents in My Documents folder... and I use 71Gig
Your 120Gig SSD should be plenty large... EXCEPT... I have NO IDEA how much space is used for temporary files during download + install
Otherwise, you may need to contact Adobe chat... Next link has a "Chat Now" button near the bottom

    Hi Shotgun981,
Adding to what Jeff & Sheena shared, have you got any other product installed on this machine? Is that working fine ? Can you please navigate to the below mentioned location and advice if that worked for you or not.

Rename the above mentioned folder to SLStore_old and try and launch Acrobat . If this doesn't work , please make sure that we have full permissions on the folder mentioned in the kb article. (Note: this Kb article is only for sharing the location and the actual problem is not described in it)

  • Book purchased in ibooks says downloaded but cannot find in ibooks or itunes purchases and not on my desktop.  Paid for it but cannot find the download.  HELP

Purchase book from ibooks and paid for it. When I look up "purchased" it says it is downloaded but I cannot find it in either ibooks or itunes.  Am very new at this and read all previous similar posts, but nothing helped.  Please help me find my book.

If it shows as 'downloaded' in the Purchased tabs in the iBooks app then it should show on the bookshelf in the app. If you select the My Books tab in the app (bottom left) and then tap the 'collection' name at the top middle of the bookshelf and select the 'All' collection does it then show on the bookshelf ?

  • HT201272 I downloaded a free app, I had a message sayin there was updates available, when I updated it said sign in, which I did, then it said I would have to pay, now I am stuck an cannot do any downloads, please help

My problem is above. After being asked to update an app, I had to log on then it said I had to log in again to confirm billing info, it's a free app? Not it's stuck and I can't instal anything new????

All future installs/updates of Muse (and most other Adobe apps) are through the Creative Cloud desktop app. Thus you do need to have it installed.
Are you on Windows or Mac? What OS version?

  • Akamai download manager really crap

    Folks,
Long ago in ancient times Microsoft provided a genuinely useful tool for downloading evaluation and TechNet software, the Microsoft Download Manger.  It seems folks most interested in their cubical photos then customer are now in charge.  Akamai
download manager is slow, prone to crashing and altogether crap.  Been in the biz over a quarter of a century.  Does anyone give a damn?

Sorry to hear your experience.I did use this download manager earlier (in early 2013) but fortunately didn't face any issue with it.
Make sure that firewall or any internet security thing is not  trying to block it.

  • Cannot get Adobe Download Manager to work

I'm currently running Acrobat 7 and cannot download a trail copy of Acrobat 8 Professional.
I downloaded the Download Manager when the pop up prompted me to. When I click the odwnload now button, it always loops me back to a window titled "Resume your Adobe download". I cannot get past this window.
I am not sure that the download manager installed correctly. I cannot find it under control panel in order to delete and resinstall it. I have been prompted again (since installing it) to install it again and again and again....
    Help!!!!!!!!!!

The amazing part is that when you go to the trial version, the downloads work just fine so now I'm running the trial version. I suspect that Adobe has internal
IT problems and that a house cleaning is needed in order to set things straight again. My purchase version will NOT
download, not matter what net browser or security setting is applied. These download issues are now so serious that a simple search of the 'net brings up numerous complaints about the same topic. Not good for Adobe.

See the troubleshooting tips in this article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html; especially the uninstaller mentioned in part 1, and the offline installer links in part 5 (they do not use the download manager).
