"Cannot access conflicts" message

I have been getting the message "Cannot access conflicts" when trying to sync my Notes between Outlook and my iPhone 4 for the past few weeks. Previously I had no issues at all. This is a new iPhone after my previous one broke, so it was restored and otherwise works perfectly. There WAS an issue with the Notes being sync'ed to my IMAP account but I turned that off so there should be no over-the-air sync'ing since my IMAP provider doesn't support it.
The exact message is: "Unable to retrieve conflict information from the sync server. Please try again next time the conflict resolver window is presented".
There are 2 conflicts, when I choose the "correct" one and press Next this error comes up. When I look at the first of the notes that is in conflict, there actually ISN'T a conflict - the notes are the same on the iPhone and in Outlook, however the old note (the one on the left out of the two choices) is definitely "old" in the sense that the note has been updated, probably since I got the new iPhone. Somehow it's remembering my old notes and having a conflict.
The forums suggested going Edit/Preferences then "Reset Sync History" on the "Devices" tab, but I get a frightening message "Are you sure you want to reset this computer's sync history?" with a bunch of other stuff on it about merging information. It sounds like a potentially bad idea.
Anyone have any ideas please?
Thanks.

UPDATE: this doesn't happen every time. I changed a note in Outlook and then plugged my iPhone in. iTunes went through the 5 step backup/sync process and came up with the usual "Cannot access conflicts" message. At this point, the note had NOT been updated on the iPhone.
I then removed and re-plugged my iPhone, and let it sync again. This time, no message came up and the note HAD gotten updated on the iPhone.
This seems rather strange behaviour.

  • Help...."Cannot Access Conflicts" error message

I get the following error all of a sudden yesterday. Think to myself, oh, it'll go away when I reboot in the morning. No big deal. Well, it won't go away and won't let me fix the conflicts. Here is the message:
    Cannot Access Conflicts
Unable to retrieve conflict information from the sync server.
Pleae try again next time the coflict resolver window is presented.
OK, now, what do I do to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Me too. Anybody have any idea what's going on and what sort of evil will ensue as a result?

  • Cannot access conflicts unable to retrieve contact information from the sync server.

ITunes error message Cannot access conflicts unable to retrieve contact information from the sync server.

I got this advice from Gator5000e on Apple Supposrt Communities:
I use Windows 7 so the path to find this file
might be different under a different OS.
Close iTunes. Search on the words "conflicts.synconflicts".
I renamed it  to conflictsold.synconflicts the .synconflicts is the extension so you can't
    rename that.
Then restarted Windows. As a test I made changes to a note in NOTES on each device. Then connected them one at a time to my computer which has iTunes 10 and Runs Windows 7, it worked !

  • Webmail problem. Logs on to talktalk OK, but I cannot access the messages in the inbox.

I use www.talktalk.co.uk/mail as my email account. I have 2 computers. One runs Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.18 - and that one works just fine with talktalk webmail. The other machine runs Windows Vista and until the past couple of days used Firefox 3.6.18. Within the past couple of days I have changed to Firefox 5 on this machine and now, although it still connects to www.talktalk.co.uk/mail just fine, I now get a message "You have undefined new mails in your inbox". I cannot access the inbox, and the Contacts list appears empty (or I cannot access it). This has only happened since I went up toFirefox 5. However, using the same machine (Vista) but using Internet Explorer as the browser, all works perfectly with talktalk webmail. this leads me to think that it is nothing to do with talktalk, but is something that has happened as a result of my going to Firefox 5. I am not very knowledgeable about the workings of computer software, so if you are willing and able to help me, please keep it simple and detailed. I need my hand holding!!
    Regards, Geoff

Yep, exactly the same problem only on W2K SP4. Firefox5 doesn't work but IE (on the same machine) does.
Sorry, I'm not sure what version version of IE is being used.
(It's the PC at work that has the problem and I'm writing this at home on my linux box which has Firefox version 3.6.18 for linux mint - which also works fine.)
I really hope this can be fixed soon.
    Andy.

  • Ios7 now installed on my iphone 4S, emails show up but I cannot access them, message says cannot get mail - server failed.  Why is this happening?

My message titles appear but I cannot access them since they are greyed out.  Message in front says server failed.  Messages accessable on regular computer, why the problem?  Yesterday I installed ios7 on my iphone 4s..

I have this question too!  I updated my Iphone iOS software last night and this morning, I cannot access my mail as it says that I cannot connect to the server.  On both my Iphone and Macbook, when I open mail- it says that the server rejected my password for ICloud.  I can also log in to ICloud online, so I know that it isn't my password- HOWEVER, when I try to access mail through the cloud online, it tells me that it is unable to obtain my mail.  Is there an iCloud server problem currently?  Is it a software problem?   Please help with any suggestions!  Thanks in advance.

  • On facebook I cannot access chat, messages or the search function; often I cannot write comments. I have allowed cookies, java & flash are up to date. Help?

Basically, it's as I wrote above. I can never access messages or chat. It's just started not letting me see my notifications at all, or letting me log out (it sends me to the account settings page instead). None of current suggestions have helped. I've updated everything, including firefox, but nothing has helped. Anyone got any ideas?

    Hi,
I used to have facebook cookies set at "allow for session", but in desperation they're all "allowed". It didn't help either.
    Thanks though.

  • I can no longer sync iphone and ipad - 'cannot access conflicts' unable to retrieve conflict info from sync server' - any ideas please?  Previous enquirer with this didn't seem to find an answer?

anybody found this and got the answer?  both ipad and iphone used to be ok, just started happening last couple of months.
See from communities question that I'm not the only one, but don't seem to be able to find solution posted anywhere.
It's really annoying cos now ipad, iphone and outlook are all saying they don't match appointments and contacts - aaaarrrgghhhh!

    Here is the solution.
Rationale: You want to be able to have the dates on your items (notes, contacts) on your iphone to be the same as on outlook.  This will eliminate any sync conflicts.  You will also notice that if you modify something on the iphone and sync, you will lose the modification you made.
    Steps:
    1) In outlook, export the data (contacts, notes) to a CSV file
    2) Delete you notes/contacts in outlook
    3) Sync your iphone and select replace information on this iPhone (in iTunes)
    4) Now your contacts and notes will be empty on both your iPhone and Outlook
    5) Now import your contacts and notes from the CSV files back into outlook.  What this does is put the current date and time on every individual item
    6) Sync your iPhone to iTunes normally
    7) everything will work correctly now with no sync issues and no conflicts.

  • When I try to run applications on my domain controller, I get error message, "The service cannot access control messages at this time."

My domain controller is Windows Services 2008 R2.  I get this error message  when trying to open Active Directory, Group Policy, services, etc.  We had this problem previously.  Rebooted the server and it worked for awhile, but the problem
    has reoccurred.

I would agree with others. Installing recent updates might solve the issue. Also, checking the errors in event viewer might help.
Have you tried to reboot the server? If no, you can start with that.
If none of the propositions helped, you can consider doing the following if you have at least one additional DC/DNS/GC server:
Run netdom query fsmo to identify the FSMO roles that the faulty DC is holding
Transfer FSMO roles that the faulty DC is holding to another healthy DC
Demote the faulty DC (If you are unable to do it, you can consider running
dcpromo /forceremoval and running a metadata cleanup)
Re-install the OS of the faulty DC and install the recent updates
Promote the re-installed server as a DC/DNS/GC server
Of course, you need to consider taking system state backups before proceeding.
