  • Cannot access purchased music in iTunes

    Hello all,
I just purchased an iPhone 5, 32 GB. I restored from a previous iCloud backup which seemed to go well. I noticed that some of my songs would not play. The album art displayed, but the songs would not play and skip to another. I read online that the best solution to this problem is to delete those songs from your device, and re-download them by accessing "Purchased" items through the iTunes app. I did this for several of the non-working songs and it worked great.
I noticed several songs by one band in particular (Depeche Mode) were not playing, so I deleted them all off my device. I then went to "Purchased" items in iTunes to re-download them, but now I see a loading graphic that freezes, and the albums/singles are not displayed. All of the other artists seem to work just fine, but for some reason, none of my previously purchased Depeche Mode songs are displayed.
I have 124 items from that group, and really want them on my new phone. Anyone else have this issue?
I am wondering if a solution to my problem would be to connect my phone to my computer and sync, but I would prefer to not do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    -Daniel

You enable iTunes Match on your iPad by making sure your are signed into the Apple ID you used to subscribe in iTunes Match in Settings>iTunes & App Stores, then turning iTunes Match and Show All Music to On.
Also, iTunes Match doesn't use your iCloud storage plan so you don't need to purchase a storage upgrade to use it.

  • Both myself and my wife have 2 separate iTunes accounts, I subscribe to iTunes Match. Music purchased on my wife's account appear on our computers iTunes library but my iPad cannot access the music she has purchased. Is there any way to overcome this

The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.

  • HT1911 I have reset my Apple ID & Password but I still cannot access the music I purchased using another computer, ID & PW. It keeps saying that my computer is not authorize to play the songs. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Help!

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

  • I cannot access my music via itunes match

It has never worked well, accessing music has taken approx 2-3 minutes - slow enough that I have chosen to switch itunes match off.  However, yesterday I ried again (I figured initital problems might be resolved).  The problem is worse - I cannot access any music on my iphone via itunes match.
It is truly the worst purchase I have ever made.

Here's a list of specific error codes & there resolution:

Try recovery mode again, as outlined in the first article I gave you. Make sure there are no Firewalls turned on or any Anti-Virus software running. If it errors out again, pay attention to any code shown.

  • Moved iTunes library to an ext hard drive to make space on my int drive... Followed steps from apple.  Now I cannot access my music... It says: "File could not be used because the original file cannot be found.  Would you like to locate it?"

Moved iTunes library to an ext hard drive to make space on my int drive... Followed steps from apple.  Now I cannot access my music... It says: "File could not be used because the original file cannot be found.  Would you like to locate it?"
I moved my iTunes library to my external hard drive some time ago and I followed the directions listed here on the apple support page.  It did copy my library and now is on my hard drive... I can open iTunes and use it to sync all of my devices but I would like to play my music... I can see all of my music files but can not play them if I click on an album or song it says the following:  "(file name) could not be used because the original file cannot be found.  Would you like to locate it?"  I click locate but do not know where to go from there?  I need a way to access all files and not to hunt down one at a time on my hard drive... I am pretty sure I deleted the original library to make space on my internal drive which was the reason for moving it.  I have tried and tried to fix it and do not have a lot of time to do so with a one and two year old at my house who do not like it whenI sit down at my computer.  What to do???  Any help is much appreciated!!!

See Make a split library portable. Move all of the bits of the library together in the the correct shape and it should work. Or undo exactly what you did and then start over.
If you're a former Windows user don't try merging two folders together that have the same name by dropping one into the same folders as the other, as that goes badly on a Mac.

  • I just got an iPod touch.  Now I cannot access my music on my Nano when it is connected to my computer (all the titles are in gray).  How do I fix this?

I just got an iPod touch.  Now I cannot access my music on my Nano when it is connected to my computer (all the titles are in gray).  How do I fix this?

That sounds like you've engaged one of the automatic syncing options for your nano.
Plug the nano in, and go into the Device screen for the nano in itunes. Is "manually manage ..." unchecked? If so, check the box for it, and click okay. Disconnect and reconnect the nano. Is the content on the nano able to be selected in your iTunes now?

  • Cannot access matched music on iPhone- "not subscribed"

After setting up iTunes match on my mac, and going through the (3 day) successful matching process, I cannot access my music on my iPhone.  Both devices are running the latest software version.  When I activate the "iTunes Match" functionality on my iPhone, I get a message saying that I need to subscibe, even though I've already subscibed via iTunes on my mac.  My computer is authorized in iTunes and everying is associated with my iCloud (old MobileMe) account. Does anybody have any suggestions?

That's normal (that the music is grayed out). Click the EYEfone icon, then the Summary tab (along the top) - if you want to manually manage music, check the box. Else, click the Music tab (along the top, not in the list on the left), then select the box to sync music, and select playlists or All music, then click Sync.

  • Cannot access purchased apps after reinstall and ID change

I had a security breach on my mac, so I reloaded and reinstalled my OS and changed my apple ID, now I cannot access purchased apps from the app store.  I can access the ones I did not purchase, it just applies to the ones I bought.  Any ideas how to retrieve them?

OK, and when you say you cannot access purchased apps, I need to know what you mean by that. Where are you trying to access them? What happens when you try to access them? If you are getting some sort of error message, what is it (exactly).
    Cheers,

  • Deactivated all computers and reactivated 1 computer. still cannot transfer purchased music.

Deactivated all computers. Reactivated 1 computer. Cannot transfer purchased music because itunes Stores says i still have 5 computers activated already.

If you did not already, I would try quitting iTunes and launching it again (or even restarting your computer because part of iTunes may keep running even when you quit iTunes).  Also, if you used the Deauthorize All command from the button on the Account Information screen (as described in my earlier reply), it's possible that Apple's server database needs to get updated in a way that is not immediate.  So I would try waiting a few hours and then try to authorize your laptop again.
Question:  You said you "reactivated" your laptop.  Does that mean it was already one of your authorized computers before you gave the Deauthorize All command?  Or is this a new computer that has never been authorized with your Apple ID (iTunes Store account)?
NOTE:  Only older 128 kbps songs purchased from the iTunes Store had DRM, so if this song is a recent purchase (without DRM), it should play whether the computer is authorized for the Apple ID or not.

  • Music app is stuck in the store.....cannot access my music library

My music app is stuck in the store and I cannot access my music library.  Any suggestions?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Cannot access my music library

Since when I made a subscription to iTunes Match most of time I cannot access my music library on iTunes. The titles in iTunws appear clear gray and they cannot be played. What can I do?

Unless you rented the movies on ATV I do not think you can watch them on ATV.  Where are you looking for your content?  i.e.  Are you looking under Music or under Computers > Music.

  • I have I tunes installed on Windows 7 but cannot access the music store to purchase. Set up an account but cannot access that now.  Suggestions?

Can someone give me some feedback on how to access the itunes store from my itunes music library using Windows 7 operating platform?  Sometimes nothing happens.  Other times rectangular boxes appear on top half of screen and words like "Today's Music" and song names appear but then computer locks.  Other times the bar across the top acts like it is accessing the store but nothing opens.

How to get iTunes Store to Work with Windows 7
First, Remove all iTunes and supporting software – and all “remnants” using Revo Uninstaller.  Ensure you set Revo Uninstaller on its “Advanced” setting.   You should be able to download a Revo trial software version at no cost.  Recommend one follow the directions posted at this website:   http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/23959/completely-remove-itunes-and-other-apple-so ftware-from-a-windows-computer/
The goal/intent of these directions/procedures is to ensure complete removal of all iTunes and its supporting software.  Make sure you get all of it, or you will end up repeating this lengthy procedure.
    Next, before reinstalling iTunes:
Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->Run the Command Prompt as Administrator then type in:
netsh winsock reset, hit enter, restart PC.
After this procedure, then reload the latest version of iTunes Software and see if you can access the iTunes Store.
If the iTunes Store does not open or completely open after installation, then run this procedure:
Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->Run the Command Prompt as Administrator then type in:
netsh winsock reset, hit enter, restart PC, open iTunes… then open iTunes Store (yes, this is a repeat of the command line you ran prior to installation).
After this procedure, you may find the iTunes Store’s “initial page” will open.  However, you may not be able to access any music within the iTunes store…   Ensure you are logged in with your name and password…
Once you know you are logged in with your name and password, then:
On the Start menu, point to All Programs > Accessories and then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator from the shortcut menu. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return on the keyboard.
You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
But wait, there’s more!  Now you need to go to the “Edit Button” of iTunes and select “Parental”.   Under “Parental”, check “Allow access to iTunes u” and then ensure iTunes Store is “unchecked”, then press “OK” to ensure this configuration “takes”.  Then, stop and restart iTunes.  You should now have a smooth running version of iTunes with full access to the iTunes store.  If not, then please modify these directions for those requiring a solid solution.  Thanks

  • Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Why is this setup now blocked by Apple? Cannot download purchased music.

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Each of us is using an own individual iPhone, which we frequently update with our iTunes Accounts. We have had this setup for years. It was convenient, reliable and user friendly, since we both could download what we wanted, create playlists, etc. without impact on the other. Exactly this convenience has made me and my wife real Apple fans, so that we also wanted to convince our daughter to move from Android and PC to our easier Apple setup.
Since a few weeks, this setup does not work anymore. From Apple Support (online chat on Apple.at) I was not told that this is not supported any more. Every computer is only allowed to be connected to one iTunes account. From one perspective (sharing music across other users as an act or media piracy, etc.) I can somehow understand this. However, since we are using different user accounts on this computer, I do not have access to other user´s iTunes media and could not play, download or copy it. So what is the point in this?
This now means, that my wife and I are only allowed to download individually purchased music with our personal iTunes accounts only with an interval of 90 days, so every on of us 2 times a year!
Was I incorrectly informed by the Apple support? If so, how can I solve the problem? Or is this really a new policy by Apple? If so, what is the reason? Am I expected to purchase a Mac for my wife, my daughter, myslef and for the three smaller kids to follow soon?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.
