Cannot attach documents in Mail?

I am unable to attach any documents/files to emails in Mail.  Have tried both clicking the paper clip icon and through the Attach Files function in the File menu but nothing happens other than my computer hanging for a minute.
Sending emails without attachments no problem.
Can you help?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Problems with attached documents in Mail and Docs To Go

    Hello everybody.
I've found a problem with attached documents in Mail. In fact, if I click on attached documents with .doc (microsoft office word 97-2004) and files in .docx Office Open .xml, the iPad doesn't open them, also if I click in "Open with Docs To Go (which should support these files' format)".
How can I do? There's an application or another way to open these files?
    Other Informations:
    Docs To Go version: 5.2.2

Update the patch to the Sapgui.
    Regards,
    Ignacio.

  • Attached documents cause Mail to quit

A week ago Mail stated to quit unexpectedly every time I tried to open an email with attached documents, or to send one with attachments. I tried setting up another user and the same email account works fine for the new user. I am not certain if this is significant, but I notice that when in the new user when I go to Mail > Preferences I see the account listed and highlighted, but in my usual user doing the same thing I see no account listed- although when i hit the Edit button in that window it brings up my account details. Any ideas?

When an application crashes (i.e. quits unexpectedly), the system writes information about the state of the application at the moment of the crash to a log file. That information is called a crash report and makes troubleshooting easier. In order to find and post the relevant part of the crash report here, proceed as follows:
    1. Open ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Mail.crash.log. The whole crash log appears in a Console window (you can also open that file with any text editor). It may contain many crash reports. We only want the latest, which is located at the bottom of the file.
    2. Look for a line that begins with “Date/Time:” as close to the bottom as possible, and another that says “Thread N Crashed:”, where N is a number. Select everything from the “Date/Time:” line to the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:”. Copy that text and paste it in your post. Do not post the whole crash log, and do not include anything beyond the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:” either, just the relevant part.
Take a look at the following thread for examples of what a crash report looks like:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=466701
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

In Class CL_DOC_PROCESSING_CRM_ORDER there is Method CRM_ORDER_EXEC_SMART_FORM, which creates the Smartform in CRMD_ORDER.
You may have your own Z-Version of CL_DOC_PROCESSING_CRM_ORDER with a modified Method CRM_ORDER_EXEC_SMART_FORM for your own installation requirements.

  • Cannot attach documents at order operation level in PM order.

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded to EHP6 and I have activated the EAM business functions including LOG_EAM_CI_6. In my PM work order, on the Additional Data tab, I can see the "Document Assignment" section at the bottom. Here I attach an existing document and choose Assign to Order. Then I attach another existing document and choose Assign to Operation (0010). After saving the order if I go back into it (IW32/IW33). the document assigned to order header is still there but the document attached to the operation disappears.
I have defined the document type that I am assigning at header level and operation level in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under Document Management --> Control Data --> Define Document Types. I have also specified in Customizing that the assignment to objects PMAUFK (order) and/or PMAFVC (operation) is allowed for the document type of those documents.
Can someone please advise what's wrong here ? I have to attach/assign docs to operations.
    Thanks,
    Sandy

    Hi Sandy
Can you please make sure two things:
    1) IMG --> DMS --> Control Data --> Define Document Types --> Select Doc Type ---> Define Object Links. It must be something similar to this one. Without entering CREATE DOCUMENT settings, you may not be allowed to attach a document. That might be causing the issue. If you do not want from within IW31, someone is creating documents then make sure this setting has value =2.
One more possible reason for this is 1:n field in this same setting. If 1:n is not selected, please read the help for that field and make sure the uniqueness of your document attachment to objects.
    2) IMG --> DMS --> Control Data --> Maintain Screen for Object Link
For this one make sure that you have a screen entry for PMAUFK and PMAFVC.
Now if attachment does not work, try creating a document and let us know what is the error message.
And do you know that there is another way of attaching documents to the operation which is attaching them as PRT. Just select the operation, click on PRT button and select document and attach it.
    I hope this will help.

  • Cannot attach documents

Even since I upgraded  to iCloud, I have a hard time ataching PDF's to my email. The most recent one was a PDF that is 3MB size. The mesage I get is "cannot be uplaoded at this time. If you are trying to attach a folder, make sure it is zipped or compressed first and then retry.
    I am not uploading a folder, just a simple B & W PDF document that is 3MB in size......suggestions?????

I have been having the same problem.  I tried to attach a PDF that is only 246KB and using the iCloud website (which usually works, unlike the horrible Mail program), I got an error message.  I would take a screenshot, but I logged out, and went back into mail and noticed that the file was actually attached.  I just opened the email and hit send.  Very weird, because before the Mail website basically crashed on me.
Overall Apple needs to overhaul iCloud mail.  The Mail program and the website.  I like it better than Hotmail (no ads, better UI, etc.), but Hotmail always works.  Apple needs to smooth out these bugs immediately.  I find it sad that I have to rely on Microsoft--and Apple proclaims its reliablity versus Microsoft.
I would like to see a resolution for this.
    Thanks!

  • Attach document in mail

Hi, it appears I can't attach a document in outlook mail. Is there a solution?

In iOS, you can only attach photos in the mail app. You have to email the attachment from the app in which the document resides. There is an action icon of some kind in all apps with this feature....the rectangle with the arrow pointing up, or an arrow icon. Tap on the action icon and the option to email the document should appear on the popup.

  • Attach documents in Mail no longer works

I am using Mountain Lion (OS X10.8.2).  It seems several days ago, I lost the ability to attach a document in the Mail app.  Please help

Hmmm, what makes you thinking this?
Anyway, if it works for me, it should work for you, too!
Drag and drop, e.g. from Finder onto mail body?
Clicking the attachment icon in the toolbar of the message?
As far as configuring goes: Of course, I'm communicating with mostly Windozers, so in Mail -> Edit menu -> Attachments, I have activated both "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" and "Always Insert Attachments at End of Message".
Again, it works for me, all the time.

  • Cannot attach document to email

I get the spinning wheel when I am within a document program like Word and I try to share it by email with Mail. It eventually quits and does not attach to the email. This has happened ever since I upgraded to 10.8.2. It does work if I manually drag and drop a document into an email. Thanks for your help!

Having Outlook installed has caused problems in several areas of Mail even if not in use for 10.8.x.  I have to leave the computer soon, so you will have to search out.  In the ML forum, search with Outlook as a search argument, and see what may get presented.

  • Cannot attach files to Mail

Basic mail service is misbehaving on both computers: iBook G4 and IBook G3, both Tiger X.4.3 Cannot send a single or multiple attachment. Single attachment is never over 1.1 MB. Time of day is not a factor.
The G4 shows only "choose" not "browse" button: files will not attach. Just get error message.
The G3 shows "browse" button and I can upload file, but the mail stays stuck in the Outbox. I have tried every possible configuration of .Mac and SBCglobal mail.
Frequently, just plain mail gets stuck in Outbox.
Problem exists whether using .Mac or just plain Mail.
Problem exists in Safari and Internet Explorer, even using Yahoo.
2WIRE58 SBCGlobal claims it isn't their problem.
No improvement with modem attached compared to the airport.
Nothing in Apple or .Mac help answers question.

  • Cannot attach files in Mail app - claims file is empty

I have tried to attach several files to to an email through the mail app and when sent out they arrive as empty shells with the same filename.  If i try to drag the file into the window it will appear but the file is empty.  If I use the attach (paperclip) it simply does not appear at all.
I have tried to delete the /Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist for it is no longer located in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist.
I have tried a Time Machine Restore from several weeks ago but apparently it existed then too.  I have tried repairing permissions through Disk Utility.
    when attaching Console says this:
    4/13/13 8:54:24.941 AM sandboxd[729]: ([718]) Mail(718) deny file-read-xattr /Users/Username/Desktop/Test copy.JPG

  • Cannot attach images in Mail

    Hi,
I am wondering if this is just me, I tried to attach an image by dragging and dropping the actual image in the body of the email. It shows a Plus sign on the mouse pointer but nothing has been attached. Then I tried using the attach button on the compose window but it still does not work.
However, if I drag the file onto the dock, Mail will display a new compose message with the attachment.
So does anyone have the same problem??

I've been having issues as well. After toggling the "insert attachments at end" and getting varied results, I stumbled upon another potential workaround. In entirely blank messages, attachments cannot be added unless the sender first places the cursor in the message body and hits return once (that is with "insert at end" selected).
If replying to a message, this isn't any problem. It seems that Mail needs to know where the end of the message is, and can only do so if there is existing text (a reply or newly composed message), or at least a carriage return.
