Cannot access iTunes songs to download

I have tried to view songs from some Nine Inch Nails albums and get an error "Could not complete the Music Store request. The store may be busy."

Hey there Xavier,
It sounds like you would like to download the purchases you make on your iPad onto your PC. This article should help you get that done:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12491
You can download many types of content previously purchased from the iTunes Store to your devices andauthorized computers. This way, you can add items to your devices and computers without having to sync or copy files. It’s also useful if your iTunes files are lost or deleted for any reason.
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.
Note:   Some types of previously purchased content might not be available in some countries.
Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
Click iTunes Store near the top of the iTunes window.
Click the Purchased link at the right of the iTunes Store homepage (below Quick Links).
In the page that appears, select a category.iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download. If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading. To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click its Download button .
You can also turn on Automatic Downloads on your computer so you do not have to manually download the files each time:

  • Cannot access iTunes Store to download purchases

Why am I receiving the message the message "cannot access iTunes Store"?   This has been a problem just in the last week.  I am using cellular data

I get this same error whenever I try to download anything from both my computer and my iPod touch. Both my brother's and my roommate's accounts work fine on these same items, however. I'm hoping it's something that's being fixed.

  • Cannot access itunes store or downloaded songs

I have been purchasing songs from itunes for the last year with absolutely no problems.
Yesterday I went to access the itunes store and received an error message that "itunes could not connect to the itunes store - make sure your network connection is active and try again".
    1. My connection is active
    2. I tried to "flush" the dns and was successful
    3. I upgraded to the latest version of itunes
Now, itunes will not allow me to play any of my purchased songs. A new window pops up saying that i need to authorize these songs to be played on this computer. When I type my password and hit "authorize", I get the same message as above "itunes cannot access....."
Does anyone have an answer to this? What have I done wrong?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Have you recently made any changes to your security software? Bear in mind that updates may have been downloaded without your knowledge... check your antivirus/firewall software to ensure it is not blocking iTunes traffic. Sometimes it is helpful to disable that software, and then try iTunes again. This gives you an idea of whether that's the issue... if it is, you can play with individual settings within that software to ensure it is allowing iTunes Store traffic.

  • I cannot access iTunes songs showing in external hard drive

I recently closed my dropbox account and moved its content to an external hard drive. This included iTunes songs  and now the songs and related albums no longer show in iTunes when I open it up, although I can see the individual songs (but not in albums)  in the external hard drive.  There are a limited number of albums still showing when I open up iTunes but they are albums I have recently added to iTunes.
However I can see the albums and tracks in the iTunes media folder on my Mac internal hard drive, but they do not show up when I actually open up Itunes.I have followed advice found on this website and have tried to move my iTunes folder to the external drive so all the music is in one place, but i keep getting an 'error code 50' message appearing.  I have also tried to select the individual songs on the hard drive and move them to the media folder but there are no 'albums' to move them into and they just sit there as individual songs.  I have a macbook air which is one year old and a WD My Passport ultra 1TB external hard drive.  I am using OSX version 10.9.5 with 8GB of memory.  As you can tell from my endeavours, I do not really understand the way iTunes works and it may be that the various songs and albums in the media folder need to be organised in a different way perhaps, so that they are visible when I open up iTunes?
As I have lots of space on my external hard drive and am running out of space on my Mac hard drive, ideally I would like all my iTunes folders to be held on my external drive, as it is always plugged in to my Mac, and for iTunes to be 'pointed' to the hard drive.   Any advice please?
    Thanks
    Elizabeth

All kinds of things going on.
About the error code.  Do you men "50" or do you mean "-50"?  It is critical things get reported exactly here.  Error -50 is a very unhelpful generic communications error with a number of possible causes.  Something between the drive to which you are downloading and the drive from which it is all coming is not working correctly, with probably dozens of possibilities.  I guess one simple possibility is if this is a brand new drive it likely came formatted for Windows use and needs reformatting for Mac.

Basic workings of iTunes.  When you add a file to iTunes it puts the file in a specific location designated in you Media Folder preferences setting and makes a note in a database file (library.itl) of where it put it.  When you want to play the track iTunes looks up where the file should be, goes there and plays that file.  iTunes does not inventory its media folder for new additions.  For iTunes to recognize tracks they have to be added to iTunes either by importing, dragging to iTunes, or dragging to the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.  If files added to iTunes are later moved by you in Finder, particularly to another drive, iTunes loses track of them completely and give you a broken link indicator " ! ".

I don't know exactly how Dropbox works but basically by moving all your files instead of letting iTunes do the relocating you have broken all the links to your older files in iTunes.  You can either repair them one by one, by one, by one....  or you can rebuild your library, or essentially create a new library and start over again (you did read those links I provided didn't you?).  If you are prepared to start over, hold down the option key while starting iTunes.  Create a new library on the external drive.  Drag all your media files to the Automatically Add to iTunes folder in the iTunes folder on that drive.

  • Updated my itunes software as requested online, cannot access my songs?

Updated my existing itunes software on my laptop as requested online and now I cannot access my songs from any of the itunes files?
When I click on a song it says; the song " "could not be located because the original file could not be found.
How do I get my songs back?

I charged & tried a different USB and got the same thing, but figured out that if I plug it in and then open iTunes rather than the other way around it recognises the device. Go figure! The playcount still doesn't update though But thanks for your advice anyway!

  • Cannot Access Itunes

Okay. I realize that itunes is busy with the Christmas rush. But, I've done everything listed in these forums and still cannot access itunes. People are saying they are getting in, intermittantly, but I've had no luck since Christmas Day when the new Nano crashed my itunes and I had to uninstall itunes and quicktime and reinstall. Since then, the music library is okay but I cannot get into the the itunes to download new program for the nanno (we purchased two of them and have had MAJOR problems and are ready to return them...) Previous to Christmas I was operating a Mini with no problmes. I've removed pop up lockers, flushed DNS settings Changed the windows system32 drivers to "localhost and phobos.apple.com". HELP!

What do you mean downloading new program for nano? I would just connect your nano ONE AT A TIME and then click the update button. And the iTunes STORE is the only thing that could be labelled at "busy". Other than that, I would just click the update or even restore button once the nano is connected.
    Cheers,
    Kelsey

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HT1904 I cannot access iTunes on my iPad. When I click the iTunes button, it shows terms and conditions and when I click the terms and conditions link, it takes me to the Internet and that is it. Kindly help.

I cannot access iTunes on my iPad. When I click the iTunes button, it shows terms and conditions and when I click the terms and conditions link, it takes me to the Internet and that is it. Kindly help.

If you are just seeing the Terms and Conditions link in the Downloads tab then that just means that there aren't any downloads waiting. If you want to browser the store then can are you not able to tap on the other tabs at the bottom of the app ?
If you are looking for your downloaded and synced content then they won't be in the iTunes app (that is just the store)  - your music, audiobooks and audio podcasts will be in the Music app and your films and tv shows in the Videos app.

  • TS3297 i cannot access itunes on my new ipad. Can anyone assist?

I cannot access itunes on my new ipad. Kindly someone assist?

Rather than a "bug" - it appears to be some bizarre issue with the Apple servers that has been going on for a few days now. Users have had a few different issues with the App Store and a couple of them seem to have been fixed, but now this issue has cropped in the last couple of days.
No matter what we call this - it is not a necessary procedure, it's just fluke thing that needs to be addressed by Apple. This is not normal protocol for downloading apps from the App Store.
