Cannot Apply Colour To Imported Image

I have placed an image into my file, however, I am unable to apply any color swatch to it. I have done this in a past, but I cannot figure out why my color swatches are greyed out. See attached screenshot.
As you can see in the file below, I don't have the same issue.
I've gone through everything, and even tried different file formats. Can't figure this one out. Can any InDesign pros shed some light on this?

Ok, I'll try saving it as greyscale and no transperancy.
That was my bad, I just selected it for the screenshot, but when I was replicating the results earlier I had image selected and able to apply color.

Reflections on objects other than imported images

I just can't seem to add a reflection to any object other than an imported image (ie. text, boxes, circles all don't have the "reflection" feature enabled in the graphics page of the inspector).
Am I doing something wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong -- for whatever reason, Keynote can only apply reflections to imported images, and not native objects or text. Fortunately, there is a workaround for this, the Preview Passthru method developed by forum luminary Ken Drake. Essentially, if you copy an object or text, then open the app Preview and select "New from Clipboard" in the File menu and save the resulting image, the saved file can be imported into Keynote and will be treated just like any other imported image. Of course, it will no longer be a Keynote object, so it won't be editable in that fashion, but it can be adjusted like an image, and have a reflection applied to it.
Do note that you may have to crop the image in Preview in order to get the reflection effect that you want.

This is happening even with photos that were taken on another camera, not just mine. My daughter told me that the laptop recently fell. The yellow streak is not anywhere else on the laptop, just on the photos in LR.

I have had this problem on my desktop. I have been attempting to reproduce it where it can be debugged. Here are some observations/facts in my environment--no conclusions:
1. I do not import from camera or memory stick directly into LR. I copy all images (using Explorer) from camera to two different locations (backup location first); and then my working area. In both cases, after files are copied I mark them Read-only.
2. Poor observation, but in any event: the issue has only occurred when I do a large number of images. Its a poor observation as I have no exact number. I suspect when I do less than 50 always works well every time. However, I have also done some very large imports without issue.
3. Error only occurs with my RAW images--for me that's NEF. I have multiple cameras--those that only capture jpg images have never had an issue in LR.
4. Even if the file is marked Read Only issues can still occur. I then remove the image from the disk using LR -- and then manually (Explorer) copy in my backup image -- re import again and all is well. I think one time I exited LR and replaced the bad file with a backup and restarted LR and all was well again.
5. When it occurs I have performed a HASH value on the broken file and on the backed up file to determine if the file contents has changed--and each time the file contents has changed.
6. I have had this occur immediately after import, but most often it occurs like this... import large number of images; Make changes in Development Module on random image, export jpg of changes--exit LR. Open up LR and file is corrupted.
7. I have had this issue on multiple USB drives ( okay just 2 different drives have been tested ).
What next--fire up Process Monitor and monitor the system (specifically LR) to see if it reports any file open for write access when this occurs. So, far I have not had process monitor actually running when it occurs--one of these days.

The error message probably said "unsupported or damaged"
The T3 requires Lightroom 3.4.1 or later. You can either upgrade to a more current version of Lightroom (version 5.6 is the most recent) or you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert the RAWs to DNG, which should import into Lightroom properly.

Import XML, apply XSLT and embed images

Hi everyone. I've been looking for days now about a way to export the content of a website as XML and import it then into InDesign, involving some basic text formatting and maybe links, lists and tables. Getting a XML version of a website isn't actually the problem. But including some InDesign readable formatting structure caused me some headache.
First of all, I used InDesign from CS2 and read a lot about INX structure, XML Namespaces and Tagged Text. None of what I did seemed to result in any acceptable or properly working import. So I've read about CS3 having a new feature of applying XSL Stylesheets when importing a XML file and finally downloaded a trial version to test this out. Problem is, I can't find any helpful documentation on how to use this feature right. Neither in the web nor in your forums.
So how does a XSL file have to look like in order to import XML with some basic formatting?
Let's say the XML looks like this, very simple:

] <?xsl-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="style.xsl"?>
] <root>
] <text>
] <bold>This text is bold</bold> and <italic>this seems to be italic</italic>.

How does my XSLT code in "style.xsl" have to look like in order to tell InDesign that the content of <bold> has to be bold, the one of <italic> italic and leaving <underline> underlined?
I tried placing Tagged Tags around the content with XSL but this just resulted in errors or plain text output in InDesign. I also tried to understand the magical code structure of INX, but left it behind until I recognized how complex it is.
Until now, only Tagged Tags do what they shall do for me. Only problem is, the file with this Tagged Tags has to be TXT, but I want XML. Isn't there any way to apply a XSL file over a XML file and replace the XML tags with some Tagged Tags, and finally import everything successful into InDesign? I tried something like that and told the XSL to output the file as Text with

but InDesign replies with an error as "text" is not valid for DOM structuring.
Moreover, another problem is with importing images without having them saved on the local machine. Meaning, how to send images embed in XML files?
Here I also tried many things like <![CDATA[base64-code-here]]> and so on, but never happened to tell InDesign that it has to do something with this code instead of just displaying it. Using

or anything alike didn't work at all.
In the end, I want to allow downloading a XML version of the viewed site on my website which can be imported into InDesign with all basic formatting used on the site itself. Getting the XML file prepared is just a matter of some PHP scripting. Now I only have to know what InDesign can actually read, and of course, if InDesign is even able to do anything of what I've planned.

XSL will re-arrange incoming XML so that you can flow the XML into an InDesign document that may be arranged differently than the incoming XML file. You still need to set up tags and associate those tags with styles in order to achieve what you want. You can use Maivald's "A Designer's Guide to Adobe InDesign and XML: Harness the Power of XML to Automate your Print and Web Workflows" as a starting point, but you will need to play with the pieces to figure it out. For your simple example, you will need to set up tags in text frames for <bold> and <italic>, create paragaph (or object) styles of [bold] and [italic] and then associate those styles with the tags. Only then can you import the XML file and have things work. InDesign has no pre-defined knowledge of what any XML tag means, even when the meaning seems obvious. You are free to define your <bold> XML tag to mean italic text, for example. Though I've read through the Maivald book and converted a Spanish cookbook to English (as a gift for my mom), I am not by any means overly knowledgeable here. It could well be that there are many ways to achieve the goal and I only know one, lol. Hope this helps.

Colour wrong in imported image

Just imported a .png image to a blank slide. Published as a
stand alone file. When viewed the colour of the image was
completely wrong - blues turned into vibrant greens.
Had tried importing a .jpg but nothing happened when I hit OK

I cannot import images from EXT HD

UNtil yesterday, everything was fine. I am on a Mac. Running iOS 10.9.5 and LR version 5.5 (CR 8.5)
I have imported images from my card into Aperture and these images are stored on an external HD. I then bring the ones I wish to edot into LR
When I try to bring them inot lr, the import process seems to go as always, but upon completion, i get a message saying 'some files cannot be written'. No Error code. Basically all files are not being written. The images are in Aperture. I can see and edit them there, but I cannot bring them from there into Lightroom as I have always done. I havemnt done anything to change my set up. SOmething has happened and I dont know what it is or what to do about it.
I upgraded from LR4 online, so I no longer have a physical cd of the software.
I would be very grateful for any help anyone can give me. Thank you

I mean the directory specified in the Lightroom Import dialog box, near the top right, it says "Destination". Has that directory been accidentally changed to someplace different than it was before when things were working properly?
I can't tell you how to change permissions, as I am not a Mac person, but I think that Google thing might be able to find the answer.

It seems my Aperture updates and when i import images now. For example from an SD card, the import action goes ahead.... I choose source, create a FOlder ti import into, choose location on hard drive to store... IMPORT... and after a while importing all images and previewa appearing, I get an error message saying ¨Import Items Completed with Errors¨, 0 items have been imported into the projhect named X. Aperture failed to import x items listed below.
This is really weird as after I ckick OK i look in folder and not even the previews are there anymore...
Anyone know what is going on???? Attached error message. You see movies in error message bu they were just a few, the rest are all images.

I cannot import images from my camera directly into Elements Organizer

I am trying to import images into Elements Organizer from my Canon EOS 6D, but it doesn't work properly. I am expecting the images to appear in the Elements Organizer, but the images are only imported onto disk. At the moment I have to re-import images from the disk location as a second step. How can I perform this in one step, as I have seen this in the tutorials?
I am on a Mac using Yosemite using version 13 of Elements Organizer.

There is no "into". LR and PS just reference your photos on the hard drive.
When you import your photos "into" the LR catalog, LR can copy the images off your memory cards to the hard drive if you have not already copied them, but the photos are referenced by the LR catalog by the path and filename for the files.

In lightroom 5 I have been importing images via a card reader. Now you can see the images on the computer but when I try to import it says that it cannot read the card any ideas how to solve?

Cannot import images/movies to garage band 9

Trying to import images/movies into garage band but i keep getting the message saying that i need version 5 to do it. I have Garage Band 9.
Tried to do this on a nother mac and that worked perfectly. Is there any solutions to this?

Cannot Import Image Files

Hello, I'm having a issue that has suddenly and unexpectedly happened. After Effects will no longer allow me to import image files. I'm running a Mac with Yosemite. I've deleted preferences, I've restarted the computer. The only thing I haven't done is uninstalled and reinstalled.
Any thoughts on this perplexing issue would be great. Using After Effects CC14

Importing images with Lightroom 2 & Camera RAW 4.5

The following query has been raised with Adobe Technical Support (5 days ago and I am still waiting for a response/reply. They claim to reply within 24 hours but they have not on this occasion......they seem to be ignoring me
Perhaps a fellow user can help to identify or resolve the problem.
Operating System:
Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3)
Software:
Adobe Design Premium CS3 (10.0.1); Photoshop Lightroom 1.4 (which was working fine) and Lightroom 2 (on trial and not working particularly well)
I am using a trial download of Photoshop Lightroom 2 (with Camera RAW 4.5 in Photoshop CS3).
I am having a few problems with editing Lightroom 2 images in Photoshop CS3 but I understand that Adobe is currently investigating a solution to this problem.
I have also noticed another potential problem since I have started to import images from a computer drive to Lightroom 2 and converting the Manufacturers RAW files to DNG (with the option to leave the files at their current location/drive).
My RAW and JPEG files open ok in Camera RAW (v 4.5) for basic editing and subsequently to Photoshop for more detailed work. The problem is that all my images are now opening as Smart Objects by default in Photoshop CS3, as opposed to opening as a Background layer". (I have not knowingly opted to use the Open as Smart Object option.
I am not entirely sure how this came about but I have also lost the capacity to edit images with empty Levels adjustment layers or percentage (%) grey fill option).
I am able to highlight the respective layer and create the empty Levels adjustment layer, change the blend mode to either Multiply or Screen, fill the Layer Mask with Black (Alt & backspace), change the opacity level as desired, select the brush tool and change the foreground colour to white to enable the applicable Dodge or Burn processes.
Unfortunately, it does not function irrespective of the preferred opacity level. The Dodge or Burn feature is static with no effect on the image.
I cannot recall any settings to open all files as Smart Objects in Photoshop CS3 but would welcome some help in identifying such a setting if it exists. Alternatively, I would welcome any other suggested methods of correcting the above difficulties.
The same difficulties are evident when I try to use the Dodge or Burn features via the Edit and Fill option with a percentage of Grey and the Overlay Blend Mode.
The "Common Denominator" of the above difficulties appear to be Lightroom 2 and Camera RAW 4.5 (individually and or collectively) and now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Are any other users experiencing similar issues or have any suggestions about how I might correct or resolve these problems? ......
I am not afraid of hearing or accepting that the "Dummy Factor" has played some part or how I may release myself from the said "Dummy Factor".....any help is welcome help.
Adobe Technical Support seems to be ignoring me......I wonder why?

Essentially you are wrapping the raw image data into a special type of layer, a "smart object". You can then revisit and fine tune the Camera Raw conversion as often as you want and take advantage of working directly on the raw data in its pre-Photoshop purity. You can also apply to this smart object layer a number of Photoshop adjustments and filters - and again redo and fine tune them as often as you wish.
You'll find them explained in a number of recent books. I know Scott Kelby is keen on them, there are examples on Russell Brown's site, and my own book last year on B&W strongly advocated their use.

Lightroom imports images with strange settings

Hi people,
I'm not new to LR at all. In fact, I teach LR and RAW image workflow.
But this issue struck me cold with no answers.
I took some photos with my D800 and a WhiBal (WB card).
To my surprise, all the images turned out yellow when I imported them to LR. Now I have no colour settings what so ever to the import process. As a photographer, I do my own colour process per image and not during import session.
When I select an image after the import, I see applied contrast, HSL, vibrance and what not, that are applied to my images.
Why does it happen and what can I do to disbale it? It's nowhere in the settings.
I use LR 4.4 and latest RAW engine.

This usually only happens for two reasons…
a) you selected a develop preset right in the Import window, but it sounds as if you've already ruled that out.
b) you have inadvertently changed the develop defaults by holding down the option key and pressing Set as Default in the Develop module (bottom). If the current image has had any develop settings those will become your new defaults. You can undo this by ALT-pressing Set as Default again and reverting to the Adobe defaults.
(I don't think you grey card has anything to do with it. All images you import should show these unwanted develop settings.)
