Cannot activate new account in Mail, random misfuncioning. Reinstall Mail?

I am not able to activate a new POP account in Mail (I already have 1 POP and 1 .Mac active accounts). Other Mac with identical software has no problem at all....!
Maybe too many emails, or just the Mail software is corrupted.
Do I need to reinstall Mail? How to do it without loosing precious emails in memory?

I wouldn't reinstall Mail just yet.
I'm having the same problem at work. I'm starting to suspect it is an issue with 10.4.8.
Up until yesterday I could start new accounts, but they couldn't receive mail. Today I can't install a new account at all.
I can set up Exchange accounts, however, through Mail.
What exactly happens when you try to activate the POP account.

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in the country where you and your iTunes account are to get the questions reset.

While I am no fan of Best Buy and would not buy a lightbulb from them I doubt you issues have anything to do with your iMac and more to do with your lack of experience and simply getting bad advice. Judging by you post I suspect you have loaded your computer down with a lot of crapware and that has caused it's problems. For example running antivirus apps on a Mac not only is a waste of time, it's a waste of money, system resources and will eventually create more problems that it solves. Please begin educating yourself on the subject by reading Thomas Reeds articles on the subject, Thomas is a frequent and knowledgeable contributor to these forums. The good news is here are absolutely no, zero, zippo viruses for OS X. There are other types of malware available (for example trojans) however they differ greatly from viruses in that the use has to download and install them, whereas viruses do not work that way. OS X is not like MS Windows and is extremely secure.
My suggestion at this point would be to clean your computer of the crapware (including antivirus apps) however before doing so please download and install EtreCheck and post its report. Then we can see how your computer has been configured and begin to give you some advice on the next steps.

Cannot activate Guest Account

Hi, I cannot activate the guest account. In the menu user&groups, the text and the checkbox "allow guests to sign in on this computer" is grey and cannot be activated. Thank you for your assistance. Joerg

I had this problem over a year ago.
I tried everything I could, as did the guys at the AppleStore Genius Bar, but eventually I had to go ahead and reinstall my OS. It turns out some files were either missing or corrupted
I know that's not exactly advice, but it was the only way I could solve the problem. Thankfully my personal data wasn't affected by the reinstall, but I did back things up just in case.

Cannot setup new account

I want to create a new skype account for my business, but when I put in the Skype name I want to use, the forms says the name is "Skype Name not available". Yet when I login to skype with my personal account and do a serch for the name, it says "Skype Name Not Found". So, if it's Not Found, why can't I create it as a new account?

I got an answer to this from Skype. The account name I want to use was registered by someone else years ago and they have since let the account lapse. There is no way to take possession of the name. Oh well.

Cannot Create New Account

Created new user account and then created new user in iChat. All attempts to log in to the new iChat account give error message that either user name or password is incorrect. Have created two additional (and different) account/password combinations with the same result.
Have trashed both com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist and com.apple.iChat.plist but no luck.
Problem is on Power Mac G4
Suggestions most welcome.

Hi George,
Did you create .mac or AIM accounts when you created new users in iChat? I don't mean to make you sound like a fool, and I'm probably just misunderstanding your post, but it almost sounds to me like you created a new account on your computer (Like "User: George Password: abc123") that would be used to log into OS X and then were trying to use George/abc123 to connect with iChat.
If that is not the case, are you trying to connect with a .mac or AIM account? That'll be a good place to start the troubleshooting.

Cannot successfully add new user account, cannot activate Guest account

I've been attempting to add a new user account on my MacBook but to no avail.
After entering data and hitting the Create Account button in System Preferences, no new user appears in the list. Strangely, in the /Users folder of my HD, the new user files/folders have been created.
If I attempt to add a new user with completely different account name and details, I have the same issue. If I attempt to add a previously inputted user again using the exact details as before, or merely the same account name, I receive a red error message indicating that the account name is already in use when hitting the Create Account button.
Probably related to this, when I attempt to activate the Guest account, I get an infinite loading wheel next to the checkbox sentence "Allow guests to log in to this computer" and the Guest account in the user list pane remains disabled.
I've tried instantly logging out/in and instantly restarting my machine after creating an account, erasing all related preference files... I'm fully updated. Even though it seems like the incorrect option, I can't think of any other solution than a OS reinstall. Can anyone help before I take more drastic measures?

All I can think to suggest is to use Disk Utility to repair permissions, grab the combo update (search the forums - it seems to be a complete update often used to if an updated file has been corrupted from the rolling updates) and then another repair permissions.
That sequence seems to be a fairly generic suggestion which solves a few issues, whether or not it will help in your case I don't know but that is one odd problem you have.

Cannot Activate [New] Ipad - Ipad Not Detected on iTunes

I received my iPad through the mail, yesterday, and have been unable to use it due to it's inability to reach the activation server ('Could Not Activate iPad' error). I read via the forum that it could be related to a server overdrive, however, it is now 24 hrs later and I am still unable to activate it.
My WiFi Connect is perfect; all 3 bars. The iPad looks to have the new IOS 7.
I decided to go forth suggestion of activating the iPad via iTunes, so I downloaded it onto my laptop, following all of the reccommended steps. Nothing happened. I clicked Help>Run Diagnostics, everything is fine and dandy except for one test result stating 'No Ipad, Ipod, etc. Dectected'.
How am I to activate my iPad without the option of using WiFi, nor iTunes. Help!

Make sure that the version of iTunes on your laptop is iTunes 11.1 or later. If not update iTunes.
Try resetting the iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Then try activating again.
Also check to make sure your Wi-Fi network router is not running a firewall. That might interfere with activation. Once your phone is up and working you can turn the firewall back on. Also turn off any virus protection software on your computer during the activation process.

Email problem-cannot add new account,IMAP not responding

My emails were working good on my ipad3, but all of sudden it stopped to receive emails, just kept loading. I have two accounts: gmail and yahoo. Neither of them are working. I deleted both account and tried to add back in. But I got the error message said "cannot connect with SSL, would you like to try without SSL?" I chose yes and it said " IMAP is not responding. Check your Internet connection and that you enterred the right information in the incoming mail server"
I searched on the Internet and found out many people are having this problem, I tried all kinds of solutions including shutting down the iPad, verify gmail setting, Check outgoing mail server... But none of those worked for neither of the two email accounts, and I still cannot add any email account on my iPad.
Can someone help me with this please? It's so frustrated :(

Cannot activate new apple id in iMessage

I have setup a new apple id for my daughter's ipod Touch. When I go to Settings>Messages>Enter Apple ID, I do so with her e-mail address and password that I setup on iTunes. I tap "sign in" but then another login screen appears asking for the password for her Apple ID (e-mail address used in last screen). I enter the correct password for the Apple ID and it returns a message that the user id or password is incorrect.
I'm completely baffled.....can anyone help?

maybe you could connect your phone to your computer and have itunes open click on the store in itunes, log in to your account and then go to manage your devices and remove the phone from the list there and try then to delete imessage and update it

So, after an issue with my old sim, i was sent a replacement by EE (T-Mobile) and arrived fine, put into my phone, a Blackberry Curve and problem sorted.Logged into my MyEE account and went to activate the SIM as the interactive services don't work, like checking balance and so on, the messages send, but i get nothing back.But when i enter the details; the mobile number, the PIN they send you and then the SIM serial number, i get a message saying the serial number is not regognised. Help?

What is the exact problem as to why my new account cannot be activated via the email with the link to click to activate my new account?

I clicked on the link, got directed to Mozilla'a site, and got this message: "Something is wrong. We cannot activate your account. Please make sure that you have clicked the correct link in your email or typed in the correct address." Did I give the wrong email address? My other email address I use to sign into Yahoo! Mail is: smokefeather12001 at yahoo dot com. What do I need to do to get my account here activated?

Mail App - New Accounts not saving

Im creating new accounts, but once I close the Mail app they are not saving (I can see the account while I have Mail open, but once I close it they dissapear from both the Mail app mail folders and the Accounts/Settings).

I have fixed it! All I did was to select "replace all information in iPhone from Maill" and worked.
