CANNOT ACCES EXCHANGE ADMIN CENTER (ECP) ON EXCHANGE SERVER 2013. GOT HTTP 500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR

HI, I just installed Exchange server 2013 Standar SP1 on a windows server 2012.  I have 3 servers one is a Domain Controller, the other one has the MBX role, and the last one the CAS role,  first i installed the MBX and after the CAS role, i passed
prerequisite check without any issue.  However when I tried access Exchange Admin Centre (ECP) at https:\\servername\ecp
I got HTTP 500 Internal Server Error saying  "This website cannot display the page.  Most likely causes: 1. The website is under maintenance. 2. The website has a programming error."   I tried access ECP at https://localhost/ecp and
I got the same problem.  Under either cases I was able to see the logon page of  ECP and I was able to enter my credential (e.g. domain\user name, password).  However I got HTTP 500 Internal Server Error at the next page.
I appreciate your help, on my case.

Hi,

Please view the Application Pool to check whether the version of .NET Framework is 4.0 and try the following command.
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe –i.
If this does not help then please check if there is any warnings or errors in Event Log and take your time to post them for my further troubleshooting.
Thanks.

  • Exchange 2013 OWA/ECP HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

So I know there are a lot of these threads, so I'll list what I've done and what I've tried so far.
The setup is a pair of multirole servers with a DAG.  We have a root domain and sub domain.
I've created 4 databases associated with the DAG, I successfully removed the default database on the 2nd mail server, then migrated the arbitration/system/discovery etc... mailboxes to one of the DAG databases.  I then removed the 1st mail server's default
database after killing it's healthmailbox.  Rebooted the pair of servers and after that the ECP/OWA were inaccessible.
To run tests I installed .NET 3.5 SP1 so I could run the ExBPA which really didn't get me anywhere.
I can access the logon screen for both, but when I enter my username and password, I get the http 500 internal server error.
    I have used: Get-OwaVirtualDirectory -Server <server name> | fl *auth*
To verify that basic and forms based auth are enabled, and they are.
I've verified all services have started.
I've tried to remove and re-add the app pools and the ecp virtual directories.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/bb148ccb-a75e-4571-bfc7-76950f8e638e/exchange-2013-cu2-cant-access-ecp-unexpected-error-500?forum=exchangesvrgeneral
I've tried to use ADSI Edit to purge the Canary Data.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/777b51ee-330d-43cc-a56e-4614d44aed7b/unable-to-access-owa-or-ecp-something-went-wrong-or-500-unexpected-error?forum=exchangesvrclients
I've tried to run test-ecpconnectivity but stated that the test user wasn't available.
So I tried to use the powershell script to create a new test user, but it doesn't seem to work either I think it's related to the exchange machine not being a member of the root domain, but not sure on that one.
I seem to be able to manage everything with command-line still.  Create and remove mailboxes etc.
As far as errors/warnings go exchange wise I get an ASP.NET 4.0 warning Event ID 1309 stating that an unhandled exception occurred, which seems to coincide with the logon attempt.  I'm sure this has something to do with it, but not real sure what yet.
Nothing I can see within the logon attempt from IIS or anything else really.
    I think that's about all I have.

    Hi,
Please check on the Application Pools to view whether OWA and ECP Application Pool is running on .NET Framework v4.0. It maybe the incompletely installation of Framework that causes this error.
If so, We can try to run the following command as Administrator:
    %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
Or change the MSExchangeECPAppPool from .NET Framework from v4.0 to v2.0. Then restart IIS to have a try.

  • Http 500 internal server error exchange server 2013

    Hello Everyone
    Here is my little scenario.
    i have a domain named contoso.com
i then installed exchange server 2013 in my environment.  cas and mailbox server are on seperate box.
switched of my exchange servers for a week, during that period i changed the netbios name of my domain to toso from contos. although my domain name still remain contoso.com. the only change i made was the netbios name
a week later i switched on my exchange servers. during the same time i created two new servers one cas and the other mailbox
i now have 2 cas server and 2 mailbox server
problem now is that when i log into my ecp on one of my cas server using https://servername/ecp. after inserting my username and password i get http 500 internal error
although with exchange management shell i can connect to all the servers

-->switched of my exchange servers for a week, during that period i changed the netbios name of my
domain to toso from contos. although my domain name still remain contoso.com. the only change i made was the netbios name
Did you change your domain to toso.com? If yes then your first/previously installed exchange is broken. Exchange server is fully integrated with domain.
Renaming of domain is not supported in Exchange2007/2010/2013.  (Even in Exchange2000/2003 you need some netbios name resolution. Check this for an info)
Anyway did you try login to the newly installed exchange (i.e. Exchange installed after Netbios rename)?
Try that first https://newserverip/ECP and https://newserverip/OWA (that is supposed to work), If
that works I suggest you try to uninstall the previously installed Exchange after moving the database using database portabilityand install again as new
    server.
Please get back with the result.
    Thanks, MAS

    Hello,
When you use the url: https://CASServerName/ecp , if you want to access EAC, you need to have organization management permission.
Please use get-rolegroupmember "organization management" cmdlet to check if you are a member of management role group. If you don't have this permission, please use add-rolegroupmember "organization management" cmdlet to add your account to the management

  • Exchange Admin Center 2013 SP1 worked for a day and then stopped working, possible OAB problems

Here is a problem that has me confused. On a fresh Windows Server 2012 R2, I installed Exchange 2013 SP1. It was successful and for the first day everything was working well. I then installed all security updates. The next day, I could no longer log in to

My first guess is to reset the Outlook Address Book by using the Remove-OabVirtualDirectory Exchange commandlet. But I am not so sure this will work because Exchange worked for a day. Any help understanding what caused the problem (and thus help avoid it
happening again) and how to fix it are appreciated. Thanks.

    hi,
If nothing works try resetting the Virtual Directories.
    For  owa
Open Exchange Management Shell (EMS), and then run the following cmdlet to change the authentication method of the "owa" virtual directory to Windows authentication:
set-Owavirtualdirectory -identity "MBX\owa (Exchange Back End)" -WindowsAuthentication $True -Basicauthentication $false
    -Formsauthentication $false
Run the following command on both the Client Access and Mailbox servers to restart Internet Information Services (IIS):
    iisreset /noforce
    For  ECP
    Start Windows PowerShell.
Type the following commands, and then press Enter after each line:
    Add-PSSnapin *exchange*
Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "MBX\ecp (Exchange Back End)" -WindowsAuthentication $true -FormsAuthentication $false
Run the following command on both the Client Access and Mailbox servers to restart Internet Information Services (IIS):
    iisreset /noforce
    For Ref: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123752(v=exchg.150).aspx
I did those commands. But remember, the original error I gave was related to the OAB virtual directory, not ECP or OWA. I also did the Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory, Remove-OabVirtualDirectory, and Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory commandlets and the corresponding
EcpVirtualDirectoryOabOwaVirtualDirecoty ones. I still cannot log in to the Exchange Admin Center. And I still have the same original generic unhelpful error message.
However, there are some changes. After I removed and re-added the virtual directories I no longer received the original error logs given above. I now get this log in the event viewer:
Event 2001, MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy
[Owa] Failed to load SSL certificate.
The first logs I gave above always appeared after attempting to log in. This log that I gave appears infrequently and is not connected to any log in events. This log occurs only
after a similar log given below:
Event 1001, MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy
    [Owa] Application Starting.

  • Exchange Admin Center repeatedly asks for password

I have installed Exchange 2013 CU6 to be part of a hybrid in-house/Office365 email domain for a small non profit agency. Exchange seems to have installed correctly. However, I cannot log in to the Exchange Admin Center (or OWA, or ECP). The login screen
accepts the user name and password, blinks, and asks for the password again as if nothing happened. If I put in a bad password or user names, it give me a username/password failed error. Therefore, I know it is recognizing the correct password.
I have tried IE on the Exchange server and other domain computers, and all act the same way. I have created another account and Exchange enabled it, and it acts the same way all around. I cannot find any error messages on the Exchange server. The domain
and forest are at 2008 R2 levels, and all domain controllers are 2008 R2. The Exchange server is on 2012 (not R2).
I have done some searching and not found anyone else describing a similar problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you use the following URL to access EAC and OWA to check the result.
    https://%computername%/ecp?ExchClientVer=15
    https://%computername%/OWA?ExchClientVer=15
Hope this can be helpful to you.

    Hello,
You may have to manually run the maintenance on the database before the next scheduled automatic activity for the same. The following cmdlet can help you: Remember to substitute your database name
    Get-MailboxStatistics -Database "Database Name" | Where { $_.DisconnectReason -ne $null } | ForEach {Update-StoreMailboxState -Database $_.Database -Identity $_.MailboxGuid -Confirm:$false}

  • 500 internal server error - OWA when trying to open options - Exchange 2010

    Hello,
I have been in the process of setting up our new exchange 2010 server and have found the following issue.  I can log into the secure OWA site without issue and can send and receive emails fine.  When i attempt to select any "option" such
as set automatic replies or see all options  I receive the following error message -
"500 internal server error there is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and cannot be displayed".
I have verified that all required exchange servicesare running.
    I am running exchange 2010 sp3 on server 2012.
I think it may an issue within IIS but i'm not sure
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, there is a 500 internal server error when you select any Option in your OWA.
Based on my research, we can try the following steps:
    1.  Check whether Virtual Directories Authentication configured properly. Enable the ECP Virtual Directory with Anonymous and Basic Authentication.
    2.  Check on the Application Pools to view whether ECP Application Pool is running on .NET Framework v4.0.
Then restart IIS.
If you have any question, please do not hesitate to tell me.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    Winnie Liang

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 | Another HTTP 500.0.0 Error

    Help!
We are in the middle of migrating from Exchange 2010 SP3 to Exchange 2013 SP1 and we are being plagued with HTTP 500 errors on every Exchange 2013 server now.
I have two Client Access servers installed (EXCHFE01 & EXCHFE02) and one backend mailbox server (EXCHMB03) with the Client Access role also installed (for troubleshooting purposes). Once I get everything working I'll install two backend 2013 servers
with the mailbox role only for production (load-balanced, clustered, etc). I still have two Exchange 2010 mailbox servers left since one has a single large mailbox left on it and the other hosts public folders. I'll get to migrating those later. All Exchange
2013 servers are running Windows Server 2012. All are on the same LAN and no firewalls are between them.
On all three 2013 servers (EXCHFE01, EXCHFE02, EXCHMB03) I'm getting the dreaded HTTP 500 error whether I try to get to OWA or ECP. This did work at one point where I could at least login to the mailbox server (EXCHMB03) and migrate all my mailboxes over
to it. Sometime this morning after the two Client Access servers were installed the mailbox server stopped working (HTTP 500 errors). This is very frustrating because I can't even login to a console to manage Exchange from any server at this point.
Both Client Access servers aren't really showing anything of value in the event logs or the IIS logs. The mailbox server (EXCHMB03) does show the following event 3002:
Protocol /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync failed to process request from identity NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Exception: Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.BackendRehydrationException: Rehydration failed. Reason: Source server 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' does not have token serialization permission.
    at Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.BackendRehydrationModule.ProcessRequest(HttpContext httpContext)
    at Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.BackendRehydrationModule.OnAuthenticateRequest(Object source, EventArgs args).
...and I get the following when I run the Exchange Management Shell tool on the same mailbox server (along with lots of other red HTML text):
    More Information:
This error means that there was a problem while processing the request. The request was received by the Web server, but during processing a fatal error occurred, causing the 500 error.
The Client Access servers show the following errors:

I've tried all sorts of recommended fixes but none have worked so far:
    ADSIEdit and remove msExchCanaryData0 data
    Reinstall Exchange multiple times
    Rebooted multiple times

Rebooted DCs multiple times (no exchange servers are DCs)
I'm sure I've left out a few troubleshooting steps since I've been working at this for two days. Can anybody offer any advice? I'm at my wits end here...

    Hi,
Please check whether the mail.mydomain.com is pointed to your Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013. Please run the following command to check your OWA virtual directores and ECP virtual directories:
    Get-OwaVirtualDirectory -ShowMailboxVirtualDirectories | Select Identity,name,Internalurl,ExternalUrl,*auth*
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -ShowMailboxVirtualDirectories | Select Identity,name,Internalurl,ExternalUrl,*auth*
In IIS manager > Default Web Site, please make sure Anonymous Authentication is Enabled in Authentication. Confirm that "Require SSL" is checked on the SSL Settings of the default web site.

  • HTTP error 500: Internal server error: In OAC0 tcode - CS Admin button.

    Hi,
In our ecc system, when I go to OAC0 TCode and click the button CS Admin, it does open the page "Content Server administration" but on the bottom bar I always see error "HTTP error 500: Internal server error".
I want to know if this is normal. We have setup archiving a few years back.
The Archive database is Filenet system and using websphere web server.
    Thanks.

Thanks you But ys, the backend archive server (in this case Filenet along with Websphere) is up and running all the time.
How do I check content repository connection?? is it in OAC0? If yes then we did it and it works fine.
We have also resent the certificate from OAC0 and it got imported at their end too. Yes our SAP system got refreshed but after that we created new entry in strustsso2 and exchanged the certificate. But till date I have always seen HTTP 500 on the "Content Server administration", enen on production server. Not sure if this is normal.
Apart from this, on non production systems we are unable to perform any kind of archiving too. We get HTTP500 whenever we run a Store Job.
