Cannot Access Network!
Yesterday, my phone tried to do the update. Update failed. I haven't been able to get network access ever since! Last night I plugged it into my computer and updated it, but that didn't fix it. I tried the troubleshooting steps online (taking out battery and sim and putting them back in, making sure airplane mode is off, data on, etc.) I still have nothing. I don't understand what's going on or how to fix it. I know I have 4G access here. After turning airplane mode on and off, I accessed it for a hot second, but now I'm back to no service. Any clues?
Hi! Thanks for the response. After posting this, I eventually did a live chat with a couple of Verizon agents. They figured out that the problem was my device ID was somehow lost when the software update failed. Since this was unable to be fixed, as the network no longer recognized my phone, I was sent a replacement phone. Bizarre problem, but I'm glad I was able to get a replacement!

I am trying to download itunes to windows 7 and keep getting the error message "cannot access network location $APPDATA%\." I have contacted an Apple advisor and was not able to resolve the problem. What to do?
Since this a problem pertaining to the iTunes application, you might have better luck posting this in the iTunes forum.

Unable to install/uninstall iTunes. "Cannot access network location"
I am unable to install a new version of iTunes. I receive an error message saying "Cannot access network location: []" where there [] is an Asian character. I receive the same error when trying to uninstall iTunes as well. Can anyone offer help?
The following is a link to a screenshot of the error message:

Cannot access networking settings in browser
Well, it is now December 8th, and no one has been able to tell me why I cannot access my printer's Networking information from its web page (in my case, the URL is http://192.168.2.123). I receive the following message:
The server 192.168.2.123:80 at HP Printer Networking@ requires a username and password.
Below that are two fields, one for a username, the other for a password.
I have tried the usual variety of username/password combinations with no success. What's going on here? Why am I being asked for a username and password when I never set them up to begin with? Why is HP silent about this? I asked about this way back in April. I really need an answer.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi,
Try the following.
Username admin
Password just leave this blank
Username root
Password just leave this blank
If this doesn't work try Admin for the username and again just leave the password blank.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
DP-K

Wifi clients get an address but cannot access network
Hello,
I have setup 1131 AP's which connect to a wlan controller 2106
The dhcp server is a windows 2003 server. All equipment is connected to inside lan, no vlans have been configured.
AP's are normally associated and wifi clients get an ip address from the windows dhcp server.
Strange thing however is that when you are connected to the wifi, you cannot access anything. Dns is configured properly and even when you enter an ip address of a website, I cannot reach it.
I have no idea what can be wrong. Is it that we use internally a 172.16.x.x /16 range and the wlan controller uses 172.16.2.x for both ap as management interface and the dhcp scope is 172.16.5.x /16. Same subnet.
Anybody a clue?
Thanks and regards,
Ralph Willemsen

Cannot access network shares on AD domain
I've joined my mac to an AD domain (over vpn tunnel). I used the Directory Access app and when I did a "bind" to the domain all seemed to go well.
However when I try to access a network share using the "Connect to Server" menu item:
smb://server/share
I get this error:
The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in...could not be read or written. (Error code -36)
Ok I've tried googling this error message. Could someone tell me what this means? Could you point me to documentation on how to do what I'm doing? Can you access the share while in the office?
Can you access the share by using the servers IP address instead of name? -
Preview isn't worth much after Lion & Cannot access network Server
I updated to Lion and found two very annoying issues:
I can not access my network server
Preview have now lost all its previous capabilities, because now you can not:
Delete pages in a multiple pdf document.
It crashes when trying to print.
You now struggle to combine pdf documents into one.
Menu changed and is now very confusing as to save a version, duplicate or export!
Since the days of my first mac, a 512K with dual floppies, this is the first time that I am really dissappointed with an upgrade!
F LorenzoHere it is!

After upgrading my wife's Mac mini G4 to Tiger she cannot connect to network shared drives. When clicking on Connect on a network machine I get the message that the alias could not be opened because the original item cannot be found. I have the option to delete the alias or fix it. When trying to delete it I am told that I do not have the required permissions for the operation. When clicking on fix alias I get the Finder browser, I don't know where to browse to.
Any help will be appreciated.
BTW, I am a recent switcher so not very clued up with OS X yet.
Cobushave you the same problem?

I cannot access network files from Captivate 6 Trial
I downloaded the trial version of Captivate 6 for evaluation. My company stores our data on a server. When I try to open a file Captivate does not have an option to go to the server, which in this case is set up as my Z drive. All my other Adobe programs work fine. We have a much, much older version of Captivate that is on another computer and it works fine. The trial version will open any files I have on my laptop but not from the network. I can't even see them in the Captivate open file menu. If I open the folder where the files are stored and right click and "open with" I can get the file to open, howevr I get an error saying that some of the features may not function well because I don't have administrator privilages and I should close and open the program with "run as administrator". Is there a setting that I missed? If it is a case where all the files must be stored locally for Captivate to see them, this will not be a viable option for our company.
I run an Alienware M15x Running Windows 7 64bit.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. As far as the replay function. Captivate does not have a simple button that allows for a slide to replayed from the beggining should a person need to. For example (just in case my explination is not very good), we have slides that include animations that were created in Flash. The slides also include audio. There is no simple way, at least not on that is listed anywhere that we can find, and we have searched for days, by where you can simply insert a button that will start the slide over and replay the animation as well. I mean a "simple" solution. It can be done with coding and manipulation of the flash files, and the creation of our own buttons. This method is just more work than I would expect for what should be a very standard feature. Any good, anc Captivate is by no means a horrible program, and I am still on the upside of the learning curve here, any good learning course allows for the student to replay a slide just in case they need to hear something twice or four times. If you know of a very simple way of doing this, there are tons of folks out there that would love to know. On Adobe's own forums the solution most suggested was to insert a blank slide before the slide animation and have your button go to the previous slide. We did find a way to accomplish this but it takes a bit of coding and the use of a widget to do. The issue is that it is not consistant. Sometimes it works other times it does not. This may be because of the network issues with Captivate. I am trying to get it downloaded to a desktop and see if that will solve the problem, but the download has failed so I won't know for a while yet.
For the network thing, I don't doubt what you say at all, as far as the program needed the files locally. It just seems, especially in the year 2012 (almost 2013) that this is an issue. I have the entire Adobe CS6 suite as well as CS4 Creative Suite and have not had a single issue with any one of those programs funtion with the files stored on a different machine. Agreed, if we want to use Captivate we must use it the way you have suggested, it just seems like they would have designed it so folks could work over networks easier. It is not a matter of NOT being Willing to work this way, it is a matter of needing to be more efficiant and share data between several folks working on the same projects.
Thanks again for your help. -
Cannot access wifi since upgrading to ios5.1
I upgraded to IOS5.1 this morning. iphone 4S was fine, but ipad wifi did not reappear on completing the upgrade and when I enter my password, it says cannot access network. None of the details of the network are listed except for the DNS and I can't manually enter them. Anyone have any ideas or similar problems?
I'm seeing the same problem. Running iOS 5.0.1 both my original iPad and my iPad 2 were rock-solid on my WiFi network. Since upgrading to 5.1 neither device is able to connect for more than a few minutes. Device connects on a reboot or when resetting the WiFi settings but after a minute or two the network just disappears and the iPad says it's unable to connect. My iPhone 4 and 4S both work fine on the network with 5.1. This issue appears restricted to iPads.
Is Apple aware of this issue? -
Hi,
starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
\\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
\\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
Any ideas?

>>The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share
It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve
the share correctly.
If it's very hard to change the settings of the DNS for some reason, as a work around, we can add the entry into the clients' hosts file.
Best Regards.

I recently unlocked my iphone 4. I am trying to use it on Net 10's network. However, i cannot access the network settings. I have the Net10 Sim already in it. A few notes listed below of what i have tried:
1.) I downloaded the iphone configuation utility. But cannot get the right settings to apply. (so if you have the correct ones i could use those)
2.) i have watched 1000 youtube videos and been on practically every page online and tried 1000 different versions of APN settings through the configuration
3.) I do not have another SIM card from another carrier to try.
Open to suggestions on how i can get the APN settings to change. Not worried about picture messaging or anything, but would like my internet to work. Calls and text work fine.i have seen this option..problem being...i dont have access to WIFI i live in the middle of ten buck too! We cant even get internet out here i have to go a friend house to get internet. I was going to try that once i did get to town but was looking for other options here at home frist.

hello - my ipod touch worked well until a couple of months of non-use. Now, I cannot access the internet thru my wifi. All my other devices have no such problem. I have tried resetting wifi, "forgetting network" turning wifi off and on....nothing works....can anyone help?
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
