Cannot add or edit Mail account in Settings

Hi all,
I have been using my iPhone 3G for 3 years until I recently switched to iPhone 4. However after I backup and restored my iPhone 3G to iPhone 4, everytime I switch on my iPhone 4, a message pops up and says 'Cannot Access [email protected] Review your account information in Settings.' When I go to the settings, I cannot edit, add or delete any of my email accounts. The thing is I can still check and send emails from Mail but the google calendar cannot be synced. I checked my iPhone 3G it has the same problem except without the popup message and google calendar can be synced. Weird. What should I do?

I figured this out.   The problem was that the primary key on the database table was removed after the table was previously imported during the external database data source setup.   I don't recall why I removed that PK, but apparently
I did!
Steps to resolve the issue:
1.  Delete all screens referencing the entity.
2.  Use Update Data Source and uncheck the offending table.
3.  Rebuild
4.  Add Primary Key in database the table.
5.  Use Update Data source to bring the table in fresh.
6.  Create and use screens....they now work with full add/edit capability!

I have spoken to Cox, tried setting up IMAP or POP account, always the same results, Unable to Verify.  Is there a problem with the App?

    Hostname: pop.east.cox.net, (also tried pop.cox.net,  IMAP.cox.net)
    Port: 110  (also tried 993, 995)

    I also entered the exact same settings I use on the Iphone to receive mail.

    I just read your post after having a similiar issue and trying to make sense of why the settings provided weren't working on either the IMAP or POP email servers.
    Here are the settings that worked for me:
    Email: Username only (Don't use the entire email address)
    Description: Your choice
    Password: Email password
    Hostname: pop.central.cox.net (you might try west or east depending on your location in place of central)
    Port: 110
    SSL off

  • Cannot add a new email account, and hence icloud account. When i go into Settings - Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud Settings ghosted (unclickable). Cannot change in itunes also.

    Cannot add a new email account, and hence i have no way of creating an iCloud account (very frustrating). I had the same problem with iOS 4.3 but i had no email account to create as i set both up when i bought the iPhone 4. After adding a company email and a gmail account (both wok perfectly) i noticed that the option to create more email accounts had been ghosted (unclickable). This didn't worry me at the time. However, iCloud needs me to create one in here so i can access the cloud which i desperately want the ability to do. When i go into Settings -> Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud in the iPhone Settings ghosted (unclickable). I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

    Go to
    Settings,
    General,
    Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
    Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
    Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.

    Why would you delete your iCloud account for a password change with your Yahoo account?
    Regardless, if no problem re-creating your iCloud account on your iPad, contact Yahoo technical support.

  • Error 553 - Add or Edit an Account Page inaccessib...

    This has been going on since last week when I added my problem onto the end of someone else's message, but I'm getting desperate about my problem with email now.
    It started off with the old chestnut - Error 553 when I tried to send emails from alternate (to BT) email addresses, so I found online instructions on how to verify those addresses and off I went to Yahoo to carry them out. Getting in was no problem, I know my password, and I could open everything except "add or edit an account". When I clicked on the link, it just came up with either a blank page or a message telling me that the page couldn't be displayed and a DNS error.
    I've been trying ever since. I have the correct security settings enabled, I've tried switching my hub off and back on (to provide a different IP address), I've loaded my Yahoo account through various browsers; IE, Firefox, Yahoo and Google Chrome and I spoke to customer services who took control over my machine for about 2 hours but couldn't fix the problem. All my temporary internet files and cookies have been cleared down loads of times and I've installed and run CCleaner and now I'm just stumped about what else to try.
    I still can't send emails out of my non-BT addresses, has anyone got any ideas please?

    The above settings are fine, and should work as long as the email address is verified (which is the cause of your problem). Even though it did work until last week, that was probably more by luck. I've mentioned before that sometimes various users needed to verify the different email address set in the "E-mail address" field of the "General" tab in OE compared to their BTinternet address - and some other people not. Then for some reason the system catches up the the "not" people.
    Your problem is that access to the "Add or edit account" option which needs sorting out.

    This is Md. Ashikur Rahman purchased a BB curve , model-8520 from India. Now I am in bangladesh & my service provider is Grameenphone. In the e-mail setup wizard I can see only one option which requires BB enterprise password to complete the set up. I think the other option- 'Add existing e-mail account' is locked.
    My service provider is unable to unlock. How can I use that option so I can complete my e-mail set up & comunicate over internet?

    Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    Your service provider is exactly that...the provider of all of your services. If they cannot delivery PUSH email to you (or, for that matter, any other BIS-level services), then there's nothing anyone else can do.

    Fixed it... was a Restrcition setting that I obviously turned on after I had set the other two accounts up... Doh

    Is this Outlook account being integrated using the Outlook Web Acccess (OWA) protocol?
    Have a look at KB02858 for issue integrating an OWA account
    Also, you may need to have your IT Admin take a look at some Firewall settings to allow connection to the BlackBerry Internet Service infrastructure.
    KB11036 give the firewall connection requirements needed.

    If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

    You should not need to enter anything. the iCloud service is one of the  preconfigured options.
    Just choose the iCloud type from the Add new Mail screen, and enter your details in the next screen.
    If you don't have the iCloud option, but instead have the mobileMe option then you will need to update your iOS.

    I can receive and send messages, but I want to delete e-mail account and add a new one, but it will not let me in settings. It will not let me select the account or add an account.

    Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo.
    Barring any success after a reset, then I suggest that you delete and add the email accounts that you want in the mail app that you use on your computer and then sync those email accounts to your iPad. After attaching your iPad to the computer, in iTunes on the Info tab go to the bottom and in the advanced section check the box to replace the email accounts on the iPad with those on the computer.

    You are not showing only the Account Settings window, it is cut off at the bottom. For example there is no OK or Cancel button. Perhaps this is what you are seeing as well which explains why you cannot see Account Actions.
    Try this:
    Open Account Settings window and then minimize Thunderbird, so you can only see the Account Settings window
    OR drag the Account Settings window to the side or above.
