Cannot adjust adjustment layer

I am attempting to do a little color correction to an RGB image using an adjustment layer and the Photo Filter.
I select Layer > New Adjustment Layer... > Photo Filter and a new adjustment layer appears in the Layers Palette. I should also get the Photo Filter dialog so I can do the adjustment. But, the Photo Filter dialog never appears, and it's not selectable from the Image > Adjustments menu. There's nothing I can do with the adjustment layer.
Anyone else ever have this problem? It's a new one to me. Suggestions on correcting this are welcome.

What happens if you double click on the Photo Filter icon in the layers panel?
If you go to Window>Adjustments, does it show there?
Do other adjustment layers work?
What is the color mode and bit depth of your document?
(Image>Mode)

Advice when using lots of Adjustment Layers/Layer Masks

I want to create an image that will be composed of lots of layer masks that I am going to use to paint different effects back over someone's face. I currently have a hue/saturation adjustment layer that I used to desaturate the image and then I selectively painted that desaturated layer back over the skin of someone, I also want to add some green so I created a color balance layer and made a layer mask out of it and want to selectively paint back some green to the skin tone.
1. Does it matter in the layer stacking order where these adjustment layers/layer masks reside?
2. Any general tips for working with an image with lots of adjustment layers/layer masks?

Depending upon the blend mode, it does matter what order you put the layers, as the topmost layer will affect what's below it. You can play around with the different postions and see what works best for your image. You can also group the layers, and set the blend mode of the group to anything other than "Pass Through", so that the adjustment layers only affect what's in the group.

Opening RAW photo in editor - cannot add a layer or make adjustments.

Greetings - I have recently upgraded to Photoshop Elements 13. I have a Nikon and I am shooting in RAW. Recently I have found that when I open a photo in the Editor - the vast majority of actions are grayed out. I cannot add a layer - or make other adjustments to the photo. I am opening the photo - it opens in ACR - and then I click on Open button. This is where the trouble is. I have checked the photo bin and in other areas of my computer and the photo is not open in another area. Please see the screen shot of the editor with the photo - I have tried several photos opening them directly from my computer and from the organizer and I am getting the same issue. I do hope you can help -

You will be using a 16 bit image and need to change to 8 bits.
You can do that in the camera raw dialog before sending the image into the regular editor. There is a dropdown menu to the left of the Open Image button. Or you can do it inside the regular editor using the top menu:
Image >> Mode >> 8 Bits/Channel

Error grouping items - Error 9024: Cannot modify a layer that is locked

I'm trying to group all sublayers so that i can easily resize the group. But when I run this code:

I get an error saying 'Error 9024: Cannot modify a layer that is locked'. I have checked and the layer is not locked at all. Some layers resize fine, but it keeps getting stuck on one or 2 layer within each .ai file I have.
Any ideas what this might be?

Fixed this. I had not selected a layer as I was running a batch. So i changed
doc.activeLayer.groupItems.add();
to
layer.groupItems.add(); //layer is the current layer being processed.

Cannot access adjustment layer panel presets.

I’ve been using Photoshop My CS4 for about six-months—first experience with adobe photoshop. Although the cursor points to the adjustment panel preset links, the links appear grayed out and nothing happens when I click. It seems to me they were available at one time, but not now. I’m running with Vista 64-bit and 12GB memory. Any suggestions or solutions?

Try it with an RGB colour image in 8-bit mode.

Adjusting Sequence Layer Photos

With 20 images I sequence the layers. The sequence plays out for four minutes.I adjust the Composition setting, duration ; and in Animation, sequence layers, duration. I keep making adjustments and end up with at a best four minute timeline. I cannot figure out how to adjust every photo so that in sequence they fit into the audio track.
I always render so that I can import into Premiere Pro to see how the slideshow fits into the audio track. The audio track is 10 minutes. How do I increase the 20 layers of images so that the slideshow can play out for the duration of the 10 minute audio track?

I don't understand what you are saying. If you need a comp that's 10 minutes long you set that in the Composition Settings. If you want the composition to match the length of your audio track then either set the composition to the same length in the composition settings or drag the audio track into the new composition icon at the bottom of the Project Panel.
If you trim the photo layers to the length you need and set their in and out points they will match the audio.
If you don't know how to do any of this then please go through the Getting Started with AE materials provided as a link on the main page of this forum.

Finder Cover Flow image preview size is small, cannot be adjusted and showing empty blank previews in Mavericks

When using Cover Flow the image preview in the main window (not the thumbnail list at the bottom) images appear but only use about 1/2 of the window space available. It is also showing black/blank preview images as I scroll through the files even though they are cached.
I enlarge the Finder to fill my 27 inch display, slide the size adjustment handle (three lines under the file name preview) all the way down as far as I can. The preview only enlarges to a certain point leaving the upper half of the window unused. I wish to enlarge the cover flow preview images to use this window space even if it affects the overlapping or number of cover flow images avaialble in the window. I am assuming this is becasue of the nature of cover flow showing the two previous and two following images to the left and right of the previewed image. As I scroll left and right occsionally one of the upcoming images will appear as and empty preview as well. It's all goofed up.
Hoping for any suggestions.
I have seen articles about using terminal to adjust "flow height" but never anything substainial that seemend like an informed solution.

I also would like to know if there is an answer to this. My landscape photos always display with a third of the cover flow window as blank empty space (matching your screenshot). This seems like such a waste. Is there any way to change the "padding" between the top of the finder bar and the cover flow preview?

How can I escape from crop? Gets stuck on crop. Thus cannot do adjust color /remove color cast. Photoshop Elements 10 on PC.

I try everything. Shut down Photoshop Elements 10. Shut down PC. Re-boot PC. Try a different jpg. Open it with PSE 10. It still is stuck on Crop tool, and won't allow me to Adjust color.

Which operating system are you running on?
Have you tried resetting the tools?
Click on the small down triangle at the top left of the tools and select Reset all tools
Once you are in the crop tool, you are clicking on the accept tick or the cancel symbol aren't you?

How to adjust each layer so frames end at chosen position

How can I drag the key frames back within each of the layers below so that they all end on the final scene. Currently when I hit play, the clip runs till the last key frame and the other layers that don't run that length disappear. How can I best fix this?

I don't know how it works if you happen to be using the newer tweens, but to have something remain as it was when its tween ended I would normally just right click the last frame that I want occupied and choose the "Insert Frame" command. That last frame would be frame 72 for what you show/want. You would need to get rid of any blank keyframes at the end which most of your layers appear to have.
Just as an example, for the layer named "layer 2, I would right click frame 67 and choose "Clear Keyframe" to get rid of the blank keyframe. Then I would right click frame 66 and choose "Remove Tween". Then I would right click frame 72 and choose "Insert Frame" That should result in the contents of frame 66 remaining thru frame 72.

Lion Installed: Internal speakers muted and cannot be adjusted thru the audio pane.

I installed Lion yesterday and spent considerable time looking for an online solution to no avail.
The online info suggests to re-install the OS from the disk supplied with the laptop, but would be re-installing Snow Leopard... mmm
The quick fix is the plug headphones into the audio jack and wait a few seconds. The audio pane becomes active as it should. Remove the
headphones... the audio functions normally.
If you turn the laptop off... you must repeat the process until a future release of Lion.

Same problem here: I cannot control audio volume and Preference Panel said I've not an audio out device. the funny thing is that I can hear music from iTunes.

e-mail text print was suddenly miniscule--so small it cannot be read.--Even if I paste in larger print, Even if I select print size larger, Even if I use Ctrl->,
Even though I restarted the e-mail repeatedly.
How do I set the default so it stays at a normal print size??
Also, typically shows as light grey print regardless of what color I select.,

Why the text field frame's line width cannot be adjusted?

I am now working on a PDF file with some text fields with combo turned on, specifying the number of chars the fields can hold. Their frames' line width is not thick. This is what I want. This is shown in the picture below:
But when I try to preview the PDF, I discover that these fields do not follow what I have specified: no matter what thickness I choose, the frames are always thick. I want them to be thin!

By the way, I have uninstalled Acrobat 8 and installed Acrobat 9 Pro, but I am facing serious problems. Whenever I open Acrobat I will face an EULA page and if I click "Accept" or "Decline", the whole program will close immediately.
I have googled and added an EULA value (=1, in hex) in the regedit. No effect. I want to uninstall Acrobat 9, and there is NO RECORD in the Install/Uninstall section in the Control Panel. I am using Vista Home Basic.
I am now frustrated. I tried Acrobat 9 and it failed, and now I can't even uninstall it and revert to ver 8.......My God....
