I have the same problem on both my iMac G5 (Home Machine) and my PowerBook G4 (Work Machine). As a classroom music teacher, we are constantly making new compilation CD's (all okay under Australian Copyright Laws) for our classes and sharing these CD's between the music staff. As I have found out, if iTunes (v. 4.9 & v.5.0) cannot obtain a match from CDDB, the Audio CD will only show up on the desktop and not in the iTunes Source List.
A work around is to disconnect from your internet source. For me, it is a normal disconnect from the internet, ensuring that there are no "connect when needed" preferences turned on. At work, I manually disconnect the ethernet cord from the back of the PowerBook. Whenever I have done this, the pre-burnt CD appears in the iTunes Source List.
If you do not want to disconnect from the internet, then you will need to go to "File -> Add to library... ->" then choose the Audio CD from the Desktop. This has worked for me also, but it does mean adding the track names and then converting to AAC or MP3.
Hope this is of some help.

  • Cannot add CD to Source List

ITunes 5 or 6 will not add a pre-recorded CD to the Source List. It flashes the CDDB window up for a second...then nothing. The OS labels it "Audio CD" on the desktop.
I have re-installed the OS and iTunes and blown the prefs...same result.

  • Cannot add new items to a value list in AW database

I have a database which I have been using for many years. One of the fields is a value list. I just went to add another item to the list, and no matter what I do, the Create button is grayed out. I have another value list in the same database that works fine.
There are currently 170 items in the value list that is causin the problem, but I didn't think that there was a limit to the number of items that can be is a value list. (At least there is nothing in the AW technical specifications to indicate thin. I duplicated the existing database, deleted about 20 items from the list, then saved the file, and reopened it, and still cannot add new items to that value list. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

    Oops
    I read too fast.
Here is a short script which may help.
Replace the pop-up item by a text one and edit the property myList in my script to fit your needs.
Select the field to fill and run the script.
Then choose an item in the displaid list. It will be pasted in the selected field.
This trick would give you to work with a "no limit" list of items.

the front document is a database one
and that a text field is selected,
run the script to select an item in a list
and paste it in the field.

  • Cannot add apps to iTunes Wish List for my ipod

When using iTunes on my Macbook, I cannot add apps (for ipod, ipad, etc. NOT for computer) to my Wish List.  When I try, a pop up error alert box says that "Your request is temporarily unable to be processed., to try again later."  The odd thing is that I can add music albums to my Wish List.  I am not trying to add previously bought apps, but new ones that I find that I might want later.  I used to be able to do this, but not as of recently.  I even updated my Itunes to see if that would help.  No effect.  Is it my wifi network,?  Any ideas of how to remedy this?

thanks.  I opened iTunes this morning and miraculously my wish list seems to be working.   i see one app i had added to be downloaded.  I am able to remove songs from wish list and add songs and preview all.
last i heard from the customer service person was that they referred the issue to a senior level support person.  this after i sent them several screen shots of my wish list and the error about unable to add to existing wish list because ittem was already there.
I have not heard from them that my issue is resolved.  I will give them a day or so to get back to me to confirm they fixed the problelm.
very strange.  at least they acknowledged the problem did indeed exist as they referred me to the online user forum for possible solutions.  I indicated the problem persisted as early as June 2010 and as late as Jan 2012. and I had upgraded to ver 10.5.3 as well as remove and re-install even AFTER they kept telling me they removed my wishlist.

  • Cannot add more than one reminder, add new list, to reminder app in iOS 7.1, app crashes a lot

Default iOS reminder app: Cannot add more than one reminder, cannot add new list, after updating to iOS 7.1. The app crashes frequently on editing or just by pressing return..

    Hello Kyem22,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the Reminders app quitting unexpectedly.
The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching all the applications on your iPad:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting all the apps, I recommend restarting your iPad and then resetting if it's still not working:
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPad. The Reminders app is not something that can individually be reinstalled, but backing up your iPhone and restoring the iOS software will reinstall the application:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • I cannot add a site to the list of allow micro sites on Flash Player settings manager

I cannot add a site to the list of allow micro sites on Flash Player settings manager.
as Adobe says at his help document (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlayer/LSM/WS6aa5ec234ff3f285139dc56112e3786b68c-7ff8.htm l):
Displays a list of previously visited websites that have asked to use the camera or microphone on your computer. You can allow or block the use of your camera and microphone by sites on the list. You can also ask to be prompted for permission to use them. Finally, you can choose to remove sites from the list. Removing a site deletes all settings and data stored for that site in Flash Player.
The list initially contains only the sites you have already visited. If you want to specify camera and microphone settings for sites you have not yet visited, you can choose to add sites to the list. Once a site is on the list, you can specify whether to always allow camera and microphone use, ask permission, or never allow camera and microphone use by that site.
I cannot find any button to add a website. Can you help me please.
    Thanks in advanced

  • Frustrating that recently on my i-phone 4s that I cannot add time/date alerts to reminder lists.  How to correct??

It is frustrating that recently on my i-phone 4s that i cannot add time/date alerts in reminders.  How to fix??

You can, but stupid rules in reminders.
After you set up a new list and hit done
Tap the info button to add date and time, repeats etc.
    I don't like it.
I will use the task list attached to my calendar app instead.

  • Cannot add multiple file screens on a specific path

I have a situation where the limitation of adding a single file screen to a specified path just doesn't work.
    Using Windows Server 2008 R2 64Bit
We don't allow users to store things like images, video and audio on any server and we want to be notified whenever someone attempts to do so.
To that end we setup the email notification and it works great.
The problem is that now, we get a notification for some file types where we don't want notification, but because you can only setup a single file screen for a specific path, the notifications are sent, in the hundreds most of the time.
What I really need is the ability to create a file screen for images, videos, audio and executable files that will send notification to the person responsible for ensuring users do not violate the usage policy, and a separate file screen for other
files that we have restricted because they simply create clutter and for the most part are automatically generated by the OS when the user logs into the domain ... things like desktop.ini and thumbs.db files. For these files, I do not wish to receive
notification because it isn't really a violation of the computer use policy so much as it is a restriction put in place to prevent unfettered clutter from filling the limited space we allocate for users.
Is there a solution that can be instituted that can make this happen?

    Hi,
As you said we cannot set more than 1 file screen for a specific folder.
From your description you would like to stop the reports for some default files like desktop.ini, thumbs.db etc, how about add them into Exception list in the file screen you created for that folder? This seems to be the only workaround in current situation.

  • How to add item to a List with a bounded wildcard

    Hi,
Is there a way to add a subtype instance to a List with a bounded wildcard? For example, say I have an
abstract class called Car. Then I have 2 concrete subclasses--Ford and Toyota. Now say I have another
class that contains a prepopulated list and is wildcard bounded like this: List<? extends Car> carList. I
want to add a method where I pass in a Car subtype as a parameter and then add it into this list, e.g:
    public void addCar(Car car) {
    carList.add(car);
Trying this, I keep getting "cannot find symbol" compilation errors. When I went back to read the Generics
tutorial by Bracha, he mentions that explicitly adding a subtype, e.g. carList.add(new Ford()), can not be
done. But here I'm adding the "upper bound" of the wildcard, i.e. the Car type. Therefore there should be no
discrepancy between supertype and subtype an thus the carList.add(car) should be ok, IMO.
Am I misunderstanding something with this logic? Also, if carList.add(car) can not be done, then how can
I go about doing something similar which will allow me to add subtypes to a "generic" list?
    Thanks in advanced!
    -los

I get a compilation error expecting an Object instead of a Car. Of course you did. List<? super Car> is a list into which you can put cars -- and possibly other stuff. List<? extends Car> is a list out of which you can get cars (possibly of different makes).
Do you need a list that you can put cars in and get cars out? That's List<Car>
This isn't a linguistic problem you are having; this is a design problem. If you have a function that takes an argument which is a list that you can put any kind of car into and be sure of getting a car out of, it isn't reasonable to pass in a List<Ford> (because the function might put in a Chevy) or a List<Object> (but there might be motorcycles already in there). By the requirements you have, you need a List<Car> and nothing else.
Yes, you could use a cast, but all you are doing is circumventing the type system by saying "I know this List<Object> only has Cars in it."

  • I Cannot Add Buddies in iChat 4 and 5 - How do I fix this ?

Disclaimer: Apple does not necessarily endorse any suggestions, solutions, or third-party software products that may be mentioned in the topic below. Apple encourages you to first seek a solution at Apple Support. The following links are provided as is, with no guarantee of the effectiveness or reliability of the information. I Cannot Add Buddies in iChat 4 and 5
Many people are reporting that they cannot add Buddies to either iChat 4 or iChat 5.
The Symptoms are that the Buddy appears in the Buddy List and then does the "Brightening/Fading" cycle but fails to be anywhere in the list including Off Line Buddies.
To Show Off Line Buddies, highlight the Buddy list to bring to the "front".
Then go to the View Menu and Enable Show Off Line Buddies.
(there is also an Option to display these in a separate Group).
There can be many causes and I will attempt to deal with then in the order that they are most likely.
    A) The Contact is already in the Address Book.
When Adding a Buddy via the use of the + Sign at the Bottom of the Buddy List (Then Add Buddy) or invoking it from the Buddies menu a drop down appears to slide down out of the Buddy List Header area
In this slide out/drop down, you get the chance to Add the Screen Name and then the First Name Last Name details of the Buddy.
iChat checks the Address Book and if the First Name, Last Name items do not match any contact in the Address Book already then the Buddy will be added to the Buddy list.
As the Address Book does not allow two contacts to have the same name they will not be added to the iChat Buddy List if the name exists already.
In iChat 3 and earlier there was an Error Message that popped up saying there was Feedbag Error
    See here for More
Note: AIM Protocols call Lists "Feedbags". Contents (Buddies) are "Food" and of course Food is kept in Feedbags.
The Address Book is one Feedbag in this case and the Screen Name (only) Buddy List held on the AIM Server is the other.
The Software puts the two together for Display purposes
    The Fix.
    Either:
    1) Add them as Screen Name only
    2) Use the Arrow head at the end of the Last Name line to open the Address Book and pick the Contact.
    3) Open the Address Book and Edit their Card to Add the Screen Name, then drag them from the Name column to the iChat Buddy List.
    4) During any type of Chat use the item in the Buddies Menu to Add the person (it will display their Screen Name in Dark text if not in the Buddy List - Then item 2 can also be used)
    B) Parental Controls
There are similar Symptoms if the Mac User Account is subject to Parental Controls.
If the Mac User Account on the computer is not an Admin account it is a Standard or Managed one
A Managed one has Parental Controls Enabled.
There is a Tab for Mail and iChat.
If it is turned on for iChat then all buddies are Blocked initially (in iChat 4 Jabber and Bonjour Buddy List cannot be used.)
Adding AIM valid Screen Names (AIM, Those with either @mac.com or @me.com endings) to the allow List Unblocks those Buddies and they will show in the Buddy List as On or Off line
    The Fix.
In this case if you are the Managed account you have to get the Admin account to add the Buddy to the Buddy allowed list in Parental Controls.
    Exception
There is a very large exception.
Due to the fact that the way Parental Controls blocks names until they appear in the Allow List there can be a problem if testing the same iChat Details in a Test Account.
Lets say you are the Admin User on the Mac.
You set up a second Mac User Account called Test.
In this you set up iChat with the same details (Screen name) you use in your Main Mac User Account.
You then test Parental Controls by turning it On and setting the iChat Limit option.
Then you add to the allow List one or two AIM valid names.
You check iChat and find they are the only Buddies that show up.
It works, so you return to your main Mac User Account and discover that most of your Buddies are missing.
On checking the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts > Security Tab you find the Allow Specific People option is Enabled and the list only includes those Buddies you set in Parental Controls.
Choosing allow All does not seem to bring back the Buddies even if you Log out of the Test Mac User Account.
    The Fix Here
Is to Disable all the Parental Control Settings again (Remove names from any list) before Logging out of the Test Mac User Account.
The cause is partly to do with the Setting in iChat > Preferences > General Section that reads "When I quit iChat, Set the Status to Off Line" which is not the default - leaving a partial login for Off Line Messaging. As a consequence your Buddy List is constantly being told to block certain Screen Names.
A Variation on this is if you have Two Log-ins of your Screen Name from either different apps or computers.
Altering the Buddy List in one effects the other login. The computer or app that was logged in first take precedence.
    C) Adding Buddies as the wrong type (In Buddy List - But always Off Line)
This applies more to iChat 4 than it does to iChat 5
At the Add Buddy Screen/Slide in iChat 4 you have to choose if the Buddy is an AIM, @mac. or MobileMe name in a drop down.
The software shows the @mac.com or @me.com endings in grey in the Screen Name text field and adds this for you.
This can lead to Buddies being added as the wrong type as in ralphjohnsr added as [email protected] etc.
It can also lead to people being added with 2 @ symbols in the Screen Name ([email protected]@mac.com) and iChat not always telling you this is not allowed.
In both iChat 4 and 5, as Jabber IDs/Screen Names also look like Email Addresses, we have to also consider whether AIM names have been added to a Jabber List or Jabber Names added to AIM valid Lists.
    D) Plain old Typos
Here I am talking about misreading someone's Screen Name and typing that in (Such as receiving and email with a Screen Name in it and typing the letter O for 0 (zero).)
And of course, just plain typing mistakes.
The Fix for C) and D)
The Buddy in this case will be in the Buddy List but will always be Off line
Highlight the Buddy with one click.
Do a Get Info (Apple()/Command(⌘) key and I key together) and their Info card will show up.
    Correct as Required.

    Thanks Ralph,
    Some thoughts.
To Show Off Line Buddies, highlight the Buddy list to bring to the "front".
Then go to the {color:red}Show Menu{color} and Enable Show Off Line Buddies.
(there is also an Option to display these in a separate Group).
Do you mean under the {color:green}View{color} menu where I see Show Offline Buddies? (both iChat 4.0.8 and 5.0.3)
A)… In the {color:red}slide out that appears from the top{color} of the Buddy list you get the chance to Add the Screen Name and then the First Name Last Name details of the Buddy.
I kept looking for a button for the "slide out" at the top of the Buddy list. Found out it's the dialog box that appears when you click "+" (Add a new buddy…) at the bottom of the list. Yes, I can act like a beginner too
(Slide out to me sounds like a sideways slide out, versus a Pop Up or Pop Down Dialog box).
    As the Address Book does not allow two contacts to have the same name they will not be added to the iChat Buddy List {color:green}if the name already exists.{color}
The Address Book i one Feedbag in this case
The Address Book {color:green}is{color} one Feedbag in this case
    B) Adding AIM valid Screen Names (AIM, Those with either @mac.com or @me.com endings) to the allow List Unblocks those Buddies and they will show in the Buddy List as On {color:red}of{color} Off line
…     as On {color:green}or{color} Off line
    *The Fix.
    Exception*
{color:red}The{color} you add to the allow {color:red}List{color} one or two AIM valid names.
{color:green}Then{color} you add to the allow one or two AIM valid names.
    C)
At the Add Buddy Screen/Slide in {color:red}ichat{color} 4
    At the Add Buddy Screen/Slide in {color:green}iChat 4{color}
In both iChat 4 and 5 as Jabber IDs/Screen Names also look like Email Addresses we have to also consider

  • Is there a way to add an existing distribution list to a document?

i created a distribution list with CVI1 and i am trying to add it to a document, NOT via the distribution list but from the document itself.
via the "environment" menu, I can create a new list or change a list in which the document is already written in: but i cannot add an existing list from the document.
    any idea?

    i am aware  of that: that i why i asked this question. i need to upload distribution lists to be added to documents and i did not find a way to add the documents to the list (cvi2) in a recording: the amount of document i can add is limited to the amount of lines i see on the screen;
my final goal is to add existing lists to documents or documents to lists, via upload (excel sheet or txt file) LSMW or other methods!
any idea is welcome: i have searched and not found solutions
