Cannot access to BIOS setup

Hi,
My laptop is X61s. After I did fresh Vista install, and fresh RnR, I'm unable to access to BIOS by hitting the blue ThinkVantage button. It automatically jumps to RnR. There is no other options to enter BIOS.
Please help!
Thanks!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Instead of pressing the blue button, press F1 and you will be able to enter BIOS.

  • Satellite 1400-103: Cannot access the BIOS Setup

I'm having problems getting into the BIOS setup. At the 1st bootup screen I press ESC key then message appears Check system. Then press F1 key. Once key is pressed it doesn't take me to BIOS setup and laptop reboots. Any help will be much appreciated.
    James

No it doesn't. There is a problem with the OS and I was gonna do a repair using an XP disk. I have been trying to boot from cd rom by pressing C button and I've also tried pressing F12 key to change boot device. The teacher whose laptop it is has put a bios password on bootup but I'm assuming this shouldn't affect bootup or accessing the bios setup. I'm not sure if it's a supervisor password or administrator password.

  • Accessing RAID BIOS Setup on K7N2 Delta-ILSR

    Dear All,
OK, OK, OK, so the message title does not make much sense... I wanted to include all the useful words.
I have a brand new motherboard, as above and I have put a drive onto IDE 3 (yes, you can do this - just have one drive on the SATA RAID, I have found that much out - it is described as a 0+1 RAID set) and I want to set it up to work!
All that happens at the moment, is that the SATA BIOS scans the channels for the RAID and does not find it. Then it goes on, saying that the BIOS is not installed.
I am supposed to press Ctrl-F to go into the BIOS setup, but when I do this, it ignores me - have tried pressing from just after the POST and I have tried resetting the BIOS, to no avail!
In the manual, it says that when you start the machine up first time, it will tell you to press Ctrl-F to go into the setup or Esc to continue. I cannot believe that you can ONLY setup the SATA once, at first startup?
If it is ONLY at first startup, then when is the definition of "first startup"? I have tried all things to reset the motherboard and they do not work:
    1. Shutting down the machine
    2. Removing the power supply connectors
    3. Reset the BIOS w/J11
    4. Removing the backup battery
    5. Removing the backup battery and resetting the BIOS w/J11
    6. Removing memory
    7. Removing drive cables
    8. Reflashing the BIOS
    Anyone got any other ideas?
    Thank you all, in advance.
    Leni

    Thanks for the help, guys...
The RAID setup was OK. I was advised to backup all the data on the drive before doing this, which I did. I just used "Auto" to include this drive as an ordinary drive on IDE 3. After, I had a look at the drive and nothing seemed to be different. I have used a RAID card (it was cheap) - HPT370 - as an ordinary IDE card and that was a bit simpler. The HPT370 just scans and finds the required drives and they are there.
Incidentally, I did look at the diag's on the top of the drive and I do not remember it saying anything about differences between Master and Single drives. No harm done(except losing 4 hours of MY LIFE)!
Incidentally, drunken_rice I am not using the RAID as a bootup drive. Although I did not lose any data myself, I would suggest that you backup your data before adding your drive into the RAID (I was advised of this before) - just in case!
    Regards,
    Leni

  • Cannot Access Advanced Configuration / Setup

I have two WVC54GCA cameras and was able to connect to them, set up passwords and view them on my wireless network.  Nifty.
However, I now want to edit settings under "Advanced Configuration" so that I can see them remotely.   I am able to access the cameras via their respective IP addresses, but advanced config prompts me for a password, which is apparently not the same password as what I use to access the video of the cameras.
The prompt is : A username and password are being requested by http://192.168.1.106. The site says: "Administration".
Is this even coming from the cameras, or could it be my Linksys wireless router?

By default the username and the password is "admin" in lower case.If you have changed the password then, you need to use that password...If that is not working then, you need to reset the Camera and try..

  • No access to BIOS on W530 after W7 64bit installation | W7 boots and works fine

    Hello L'users
My fancy problem with my W530 DOS machine 2441-B32. Age: 2 weeks.
Bios was current (1.11) when I started installing W7 64bit. Before installation, I changed the BIOS setting to UEFI.
OS Installation seems to be fine, no error messages from the OS or ThinkVantage so far.
Funny is that I cannot access the BIOS any more.
    Here comes the plot.
First message for about 5 seconds during boot procedure is:
"To interrupt normal startup, press Enter"
Problem: Pressing Enter does not interrupt the "normal" startup.
Second message for about a second is:
    System BIOS shadowed
    Video BIOS shadowed
    BIOS Version: G5ET33W (1.11 )
    Press <F1> to BIOS Setup.
    Problems:
Pressing F1 does not lead to setup.
I did not manually shadow anything.
BIOS was not secured from me with a pwd.
Third message for about half a second is:
ThinkVantage Active Protection sensor diagnostics start. /
The fourth message is the start message from a booting W7.
    What I have tried:
    (1)
    BIOS Update Utility
    g5uj07us.exe
    Executed under W7 says
BIOS image file is same as BIOS ROM
An update is not necessary at this time.
So it seems that the BIOS is accessible by this utility.
    (2)
Starting from the DVD-ROM is not possible, I tried to boot from the DOS bootable BIOS FLASH CD, an OpenSuse DVD, DBAN.
I was thinking about erasing the HDD in an external USB docking, booting the W530 from the DOS bootable BIOS FLASH CD without a HDD installed, restoring the BIOS and trying another W7 install.
But: This is nearly the same what I did when I installed W7 the first time.
Any ideas? Does anybody here had the same problem?
    Thanx!

  • I cannot enter the BIOS mode on my Yoga Ideapad - Novo button does not do anything

    Hi,
I have a win 8.1, and cannot access the Bios in any way I tried.
I shut down the computer, pressed the Novo button - nothing happens.
Pressed it while turning the computer on, nothing happens.
I'd like to change the F keys to their normal state (being Fn keys and not volume etc.).
    How do I do this?
    Thanks,
    Iram

Reboot while holding down Shift, choose Advanced -> UEFI Firmware Settings, voila you're in the bios.

  • BIOS setup menu is missing in my G580 after installing fedora....

    Dear sir,
    I bought a Lenovo G580 [59337032] laptop about a month ago.
It had no OS installed. I installed Fedora 17 in it.
But after installing Fedora, I can't be able to access the BIOS setup menu by pressing F2.
And also my boot order rearranged.
While pressing F12 during boot, the boot devices list appears.
But the first entry is Fedora, 2nd is Ethernet, 3rd is HDD, 4th is DVD drive.
I found a similar problem in this forum. But the solution [disconnect the HDD and press F2 during boot]
of that problem did not work in my case.
I also deleted the recovery partion of lenovo.
    My BIOS version is 62CN34WW
How can I fix my BIOS?
    Now my OS is Windows7.

    Dear Sirs!
Have the absolutely same problem with one difference - installed OS was Ubuntu 9.04.
According to recomendation HDD mode was setted as "сompatible" (IDE). After rearranging
disk to 3 parts: /, /swap and /user/home and setting up system I have find that BIOS setup
are unaccessible and system won't boot up (Non system disk error).
From LiveCD and USB, both Ubuntu and Windows XP SP3 system boots and work fine,
    HDD read/write accesible.
Local serviceman told, that they have no possibility to reprogram BIOS flash by themselves
and it will take 2-3 month to obtain new motherboard or whole laptop for exchange. This is
absolutely unacceptable for me, because my job depends on the health of the laptop.
Laptop Lenovo G580, BIOS version 62CN34WW
    Thanks in advance for cooperation!

  • Accessing the BIOS - Post Windows 7 Install

After I installed Windows 7 I lost the ability to access the BIOS through pressing the Lenovo Care button. How do I retain this ability?  This is on a Lenovo SL500 Thinkpad.
Message Edited by Emanuel on 06-16-2009 10:09 AM

    Hi Emanuel:
Have you installed the "System Interface Driver" from the Lenovo Windows 7 beta downloads page?  I think that this is the driver that enables the blue Lenovo button.
If that doesn't work, you can still access the BIOS setup by tapping on the F1 key while the computer is starting up.

  • I need BIOS setup for 5005-S504

    Hello,
I no longer have the original disks, the laptop was OFF for 8 years and the CMOS battery was dead. Windows was corrupt and I installed Win Vista. I need to access the BIOS but the Win XP HardWare utility download won't run in VISTA. Hitting ESC when it boots doesn't work. F2 doesn't either.
How can I access the BIOS setup screens? Is their a reset button somewhere on the motherboard?
    Any help appeciated.

    Satellite 5005-S504
You might try one of the methods mentioned in here.
BIOS Setup / BIOS settings -- access instructions
If the Esc key doesn't work, you're probably out of luck. Why Vista?
Can you boot to DOS, BTW?

  • Z77A-GD65 Unable to reach BIOS setup

    Motherboard: Z77A-GD65
    CPU: i5-3570K
    GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 660Ti
    Memory:  G.SKILL 8GB, 2x8GB, 1600MHz
    SSD:  Intel 330 Series 2.5-Inch
    Bios A: A.A
    Bios B: A.A
I am dual-booting Windows 7 and Mac.  At some point along the way of getting this set up, I have seemingly broken access to my MSI BIOS.
My computer is able to boot into Windows 7 and Mac no problem, and is completely functional in both partitions.  But I am completely unable to access my BIOS setup screens (using the DEL key during startup).
When attempting to access the BIOS during startup, I hit the DEL key and it flashes briefly on the BIOS screen (blue MSI logo, but most of the controls are not rendered, the UI looks corrupted) before restarting immediately.
I have tried many times to flash the BIOS to various versions, including the prior 3 versions before A.A and have been unable to reach the BIOS screen.
My most recent BIOS flash was using the Forum HQ tool, and I installed the Intel Management Extensions afterward.
While my computer is functional, I am worried that eventually I will need access to the BIOS to change or update settings and don't like not having this capability.  Does anyone have any idea how to get back to a working BIOS?  Has anyone seen the problem where the BIOS screen partially renders but then goes immediately into a reboot?
Any help would be appreciated -- apologies if I have omitted any important details.  Let me know if more background would help.
    Thanks,
    Josh

Hi Svet, thanks for the advice.  I tried to use the GO2BIOS button which essentially caused the same outcome as when I jam on the delete key during restart.
Basically, it initiates a reboot, the black startup screen begins...
    1) I see 9C in the lower right corner
    2) then B4 for several seconds
    3) then very briefly A2.
    4) Then the blue BIOS screen flickers in the upper-left corner (btw, this is only a partially rendered screen, it's only the title bar plus the boot dropdown which is unclickable), then the computer restarts and goes back to step 1.
I also have tried using the ClickBIOS and that just fails to start with an error like "SCEWIN_64.exe has stopped working".
I think my issue is deeper, any further ideas?
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • HP Pavilion DV6-3029tx Cannot Access BIOS Setup

Hello there, I have used this laptop for nearly two years, if I remember correctly.
Basically, the problem is that I want to disable Function key, but I cannot access BIOS setup.
I have tried every combination of keys at start-up screen, from ESC to F10, none of them worked.
So I thought maybe an BIOS update can solve the problem (My current version is F.07), I downloaded firmware from HP support site and run it, know what, the screen flashed and system get restarted, but nothing had changed, I didn't get even an error message.
The problem is actually found by a HP supporter when I send my laptop for cleaning last year, he didn't manage to fix it at the time and problem became devastating for me lately because certain software I am using rely heavily on function keys. The only things "big" I have ever done to my laptop were updating windows 7 Home to Ultimate (32-bit) and partition, I am not sure if they were the reason.
The following is InsydeFlash log, I searched the error code and find somebody with similar problem here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/Pavillion-DV6-3125er-BIOS-UPDATE-Error/t...

  • Cannot enter BIOS setup

I bought a new msi amd motherboard it cannot go into cmos BIOS setup it just says entering setup and it doesnt go any further, I have the pc down to barebones memory cpu and msi board.
I have reset bios CMOS with jumper and battery out several times same problem.
Will flashing the bios fix this problem or could it be that I found the memory is 1.65 volt and should of been 1.5 volt thought everything was recognized and working until windows7 said it completed its installation.
Edited title, correct terminology is BIOS setup not CMOS.
