Cannot access Printer Properties

I have quite a few users who are having a problem when they try to print from FF 22.0. When they try to print a webpage, email, document, etc. and go into the Properties for the printer to change it from Letter to Legal, or Legal to Letter, the item will not print. I've reset the printer in about:config and that didn't help. If I go into the prefs.js and remove the printers, close FF and reopen that helped, however the next day, I get another call from the users w/ the same issue. Is there a fix, or workaround? I don't really have time to edit the prefs.js file every day for 100+ employees.
Thank You for any help.

Nothing I can see. This is on a Citrix environment as well, so all users are using the same version of FF and same plug-ins, but not all users seem to be affected. I'm looking at printer drivers to see if there could be something there.

Accessing the printer properties page fails in all instances. Some programs just crash with no error message, others do not crash, yet give the error: "C:\Windows\Splwow64.exe Function address 0x3506b9e2 caused a protection fault (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property pages may not be displayed" I have gone through the steps outlined here with no success. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/hp-laserjet-1536dnf-MFP-printer-properties-window-flashes/td-p/3086811 I should note that I can still print...I just cannot access the printer property pages under any circumstances. Also, attempting to access printer properties via control panel > devices and printers crashes Windows explorer. Accessing printing preferences from the same location does nothing. Will not open. Thank you.

  • Administrator cannot change printer properties on "Advanced" tab from "Devices and Printers" on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hello, dear Colleagues.
User with administrators rights cannot change printer properties on "Advanced" tab from "Devices and Printers" on Windows Server 2012 R2.
If to launch "Devices and Printers" on server, all printer properties on "Advanced" tab are inactive (see screen below).
But I can change it manually with "Print Management". Features become active.
The main purpose - to uncheck "Enable advanced printing features"  with powershell
    scripts.
    $erroractionpreference = "continue"
$colPrinters = Get-Wmiobject -Class win32_printer -computername print_server -Filter "Name like 'printer1' or Name like 'printer2' or Name like 'printer3' or Name like 'printer4' or Name like 'printer5' or Name like 'printer6'" # get printers on server and filter with names
ForEach ($objPrinter in $colPrinters) { # get printer details from WMI
If ($objPrinter.RawOnly -ne "True") { # check that Advanced printing fetaures is turned on
    Write-host $objPrinter.Name
    Write-Host $objPrinter.RawOnly
$objPrinter.RawOnly = "True" # Untick and update the object in WMI
    $objPrinter.Put()
It works on Windows 7 workstation, but does not on print server Windows Server 2012 R2 with error
Exception calling "Put" with "0" argument(s): "Generic failure "
    At \\print_server\c$\DisableAdvancedPrintingFeatures.ps1:8 char:17
    + $objPrinter.Put()

Can you help me with that? Look like somethings with rights.
    Thank you.

    Hello, Alan
    Morris.
    Thanks for your reply.
I've tried to runs PS Script both locally and remotely, previously running Powershell ISE as Administrator.
I've noticed interesting thing - if to
    check "Enable advanced printing features"
manually thru Print Management snap-in, script works fine. But, time to time after some manipulations on print server, this advanced feature returns to enabled state automatically by system, I think. In this case PS Script does not work. Next, if to disable
feature manually again (thru Print Management snap-in),
and enable manually again, PS Script will work. Very strange situation.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot change printer properties when printing PDF files in IE8

Whenever I try to print a PDF file displayed within IE8,  I cannot change the printer properties from the print dialogue box.  the properties button appears as if it as if it is active because it visually confirma a click; however no properties dialogue box appears.  printing html from IE8 works fine.
If I save the PDF to desktop and print from there, I can change properties fine.
Running Win7/64; IE8 (32 bit version).  Another PC in the household, also running Win7/64 and IE8/32 does not exhibit this problem.
Printer is Officejet 6500 E709a connected to local workgroup via ethernet cable; I have uninstalled via add remove programs and reinstalled the printer software from the HP CD.  It did not help.

I cannot access 'properties' for my hp1536dnf mfp.

  • Cannot change Printer Properties in Word 2010 with J6480. Properties revert to default setting

When I attempt to change Printer Properties in Word 2010, they simply revert back to the default setting.  I am unable to use the Printer Properties within the Word 2010.  If the default is grayscale, that is all the printer will print unless I change the default setup in the Control Panel. It appears to be an incompatibility with Office 2010 software as other programs allow the change of Printer properties.

I have the exact identical problem.  Brand new printer (HP PhotoSmart C4780) on a brand new PC (Windows 7).  I cannot access the printer properties dialog box when the PDF file has been opened in an embedded Adobe Viewer window in Internet Explorer.
When I select [Print] from Word or Adobe Viewer, or anywhere else, I can then press the [Properties] button and it opens the printer properties just fine.
But if I open a PDF document through Internet Explorer, clicking on that [Properties] button doesn't do anything.  No error or anything.  If I press the [Save] in the Adobe Acrobet-embedded Internet Explorer window, it too does nothing.  This leads me to think it is an Adobe Acrobat issue.  However, I have found nothing in their support forums on this topic.
Does anyone out there have any ideas?
    Scott

  • Cannot access Print Options

Im trying the Aperture 2.1 trial before buying the product. I like the editing features of the software but havent been able to print an image yet since, for some reason, I cannot access the printer options through the program. I am using an iMac with the latest software updates, and a Canon 6700D printer which works fine with anything and everything else including iPhoto. When I get ready to print and image, I open File> and then Print Image since Print is grayed out. When I click on Print Image I get a Screen that has Printer Settings as an option where I could specify Media, Quality etc. However, When I Click Printer Settings, nothing happens. Anyone have any thoughts about this? I don't want to buy the program without looking at the out put.

Bu sure you have the latest system update if you’re working with leopard. There has been an antremediate Security Update that lead to exactlyte problem you described and was fixed with the latest system update.
    Cheers

  • Firefox crashes when trying to access Printer Properties

I have a Dell AIO Printer A920. I have never had printing problems with Firefox until I upgraded to Firefox 4. I am having a few problems now. The whole page is not printing anymore even though it is set to Shrink to Fit. I have to adjust the scale in order to get everything and sometimes this does not work either. On Print Preview I only get one or two pages even though the printing job would be four or five pages. In other words, parts of the whole document are missing. What is happening more also is that when I click Print and the Print box come on with my printer's name, if I click print, it would print but if I click on Properties to adjust the settings, I get the error message: Function address OxO caused a protection fault. (exception code Oxc0000005) The application property sheet pages(s) may not function property Then If I click OK, Firefox crashes. I can print OK and go into the properties box with no crashes or error messages from Internet Explorer. I rarely use Explorer because I love Firefox. This tells me that nothing is wrong with my printer but that something is preventing the printer from working properly with Firefox. I can also print from my Adobe Reader documents with no problems.
Could you please help. It would be greatly appreciated.
    Amy
PS: I have been searching in the meantime and the only solution seems to be to remove Firefox 4 and download it again. I am afraid to do this and loose my information. I have hundreds of bookmarks that I use all of the time.

Here is a report of some of my crashes since downloading Firefox 4. I could not fit all of them in here. I had over 26,000 characters and maybe 100 crashes.

  • Windows 7 32-bit and accessing printer properties

A cheque printing device (an HP LaserJet P3005 PCL6 / Troy MICR printer) is installed on a Windows 7 PC and shared.  The printer is installed as a local printer on a Windows Server
2008 Standard R2 server with its port configured to the share name on the PC.
When printing a file from, say, Notepad on the server, the job goes on to the queue, but the printer shows as “Needs troubleshooting” and the job doesn’t print.  Restarting the server’s
Print Spooler server service makes it print.
The same printer is also installed as a local printer on another server that’s running under Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, and printing from there works fine.
I suspect that there’s a communication problem between the Windows 7 PC and the Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 server.
I’ve tried to access the printer’s configuration on the Windows 7 PC to look at its “SNMP Status Enabled” setting, but get “An error occurred during port configuration.  This operation is
    not supported”.
Is the SNMP status the issue here?  Is there a solution?

    Hi,
When did this issue happen? Did it work fine previously? Is the printer shown as online or offline?
Regarding to "SNMP Status Enabled", some printing issues can be caused by this option, you can find more infromation in the link below
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775439(v=ws.10).aspx
    and the discussion:

This update has fixed some printer performance issue, I suggest you install this update and check if it can make any difference

  • Cannot access printer options

We recently purchased an iMac with OS X Leopard and installed two printers - Epson CX4200 and R1900. Both drivers seem to have installed properly however, we have no access to advanced printing options like print quality, additional media sources like the roll feeder on the R1900, and custom color options usually available in a seperate Epson window. We followed the Help instructions to go to system preferences and printer driver window to select the options available but no options appear. The status monitor and utilities seem to work fine, but none of the options seem to be recognized by the operating system. Any ideas?

Kappy: I am having the same problem with my Epson 740i printer and also with PageSender on my iMac Intel 24 OS 10.5.5. The Epson driver is there and I am able to use the utility to see ink levels etc. But when I use an application such as Pages or AW and go File>Print my printer shows up and will print if I click the Print button but if I click the Presets button no printer options are available, just Standard.

  • Deskjet 6988 print cartridge "gate" -- Cannot access print cartridges

This printer has been giving me excellent service for many years, so I'm not surprised that it may be getting a bit wonky. Still, any advice would be most appreciated!
Lately, this "gate" has been popping up, preventing me from accessing the print cartridges:
It seems to be saying "turn off the printer," or maybe "turn it off and turn it back on again," which would make sense, because that would force it to do its little dance and reset itself. MOST of the time, this doesn't do any good. The cartridges just sit there, and the gate remains.
However sometimes turning it off and on does cause the mechanism to move, and the gate goes up and down, and sometimes stays down.
I haven't seen any references to this "gate" in the manual. Does anyone know what it's called?
Is there a way to force the printer to reset and drop the gate? A factory reset didn't work.
    Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I came up with a work-around! This was driving me completely nuts, so putting this out there in case it helps anyone:
In my case, doing a cartridge re-align does the trick, temporarily, or just enough so that I can replace an empty cartridge. Use your printer's utility software to do that.
After doing that, when I open the lid to see if the gate is down, I see that it is in fact down. However, when I close the lid, the machine shuffles around a bit and raises the gate, as confirmed by lifting the gate a second time. But to lower the gate, I just have to do a cartridge re-align. : )

  • Help!  I cannot access "printer settings" dialogue...

For some reason, when trying to print with my Epson 3880, the print dialogue pulldown menu does not have a "printer settings" menu available.  Weirdly enough, it shows up for my Artisan 810.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. Do you have restrictions on? If so, that would prevent you from making changes in some areas of the iPhone.

  • Laptop cannot access printer

I have a WRT54GS router. I have a printer connected to my main computer. I am able to print from my laptop until I set up WEP wireless security, I have the MAC address of the laptop entered in the MAC filter list. When I try to print from the laptop I get a message "unable to connect". Any suggestion on what I may be doing wrong?

  • Cannot Access print-manager Interface In KDE

    Hello all,
First of all, I have print manager installed. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem still persists. The problem is that no matter what I do, there is no option in the System Settings app on KDE to manage printers. I realise that I can just use the CUPS interface, but that leaves a lot to be desired for me.
I have spent hours scouring the web for any information on this, and it appears that the most common reason for this problem is that people don't have print-manager installed in the first place. That is definitely not the reason I'm having the problem, however.

  • Print properties fail, Dell A920 printer. I require B&W prints only

I cannot access print properties on my Dell A920 printer so as to select B & W prints only. Their is no error on the older Firefox 3.6 and MS Explorer, and my printer works fine with these browser systems
My error message reads on the current Firefox browser:
function address caused a protection fault (exception code OxCo0000005) The application sheet pages may not function properly.

The ColorSync setting will not change the color or b&w setting. There must be another menu where you can select color or b&w.
In theory this setting would be located in the same location on both Mac's. But if you used a CD to install the 10.6 driver versus downloading the 10.7 driver from Apple, then the color setting could located under different menus.

    Try resetting the printing system:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next try deleting the system and reinstall the printer..
