Cannot add printers to wifi network; all worked fine two weeks ago...

I have two Canon printers (MG5420/MP620B) which will not work with my macbook pro, home wifi network.  These worked on Yosemite, until the week when the last OS and Canon driver updates were pushed out.
I have deleted the printers, followed other's advice on removing printer associated Library items, reinstalled all drivers and printer software, connect to laptop via USB to re-setup, powered off the printer, pulled the usb, powered on the printer, and so on.
The result is that in the Add printer window, nothing happens.  No printer shows up, even if the previous dialogue boxes indicate success.  Then after closing out the ADD printer (default/IP/etc) and I restart the laptop, the laptop screen changes to black with just the arrow cursor remaining...and there it hangs until I do a "hold power button" until it forces quit.
I have NEVER been so disappointed with apple.  I am having flashbacks to installing items on my old windows machines, when every new things prompted a slew of fixes.

The problem has "magically" corrected itself.  Perhaps it was the three consecutive Canon ink jet updates pushed out in the past five days...

    it h just started in the last few weeks. it is not my firewall on my router as i have disabled it

    some wifi networks have security settings that wouldn't allow secure data to be transferred through the network. so it would depend on where your wifi is at. if it's your home internet that you control the security settings. you can change those settings to allow secure data. if it's a workplace or school, you might need to ask the network administrator to allow your device access to those privileges on the network.

    Additional information: 
    -also ran "Repair" with new download of iTunes
    -am using the same spindle of CDs that worked perfectly a month ago.  Tried another brand also to be safe.  None worked.
    -ran CD/DVD diagnostics within iTunes with Apple Care - no issues apparent
    -also tried write-speed 20X on advice of Apple Care (don't know why they thought 20X would be the magic number after the other 3 I tried didn't work)
    -tried running itunes in another user account on the computer - same problem, same error code
    -Apple suggested it was a copyright issue.  I can't even burn music that I created/recorded myself, so that doesn't make sense.
    -They thought maybe Quicktime wasn't installed properly, so we checked a film in Windows Media - it played, meaning Quicktime was fine apparently. 
    Solution:
    Unclicked CD text option & Sound Check, ran burn from the File drop down menu (max speed) on a Philips CD-R and it worked!  Had been right clicking the playlist name and selecting Burn option from there.  That being said, it did not work on 2 other brands prior, with same settings.  Not sure why.  Just happy it's working again. Is it a brand issue?

  • My iPad won't load web pages, even though it was working fine two days ago.

    Up until 2 days ago I had no problems with my iPad 3.
    However now it will not load any web pages at all (Using Safari). In order to get it to load web pages I either
    have to reboot or turn it off and then on again. It then connects but only ever to one page at a time.
    I don't understand what the issue is since it was fine before. It is not my Wifi network as it works fine on
    other laptops.

    Try this:
    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • No playback in PP CS5.0.3, worked fine several weeks ago...

    I am unable to get a timeline to playback in PP CS5.0.3 with either existing or new projects (Win 7) on any source video, whether out of my Canon 5D2, Sony CX550, or simple AVI. The last time I used PP was several weeks ago and it was working fine then.
    Everything seems to be working fine except playback. Spacebar will toggle to the play button on the video monitor window but nothing else happens, same if clicking the play button. It will render a timeline when pressing enter but the playback afterwards doesn't happen. The video monitor displays the video as expected when dragging the cursor bar on the timeline.
    I tried the sledge hammer approach of deactivating, uninstalling, reinstalling, re-updating and get the same results. I also tried CS5.0.0 before updating and got the same results.
    No viruses and very little other software on my studio box, and no new software other than Windows updates and NVidia driver since the last time PP was working.
    Anyone have any ideas??

    Just been thru something very similar in CS5.5 (fully updated). Windows 7
    The transport controls were showing that the video should have been playing but the monitors were not displaying running footage.
    This was also affecting Windows Media Player as well as Audition.  Quicktime was o.k but flaky.
    After some trial and error  and a lot of messing around with drivers and uninstalling stuff...I believe I narrowed it down to my audio card ( M-Audio Delta).
    Disabling it  (today) seems to be working and I am now using audio from the HD Audio (onboard card).
    Fingers crossed at the moment.

  • Compressor will not import any file. Anybody have an idea?  It was working fine 2 weeks ago.

    Compressor will not let me import any type of file.  I can not export a sequence from Final Cut through Compressor either.  Anyone else have this problem or have a soulution.  It was working 2 weeks ago. 

    .. but my history window does not fuction.
    It makes sense that past history is gone as it is blown out as part of the compressor repair process.
    Or, do you mean Compressor does not keep track of current projects added to the que (aka history)?

  • The "Clear Recent History" setting under "Tools" suddenly stopped working about two weeks ago and is still not working with version 8.0. I am running Mac OX 10.6.8 on a desktop

    Until a couple of weeks ago I could clear my history under the "Tools" setting.
    Now the only way I am able to clear history is to open the history, select all, and then delete---all manually.

    I did restart in Safe Mode; however, I DID make change in the Safe Mode restart window, resetting to defaults.
    Not only did this not help, but now it is worse, as my history won't show up when I click "Show All History" so I am unable to clear history even manually.
    Did I misunderstand your suggestion? I've been using Firefox with various versions of OX 10 for years w/o such a problem, and now have so many bookmarks on Firefox that I hate to abandon the browser.
    However, I do not wish to have a permanent, unclearable history.

  • When I plug in my iPod and it syncs it says that a bunch of my apps cannot be loaded because my iPod does not have the latest software to support them, but I have done all of the iPod software updates and the same apps were working fine just weeks ago...?

    I plug in my iPod to charge from my computer and it syncs with my iTunes, but I've been getting a message that a list of 13 of my apps cannot be loaded onto my iPod because it doesn't have the latest software to support them. I have done all the software updates for my iPod and iTunes says it is completed up-to-date. Do I need to delete the apps and redownload them or what?

    ok well like lllaass said, most apps require 4.3 or later iOS software. chances are since the apps worked before, the apps themselves got updated and will no longer work with your software version.

  • Firefox keeps telling me to upgrade. Even after complete uninstall and installing the newest version. Also, each time I restart my desktop I have to acknowledge about 12 add-ons. After that all works fine. Even when I restart Firefox.

    I already tried uninstalling all add ons and then reinstall them again. Can the problem be related to the Siphon add on (which I no longer use)?

    You posted your troubleshooting information in another thread ([[/questions/907656]]) that seems to indicate that you use or have used that profile folder with a lot of Firefox versions and are overriding the compatibility check (extensions.checkCompatibility.12.0).
    You need to use a separate profile for each Firefox version if you want to use multiple Firefox versions.

  • "Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 has stopped working" but was working fine a week ago...

    On my desktop (Dell XPS 8300), I keep getting the error message "Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 has stopped working" when openng up a previously created project or trying to create a new one in Premiere Pro CS6.
    On my laptop (MS Surface Pro 2), I can load projects and edit them, but I cannot export media.  When I try, it just sits there and does nothing.  I've also tried sending it to Media Encoder, but that doesn't help either.  Sometimes, it crashes too.
    I'm running Windows 8.1 on both with the latest updates installed.
    Oddly, this started roughly around the same time on both computers.
    I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, but that didn't help.
    I've run the Windows troubleshooter and that didn't help either.
    I've tried running as an administrator, and running the program in compatibility mode for Windows 8, 7 and Vista - that doesn't solve the issue either.
    At this point, I can't do any work and am even considering paying for CC even though I just dropped $700 on CS6 last year, but I'm wondering if that would even solve the issue, or if the CC version would also not work...

  • I download iTunes and it says it did not download correctly. It was working fine two days ago. I am on Windows 7.

    For some reason, starting yesterday, I tried to open iTunes and it said that it had stopped working and that I needed to uninstall then reinstall it. I did that and each time I have reinstalled it, it says that it was installed incorrectly and to please reinstall.

    Under Tether Start Session is available however nothing happens when I click "Start Session" The HUD doesn't launch nothing happens. Start Session is still available, but Nothing.

    I had the same problem with my Rebel XT but I figured out why it wasn't working. You just need to select or create a new project (highlight it) then choose "start session". It SHOULD work because that's what I did. Hope this works for you!
