Cannot access Temporary Internet Files
Hello;
I am logged on with admin privs, I run Windows Explorer as admin, and have set security properties for all folders, yet I still cannot get access to my OWN Temporary Internet Files folder.
Sure, I have just come over to Win7 from XP Pro, and there is a huge difference in security, but I have always thought that when you are the computer's administrator, you have access to ALL files and folders.
My computer is not a member of a domain at this time.
I know that I can delete the files through IE, and by Disk Cleanup, so it's more curiosity than anything else that I need to know this.
I already own the Windows7 Resource kit, but so far I cannot find anything in there about this.
Thanks for your help

You should have access here...
even a standard user has access here (they have to or they could not really use I.E.)
C:\Users\<User_name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\
The following folders that in win7 user profile are shortcuts.
"Documents and Settings" and "Application Data", "Cookies", "Local Settings", "My Documents", "NetHood", "PrintHood", "Recent", "SendTo", "Start Menu", "Templates
These shortcuts in Windows 7 are junction points, which are important parts of application compatibility. As Windows 7 is a new Windows Platform, a lot of applications was not designed for it so that they are not fully compatible with Windows 7. To allow these applications access the data on Windows 7 properly, the shortcuts are designed to redirect the applications to obtain the necessary data in the correct directories. Thus, these shortcuts do not contain any files but a new directory of a certain folder. To avoid deleting or modifying the shortcuts by mistake, Windows 7 sets the Read permissions of these folder to Deny. Actually, the shortcuts are hidden by default.
To access these junction points, redirect to the following folders:
Note: As some folders are hidden, please refer to the following steps to show all the hidden files.
Show hidden folders
==============
1. Open "Computer", and click "Organize" -> "Folder and Search Options".
2. Click the "View" tab. Under "Hidden files and folders", click "Show hidden files and folders."
3. To display other hidden files, clear the "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" check box.

After downloading PSE 13, receive error message cannot open windows temporary internet files
After downloading Photoshop elements 13, I receive an error message as it tries to open (but instead opens my PSE 9 application) and this message appears: "cannot open C:Users\Spears\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.1E5\AV8ZNMD1\Photoshop Elements_13_LS25_win64.7z"
I have been trying various fixes to download this for 2 days now. Can someone please help me?
Thanks!Did you check if the Firefox file is in that location?
If it isn't there then do a clean (re)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
If the file is there then do a malware check with some malware scan programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.<br />

I often have occasions to run more than one Profile simultaneously (usually because of different add-ons I've installed on different Profiles). In the past this worked fine. Now, all of a sudden, if I open a second Profile while the first is running the second cannot access the Internet until I close the first. It keeps looking for a website, and failing, until the system "times out". If I close the first Profile, the second is then able to access the Internet.
Note: this is not a problem with opening a second Window in Firefox. As long as they are from the same Profile they will both work fine. Nor does this stop me from using a second Profile to look at website files I have saved to my computer. The only problem is that the second Profile cannot get on the Internet.I just checked, the setting was for "Automatic proxy configuration URL", in the past it was set on "No Proxy". So I'll try changing that (and/or try other proxy options), and see if that solves the problem.
If it does, then just one (academic) question remains: why did that happen in the first place? I don't care what the answer is, so long as your suggestion solves the problem.

How to clear the cache files in folder Temporary Internet Files
When one user opens files such as pdf. or doc. from Portal, the same file will be downloaded into the Temporary Internet Files folder. if another user copied the files out of the Temporary Internet Files folder from this computer and save to someplace else, then we face one security problem.
So my question is: How to clear the cache files in folder Temporary Internet Files?? Can we delete the files automatically when close the files in Portal??
or is there some ways to make encrypty???
Thanks very much!Hello,
this is a basical security problem which should be resolved by the OS standard security setup . No other user should have access to the temporary file folders in the personal directory. The user account must be secure. Normaly your security problem should not be a problem if basic security exists on the clients.
You can resolve this problem if every user has his own account on the client
The users having no administration permissions on the clients
The folder for the temporary internet files is placed in the personal profile folder of the user account.
On default no other user has access rights to you personal folder, this means the client OS is setup correctly.
You can setup the IE that no temporary files are saved (but it reduces performance)
You can enable IE to delete automaticly the temporary files if IE is closed.
Hope it helps.

How do I retrieve temporary internet files?
I am having a problem finding and retrieving the temporary internet files that are stored. I went to about:cache and found the file I need, but when I click on it, it isn't retrieved. Rather, it opens what looks like the hex source for the file. How can I retrieve the file?
You can look at this extension for easier access to files in the cache.

Get Temporary Internet Files Location
Hello,
I'm writing an applet for which it would be useful to have "temporary-ish" storage.
What I mean by this is, it would be good to store some settings so that the next time the applet is loaded, I might be able to re-load them. If they're not there it's no major issue.
GetTempFile() and would be perfect except it produces a unique name, which is tricky when I want to recover my file again at some later date!
Ideally, I want a function which tells me a directory where it is safe to write on the current platform, and which isn't automatically flushed at the end of the session (so on NT, C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files would be perfect, or perhaps some JVM-specific temporary location?)
Thanks for any assistance you can give,
ChrisCookies sound ideal for the job, but unfortunately
no, I don't know how to use them at the moment.Could
you elaborate?Actually not at the moment, as applets are not my
thing. But I'm sure the object hierarchy lets you
deal with cookies, and I at least wanted to start
pointing you in the right direction (hopefully).I don't know about accessing cookies from applets but you certainly can access cookies from JavaScript and you can have JavaScript talk to an applet (even just by having it write out param tags to your source. -

And as long as you rely on being spoon-fed everything, you will never be confident about your result.
Try the following:
>change jre versión (donwload from http:www.sun.com) and declare the new JAVA_HOME variable.
>try calling this code: Locale.setDefault(Locale.ENGLISH);
before you open a database connection.
> The NLS_LANG must be unset in the Windows registry (re-named is best). Look for the NLS_LANG subkey in the registry at \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE, and rename it.
And where did you find that solution?

Temporary Internet Files (Vista)
Where are the Temporary Internet Files in Vista.
I've been updating flash files on the web but my browsers

In Win XP Almost everything browsed on the web was downloaded

Temporary Internet Files in Java Application
Hello,
I would like to know how to use "Temporary Internet Files" in a Java application.
When I make a Java Applet that fetch some internet files and launch it from internet browsers,
the fetched files are cached in "C:\Documents and Settings\***\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0"
as "Temporary Internet Files". However when I launch it from Applet Viewer in eclipse or use the
fetching code from a Java application, no files are cached in the directory.
Is it possible to enabling cache with a Java application?
Here is the test code I used.
final String USER_AGENT = "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)" ;
String urlString = "http://www.abysse.co.jp/japan/pref/images/hokkaido4.jpg";
URL url = new URL( urlString );
URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
conn.setDoOutput( true );
conn.setRequestProperty( "User-Agent", USER_AGENT );
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(conn.getInputStream());
byte[] jpgBytes = new byte[conn.getContentLength()];
in.readFully(jpgBytes);
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("C:\\httpoutap.jpg");
fos.write(jpgBytes);
fos.flush();
fos.close();
fos = null;Edited by: mirror_j on Jan 28, 2009 12:22 AMmirror_j wrote:
I would like to know what the caching feature is build in.As I said "You cannot enable it as it is not a built in feature."
This is not strictly correct. You can use LinkedHashMap for a simple cache, but its not a persisted cache so wouldn't be very useful for you.
I suggest you look at using ehcache. It free and widely used. -
I was using the #3 version, downloaded the 3.6 version and cannot access my ADP files now. Can I get the 3 version back?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, maybe after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Why can't I delete temporary internet files in Bootcamp/AppData folders
Why can't I delete temporary internet files in Bootcamp/AppData folders. Message occurs that file cannot be deleted.
Are you trying to delete files from your Time Machine backup? Don't do that!! If you have files/photos you wish to delete then delete them from iPhoto or whatever photo application you are using. They will be removed from the backup by the TimeMachine backup system. Your backup is not a simple file it is a time/event dependent organizational picture of your system sort of like a multilayered transparent collage, but if you start pulling random pieces out it will collapse the file system. I cannot access the internet the screen is grey, I have tried by using the answer from someone but it does not work...I went to settings, tap safari, then clear the history, cookies, and cache, then turn off ipad. When I did that twice, it did not work. How long does it take for the clear history to work? I am a brand new
user of the ipad2 and I am disappointed that this is happening already.Have you been able to access the internet previously and now it's suddenly not working, or are you still trying to access the internet for the first time on your iPad? Are you at home trying to connect through your home router? If you are at home, did you put your home routers encryption code as your password? The encryption code is what your iPad is looking for and it is usually found on the router and is typically a 13 digit combination of letters and numbers. Let us know......

I did a software update on my ipad to 8.1 and now cannot access the internet. How do I fix this? My mail updates, but to get internet access I had to move from wifi to cellular data, and now even cellular data does not allow me access.
Hi Go to settings Reset Network Settings After Reset you need to enter your Router wireless key Before you do this turn off your Router for 30 seconds Also an option is to go on Websites for your make of Router look for any Firmware updates but you can do this later. Cheers Brian
