Cannot accept app on this computer?

I removed iPhoto (pre-installed on new MacBook Air running 10.7.2) because I was going to install Aperture.  When I went to the App Store to purchase Aperture I noticed there were a lot of negative reviews from people running Lion so I decided not to purchase it.
I looked up iPhoto on the App Store to re-install it and where the price normally would be it said "Accept"?  When I clicked on accept it asked for my Apple ID and Password as it would for a purchase or update.  When I put my ID and password in it accepted it but returned an error message a moment later that said:
"These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update."
I was on the phone with Apple Support and was passed to three different people in three different departments with no resolution to my problem.  This is my first Mac so I am on a learning curve.  I am an advanced user on PC and I'm sure once I get adjusted I will know the Lion operating system well.  In the meantime I could use some help with this problem.
Thank you,
Tony

I got the same message on my Core Duo, but successfully downloaded it from the developer's website and it works just fine. And the Mac App Store shows that it installed.
I think that it does have to do with Core Duo because I only install Combos.

  • This version of Mac OS X 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer. Why Not. Mac Mini has the required spec.

    Hi...
I hope that you can help me!!
I am trying to update a recently purchased pre-owned Mac Mini to OSX Lion. ATM it is running OSX 10.6.8, with 2GHz Core 2 duo processor, and 2GB of DDR2 SD RAM. There is 30+ GB of hard drive available. The App Store has acknowledged the fact that I have previously bought OSX Lion, but when I try to download, it displays the following, "This version of Mac OS X 10.7 cannot be installed on this computer." It meets the required specs. Help!! How can I upgrade....

What model is it? There are some early Intel minis around that have had CPU upgrades. They can't run Lion, at least not without hacking.

How are you trying to reinstall, from Recovery, or from the App Store?

  • HT201364 Can't download Mavericks installer on recent Mac. "OS Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer", which is running 9.1.

I want to download the Mavericks installer so I have a backup installer that does not require the internet.  Although, the App Store button allows me to download, I get a message that Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.
Computer is late 2013 retina MBP 13" with lots of memory.
My OS is 10.9.1 (13B3116) currently running.
Is the App Store version of Mavericks too old (jan 16) for my rMBP?

Judging by the build number, it appears you have a special build of Mavericks installed and the App Store version (13B42) won't work with your computer.
Kappy - if I try to download Mavericks I get the message below, so apparently I can down load it again?
I also have a copy of the installer in my Applications folder, although it is in a folder.

  • "Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer," bs!

Please help. I am trying to install Mavericks on an iMac with a 6,1 identifier number and 10.6.8 installed and up-to-date. WHY does it say, "Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer," when I try to get it? I meet at least three specs to be able to download, so I cannot understand what the trouble is?  Can anyone elighten me?  It's pretty annoying.  I'm trying to like Macs.  I'm a PC girl, and this is the same BS I come to you with from PCs.  I thought Macs were better?  ;-)

Sorry, but your iMac is too old to install Mavericks.
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
If you wish, you can upgrade to OS X 10.7 Lion
    OS X Lion system requirements
To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended).
7 GB of available disk space
    2 GB of RAM
Purchase an install code for OS X 10.7 Lion here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
It would be very prudent to create a backup of your system and important data before embarking on a major systems upgrade.
    Good Luck!

  • Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.

Just replaced internal hdd. All requirements are met running 10.6.8 but after download from App Store I get the alert message "Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.help. iMac core2 3.06 1tb hdd 4gb ram.

Does your iMac meet the requirements (http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/ ):
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
Click on the Apple Menu's, "About This Mac," press, " More Info," look for the Model Identifier. It must be 7.1 or higher to run Mavericks.

  • Reinstall Lion problem: "Lion cannot be installed on this computer"

Hi, I just bought a new Mac Mini 2011 with Lion already installed on it. After use Time Machine to bring back my old data I found out the system wasn't working at the speed anyone would expect from a brand new product. As an example, it takes too long to login or to get the window to close one of the apps of the dock (it can take at least 5-6 seconds to appear...) Something that didn't even happen in my old MacBook.
For this reason I tried to reinstall Lion using the method described here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/
I even tried with the external Usb drive option but when the utility tries to verify the system I get this error message: "Lion OS 10.7  cannot be installed on this computer".
I will call Apple Techincal Service of course, but in the meantime... anybody has any idea about why this is happening?
    Thanks!

    Try:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • TS1277 I cannot find the "authorize this computer" prompt anywhere? Please help me

I cannot find the "authorise this computer" prompt anywhere? The instructions say to open itunes and go to "authorise this computer". I have icloud and an Iphone4. Everything i have downloaded to the imac, has shown up on the iphone. But recently i have bought some music on the iphone, and it will not show up on the imac. I dont get it? all the pics i take on the iphone show up on the imac.

That sounds like you are looking at the Mac App Store, not iTunes - in iTunes (you don't need to authorise your account in the Mac App Store, you don't download or play music, films etc from there) you should have similar to :

  • TV video download will not play - error "This movie cannot be played on this computer"  but the computer is authorized

I downloaded TV Masterpiece Mystery Inspector Lewis Ramblin Boy episode but when I try to view or sync to iPod I get a message that "This movie cannot be played on this computer."  I double checked and this computer is authorized.

  • Backing up iPad - 'Backup cannot be stored on this computer'

    Hi all
Decided today to upgrade to iOS 4 on my iPad, running Snow Lepoard and latest version of iTunes. When I try to update it, after a few minutes, it says that the backup cannot be saved to this computer, so I cannot update it. I read that a solution to this is to delete the backup from iTunes Device Preferences.. and I have done this, but I got the same problem again. When I went back into iTunes Device Preferences, the backup is still there... i've tried deleting it many times and it just won't work
Any help either deleting the backup of preferably helping to get my iPad updated is greatly appreciated

With iTunes closed trying deleting (I would move vise delete) the backup using finder. You can find the location of the file in the following under About Syncing and Backups.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079
I would also try repairing permissions via the Disk Utility.
