Cannot activate Dreamweaver MX 2004 on Windows 7 64 bit pc?

Hello.
Does anybody in here know how to activate Dreamweaver MX 2004 on a Windows 7 64 bit pc?
I keep getting the message that there is an internet connection problem.
I have deactivated my firewall etc., but it doesn't help me.
Anybody got an idea? Adobe Chat does not have the answer for me!
Regards Anders Fj

Wow! Thank you. It Works! Clever!
This is really helpful for those
of us who are nore professionals. I only use Dreamweaver MX 2004 to
maintain and repair my own small homepage with photos. And I know how to
use Dreamweaver MX 2004 and I am not interested in learning new tools -
not now
ONE MORE QUESTION THOUGH: Where and how do I update my
Dreamweaver MX 2004 now that I have installed Dreamweaver MX 2004 on my
new Win 7 64 bit pc?
Regards

Yes.  The Activation codes can be found in a table near the bottom of this link:

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Windows Vista

Does anyone know if Dreamweaver MX 2004 will install and run
    on the new Windows Vista?

Looks like the only thing I can't do is establish a
    connection to a db. I
get a 405 error with both DWX 2004 and DW8 trial.
If I manually setup the string in code it will work, but then
    you can't use
    server behaviors.
    Just an FYI

  • I cannot activate my original 2004 cs premium?

I fired up my computer, popped disks in, install went fine, but apparently the server is shut down. ive found answers for cs2 but nothing for my old version. in order to work, it needs activation. what do i do?

use the cs2 (for you) upgrade, Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 activation after system crash

    I'm using OSX10.2.8, on a G4 desktop. I have spent all day
working w/ technical support, and no results so far. My G4 crashed
10 days ago. This wiped out some permissions like my FAXSTF
settings, my Firefox Bookmarks (recovered), and to my dismay, any
ability to activate Dreamweaver MX 2004 or Fireworks MX 2004. I've
not had this problem w/ other software.
Activation window pops up, I type in the serial number and am
told I can't access the internet, even though I'm definitely
connected. It says I need an SSL connection, but I've not changed
any of my internet settings or configuration.
I've dumped all relevant DW and FW files (got list from tech
support) and created a root user, downloaded fresh versions from
URLs they provided (even though I have the installation CD),
re-installed as the root user, but no go -- I get the same error
about not connecting to the internet/cannot activate.
What's next? What else can I possibly do?

Jim I am sorry for all the difficulties you have faced attempting to activate Dreamweaver MX 2004.  Which operating system are you trying to install the software on?  Typically the solution offered in http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/macromedia-legacy-activation-error.html has resolved other customers who have faced this difficulty.
Are you attemting to install on an operating system tested for Dreamweaver MX 2004?  You can find the system requirements listed at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-dreamweaver.html#mai n_Dreamweaver_MX_2004_system_requirements.

  • Installing and Activating Studio MX 2004 on Windows 8 64-bit - Astonishing Method

Not being a professional, but having been a "hobbyist" webmaster (now retired from that hobby), I have to build a web page for someone, so I installed Studio MX 2004 on Windows 8.
This was an upgrade from Dreamweaver 4.  I had the serial numbers for both and I entered them appropriately and got a green checkmark on both.  Then it wouldn't activate over the internet since that server, I later learned, has been discontinued.  The 800-number on the installation screen was no longer valid, so I came to Adobe.com and finally found a phone number for activation.  So I tried activating over the phone, but the were asking for things I didn't see, so I gave them what I saw and that didn't work.  So I came to the Adobe website and then I found this page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/macromedia-legacy-activation-error.html
And what I saw there was actually quite astonishing.  It gave me a different serial number to enter into Dreamweaver, and voila!  It was activated and ready to go, and there was no need for the serial number from Dreamweaver 4.
So my first question is:  What is going on here?  Is my old serial number just no longer any good at all, or are they just giving out free serial numbers for outdated software nobody wants to use anymore, except me?
Message was edited by: Phanes7 (Removed Homesite 5 from the title -- it won't recognize my license number, but I don't really need it anyway.)

Yes, all of what you described was obvious.  I was just asking how the software is authenticated as something that's been paid for with what seems to be a "wild card" license number.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 serial number invalid on Windows 7?

I'm trying to switch to a new computer.  I uninstalled Dreamweaver MX 2004 (also called Dreamweaver 7) from my XP machine and tried to install it on my new Windows 7 Home Premium machine.
After I entered in the last digit of the serial number, a red x appeared next to it. The only button available was Go Back. In other words, it said my serial number was invalid.
I entered it a couple of more times and then tried an experiment. I installed it again, entered the exact same serial number, and there wasn't any problem. That is, it's definitely a valid serial number.
Then I found an update to 7.01, which I installed. Now I could enter the serial number and it accepted it, but when I clicked Next, it said that this update required the serial number of the previous product. So I tried entering the serial number for Ultradev, which I believe was the previous product. (If not, it's the only other Dreamweaver disk I have around.)  That didn't work, so I thought maybe 7.01 was looking for the serial number for 7.00, so I tried that. That didn't work.
    Any suggestions?
I have only one web site that I maintain using Dreamweaver, which is why I haven't upgraded. I'd hate to have to go back to Notepad (actually, I'd use Notepad++ if I had to).
I just remembered something. When I installed it, I accepted the default directory, which was Program Files, not Program Files (x86).

    I fixed it!
On http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/, I chose "I need help activating or deactivating my software". It says:
"If you've installed on more than two computers, you must deactivate one copy by starting that software and choosing Help > Deactivate."
Fortunately, I still have my old computer. I re-installed Dreamweaver there (I had already uninstalled it) and chose Help > Activation > Transfer License.
Transfer License became grey (unavailable), which I understood to mean it had deactivate my license.
I went back to my new machine and did this:
    1. Copied the Dreamweaver 7.0 disk to my hard drive.
    2. Right-clicked "Install Dreamweaver MX 2004.exe" and chose "Run as administrator."
    3. Started Dreamweaver. When it asked me for my serial number, I entered it, and it accepted it! Then it asked me for the serial number of the previous version (because it was an upgrade disk). I entered the old serial number (with hyphens) and it accepted it!
So, in other words, that was the problem: I had to deactivate it on my old machine.
After getting it to accept my serial number, I closed it and then ran the 7.01 update, once again running it as administrator.
Now the only problem is that importing my .ste files doesn't work. I used Manage Sites > Import and chose the .ste file, but got an error message that says "No items match your search."  I puzzled on that one for a bit. Was it saying that it couldn't find my .ste file? I could find my .ste file, and it could, too, because it showed a list of them when I clicked Import.
I opened one with Notepad++ and discovered that it's an XML file. I think I now know the problem:  The .ste file has pathnames in it that represent the file structure on my old XP machine (D:\Documents and Settings...).  The file structure on my Windows 7 machine is C:\Users\[username]...
So, after dinner, I need to search the forums on what to do, or back up my .ste files and then try editing the paths with Notepad++.

  • Installed Dreamweaver MX 2004 update for Windows and now Dreamweaver won't open. Help?

I was having some glitches uploading to a host I ftp to often so I decided to check for a Dreamweaver update for MX 2004.  When I found the Windows update and tried to install - it told me to uninstall Extensions. I uninstalled extensions and continued with the installation of the update.  Now Dreamwever will not open at all - it says Dreamweaver MX 2004 has stopped working.  I can see the update is installed since the version is 7.0.1.  Any ideas on how to undo the update? I have no idea where this program disk is right now for reinstallation plus all my servers are already setup....

You might try Windows System Restore to a point before you installed the update.
    Good luck.

  • I cannot activate the Windows.

I bought a new Dell inspiron 2 weeks ago. One day all the default apps disappeared with no reason. I went to my university technology center for help, and they reinstalled the windows 8 for me.
However, the computer I bought is pre-installed with window 8.1. But now my computer is windows8. Here is the problem. I cannot activate the windows.  And I could not find product key for my windows because Dell said it was injected in the computer.
    What should I do now?

  • Satellite S50D-A-10G - Windows cannot activate at this time

    Good Afternoon One & All
Can anybody help or advise me please on a few issues that I am having.
I have a Toshiba Satellite S50-D, which I bought from Laptop Outlet Ltd through Amazon in Setember 2014.
Was really happy with it until recently.
I activated Windows 8.1 when I first received it but just lately I am getting messages saying that I need to activate Windows.
This I have tried to do several times & each time that I do the screen shows that " Windows cannot activate at this time please try later " I dont get get a telephone option to phone, and so am confused as to why I am being asked to re-activate.
I tried to contact the vendor who told me to contact Microsoft, this I did & was told that the product key that came with my laptop is for Windows7 or Windows 8 not 8.1, he told me to get in touch with Toshiba for a new Product code, this I did & after an hour on the phone where the Toshiba engineer remotely went through my laptop informed me that I have a trojan (which Norton nor Eset Nod 32 discovered BTW) & that he could sell me an AV software for 99, at no point did he try to give me any advise on why the product ID would not work nor did he try to give me another code to try.
Is anybody else out there finding that they are being asked to re-activate Windows 8.1 which comes pre-installed on their laptops or anyone who knows how to fix this issue?
Sorry for the long winded post, but needed to vent as getting quite frustrated & dont really want to take laptop back to factory settings & lose all my stuff.
    Stephen

the notebook was preinstalled with Win 8.1 64bit OS.
This OS is preconfigured and will be activated automatically connection the notebook to internet for the first time!
    More info:
Windows 8 has not been automatically activated after the first boot of your new Notebook
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ET0000R01.htm
if the system cannot be activated even connection to the internet, perform the HDD recovery and try again.
You said you are novice: well, the notebook contains preinstalled user manual. I recommend you to read the whole document.
There you can find necessary and useful info about the notebook.
