Cannot access iTunes Store and CPU @ 100% after 10.5 update
Had this issue on the previous version. Uninstalled all apple products, reinstalled and rebooted and got it working. This fix does not work this time. Windows7 ultimate 64-bit user. This is a huge issue. Apple developers please help us out - we need this to update to iOS 5.
Symptoms:
Launch iTunes
iTunes Status Bar halts halfway thru accessing the iTunes store
CPU spikes at 100% and holds there until iTunes closes
And if, for testing purpose only, you do a clean install of Windows, do all the updates and upgrades, (use Microsoft Security Essentials as it seems to do decent job and not interfere).
See if iTunes 10.5 works.
Add back and reinstall as needed. Stir, simmer, let sit.
Add or make changes one at a time gradually.
Clone OS drive to drive ($19 from Paragon, both drives are bootable, too) as you go along.
Yes, iTunes has caused me more lost sleep and frustration than anything I have in memory had to do or seen other than some huge one year projects moving data and systems to new hardware.

Hello,
I cannot access iTunes Store on apple TV2. I purchased a movie, but when i got to watch it after it shows up as "Rented" it just sits at the screen "Accessing iTunes Store". Never times, out or produces error message. Internet is working fine, my account is fine.
If i launch an iTunes Store Trailer, it plays fine. Just my rented material does not play. Also, my Netflix account does the same thing from Apple TV2. While accessing Netflix on my laptop there is no problem. ***!Having exactly the same problem. I have completed a reset, rebooted all my equipment and completed a software update, but after I have purchased 2 movies, and have them appear as "rented", I cannot get them to load without waiting a hour. Then, if I leave the movie, I have the same problem all over again. I also cannot access the iTunes store.

Cannot access iTunes Store and Sync
My computer times out every time I try to access the iTunes store. I bought a new iTouch and connected it and it still does the same thing.
Then try turning off the other firewalls. The built-in Windows firewall doesn't usually cause this.
I don't know what you have on your PC, so you'll have to figure that out yourself.

I have windows 8.1 and cannot access itunes store even creating a new apple id. With other users on the same computer I can access itunes store. How can I solve this?
i had the same problem before using a fresh install of Windows 8.1. I have resolved this issue by running the program compatibility wizard. This I did by right-clicking on the iTunes icon in the desktop, selecting Troubleshoot compatibility, waited for it to detect compatibility issues and when presented with the following options: 1.) Try recommended settings; 2.) Troubleshoot program, I chose the latter. When asked what problems I noticed, I checked the following: "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run" and "The program requires additional permission"
After that, it tired to resolve the issue, and provided the necessary settings to run iTunes. Now it's running flawlessly. I have Avast anti-virus installed though.

I cannot access iTunes store from my laptop. I could for years but suddenly - no.
Have removed all recently installed software. Have uninstalled and re-installed both my anti-virus software and iTunes.
Have allowed pop-ups.
Have flushed the DNS. Nothing.

(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

i am trying to access iTune store but keep on getting message "cannot access iTune store" i have reset my password several times and it didn’t help. My apple ID has been confirmed as correct. what can I do next?I am having the same issue! I see several people are having this problem, and I see there is no solution from Apple! Thank you...problem solved! Yes I was using the same name. The issue was really for me with downloading the updates for iPhone apps. I deauthorized all, and now am able to download the updates. And play purchased music. So I know I'm good with this machine, and with the others ones when they come up I'll authorize them. Thanks again.

Cannot access itunes store from itunes - says to check internet connection. I have internet connection. I've unistalled ALL itunes files and associated files, and reinstalled?
Try this:
1. Settings>General>Date & Time>Turn off set automatically
2. Set date one year ahead
3. Go back to iTunes and try again.
4. You will get the same error.
5. Go back to settings general date and time and turn back on 'set automatically'
Try connecting to iTune Store again. -
I have rented a movie on Itunes, it says i must download it, so i click to download it and all it does is say 'accessing Itunes store' and thats it, it says after downloading, check your purchased movies, i check, and nothing is there, please help?

Hi, I can't seem to get my ipod 32gb 4th gen to sync with itunes. It's brand new, but everytime I plug it in it says can't access Itunes store and nothing else happens. I enabled my firewall to allow itunes but it still can't access the store. Please help.
If you look at the feed, and look at the entry 'The end to an exciting field season in Aulavik National Park' you will see the line:
<pubDateFri, 29 Jul 2011 04:00:00 GMT</pubDate>
You have not closed the 'pubdate' tag - there should be a '>' as the 9th character. Because the tag has been left open, it invalidates everything which follows it, and thus the entire feed. iTunes therefore cannot read it, which is why the Store has not updated. Add the '>' and republish, and all should be well.
It's always worth checking your feed by subscribing manually, from the 'Advanced' menu, or by clicking the 'subscribe free' button on the Store page (both do the same thing) - if you can subscribe to the feed it should be OK. -

Since upgrading PC to v 11.1.2.31, (and perhaps phone/iPad to ios 7.0.3??), although I can access iTunes I cannot access iTunes Store via my PC to sign in. I keep getting the message to the effect "iTunes Store is busy. Please try later". I can sign in ok on my IPad and iPhone without difficulty.
I have followed all the Apple Support advice, I think. So far I have reinstalled the software, have checked the Firewall is not blocking iTunes, have rebooted the router several times (in all other respects the Internet is behaving normally), I have cleared the Local and Roaming cache etc.

Cannot access iTunes Store from iPhone 4. Message says 'Your iTunes password was incorrect. Please try again'. I have tried resetting the password on my macbook. What should I do?
I'm having the same problem as well. I use keychain access often to remind me of my passwords and was happy (initially) to see one for "iphone backup". When I entered it I got the same error message:
"The password you entered to unlock your iPhone backup file was incorrect. Please try again."
Really frustrating.
I searched many ways online, finally I tried "iPhone Backup Unlocker" to help me unlock encrypted backup password efficiently! -
