Cannot add video

Hi, just got my ipod but when I import music videos they automatically go to the "movies" section. I cannot therefore see the name of the artist/select artist when watching on Ipod. How can I get videos into the music video section ?
I have tried just dragging files into secton but they go straight into "Movies".
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Simon

I'm having this same problem, except the option to "create iphone/ipod version" is greyed out and I can't select it. I tried to sync it after I noted that, but the same "cannot copy video" message came up.

  • Video will no longer play, cannot add video content either.

Since this afternoon, iTunes video will no longer play. Not movies, not TV shows. I checked and music and podcasts still play. I thought it might be a conflict between purchased video vs video I added from my DVDs, but no such luck. Purchased content will not play. Nor can I add any new video, whereas I added a new TV show episode this morning.
If I go into the iTunes LIbrary file and select a video and choose "Play with Quicktime" the video plays just fine. But if I select "Play with iTunes" nothing happens. At all. Not even an error code. It's like I didn't select anything. If I try to add content by the keystroke "command O" and choose the file … again, nothing. No error. Just no response at all. When I open that file on my computer, select "Play with Quicktime", then choose "Share with iTunes" inside Quicktime I do finally get an error. "This file cannot be shared (error 206)". I looked up this error code and found this: "The filename or extension is too long." This does not make sense. The file names are fine and the extensions are exactly what I always use to add content to iTunes.
So it's like the entire video portion of iTunes has ceased to function. Any clues?

There are a g-zillion posts sharing your problem... but still no answer from Apple. The odd thing is that it is not affecting all of us.
I share your problem and it's doing my head in... if somebody mentions the 5 bloody R's again...!!!

  • Cannot add videos to itunes.

Hey, I have a 60G video ipod and my itunes wont let me add ANY videos. this began about 2 weeks ago.. and i re downloaded it etc etc.. updated.. and it still wont let me???
    HELP!!

I have the same problem in my 60GB video IPOD.
In Itunes, If I click on EDIT - PREFERENCE - IPOD - VIDEO, all the buttons are grey and blank or not active.
This does not allow me to change anything and therefore i cannot copy any videos to my IPOD.
Please advise on how the Video section can be activated as this is the main reason why we cannot transfer.
Will someone from Apple help or someone advise a remedy on how we can transfer video to the IPOD.

  • Cannot add video to itunes

    Hi,
i have recently bought a laptop that has windows vista home on it. I have installed Itunes and when i try to add a video it doesn't add it and freezes. Sometimes the .mp4 file wont even play it in quicktime.
    Any Ideas?
    thanks

I use Videora Ipod Video Converter and it is very helpful... First of all, I convert my videos with this software to the old format mpg4 and then I manually add it to the library. it works for me... i don't know how it would help you...

  • Cannot add videos to my iPod "Classic"

Hi, I just converted a video from a DVD with Handbrake 0.9.5 and couldn't then add it to my iPod. I did a search in spotlight for the file and it came up as a "protected MPEG-4 movie". Now I've followed this proceedure many times over and never had this problem before what has happened to make this occur. Is it Handbrake or QT 10 as igirl1 wrote: discussions.apple.com/thread/2633767?start=0&tstart=0. This file plays just fine in iTunes and sending it to the iPod the green plus sign comes up but nothing happens. Please can anybody help?

Sorry didn't realize the forum was incorrect as the path above reads:

  • I cannot add videos to my iTunes.

I have tried adding a file, and that doesn't work: iTunes doesn't accept it. when I click on "movies," it does not open an option for downloading videos. Help!

Hi - I have the same problem! iPod Classic 120GB - but the issue's with iTunes. I also have the updated version, 10.6.1, before anyone asks! I've restarted my computer, not ran big programs at the same time, everything - it's just not working! I add MP4 movies to the library, and nothing shows up. *sad face*

  • Cannot add video - "Error 2002: a bad public atom was found in the movie"

Okay, I've searched around and cannot find anything that works, this is driving me crazy! I converted a file from .avi to .mp4 and am now trying to add it to iTunes so that I can put it on my iPod Touch. When I try to add the file, whether by dragging and dropping the file into itunes or going through the File menu, nothing happens - no error messages, no notifications, nothing. If I try to open the file in Quicktime I get the "Error 2002: a bad public atom was found in the movie" message.
I've tried editing the tags with Tagger, tried the AoA MP4 patch, tried moving the file to a flash drive and adding from there, tried running iTunes in XP compatibility mode... all with no effect. Please, is there anyone that knows how to fix this?

    Hello,
This doesn't really solve the problem, but why don't you ask your colleague to resave or export test.3gp?
The new file will probably work. (vs troubleshooting your Windows PC can take ages, to no avail)

  • Cannot add videos to Ipod

Hey, I've searched this forum and tried all the programs that have been listed; Videora, PSPware.. ect.
I've tried Quicktime Pro to convert the files, but it takes such an unreal ammount of time I haven't been able to let it finish to try them.
No matter what I convert the files into, it will NOT let me drop them into my Ipod... it just shows an X when I try to drag and drop. Can someone PLEASE help with this, as the video's is the only reason I went with the Ipod over competitors :/

OK, I let Quicktime run overnight and made a video into Ipod format and it still will not load onto my Ipod... Does it sound like I just got a lemon? I'm going to see if I can return it for another one and see if a new one will work.
If you believe the problem is in the iPod and there is an Apple Store in your area, it would be a good idea to contact them and make an appointment as soon as possible. If there is no store in your area, download an iPod compatible file from the Internet and test whether or not it will load/sync. I have 3-4 test clips in the Public Folder of my HomePage (jrwalker4) account if you can't find any elsewhere.
As to inability to convert your own movies, are you using the iPod specific preset or trying to use the MPEG4 QT Pro interface? If the latter, what settings did you use?

  • HT1296 I cannot add video files to library? why guide

I have surgical videos in my laptop but i could not sync to iTunes Library? Please help

    Hello NafNaf55,
I would recommend creating a new iTunes library and testing to see if it works there.
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1589
If so, then run iTunes in Safe mode to test for 3rd party plugins:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
If not, then I would recommend re installing iTunes altogether:

  • Cannot change settings to add videos

when I click on the ipod button at the bottom of itunes, the options come up, but when I go to the video tab, it is greyed out and I cannot add videos to my ipod - please help as I need to know how.....

Is your music set to "Manual" update". This is why it is grayed out. Drag and drop the videos to the IPOD icon or into a Video Playlist.

  • Is it possible to change multicam angle property? Or add video to what is seen as a audio angle?

I'm getting footage from overseas and first I was sent just the audio files, so I assumed i could just put the audio files into a multicam clip angle and started keywording and favoriting the new clip, which i did.  Now I've received the video files.  as per normal, I added an angle from the triangle drop-down menu, and tried adding the video but it won't let me.  Using an "insert edit" I get a message "You are combining audio and video clips in an audio-only angle. You cannot add video clips to existing audio-only angles."
The issue seems to be that if the first angle you create only gets audio files added to it, and you then use that angle to add another angle from the triangle drop-down, it forces that new angle to be audio only, and it won't accept video. I've confirmed this with separate tests.
I could start the multicam clip from scratch and add a video clip first, but trying not to lose all the keywording work (which was a lot).  There doesn't seem to be any way to change angle properties or to add a new angle that isn't audio-only by default.
    any suggestions much appreciated

Just click on the little triangle in the Angle Editor and choose "Add Angle". Now drag your video clip into the new angle.
Synchronization, though, is another matter. All in all, you'll probably be better served by creating a new mulicam clip, by way of which you'll get everything properly synched.

  • Cannot add items to sequence

    Hello,
Not sure what happened, but it was working before, but all of sudden I cannot add items to sequence. I cannot add video, I cannot add effects to the clips, which are already in a sequence. I cannot move the clips in sequence. I am completely buffeled here. Is there a setting that I pressed by accident?
    Any suggestions?
    I am using Win7 Professional 64bit.

Tried creating new sequence in the project and tried creating new project all together. In both cases the behavior was the same. I also opened a different project and could not do anything in the sequence. Re-installing premiere did not help.
