Cannot Access Find my Friends popup

A popup reading Cannot Access Find My Friends will not close when we click Later or Open (the two choices). We tried to shut down the iPAD, but the screen will not respond to anything else. Anyone have any idea how to fix this issue??

I have the same problem on my iPhone4. It is obviously a bug in the software. Once it pops out I am locked out of my phone. I can't even begin to describe the frustration this causes. All that stuff about holding down the buttons is useless. the phone won't even shut off. I can take a screen shot like that or go to voice control. Even when I got to a wifi connection, I can't get on. This app blocks everything else. This is a serious bug and can have serious consequences. The only thing my phone would do is go to voice control and let me play iTunes or phone people. Some smart phone hey?
I have finally got to a place with a wide enough wifi to connect my computer and restore the phone. This has lasted over a day!
I don't even know why Find My Friends is on my phone. Is it part of the package and how do I turn it off?

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Screen Locked with box "Cannot Access Find My Friends"

This has never happened...when I try to go on my iPad there is a box that says "cannot access find my friends" with 2 buttons "later" or "open". When I select either of those nothing happens. I have tried shutting down and it won't let me select to power down. I have asked Siri all sorts of questions and commands which she answers and follows. When I ask her to go to the find my friends app it displays a white screen. I never even use this app. Here is a pic of what it looks like.

Try a device reset:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
Afterwards, enter multitasking and close off the Find My Friends app as it may be running and throwing this message. It appears you are likely on iOS 6.x so I'll include the procedure to close off the app for that iOS as it's different than iOS 7 and above:
Double-tap Home, press and hold one of the running app's icons (in your case, Find My Friends) until it wiggles, press the red - on the icon to close the app. Do this for all of the apps you want closed.
Note that a similar pop-up message stating something like "This iPad had not been backed up for xxx amount of time" has also been know to appear with similar symptoms as this message. The only way to clear the message is with a device reset as mentioned above. Apple needs to address (at least) this "no backed up" message issue as it can prevent one from using their device unless they know of the reset.

My IPAD is switched on but I cannot slide the open device. There is a Cannot access find my friends app in the middle but that doesnt respond either.

Desktop items missing and cannot access Finder after Jan updates

All desktop items disappeared following the restart after updates on 25 Jan to my MacBook. I also cannot click on the desktop to access Finder. I cannot drag anything onto the desktop.

Thanks for the feedback. Moving preference files associated with various applications, such as desktop, out of /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ to the Desktop, logging out and back in, will cause the application to create a new default version. If that fixes the problem, then the original preference file (e.g., com.apple.desktop.plist) was most likely corrupted. Good computing.

Cannot use Find my Friends

I have no idea how to sort this out.....
I have a mobileme account and an 'example'@me.com email address.
I purchased my music and apps etc through another appleid, which I have had for years. However, my 'example'@me.com email address, which was initially created through my MobileMe subscription is also linked with my other apple id.
I downloaded and tried to configure Find My Friends yesterday, and it requires a [email protected] email address. My iPhone and iPad are set up to use iCloud, but because my [email protected] email address is linked to my other apple id, I cannot complete the process. I am told that I need to verify my apple ID, but when I try, it says that the [email protected] email address is 'already verified for another apple ID'.
I'm aware that apple IDs cannot be merged, but is it possible to remove the already verified apple ID from one account so that it can be used with a different account, or has anyone solved this problem another way?

Cannot receive Find My Friends invitation

I have set up Find My Friends on my iPhone and iPad, and on my wife's iPhone and iPad. I believe I have confirmed every setting on each device is configured correctly.
I sent my wife a "Find My Friend" request. She accepted and now she is in my list of followers. She sent me a "Find My Friend" request but I have never received it, on any of my devices. The addresses are accurate and I have enabled "Allow Friend Requsts." The "Hide from Followers" is set to Off.

My Finder icon is disabled, and doesn't work after I updated my Mac.

Does the Finder menu bar appear? If so, try command - N to open a new window.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

No you cannot use "Find My Friends" on the Mac or PC, because there is no App or Web App for that. If your brother lost his iPad and enabled Find My iPhone, then he could use his Apple ID/iCloud account to locate his device by using "Find My iPhone".
