Cannot access some received emails on my PC - they're displayed, but cannot be opened

All emails are displayed on the main page. However, starting this past week, some emails became inaccessible. They do not show a preview when I click once. And, when I double-click on those emails, they display the contact info from the last email I had looked at.

If there was some sort of corruption it's quite possible that some messages are gone.
Inbox is most susceptible to corruption. Therefore make sure to keep your Inbox as empty as possible to reduce the risk of losing messages.
Creating backups on a regular basis is recommended as well.

No. You really can't do that. Not easily at any rate. You would have to set them both up to use POP3, but even then there is no way to guarantee that the phone won't poll the server prior to your computer doing so, pulling down the message from the server.

If Mail.app will launch on OS X and you can get to the Preferences settings and related, see the Apple Mail.app troubleshooting article for some suggestions. From there, get that working, then compare the differences between what's working and connecting, and what's not — the Connection Doctor and the Activity window should give you a pretty good idea of where things are hanging up — if not directly what's wrong — when troubleshooting the OS X Mail.app connection.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

How do you access "trouble shoot" for mail. My AOL account is set up on the mail icon but it some how defaulted to another Wi fi account and could not receive email. We reset the the Wifi but somehow didn't complete the process.

We were unable to receive email on the AOL account and were directed to trouble shoot. We reset the Wifi account but somehow didn't save it correctly. Now we cannot get back in to reset it again. I don't really understand your question. The Mail application cannot independently access a different wifi network from the one your computer is using.
Are you trying to troubleshoot your wifi (ie, you can't get into your own wireless network), or the Mail program (you can't get email)? Are there any error messages you see when you try to do one or the other?

TS3276 Ever since I upgraded to OSX Lion I have not been able to receive email from Comcast. I can send but not receive. I have dealt with Comcast on several occassions and after trying all the usual remedies they cannot get it to work.

I have downloaded the latest adobe (XI), restarted my computer, cleared my search history on chrome, tried opening the files with internet explorer, and tried getting someone from the adobe chat service to fix the problem. None of these have proved successful.

Certain PDF files (dynamic XFA forms) created in Adobe LiveCycle can only be opened in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. When you try to open these files in an alternative PDF viewer, then you will see this error message.
Unfortunately, it's not easy remove this message and modify the PDF so that it can be opened in alternative PDF viewers. The person who created the original form must re-create the form using options that do not restrict which PDF viewers can open and display the file.
Adobe has made the decision that since very few non-Adobe products support these special PDF files, that it is better to show this message -- and require the user to download Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat -- than it is to let the PDF viewer try to render the document. You might want to ask the user to Reader-extend the documents so that you can view it with Adobe Reader.

Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether.

But now stupid Windows Live Hotmail has made it impossible for me to "use" my email, such as doing Bcs or Attaching something, or even typing new text in the message box.
