Cannot access shared Photo Stream on OS X 10.8.2 and iPhoto 9.4

I have updated my OS to 10.8.2 and iPhoto to 9.4. I am logged in to iCloud and have Photo Streams enabled. However, when I click on the email invitation to a friend's Photo Stream, it redirects me to the Get Started page. What am I doing wrong? I am in Mexico and he is in NJ, is that is issue?

Me too. My wife can see my PS on her phone and iPad, but we can't get it to work on the Mac, which has PS enabled and has all the latest updates. Bit rubbish, this.

I cannot access a shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3.  The directions in help tell me to go to iPhoto preferences > photo stream, and check the box next to "select the shared photo stream checkbox".  There is no such option in my version.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

I cannot access a shared photo album in iPhoto 9.4.3
Is this a shared photo album from iPhoto on a mobile device or a Shared Photo Stream?
If a shared Photo Stream you should have this preference pane in iPhoto 9.4.3:
Check the boxes as shown in this screenshot and then go to the Photo Stream section in iPhoto and see if they appear.

  • TS4526 Can't access shared photo stream videos on my Apple TV, ?

I have an Apple TV that is a couple of years old and can't access shared Photo Stream videos. Is this something that only the third generation Apple TV can do? I don't have any problem using an iPad 3, iPhone 5 or 5S to access these videos so I suspect it is a limitation with the older Apple TV. My cousin has a newer Apple TV and can view these videos but I can't see them.

Have your husband check to see if he can view those 9 photos in full view or the edit mode.

I've looked at all of my settings on my macbook pro 13" and everything is setup correctly and the software version of my iphoto and upgraded to OSX and it still prompts me the screen that says I need to upgrade when I try to access a shared photo stream....help please.
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The most recent iPhoto is 9.4.2, so open Apple menu > Software Update and install the most recent iPhoto. Also, check if you have another iPhoto copy of an older version on your Mac

  • Cannot access my photos on computer.  Time machine no longer shows IPhoto in Backups from 2 weeks ago

Cannot access my photos in IPhoto it will not open.  Time machine has not backed up IPhoto for the last two weeks.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Cannot save videos from My "shared photo stream" to my camera roll??

I have created Shared photo stream. Earlier, added videos from my camera roll to my shared photo stream. Since then, I have deleted my camera roll. So now, I'm in my shared photo stream (created by me); select video(s) and "save to camera roll". But will not save there. I get a thumbnail showing JPG letters but no actual video or even photo. Note- I can save photos to camera roll from shared stream just fine. Another note- I wish there was option "send to Dropbox" when I'm viewing videos in my created shared photo stream. I'm having a hard time finding any way it get videos from my own shared photo stream into Dropbox. My PC is really old, still running windows XP and really slow. My iPhone 4 is still on 7.0 because I don't have needed space to update to 7.1. Thank you all for any advise!

Videos in a shared Photo Stream can only be streamed, they cannot be downloaded.

  • Can't share photos using shared Photo Stream with iCloud Control Panel for Windows

BACKSTORY: My friend took pictures of my family. I want to see the pictures he took. We live about 2.5 hours apart by car. Gas prices are too high for me to just drive down with an external hard drive to get the pictures and I might as well throw my money out the window if I were to ship him a hard drive and he ship it back. SO. I ask him if he would share photos with me and he quickly agreed. He added me to a Photo Stream  he has. ok cool. I recieve the invitation email just fine but this is the error I get when I click on the link:
    ERROR MESSAGE:
    Photo Stream
Follow these steps to join a shared photo stream
1.Make sure you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 6 or a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 withiPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later installed.
    2. Sign in to iCloud on your devices.
    3. Open the invitation email on an updated device and tap the Join this Photo Stream button.
    WHAT I NEED:
How can I view shared photo streams using iCloud Windows control panel 2.1.2.0? How can I work around this error message? I don't own any of these products that apple wants me to own in order to view these photos! I don't have the cash to go out and purchase them. What can I do to get "my" photos? Do I have to be signed into my friends apple id to see the shared photos?
    What I've tried:
I already have the icloud control panel installed and updated to the latest version.
I'm signed into iCloud on the control panel. (no apple id password issues)
    I have photo stream checked.
I have my photo stream checked
I have shared photo stream checked.
I have tried copying and pasting the link into the address bars of Safari for Windows, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer,  and Firefox respectively and pressing enter to load. all present the same error message.
I visited iCloud.com to see if there was anywhere to access the shared photo stream there... No option exisits
Checked my photo stream folder in windows explorer. it's completely empty. I haven't put any of my own photos there so nothings missing per se... I just can't see my friends shared photos.
    MY SET UP:
    Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
    4gb of RAM
    iCloud control panel version 2.1.2.0
I don't own any version of Outlook, (if that matters. I doubt that it matters at all in this case.)
I don't have any iOS Devices or a mac capable of 10.8. My MacBook is stuck at 10.6.8. It's a late mid 2008 just before the aluminum unibody computers came out. If I had only waited another month... sigh. Murphy's Law is alive and well.
any sugestions, especially correct answers, are welcome. please help me figure this out. Thanks in advance.
    Desert_dweller5

    Hello desert_dweller5,
It sounds like you art trying to access a Shared Photo Stream, but you do not have one of the devices to enable your Apple ID as an iCloud account.  The following article provides information on how Shared Photo Streams work:
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
The article states that for privately Shared Photo Streams to work, the recipient will not only have to have an Apple ID, but it will have to be an iCloud account:
Friends and family with iCloud accounts can view your photos in the Photos app on any device using iOS 6 or later; on a Mac in iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later; on a Windows PC with Windows Vista or later and iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later installed; or on a second generation or later Apple TV with software version 5.1 or later installed. They can also view your photos on the web if you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your Shared Photo Stream.
Since you do not have an iCloud account and just and Apple ID, your friend can share the photo stream as a public website so that you can view it, as stated in the same article:
Can I share with people who don't have an iCloud account?
Yes. If you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your shared photo stream your photos will be published to a website that anyone can view in an up-to-date web browser.
To be able to change an Apple ID to an iCloud account, you would need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later as stated in the following article:

  • How do I create a shared photo stream?

I see discussions regarding shared photo streams - all pertaining to issues with existing shared photo streams.  I don't see anything that provides instructions on how to create a shared photo stream.  How is this accomplished?  And how do I allow someone access to my shared photo stream?

    If you're creating it from iPhoto on your Mac this screenshot describes how;

  • Shared photo streams don't appear anymore after icloud account change

    Hi guys,
I've two icloud accounts: account A and account B.
Some days ago I switched my main icloud account (on my iPhone) from Account A to Account B.
Today I come back to Account A, and I expected to have again in my iphone all the Shared photo streams I had (both created by me and subscribed).
Instead in my iphone I cannot find any of my streamed stuff.
Can you help me to find again my streams?
    Thanks!

I attach four screenshots Yann - one is the project hierarchy - where you'll see PhotoStream appearing in Recent items, but not under the Web section (where you do see Facebook) and the other the preferences pane for PhotoStream in Aperture showing all three boxes checked.
Attachments one and two are from my wife's computer - where she's not seeing shared PhotoStreams.
Attachments three and four are from my computer - we I do see them.
What I notice when I compare these side by side is that there is a difference in the setting panel for photo stream between the two.  Mine has a fourth option for shared photo streams - my wife's doesn't.
Yet both s/w versions for Aperture are 3.4.5.  There is a difference in what is listed in the Aperture version after the version number, but both computers are fully up to date with no further updates available.  (Final two images first my wife's then my s/w version)
    Is your view/settings any different?

  • HT201317 View shared photo streams on Apple TV

I have an appletv but cannot see Shared Photo Streams that I am subscribed to. Is there a setting in the Apple TV itself or in the photo stream sharing that must be enabled in order to view the shared photos? How are they supposed to show up?

    On this page
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/photo-stream.html
    it says
Make your photos a big deal with Apple TV.
With Photo Stream and Apple TV, you can view your recent photos and Shared Photo Streams on your HDTV for some truly entertaining reality television.2 And the Photo Streams your friends and family share with you appear on your Apple TV automatically, so you can check out their latest pictures, view comments, and even “like” photos with a click of your Apple TV remote.
So unless the marketing team jumped ahead of the Apple TV dev team, I think it is supposed to be supported.

  • Can I add photo's to a shared photo stream created by my friend?

Me and my friends are sharing photo streams with the new feature in iOS6, and we noticed that only one person can add the photos and the rest can view. Is there a way for my friends to be able to add photos to the photo stream that I am sharing with them. It is kind of pointless if this feature is not available becuase we have to have 3 separate photo streams to view all 3 of our photos, when we could just simply do it in one.

In iPhoto Drag them to the shared PhotoStream that yoou wan tto add them to

  • HT4858 What about shared photo streams that's not shared with anyone?

I want to use shared photo streams mainly to keep my albums online and I find it the easiest way.
The article says that the maximum amount of photo stream I can share is 100.
What if I create a photo stream and I share it with no one? Will I be able to create more than 100 photo streams if I don't share them all?
    Thanks
    Uri

It doesn't matter whether you share your shared album or not, it still counts toward the 100 limit.

  • No shared photo stream on iPhoto '11

Hi! I have been trying to create a shared photo stream from iPhoto on mi iMac, but there is no option to do so, I only get my photo stream. I searched Apple support and supposedly under preferences/photo stream there should be a checkbox to enable the shared photo stream, but I only get three check boxes: "Enable Photo Stream", "Automatic Import" and "Automatic Upload", nothing about the shared photo stream. I have the latest version of iPhoto '11 (9.4.2). Any ideas on how to make it work? Thanks!
    Cesar

Shared Photo Streams require 10.8.2 or later.
