Cannot Access WRT54GL Config Page

I am doing some consulting work for a small business and cannot gain access to the routers configuration page.  Here is a summary of the environment:
* WRT54GL, ver. 1.1.
* The WAN port of the router is connected directly to the Verizon DSL modem for Internet access.
* Port 1 is connected to the main switch (192.168.102.x subnet).
* Users can also connect to this router by wireless (192.168.3.x subnet).
* When I connect to the wireless network, it appears that the router has been assigned an IP address of 192.168.3.1.  When I execute an ipconfig command:
Connection-specific DNS suffix:   lan
Dhcp Enabled:                                 Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled:           Yes
IP Address:                                       192.168.3.240
Subnet Mask:                                    255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:                              192.168.3.1
DHCP Server:                                   192.168.3.1
DNS Server:                                      192.168.3.1
* When I connect to the "wired" network, it appears that the router has been assigned an IP address of 192.168.102.254.  When I execute an ipconfig command:
Connection-specific DNS suffix:   ourcompany.com
Dhcp Enabled:                                 Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled:           Yes
IP Address:                                       192.168.102.111
Subnet Mask:                                    255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:                              192.168.102.254
DHCP Server:                                   192.168.102.15
DNS Server:                                      192.168.102.254
* When I am on the wireless network, I can successfully ping 192.168.3.1 and 192.168.1.1.  When I ping 192.168.102.254, it resolves to 192.168.3.1 and returns a "Destination port unreachable".
* When I connect to the "wired" network, I can succesfully ping 192.168.3.1 (as well as 192.168.102.254 - obviously), but I cannot ping 192.168.1.1 ("Request timed out").
ACTIONS:
1)  I am trying to connect to the WRT54GL device to examine the configuration and create a route between the two networks.  I have downloaded Linksys Easylink Advisor and I can see the network (on both connections), but cannot get into the configuration pages  I receive an error ("MSG_100_000_000 Unhandled error ...") and then goes into an endless loop "Retrieving Router Settings".
2)  When I attempt to access through a web browser (from both subnets), I get a "page not found" error.
3)  I connected a cable directly to an open port in the router.  I immediately had Internet access and was assigned an IP in the 192.168.3.x subnet.  Still I could not connect to the administration page on either 192.168.3.1 or 192.168.1.1.
4)  Power cycled the router and re-attempted 1,2, and 3 above - same result.
5)  Downloaded the latest firmware upgrade and tried to apply through linksys-ftp (while connected directly to the router).  In the dialogue box I entered 192.168.1.1 and the default password of 'admin' and pointed to the firmware upgrade file.  After clicking the "Upgrade" button and three tries, I get an "Unable to get responses from server" message.  This also happens when trying to connect to 192.168.1.1.
6)  Since I am not sure whether I should be connecting to 192.168.3.1 or 192.168.1.1, I also tried to assign a static IP on my laptop in the 192.168.1.x subnet, but that left me with no network connection at all.
SO .... where do I go from here?  I know I can do a reset and get back to the factory installed settings on the router, but I really prefer NOT to do that.  Whoever set this up is long gone, and no one here has any idea about the network or even who it was that set it up.  I think it would take a long time to reconstruct things (during off hours since people need to be connected to the network all day), so I don't want to go down that path.
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

What is the model of the switch that you are using? Is this just a plain pass through switch or a manageable one? I am curious where you are getting that 192.168.102.x ip range. If wired to the router you are getting 192.168.3.1, then that should be the address that you use when you run the tftp utility. And also what is the ip address that you are getting from the modem? Is the modem bridged or is it functioning as a modem/router?
If you want to upgrade the router's firmware, I suggest that you remove the switch and the modem from the loop and see if you can access the router interface. If you cannot, then reset the router for 30 seconds, powercycle it and see if you can now access the router interface.

I am also having the same problem. This all worked ok on Friday, now I cannot get into the Oracle Database Home Page. The database is running, I can login via sqlplus but I cannot access the database via the Database home page and my application cannot get to it either. It is all on my local workstation. Application cannot make a connection. It gives this error:
'The Network Adapter could not establish the connection'
When I look at services running it is all running, the listener says automatic, when I try to start it, manually it says it started and stopped because it has nothing to do.
I tired the command ALTER DATABASE OPEN and mentioned previously and got the message, 'a database already opne by the instance'.

    Hi Ahmed,
****Upgarde procedure keep the Old data and take you you to the New version *******
This  is an Upgarde Procedure ,however  if you use the  --install command during the Upgarde Procedure ,it will wipeout the old data and NAM will be like a factory Installed and then it will upgarded to New Version.
Follow the below link ,in the step 5:
Step 5 Upgrade the NAM application software as follows:
    DON NOT USE THIS
    root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url
where ftp-url is the FTP location and name of the NAM software image file
    or
    USE THIS ONE
    root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url --install
Note The --install keyword clears and recreates all of the NAM partitions; this action is similar to restoring the factory-default state. If you use the --install keyword, the previously stored reports and data (if any) will be lost.

  • Wrt54g2-cannot access online setup page

after uploading the latest firmware today for my wrt54g2 i cannot access the web based setup page using 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 to verify settings.i can surf fine thru the internet except that page.please help

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
To view the router's web pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If the reset does not fix your system, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • Cannot access certain web pages using ANY browser (when other systems can)

(As [BDAqua|http://discussions.apple.com/profile.jspa?userID=528118] noted, this issue may be separate from [that which Alexander Solo is experiencing|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1467311], though many aspects are the same or very similar. I've mostly copied my original post in that thread to this new one).
I'm having trouble accessing a handful of particular web pages/domains, from my Mac Mini G4, using Safari (latest), Firefox (latest), Camino, Opera, Mozilla, IE, OmniWeb... I've tried every browser I have. It's really a problem as I'm taking a course in Web App Development now where we need to be able to access a course site which uses the code we are learning... and I can't because the page just doesn't load. There are lots of other students in the program using Macs, even members of the course team... I'm the only one who can't load that page.
Anyway, a seemingly-random few sites just don't load for me, consistently... some of them are important to me, others not so, but one is critical and it's been driving me bonkers. It's not a router issue, since it doesn't matter where I'm plugged into the router and my wife's Dell notebook (Vista) accesses any of these pages (when she has it here). A friend of mine was also able to access them, both from his house and plugged into the same router as I was, at the same time (Dell notebook/XP Pro).
A few of the pages that won't load:
(The course web page... other https pages at the Open University load fine, though, so it doesn't seem to be an https issue.)
http://www.hotmail.com quickly redirects twice, stopping at:
[http://login.live.com/?id=2] ... and then does nothing... I don't use Hotmail, but my wife sometimes tries to access it (or was trying) if she leaves her notebook at work.
I also can't load any page on the versiontracker website:
[http://www.versiontracker.com] ... that is really a drag for me.
There are a few, seemingly random, other sites that just don't load and haven't been loading for about a couple of months now. I don't know if I might have installed some bad app or something (I've checked and my system is negative for the DNSChanger trojan... not that I've ever visited pr0n sites... ).
The problem has persisted through re-boots of the system and the router. I've tried booting from a firewire backup drive (I believe that one was still pre-security-release 2008-002, but otherwise nearly the same) and the problem persisted in all browsers. I've tried terminating processes that I didn't think were necessary to be running. I've tried fixing permissions, running diagnostic/repair apps, anything and everything I could think of. When attempting to find a solution on Google, I found a number of other mainstream news sites and such which also didn't load (at all), even after several minutes, but I haven't ; and of course trying to find mention of the problem in a Google search yields waaay too many irrelevant hits to have yielded an answer. I'm starting to suspect malware, since the problem doesn't make any sense and, if a culprit wrote something to do this, in addition to the "random" sites, they might block certain sites where we might find answers. I found a few more sites which didn't load (news sites and such) when I was doing a run through what Google could come up with. One of significance was:
[CNET's news.com domain|http://www.news.com> ... Though I haven't had a chance to have another local user check, it seems to fit the pattern of the others (doesn't load in Safari or Firefox, etc) and doesn't load even if I use the IP address: [216.239.113.101|216.239.113.101]
In short: It sounds like just the same [problem Alexander Solo is having|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1467311], except that I can access the site he can't, so it's not a situation where we can say "technology x is running on these sites and our pre-Intel Macs don't like it."
In short, I've tried everything I could think of to troubleshoot this problem (drive utilities, searches for known malware, terminating unnecessary processes, re-starting my system and router... so any help or ideas would be most appreciated.
    --Lowell

I should add something which may indicate that I'm experiencing two separate issues: when it comes to news.com, versiontracker.com and other sites I've been unable to access, it's never seemed to matter whether I try to access a particular page on the site or the site root.
In the case of my course website, however, I'm able to at least partially load the course chair's (more-or-less empty) "home page" at the site root. It may be that packets from other people trying to access the site are not following anything like the same route, but I really know very little about all that. I had anticipated being completed moving to Bristol (England) by now (most of the other students on this "correspondence" course are in England), but my Mac is still sitting in Frankfurt, Germany. In any case, what loads of the site root, loads verrrrry slowly. Following is output of an attempted "traceroute" to the IP (a second attempt followed the same pathway with similar results):

I'm no "IT-guy", so I'm not really sure how to interpret what's happening, but I'm *beginning to suspect* this could be *related (similar in some way) to [the issues some Mac users were having accessing the Crate and Barrel website*|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1400045&start=50&tst art=0] (before Crate and Barrel resolved things on their end).
I'm also beginning to suspect that the *versiontracker.com and news.com siteload issues are related* to each other as I've found I can get successful ping (0% loss) and traceroute results, even if neither site loads in my browsers.
Following is the *traceroute for versiontracker.com* (which I see, now, is also a CNet-hosted site):

Since my wife's (Vista) Dell notebook can access these sites from the same router (and I was able too for a while), I'm beginning to suspect that the issues may have started with my update to OS X 10.4.11 or the first security update. It has been quite a while since we've successfully been able load Hotmail (in any browser) on this machine. My smug "Mac guy" superiority is taking a serious hit with these issues...

  • Editing the Schedule PDP, at the Page Details Web Part, inserted wrong Project Web App URL. Cannot access Project Schedule Pages.

I need a help. The environment, SharePoint and Project Server 2013 and SQL Server 2012, running on Windows Server 2008. Editing Details Web Part in a Schedule PDP Page, saved invalid Project Web App URL. After that, can display the Project Information and Project
Details Pages from the projects accessed, and can display the Project site, too. But, when I access the Project Schedule Page, receive an error page, because of the invalid URL. The message is obvious: "There

I would like to know if there is some way to fix it without re-installing the system. Thanks for all. If somebody need more information, have log information and page display available.

  • Wrt54g ver5, unable to access the config pages

    wrt54g ver5
    firmware ver  1.02.5
i am unable to access the internal web pages on wrt54g ver 5
can access the internet fine. it seems to be a memory corruption problem
i has been doing more and more times

Since the router works, it is doubtful (but still possible) that the firmware is corrupted.  More likely there is another explanation for your problem.  Here are my tips for viewing your router's web pages:
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • Cannot access pacman man page since update...

Okay, so I just updated pacman to 3.1.1-1, and I can't access pacman's man page. I checked and found that the page does exist on my system (I think, /usr/man/man5/pacman.conf.5.gz and /usr/man/man8/pacman.8.gz both exist). When I try execute 'man pacman' it just tells me "No manual entry for pacman". Oh, and I also tried manually specifying the section.
Any idea what's going on here?

No, it a known problem with the transition of man pages to FHS compliant locations.
So that means the proper location of the man page is in /usr/share/man instate of /usr/man? Does this means that the man page for i686 version of pacman will eventually be moved to /usr/share/man too?

  • I cannot access or open Pages

I cannot open Pages. I may have accidently dragged it to the trash from Applications. I have used iWork disc to try to reinstall it, but every time I now click on the Pages icon, it comes up saying "The application Pages quit unexpectedly". If I relaunch, nothing repairs and it continues to pop up with this same message each time I hit the Pages icon.

you dragged it into the trash you say.
If it is still there, just drag it back into the Applications folder and it should run.
If it is nowhere to be found ( try spotlight search the complete Mac ) , your issues might be of a different kind.
First help always : launch disk utility and let it repair the Harddrives permissions, then try installation of pages from DVD ( or do you use Appstore to purchase it ? ) again.
If it is a AppStore problem, there is a dedicated help forum here at Apple.

  • Nokia Xpress browser cannot access some web pages

For example, go to http://m.nationalrail.co.uk/, click "Live Departure Boards", then "Arriving". This gets the following error message:
    Can't reach
    http://m.nationalrail.co....
    Please check the address
I'm using version 5.5.0.0.27 of the browser on a 301
This sequence works fine with other devices that access the internet directly.

As a workaround, does the attachment from this thread help?
It starts the native platform-browser and allows you to go for any URL you like.

  • I added a plugin and now cannot access Firefox web page

I have lost access to Firefox webpage and pray for step 1 in how to once again regain access

    To avoid confusion.<br />
Did you add a plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) or installed a Firefox extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)?
In case of the latter, try to start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Cannot access Firefox home page - HTTP Status 404 resource not available

Firefox worked fine, had multiple pages upon opening for weeks, then switched back to single tab home page, then switched back to multiple. Entered about home page/gmail (no doubt wrong, but I'm a troglodyte), and after that, got the above error message. Uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox (2x), same error message every time. Download seems to go smoothly, but no luck getting to home page.
