Cannot access photos inside of event

So my sister has a Macbook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion, and for some strange reason decided to go with a Windows phone instead of an iPhone when AT&T offered her a phone upgrade. She decided to go with the Samsung Focus SGH-i1719, and she's regretted it ever since.
While using Windows Phone Connector for Mac to sync the phone to the Mac successfully, the way the Windows program copied the files is somewhat strange. All of her pictures from the phone that were copied off and transferred to the Mac are in iPhoto. Fair enough, but I can't access them. An event in iPhoto was created called "Camera Roll" which contains the camera roll from her phone. Underneath the event, the date range of the pictures and the number of photos are displayed. According to this, there are 219 photos in the Camera Roll event. However, whenever I double-click the event to access the photos, the only ones I see are 8 photos. Where are the rest of them, and how can I get to them? I do see them when I mouse over the event in iPhoto, but that's all.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to the library:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Cannot access photos in photo stream folder

PS Touch on my iPad iOS 8.2 cannot access photos in the photo stream folder.  They appear as blank boxes.  Why?  The photo stream folder contains photos that are shared across devices.  The photo stream folder appears in the app but when opened blank boxes appear where the photos should be.  After doing a search, I see this has been an ongoing problem for other users & uninstalling/reinstalling does not fix the issue.  The workaround is to copy the photos into Camera Roll then import them from there.  Does Adobe plan to address this issue in a future update?

Using mountain lion operating system, downoaded iphoto 9.4 update, aperature 3.4.3 update and still cannot access photo stream.  now what??

With Aperture, you should be able to use Photo Stream now, but you need iPhoto 9.4.2 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1608
After updating iPhoto to the latest version, open System Preferences > iCloud and tick Photo Stream. Finally, you will have to turn on Photo Stream on iPhoto and Aperture choosing Photo Stream on the sidebar of both programmes

  • Cannot drag photos from one event to another-

I cannot drag photos between events following the instructions in Help and I cannot drag photos to any album new or otherwise.
This version seems to be not all that great…
    Regards,
    Andrew Shlapak

    Andrew
I've been using Apple products since '74.
    Wow.
I cannot find the photos from another app; i.e., tried to look for the iPhoto folder and found instead an iPhoto file. When the file is selected, selected iPhoto opens. This file must be the phots -- it's 5 GB!
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.
Finally, you can drag and drop pics from the iPhoto Window to the addressbook - and many other applications.
    When you say:
I cropped a photo in iPhoto and the original disappeared!
Can you describe exactly where this happened?
You create new topics in the Forum - Installing and Using iPhoto 08, in this case. The link is up there. You can't create a new topic in a thread.

  • Apps cannot access photos

iPad Air 1, 128gb memory, newest IOS as of April 11, 2015
Many of my apps cannot access my photo library when I want to import them through the app menu. I have reset photos through the settings app. I have checked through the restrictions section as well. I have closed everything open, restarted my iPad, and opened only the app I am trying to access the photo library with, zero results.
Although, I must add that the Apple Pages app works fine, as do other Apple apps.
Example of the situation... I open ArtStudio and go to file/import from photos... it opens the photos selection menu briefly for approx 2 seconds and then closes the screen and reverts back to the apps folder. ArtStudio remains open, and I can double click the home button to access it, but it will not allow me to access my photos app/folders. I have found this to be the same problem on a number of apps I purchased. Any suggestions would be very very welcome.

    Hello DrSchubert,
If you are experiencing issues with apps having access to your photos, I would try resetting the settings on your iPhone. It will not delete any content, but put all settings, like wallpaper, ringtone and the permissions for apps to access content that is on your iPhone. To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings. For more information take a look at the link below.

  • Cannot access photo gallery

Have had phone for six months, no problem accessing photo gallery.  Now, when I click on the gallery widget, the gallery will not come up.  I have turned phone off and on, still will not work.  Thoughts?
Also, how do I know if the Gingerbread update is on our phones?  My wife and I have been experiencing some random issues the past few days---issues we didn't have previously.
    Thanks.

re: Photo Gallery --  if launching of the Gallery just closes, it is most likely due to a corrupted file in the Gallery. You can do a Search in this forum for other suggestions and methods to fix it ... but when I had this problem, I just plugged into my computers USB port and MOVED my images from the phone to my computer, then 1 by 1 viewed them - looking for the culprit. Thn copied the remaining ones back - or just the ones I really wanted.
Also, you can download the free app called 3D Gallery - it seems to be able to deal with corrupted images better than the stock gallery.
    Good luck.

  • Can't access photos inside iPhoto Library

    Hi
When I go to advanced / Chose Photos To Share i get directed to the files in the Finder - from which location I cannot use the 'Show Package Contents' facility to unbundle iPhoto Library into its constituant folders - to then select the folders in iPhoto I want to select for Apple TV. Can anyone tell me how I can access my photos bundled within iPhoto Library via the 'Chose Photos To Share' command in iTunes?
    Grateful for any suggestions here

Thanks Winston but no cigar! get it? Ha ha.... sorry...but I already did that and all I could access were the files outside of the 'iPhoto Library' file which obly accounts for a small % of my photos.

  • 2 macs running ML and iphoto 11 - one mac cannot access photos

We have 2 macs (I also have an iphone).  They are both running ML and I bought Iphoto 11 for both of us.  I can log on to my computer and get into icloud and see all of my pictures.  My computer has no issues and works well....I have enabled both checkmarks for sharing in photostream.  I log on with MY apple ID and password and see all additions to my pictures taken with the iphone.
When I try to get my husband's machine to work, I log onto HIS account and I can see typical Icloud stuff...so he can access Icloud.  My problem is that I have enabled Photo Stream on his computer; have checked the boxes for share with others and share.  I have enabled everything I can.  I have gone to System Preferances in Cloud to make sure all settings are correct.
Every time I want to enable photostream/iphoto to cloud - I get an message saying he has to log into his Cloud account - but he IS logged in.  I can see it.  Also it says that Iphoto cannot get into his Cloud account - check System Preferances.  but everything there is OK.
It does say I can 'reset' Icloud but then it says "are you sure? you'll lose everything"....so I haven't pushed that last button.   Do I just reset?  It should pick up all of his information again right?  The problem is I have to airdrop any pictures to him and he does it for me - and we shouldn't have to do that with cloud.  We both have our own apple id accounts - which I verified.
Also, I don't want to share ALL of our information - just the pictures and I want him to be able to get MY Iphone pictures and well as my getting his.  (He doesn't have an iphone yet but he'll be getting one soon.)  Right now he depends on MY Iphone pictures - goes to my icloud which I have shared with him.  He should be getting these with no problem - except his account seems to be corrupted.
Seems there is a glitch with his icloud iphoto connection.  What is procedure to fix this?

To share pictures, you can always set up a "Shard Photo Stream" by using the tips below:
    Set up on Mac:
    1) Open iPhoto
    2) On the left toolbar, select "Photos"
    3) Select all the photos you want to share
    4) Select "Share" at the bottom left of the window
    5) Click Photo Stream
    6) Here you can add them to an existing Photo Stream or create a new one
For a new one, just finish following the on screen instructions
Set up on iOS device (requires 6.0 or later):
    1) Go to the Photos app
    2) Select "Photos" from the toolbar at the top
    3) Click "Edit" at the top right
    4) Select the photos you wish to share
    5) Click "Share"
    6) Click "Photo Stream"
    7) Here you can add the selected photos to an existing Photo Stream or create a new one.
For a new one, follow the rest of the on screen instructions
    For the log in problem:
Make sure all software is up to date on his Mac by going to Apple logo>Software Update.  If you are running 10.7 (Lion) or earlier, it will open a separate window to check for software.  If you are running 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or later it will open the Mac App Store to check for updates.
Once it is all updated, if you have the same problems, make sure all of his info is in iCloud by going to iCloud.com and confirming it is there.  If it is, go to System Preferences>iCloud and log out.  When it asks you if you would like to keep the data on your Mac select no.  It will bring up about 5 dialogs wanting to know the same thing for different applications.  Once he is all logged out, restart the computer.
When it turns back on, go to System Preferences>iCloud and turn it back on.  This should fix the problem.

  • Dropbox cannot access photo library

Accidentally, I denigned Dropbox access to my iPod Photo Library and now I cannot save a Dropbox image in it.  Is there a way to reset Access to the Photo Library?
    Thank you,

If you are on iOS 5 like it says above go to settings location services and turn the switch to on beside the app.
If you are on iOS 6 go to settings privacy photos and turn the app Dropbox to on

  • I cannot access Photos through the album app.

My Photo Album cannot be accessed through the album as it is hidden up behind the title.....I can slide it down to see it, but it won't let me view it. I have to go through my camera and view them that way. Can anyone help????

I had the exact same problem. Here is how I was able to fix it:
Double click the home button on your iPhone
Scroll over along the icons on the bottom of your screen until you see the Photos icon button
Press and hold the Photos icon until all icons along the bottom begin to wiggle
Click the red circle atop the left side of the icon and hte Photos icon will disappear
    Hit the home button again
Click the normal photos icon and you should be able to access your photos just fine
    Hope this helps!

  • Cannot access photos on the phone - iPhone 3G 16GB

    Hi there
I am no longer able to access the photos on my phone - even though I have a suspicion they still exist. Background info as follows:
I was transferring photos from my iPhone 3G recently to my WinXP PC at work, I had about 200-odd photos (quite a few of which I wanted to keep), and the phone rebooted part-way through and stopped transferring. I got about 15 of my 200 photos. From memory, the Windows transfer wizard also froze. I read up on a few threads in this forum about the phone rebooting, but they didnt seem to help (unless i didnt find the right thread).
The problem I have is this:
I can no longer access the photos on the phone. If I go into the Photos from the home screen, I get "No photos. You can take photos using the camera or load photos onto your iPhone using iTunes" - much like there are no photos.
However, i'm suspicious they still exist, because occasionally i'll come across something in my phone that still displays one. Contacts - sure, because they're in the contact file. But surely things like my background/wallpaper arent, and that still currently shows a photo that was in my photo album.
In addition, the iPhone no longer appears as a camera device on my work computer, or my home computer, so something is obviously wrong. It just doesnt pop up. It does however show in iTunes, so the connection is fine.
I'm also looking forward to upgrading to iPhone OS 3.0 on public release, but should I hold off? Is this likely to extinguish any remaining existence of my photos when it updates?
I saw suggestions (via Google) of the photos being in a differently numbered folder - 999APPLE or similar that i'd be able to access via SFTP, SSH, etc. but these all seemed to apply to Jailbroken phones, which mine isn't, and I don't intend it to be.
Please help! I may have a few family members wanting to kill me if some of those photos are gone! All suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the discussions,
If you did not backup or sync your phone afterwards or have an old backup of your phone, your pictures are probably gone. And only photos taken with the phone would be part of the backup, in reduced quality, as all photos are optimized for viewing on the phone.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    On Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    On Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • Cannot access photos in iPhoto through Finder

I recently upgraded to iLife 8 from 7 because of a hard drive crash.
If I open Finder to look for a picture, and I click on the iPhoto Library, it opens up iPhoto, instead of showing me the folder in Finder.
Also, if I want to upload a picture file from my iPhoto library to the internet (i.e. an e-mail attachment), I can't, because I can't click on the iPhoto Library folder to open up the pictures.
Any ideas on how to change this? In the previous version I had, it would open like any other folder with files in it. That's what I want to happen again.

    cpops
With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
It has never been the correct way to access the files by rooting through the iPhoto Library Folder - there are no user serviceable parts there and any time you do you risk damaging the Library.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
All of the above are faster and safer than rooting through the folders.

  • So, I updated my iPhoto to the new version and lost all the photos inside my events

How can I get all my photos back to my events?  After updating iPhoto to its newest version all my events are there, but they are empty.  How can I get them back?

The easiest way would be to get the backup library made just before you updated and try again. Other that that give this a try: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Cannot access photo library

I have a new iPad3g which I have synced to my iMac G5. I have elected to sync photos from my Aperture. When I touch the photo icon I get the message "Please Wait Updating Library" accompanied by the spinning wheel. The problems is it never updates and after a minute or so it reverts to the desktop page. Has anyone had this problems and what is the solution?

Interestingly, when I go to settings, brightness & wallpaper I have the opportunity to open photo library and there are all my photos from Aperture so the images are stored in iPad but it is not possible to access them through the main photo application

  • Cannot enlarge photos in either Events or Photos

After creating a new iPhoto library I imported my photos. They show up in both Events and Photos, but when I click on them, I only get a black screen and the photos are at the bottom in thumbnail format.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
