  • Cannot activate ipad after updating to iOS 4.2.1

I just update my ipad to iOS4.2.1 but unable to activate it.
The message on itunes (10.1.0.56) reads "We are unable to complete your activation at this time. Please disconnect your ipad from your computer and reconnect it later and we should be able to activate it"
But even after I tried several times, (and on other ppl's computer, so it's an internet connection issue), I am still unable to activate. And always show an "iunes + white USB cable" logo on ipad screen and the same message on itunes.
    Any can help? PS:
1)I update through local .ipsw file, (shift + update), the file is no problem
    2)My ipad is not JB

    Howdy syafiqahmad,
If your iMessage and FaceTime still hasn't activated by now, I would recommend you use this specific section of the following article as long as you verify you've done all the other troubleshooting from it for this issue:
If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime
If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.

  • HT1430 What to do if the message shows "cannot activate iphone" after updating ios5?

After updating to ios5, got the message "no sim card".   I turn off and restart, then reset language, country or region, connect to itune, "cannot activate iphone"  I dont know what's going on?

    There are several possibilites:
Your security software (antivirus and firewall) is preventing iTunes from communicating with Apple's Activation server, gs.apple.com.
You have a redirect in your hosts file for gs.apple.com. Open the hosts file and delete any lines that contain gs.apple.com. For the location of the hosts file, on a Mac it's /etc/hosts, on Windows it's c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.
Your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it from the carrier it was locked to, and updating it the phone became locked to the original carrier. For this there is no solution that can be discussed in an Apple forum.

  • Cannot find backup after updating to iOS 5

    Hi all,
This morning I updated my 3GS to iOS 5. Because I kept getting errors, I backed up my phone, copied to bachkup to another location, then restored my phone to factory settings, then updated to iOS 5. That was all fine, but now I cannot restore my phone from the backup. The backup disappeared from its original location, and when I copied it back there, iTunes did not recognize it. It only recognizes an older backup that was in the same folder.
How can I make sure everything is restored from my lastest backup?
Also, running iTunes on Windows Vista 64 bits, if that matters, and I do have iTunes 10.5.
    Thanks!

Solved it by copying the backup files from one computer to another. They are found in this folder on PC
    C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
The restore on the other computer went without problems, though I have to reinstall all apps, but all settings, photos and so on has been restored.

  • Can't sign into iMessage or FaceTime after updating to iOS 8.3

I recently purchased a brand-new iPad Mini 3 (actually just a week ago), and decided to update to the newest iOS since I hadn't done so yet with my iPhone. Thank God, I didn't. The update messed something up, and now I am unable to successfully log into my iMessage/FaceTime apps. I've tried reseting the network settings, rebooting the iPad, making sure location and automatic date & time settings were on, and logging in and out of my iTunes account, but nothing has worked for me so far. The farthest I've gotten is the step which asks how I would like to receive my messages/FaceTime requests (through phone number, iCloud address, etc.), but after hitting 'next', I am redirected back to the sign in page.
I can, however, successfully log into my iTunes account (which uses the same iCloud login), so I'm positive that I'm typing my information correctly. There also isn't a problem with my wi-fi--I swear.
What's worse, is that when I went onto my MacBook Pro, I noticed that my iMessages weren't sending at all, either. I logged out of iMessage, hoping to simply log back in again, but now it's giving me the old "Could not sign in to iMessage. An error occurred during activation. Try again."
The only thing I've updated is the iPad, so I don't understand why my MacBook is being affected, too. My iPhone, however, is working perfectly fine.
I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue, right?

  • Cannot restore settings after updating to iOS 5

I have upgraded successfully to iOS 5, well almost, because just after the upgrade finished, I wen't through the settings (language, country, WI-FI) and was then given a choice to set as a new device or restore from backup. Since my backup is on my computer I chose restore from iTunes.
But restoring fails, and this happens for both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I've been given a number of errors (-19 or -50) and sometimes it just says "iTunes cannot restore iPad because the backup session failed".
This happens on both my iPad and iPhone no matter which backup file I choose.
With the iPhone I've tried to put it in recovery mode and reset to factory settings, but I still can't restore it.
Anyone else with this problem, and does anyone know what to do?

    READ THIS!!!!!
For anybody having these issues here is what I did.
First of all, BACKUP your original backup, yes a backup of a backup. First of all make hidden files visible, at your explorer go to tools>folderoptions>view and show hidden files and folders. If you cant find the tools at your window press alt and a toolbar will appear. The file is located in C/users/YOURACCOUNT/appdata/roaming/applecomputer/mobilesync/backup.
Again this is just a precaution.
Now if you some sort of anitvirus program, ESPECIALLY if it is AVAST. Turn it off! For some reason it is conflicting with restoring with the backup.
Restart Itunes and plugin your iphone, it will probably still come up with the (-50) error. Ignore this! Now right click your iphone under devices at the left side of itunes. Then choose then do restore from backup and wait. Hopefully your Iphone screen will say restore in progress!
Now I just hope this helps someone as I was freaking out because I was updating my bros iphone. And he had a lot of saves and photos etc.
If you have ANY questions please ask as I know how frustrating this error is.

  • Problem with FaceTime after updating to iOS 4.3

Hi, since I updated my iPhone 4 to the iOS 4.3 I have been having issues with FaceTime. Either it freezes, or my camera doesn't activate when I answer FaceTime calls (I can see the other person's video, but the little square from my camera appears blank and the others say they only get a black screen). The only way to solve this is hanging up and making the call myself, then my camera will work just fine...
Before the update FaceTime worked beautifully... Is this a bug? Any ideas?

    Hi bent71,
Can you try turning off application syncing and removing all apps and then downloading a fresh copy? Ensure that you "Transfer purchases" in iTunes first by right-clicking the iPhone and selecting that.
This should remove all applications and their data, but would be a way to test......
    You could also ultimately try to restore your device and set up as new using the below information;
Setting up your iPhone as New: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3828
This would be more invasive though and would require you to migrate all your information across, it sounds simply that the application data has become corrupt and doing the above step should resolve this but you will lose all your application information.....

Here is NI's webpage about LabVIEW 2012SP1 http://www.ni.com/labview/release-details/
LabVIEW 2012 Service Pack 1 is an exclusive update to LabVIEW 2012 for NI Standard Service Program (SSP) customers. There are no new product features introduced in service pack releases; instead, these releases provide bug fixes and improved stability for LabVIEW 2012.
In my opinion, bug fixes for a specific release such as LabVIEW 2012 should be FREE; NI has chosen to be yet another greedy company.
I have to agree.  Your words were more opinionated than mine, but yes, I agree with you.

  • The email page will not open after updating to ios 8.3

I cannot access email after updating to IOS 8.3

If you search on google this is an old problem that many people have after upgrading devices and restoring from backups. If I can remember correctly, just re-sync the device in iTunes, and it should sort it out.

  • Cannot activate iMessage after iOS update.

Cannot activate iMessage after iOS update. "Activation unsuccessful" I cannot activate it.

Have you updated your iOS to 5.1? Just confirming as it says "iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1" in your thread.
Double check if you have credit in your mobile in order to activate iMessage.
Turn iMessage off and on again, than turn off your phone (long press display off and on button) and slide to turn off. Turn your phone back on, enter your "Apple I.D" in the iMessage window and wait till it verifies everything.
Tell us if it solves the issue.
