Cannot add data

I received the following error message when I tried to open a CS3 Indesign document that I had worked on last week. The document has some images in it and uses a lot of different script types.
i cannot add data "unknown document"
I am working on an IMAC OS10.5.6

You'll be better off asking this in the Mac forum than here in Windows, but it sounds like the file has been damaged. Try opening it as a copy.

Hi there,
There are several computers working on a server and two other employees were working on the same indesign document at the same time, causing both of them to suddenly crash and then the file became corrupted. When I try and open the document I get the error message 'cannot add data to unknown document'. I still get the same message even when trying to open the file from my desktop. I am using CS5.5 and am on an imac....
I have tried to find a solution to this in the threads, but so far no luck! Have also tried to call Adobe but they were no help . Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

First off, two people shouldn't have the ability to work on the same file at the same time. That was a bug in the initial release of CS5 or CS5.5 (not sure which) but it was fixed in the first patch. If you haven't updated to 7.5.3 you need to do that to prevent future problems and take advantage of other bug fixes.
As far as your file, it doesn't sound all that hopeful. Try opening as a copy. If that doesn't work you may have to rebuild, or if more cost effective, use the Markzware recovery service: Bad InDesign or Quark File Recovery Submission Form

IDCS3 error message "Cannot add data to unknown document"

I am using a Mac and last week I opened an ID document from my flash drive, worked on it, saved it back to my flash drive and reopened it just to make sure it saved right. Now when I try to open it, it says "Cannot add data to unknown document". All the permissions look fine. Is it a file problem? Is there anything I can do to recover it?

That is a very dangerous workflow. NEVER work off of removable media.
Always copy to your harddrive and work there.
That said, try copying the file to your harddrive now and working on that.

Cannot add data to existing table

Hello All,
I have a very trivial issue. I have an existing test table in SQL and I use DBVisualizer client to connect to the server.
I have only six records in the table that I am testing. I have a field called "SITE". Within this field I have the following data:
Site:
NYC
LA
BOS
I am trying to import a csv file with 6 row of records, where I have records in there where 'site' = "BOS".
But when I try to import, I get the following error:
"Violation of Unique Key constraint 'ix1_test'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.test'."
When I try to add the records manually, SQL allows me to add all data into the row, except when I try to add "BOS" into the site field. Then the error happens.
What I do not understand is, I imported a previous csv with nine (9) records with multiple rows of records with "BOS" in the site field and had no issues.
Why is this occurring now?

Thanks for the help Dan. But it seems like I need the SQL admin to make some changes to the table. What should I tell the SQL Admin to do on my test table?
Or since this is a test table, and I believe I have full access to it, is there anything I can run not to make those fields part of a unique constraint?
I can't really make a recommendation without knowing more about the data. I see that this is a test table, but is the intent to model something in the real world? In the latter case, you might want more than one table (e.g. rooms, devices,
and device types). That would allow you to keep an inventory of computer devices and their locations with any number of devices per room.
If your intent is to just play around inserting and selecting data without regard to data integrity, you can drop the constraint with the command below, assuming you have permissions to do so.
ALTER TABLE dbo.test DROP CONSTRAINT idx1_test;
I do have one minor recommendation for your admin about the constraint naming, though. Although primary key and unique constraints are implemented as a unique index, I suggest a naming convention other than one that suggests an index. This will
help avoid confusion with indexes that are used to improve performance rather than ensure data integrity. For example, you could name this unique constraint something like UQ_test_1 rather than ix1_test.

Error - Cannot add data to "unknown document"

I have had this happen to me twice in two days.
The file which I save constantly as I'm working on, comes up with this error and I can't open the .indd file.
I don't have any network, new external drive or installed any new updates that might affect things.
What's happening??

If you rebuilt from scratch and it's working, there's probably no need to export to IDML. This kind of thing can happen with files from previous versions of ID that you open and edit in a new version. If you have to update legacy files I recommend exporting them to IDML (or .inx if the version supports it) from the original version, then opening that for conversion, and don't overwrite the old version -- you may find you need it for backup later.

Okay this might just be me (new to ODT for VS) - but If I start VS, go Test -> Add Test.
Create a Database Unit Test.

add a test checksum condition , and try to configure the checksum condition.. (Hit configure on the properties - under misc).
I go to new connection ...
I only have SQL Server (sqlClient) available. Is the unit test generator/validator something that oracle does not currently yet support?
(Yes the ODT 11i for VS 2008 is installed, can add a data connection to Oracle systems/query oracle in VS - just cannot add a Oracle database connection for unit database tests).
Or has anybody found a way to make this very useful piece of functionality work ?

The same thing happens, If I go File -> Open -> Oracle Database Project Items -> SQL Script.
This comes up as disconnected.
When right click on the new script choose connect, only SQL Server provider is available with no ability to choose a oracle provider (greyed out to choose a diff connection provider).

You can, but stupid rules in reminders.
After you set up a new list and hit done
Tap the info button to add date and time, repeats etc.
I don't like it.
I will use the task list attached to my calendar app instead.

Hari,
Please see SAP Note 1234690 on the SAP PartnerEdge Portal. This seems like a similar problem although the example is using the Business One SDK which uses the DI API. The DTW also uses the DI API ... so there may be a relation.
You may want to check the latest patch level for SAP Business One 2007A as the note says it is a known issue.

Since the debut of iCloud, I cannot add spouse, child etc... data to the address book. Anyone have a clue how to get it back??

Ever since iCloud went live, I cannot add any spouse, child etc... info to the address book. Anyone have an idea how to get this back. I tried to reset the template, looks like it has been removed. I also de-selected the iCloud and selected on my local Mac in the accounts area in preferences. Still no luck. My address book entries prior to iCloud still have all the data and I'm able to modifiy if desired. Any ideas??

I copied this from an extremely knowledgable iTunes for Windows user in another discussion. Maybe this will help.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit (iTunes) > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit(iTunes) > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs and playlist views from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view.
If you are a Mac user, all you have to do is start navigating through the menu items at the top of the screen to find just about everything that is mentioned here.

Cannot add multiple members of a failover cluster to a DFSR replication group

Server 2012 RTM. I have two physical servers, in two separate data centers 35 miles apart, with a GbE link over metro fibre between them. Both have a large (10TB+) local RAID storage arrays, but given the physical separation there is no physical shared storage.
The hosts need to be in a Windows failover cluster (WSFC), so that I can run high-availability VMs and SQL Availability Groups across these two hosts for HA and DR. VM and SQL app data storage is using a SOFS (scale out file server) network share on separate
servers.
I need to be able to use DFSR to replicate multi-TB user data file folders between the two local storage arrays on these two hosts for HA and DR. But when I try to add the second server to a DFSR replication group, I get the error:
The specified member is part of a failover cluster that is already a member of the replication group. You cannot add multiple members for the same cluster to a replication group.
I'm not clear why this has to be a restriction. I need to be able to replicate files somehow for HA & DR of the 10TB+ of file storage. I can't use a clustered file server for file storage, as I don't have any shared storage on these two servers. Likewise
I can't run a HA single DFSR target for the same reason (no shared storage) - and in any case, this doesn't solve the problem of replicating files between the two hosts for HA & DR. DFSR is the solution for replicating files storage across servers with
non-shared storage.
Why would there be a restriction against using DFSR between multiple hosts in a cluster, so long as you are not trying to replicate folders in a shared storage target accessible to both hosts (which would obviously be a problem)? So long as you are not replicating
folders in c:\ClusterStorage, there should be no conflict.
Is there a workaround or alternative solution?

Yes, I read that series. But it doesn't address the issue. The article is about making a DFSR target highly available. That won't help me here.
I need to be able to use DFSR to replicate files between two different servers, with those servers being in a WSFC for the purpose of providing other clustered services (Hyper-V, SQL availability groups, etc.). DFSR should not interfere with this, but it
is being blocked between nodes in the same WSFC for a reason that is not clear to me.
This is a valid use case and I can't see an alternative solution in the case where you only have two physical servers. Windows needs to be able to provide HA, DR, and replication of everything - VMs, SQL, and file folders. But it seems that this artificial
barrier is causing us to need to choose either clustered services or DFSR between nodes. But I can't see any rationale to block DFSR between cluster nodes - especially those without shared storage.
Perhaps this blanket block should be changed to a more selective block at the DFSR folder level, not the node level.

Cannot Add Funds PayPal Credit Card

Sony. Is a absolute joke. This issue has been going on for FOUR YEARS for some users. And now. Last month. I brought like 3 games. Then. All of a sudden. Cannot add funds using PayPal. Says credit card invalid. Ah. Yeah right. i have used paypal all this year. But now mysteriously. It doesnt work. I spent the past month a good $1,000 on ebay. With paypal. But now magically sony doesnt take my paypal. So i use credit card. Says card not valid. This is through the webisite on computer. I go to PS4. I try it. Says address not valid or something. Seriously. So for what. Its June. So for six months. I have used PayPal no problem. Now magically sony decides to say not valid. My credit card doesnt expire until 2016. Thats what. 2016. My address is correct. Some users say sony changed things. So you have to put your address exactly like your statement. Dont know if this is true or not But why has it worked for six months. Not now. I love playstation. I have all systems. But I love playstation the best. But guess what. I ended up going onto my xbox one. And buying, pre ordering $500 worth of games. Guess what. My paypal worked straight away. Ironic dont you think. Me and other gamers options is to only buy PSN cards. But ironically. You can only have $150 in your wallet at once. Why. Thats just dumb. Considering games are $100. I was all cashed up this month. As I got some money from my grandfather who past. I was ready to put $1,000 in my wallet. But guess what. Limit to $150. So obviously sony doesnt want our money. But makeing us jump through hoops. This is without a doubt the most unproffesional. Annoying. Frustrating thing ever. And it keeps saying. Address not valid for paypal. You serious. I spent $1,000 on ebay. But now you say my address is wrong. So I guess all these parcels I have been getting from ebay, is wrong address, even though I am getting every single parcel. You know what sony. I am done with you. I dont care if the main reason I turned to sony is the xbox one keeps crashing to dashboard. I dont care if ps4, has better grahpics, controller. you know what. I got mine fixed. I emailed support. Took forever many emails, and eventually they fixed it. Basically they said. Some security thing, they stop funds. So they didnt say outright. But basically from what they said is. They have a limit each day on what you can spend in store. Already the PSN wallet has a limit of $150. Thats all you can add. When my account stopped working. I spend like around $300. As I brought 3 games. But one of those games was say $160, as it was like a special edition thing, so I assume if you either spend over the $150, or max $300. It stops. Which is just wrong. So say for example. Three new releases where out today. And we all wanted to buy them. But we cannot. What is it. per day. or do I have to buy one game, wait afew hours, then buy another. The support person didnt say any amount, or what exactly it was, but from just what they where saying, it sounds like they have a limit on what you can spend each day, but they werent allowed to say. I also have a xbox one and Wii U. And its so much easier buy games on Wii U and xbox one systems. Not to mention the headache with the new hard drive update with the Nyko Data Bank on PS4, i updated, and cannot use rest mode, and cannot play disc games, thanks sony, i upraded to a 4TB hard drive, but now i cannot play discs, or rest mode. Why cant you be just like Wii U and Xbox ONe and use external hard drives. Xbox one lets you use upto 16TB, SO yeah. I eventually got it fixed. I was going to buy all my multi platform games on ps4, and only exclusives on xbox one, but you know what, from now on, I am buying all my multi platform games on xbox one, and Only buying exclusives on ps4, Dont get me wrong. I am not a fanboy. And there are things I dont like about xbox one, or wii u. You cannot use a USB headset on them, but you can with PS4, as I use the Kraken USB headset on ps4, But apart from that. Xbox One controller is better, the ps4 is to noisy, and other above reasons, And not only that. I am in Australia. And out internet, i can download on xbox one, 3GB a hour, which is around the same speed i get on PC Steam, on ps4, i am lucky to downoad 1GB a hour.

Take the following steps:
1) while connected to wifi, toggle off then back on the Show All Music and iTunes Match options shown in my original post. Important: I did this step before, but wasn't connected to wifi, and my music disappeared. Subsequently, I connected to wifi and turned off and then back on those options and everything came back though it was grayed out and my only option was to download music.
2) To get streaming over cellular back, go into Settings>General>Cellular and scroll down to the "Use Cellular Data for:" options and make sure the iTunes option is set to 'On'
The above steps will bring back the streaming capability which seemed to go away when you update to 6.1. It didn't ACTUALLY go away, but something about the update toggled off the iTunes option in step 2 above.
I did a final test by turning off wifi, opening Music app and selecting a song. It played successfully without downloading! Crossing my fingers, but I think I'm good to go!

Hi guys, I'm having a problem with my device. It seems like I cannot add a personal email adress in my email setup (from the setup wizard) When I enter this setup wizard > email setup the following appears: email setup select an email setup option [ ] I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server AND THATS THE ONLY OPTION I CAN PICK! (a friend of mine with the same device could add a personal email) from there I can only choose { close } or { next } what is happening, can someone explain what I can do to add my personal adress? ------------------ Another thing I find quite strange is the fact that on my desktop the icon "unopened message count" appears. When I open the BB-menu, there should be a little star in the message-icon right? Well it isn't there! (the litte white-on-red star) So this icon tells me that I have unopened messages, but I can't find them anywhere.. guys please help!!!

Your first problem is carrier related -- you must have the proper data plan from your carrier (at whatever costs they charge) to enable enhanced BB functions like email. A generic data plan is not usually sufficient -- some call the required plan The BlackBerry Data Plan. But call your carrier and ask them what you need from them in order to have access to their BlackBerry Internet Services (which include personal email).
Your second problem I am not understanding. What "BB-menu" are you accessing? Where exactly is the star you are seeing? Where exactly is the star you are expecting to see? More and clearer details, please.
