Cannot add or delete songs from iPhone Music

As a precursor, I have owned my iPhone for over 3 years and this is the first encounter with this issue:
Since purchasing iTunes Match, I can no longer manage my music on my iPhone. I can neither add nor delete songs from the phone. I have over 52G's of music on iTunes and upon synching my phone, itunes indescriminately adds the songs... random songs from random albums. I've tried to delete the music from my phone, but that option is not permitted (the delete button is grey and not an option).
How can I add (from my iTunes library) and delete music from my iPhone 4? My synching preferences are checked as Manual for music transfer to my phone, yet I have absolutely no control of adding or deleting music content?
What am I doing wrong?

When you enable iTunes Match on your phone you can no longer manage your music using iTunes, you have to download it from iCloud. With iTunes Match, when you play a song it simultaneously downloads in the background. You can also download complete albums by going to the album and tapping on the cloud download icon. Unfortunately, at the present time, the only way to delete music once downloaded is to delete all music by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swiping All Music and tapping Delete. Hopefully they will restore the option to deleted individual songs again in a future update.

Some things to check:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings

Why can I delete songs from iPhone if they return when synced??

Why is there an option to delete songs from iPhone if it dosn't really delete them?? When you delete songs from the iPhone it will put them right back in as soon as you press sync. The only way around it is to manage you music manually witch is allot harder and now when you delete from iPhone it won't sync them back in but you now don't know what you removed. So you won't be able to put them back in unless you put back to auto and put all songs back in. What should happen is when you sync with pc the songs you removed from iPhone should automatically be unmarked so they are not synced back in and you know what you have deleted. Why is this so hard for apple to do!!!!!?????

how can i delete songs from iPhone when they are grayed out. It doesnt let me delete from itunes either and its just taking up space on my iphone and i cant even listen to the song that are grayed out

I did this with about 100 songs, and the problem is everytime I connect my iphone with itunes, It will automatically sync back every single song I did delete on the phone by swiping.
I did search on google and found out that serveral people has this problem. The songs wont delete from itunes library.
So why do they even make this function if it only deletes the songs for a short time?

Go to the Music app and scroll to the song you want to delete. Swipe your finger to the left over the song and a little delete button should appear.

I can't delete songs from iphone

For some reason I can't fathom I can't delete music from my iPhone in iTunes. I manually manage my songs and usually I hit the delete button and the album/songs will be removed from my phone. All that happens now when I do this is when I hit the delete button it scrolls to the last album on my phone.
Also when I try this in iTunes the same thing happens, I can only delete songs/albums from my iTunes library by right clicking and selecting delete (an option I don't have when trying to delete songs from my iPhone)
Can anybody help? I am running iTunes 10.4 on OS Lion on a Macbook Pro, with iPhone 4. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and retoring my phone from a previous back up. Didn't work.

how can i delete songs from i tunes library from my iphone 3gs?
i have followed all directions and the songs are still on there. very aggravating.

The handling of music on the iPhone is done through iTunes. If you have it set to sync all music and are not manually managing music, then it would continue to sync the song back unless you delete it from iTunes. The only other option is to set it to sync checked songs and remove the checks from the ones you don't want, if you don't want to delete them from iTunes. If you are manually managing music, once the iPhone is connected in iTunes, drag the song off the list.

How do I delete song from my phone if I manually manange the music sync? I still haven't found and answer. Match is off, after jamming my ITunes with way too many songs I don't listen to anymore. Connect the iPhone to your computer with the USB cable. Select the iPhone in the Devices list and choose the Summary pane. Under Options just check Sync only checked songs and videos. Click Apply.
Select the Music pane and choose Sync Music. Then choose Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres. Lastly choose the music that you want to have on the iPhone from the music available in those four sections; playlists, artists, albums and genres. Click Apply.

Itunes Match Makes Deleting Songs from iPhone impossible

I'm so frustrated by iTunes Match, and would love to know if anyone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
The issue I'm having is that I can't delete songs which have been downloaded onto my phone from my phone with my phone. Whether the itunes Match service is disabled, or enabled and the "show all music" option is disabled, the music app does not respond to swiping to delete albums, artists or songs. I've tried every configuration of settings I can think of.
Does anyone have a way to fix this? I've done many hard reboots and come up with nothing. I can of course delete by using my home computer, but I'm paying for a service that should allow me to download from the cloud and delete what I've downloaded while away from my desktop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.

Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone. Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:

Im Using an iPhone4 with ios5.
In iOS5 we have option to delete a song directly from iPhone.
Well thats a good option.
BUT THE PROBLEM is when we sync it with itunes all those deleted songs again get transfered to the device..
HOW to solve this?
In Short, When i delete a song from my iphone...& later when i connect it to my itunes in mac..i dont want those deleted songs to be transfered to the device.
it should be removed from both itunes & iphone.
ANY HELP?

Thankyou for ur answer..but mate its not wrking...its already cheked...juz now i deleted four songs from iphone...then plugged it to my macbookpro and when i press the sync button..all 4 deleted songs again got transfered to my device....if i select those songs frm itunes and deleted them..it will be deleted..but nt from iphone directly....its hard to go thru the complete itunes list :S

From searching, one solution said to press the icloud option to download and then delete, but the songs left on my phone after turning the "show all music" tab off, do not show the icon. I cannot swipe and delete. Not sure what to do.

Connect it to a computer and open iTunes. You can delete it there.
Try swiping to the right in the song name in Music on the phone. If it won't work, restart your phone. Hold down the power button for a while and turn it off, then turn it on again. If that fails, reset the phone.

Having trouble moving songs from iPhone Music section to a playlist in 10.6.1

I'm able to import songs from my computer to my iTunes just fine. However, it seems that with version 10.6 of iTunes I can't drag a song from my iTunes Music section on my iPhone 4S to a playlist. The song will highlight in the Music section but drag & drop are not working. I don't recall having this problem in version 10.5 of iTunes. Anybody else have this issue? Is there a fix or do I have to wait for version 10.7? Thanks for the assistance.

Thank you for that. It all looks like it should work except for step 12:
From the Advanced menu, choose Consolidate Library. A message appears that says: "Consolidating your library will copy all of your music into the iTunes Music folder. This cannot be undone."
There is no button that says consolidate library. Not even on the example picture they have.

Can't delete songs from iphone

I have a lot of old songs and i tried to delete them on my iphone. So i chose "sync only ticked songs and videos" and i unticked about 150 songs. Sync my phone and the songs that i unticked didnt delete from my phone. I tried like 10 times still doesnt work.

This is a drastic measure but it worked for me. I had hundreds of songs on my iPhone that did not appear in iTunes.
I tried; un-check and sync, downloading again from cloud etc... Each time I was able to delete songs directly from my iPhone but in this nightmare they returned like ear shattering Bieber Zombies ( ....shutters....). I decided I just wanted every song truly deleted, and start from scratch.
My 16 year old iPhone Princess grabs the phone and simply performs:
Settings -> General -> Usage -> Show All Apps -> Music -> Edit -> All Music -> Red Circle -> Delete
Result: "No Content" in Music App, die Bieber die!
It worked for me.

How do I delete songs or artists from my ipod app on my iPhone? I have a real ipod that I like to use so I want to keep the songs on there, but don't need so many songs on my iphone, so I'd like to take them off to free up memory space on my phone. It's an iPhone 4

When synching your iPhone using iTunes, click on the iPhone's icon on the left side of the iTunes display. Then click on the "Music" tab on the top right, and uncheck the Sync box.
That will do it! (... once you click "Apply" in the lower right).
