Cannot Apply Layer Mask in Photoshop CS6
First off, let me state that I am a *total* Ps newbie…My question regards the following: In Ps CS6, I cropped an area using the Marquee Tool. Then, I Added [a] Layer Mask from the Layers Panel. Next, I turned off the Indicates layer mask is linked to layer BUTTON, clicked the Smart Object Thumbnail, and moved the image using the Move Tool. Now, I right-clicked on the Layer Mask Thumbnail in order to Apply Layer Mask but it is de-highlighted. This is my problem. I cannot figure out how to Apply [the] Layer Mask. (I hope this all made sense.) Can someone please tell me how to do this in CS6? TY.

I started the whole process over again and went through the same steps; and, I don't know if it shows up in the screen capture, but there is, indeed, a frame around the Layer Mask Icon when I right-click on it. The above pull-down menu is what I get when I right-click on it. (BTW, this is for a CS5 online course I'm taking, and this particular Lesson is called "Generating a Non-Destructive Crop." I'm having to figure some stuff out, since I have CS6...) I hope all that info helps.

Why is Apply Layer Mask greyed out?
Hi,
Once in a while 'Apply Layer Mask' is not available.
What I checked myself:
-Photoshop is not in Mask mode (shotcut Q).
-I reset all Warning Dialogs (since this is a way to get a Mask applied by dragging it to the trash).
Can not get it to work!
Any other solutions? Thanks!I found out myself - the layer was a Smart Object. Maybe I should suggest Adobe to let Photoshop ask for rasterization when Applying, in stead of just greyin' out.

Restore "apply layer mask" OPTION?
There's a new feature where you can opt to drag a layer mask to the trash and NOT be prompted to "apply layer mask?". This also has the "do not show again" option -which I clicked by accident. So the default is now to apply layer mask when I drag a layer mask to the trash. I can't think of any way to restore the more traditional function, without restoring all other prefs.
So what I would like is a way to restore the more classic default where dragging a layer mask to trash give me the OPTION to apply or discard.
Please excuse this seemingly insgnificant request, but this is a very common function that I would like to restore.
Thanks!See if clicking Reset All Warning Dialogs at the bottom of Photoshop>Preferences>General resolves the issue.

Cannot find Layer Mask Button!!!
I have had photoshop elements for a long time, been busy raising kids ,,they're grown and moved away so now I am dabbling in watercolor art and my photoshop . I know how to use a few things however , I am having trouble finding layer masks button in Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 2006 version, I did this yesterday , I think I've hid my tools somehow on the right side of my screen,, Please Help!!!!
Haven't used PSE5 in a very long time. I don't remember what version of Elements we added Layer Masks to, but I do remember that older versions didn't have this feature, and it is possible that 5 falls under this category. Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer Bug in Photoshop CS6
I noticed that most of the time I cannot copy a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer in Photoshop CS6. (In about a third of all cases it works, in all others I have to create a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer).
Hitting Command + J will cause my Mac to make an error sound.
Option + delete also doesn't work half the time.
Also: I cannot do a "Stamp visible" above a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Hitting Command + Option + Shift + E will bring another error sound.
I have to creat a new layer, and then create a stamp visible. But half the time this doesn't work, either. Hitting Command + Shift + N will give me another error sound.
I have to create a different adjustment layer, then an empty layer, and only then I can create a "stamp visible".
Only Hue/Saturation adjustment layers are affected by this - but it's a true hold-up.What Mac? What version of OSX? That aside, your issue sounds too exotic to be a genuine bug. Sounds more like some specific combination of settings is preventing this. could be anything from blending tricks to color profiles...

Problem using Brush tool with layer mask in Photoshop CC.
Using Photoshop CC, working on a layer mask. Using the Brush tool to paint white to show the effect works like normal. Painting black has no effect. Just started doing this in the last two days.
Check you Brush blending mode setting in the tools option bar.

I cannot sign in to Adobe Photoshop CS6
I cannot sign in to Adobe Photoshop. I have installed it twice, restarted my pc a couple of time but every time I come to the sign in， the busy icon at the bottom of the sign in screen runs and the sign in form greys out a little, but no sign in text box appears. It just comes up with an error to say that my clock is set wrong and that my permanent-on internet is not on.

has a solution been found to this issue? I am having the same, or a similar problem. I downloaded the Photoshop CS6 beta a couple of weeks ago, but never activated it...I went on vacation.
Today, when I launched the program, it gives me the "Sign In Required" window, but when I click the sign in button, it tells me I am not connected to the internet or that my system clock is incorrect.
I can connect to the internet just fine, and my system clock is correct. I checked my host file per the instructions on a couple of the links listed above, but it has no entries in it at all- all the commented out default comments are there, but there are no active addresses listed.
I cannot ping the activate.adobe.com or practivate.adobe.com servers, but both resolve to IP addresses. I am not running a proxy, and my firewall is not blocking anything. If I go to https://activate.adobe.com/ in a webbrowser, I get a blank page with the title "Welcome", which leads me to believe that I can connect to the activation server.
I've never touched any of my certificate settings so they should just be default, and I don't have the proxy box checked in the IE settings (Internet Connections).
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 on a 64bit machine.
I can successfully reach these URLs:

Question about "Apply Now" window in Photoshop CS6
Is there a way to turn off such warning or notification windows like the "Apply Now" Yes or No window that appears after certain changes, such as resizing an image? Also frustrating that I have to reselect the Select tool in order for the change to take place. thanks for any help. I am a former Elements 8 to CS6 user, so I may be missing something.
Never having used a discussion board before, I am not sure how to even make a response to yours, but let’s see if this works. If I am in a .psd file, and say I resize an image…a photo. In order to make the resize take effect, I cannot just click my cursor onto another area of the file, as it won’t release that particular layer I am on. I have to go back to my tool box and select the Pointer Tool or select too again. Once I do that, Photoshop sends up a window asking if I want to apply my changes…every time. Does this make sense?

Inconsistent layer filter in CS6?
There seems to be some inconsistency when using the layer panel filter with hidden layers or layer attributes.
Currently:
If I have some pixel based layers, some with a drop shadow fx...
If a layer is hidden (eye off) and I filter for 'kind = pixel layers', the layer shows in the results. (This is what I would prefer.)
If the layer is visible (eye on), but the effects eye is off and I filter for 'attribute = layer effects', the layer shows in the results. (This is what I would prefer.)
However...
If the layer is visible (eye on), the effects eye is on, but the individual effect eye (drop shadow in this case) is off, and I filter for 'effect = drop shadow', the layer does not show in the results. I think it should.
In summary:
I think that the filter system should show all layers and/or attributes in the filter results whether they are visible or not.
Mike AbbottI am painting with a white brush - onto a black mask. The purpose is to only apply the Dust and Scratches filter to specific areas.
The brushing will apply the filtered effects when I create the layer, apply the filter, and apply the black mask. The brushing no longer works if I create a new layer and then return to the layer with the Dust and Scratches filter. The problem is similar, I think, to if one were applying an effect with the history brush, close the file, and reopen it. The history brush won't be helpful because the history is lost.. In this case of applying the filter to a layer with a mask, the history brush isn't used and I would have guessed that the layer would allow re-use of the filter and brush.

Please let me add, you forgot one method that I use all the time. You can drag the locked background layer to the new layers icon and it will automatically make a new copy. Only difference is it makes a duplicate so now, there is one locked and one unlocked.

Cannot collapse layer groups in Photoshop CC 2014.
Any solutions out there? Used to be able to just click the arrow next to the folder. That does not seem to work anymore.
I guess when you said "Extension Manager", actually you mean "Adobe Exchange Panel". This panel is Flash-based, which is not supported by PS CC 2014. Now you have to click "Help"->"Browse Add-Ons..." menu item to browse and download/install extensions. Note that you should ensure Adobe Creative Cloud application is running and "File Sync" is on in its Preferences dialog.
