Cannot attach pdf to email or fetch

I have one pdf that will not attach to my email or upload to fetch. I get this message when I try to attach to email: "Internal Server Error. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error." And I get this error when I upload to fetch: "Fetch could not put...because the ftp server encountered an error accessing a file or folder." I sent a note to my email provider and they tested and had no problem. I assume the problem is with this specific pdf but I can't figure it out. It is only 128 kb. I exported a new pdf from indesign, but still does not work. Previous pdf versions of this Indesign file also will not attach, though they have before. And other non related pdfs attach just fine. Any ideas?

Maybe you have some directory damage. If you know how to run fsck in unix single user mode, that is what I would recommend. If not I'd recommend booting from your system dvd and running disk  utility to see if there is a problem with your hard disk.

  • Cannot attach files to email.

    Have configured three email accounts on my curve 3g and have been receiving emails and can also send emails from all of them. Can also view attachments such as pdf, xls and doc. The only problem I have is that I cannot attach pdf, xls, or doc files present on my device or media card to any emails. When I go to the attach option in email, only Picture and Contact pop up. Called up service provider (Ideacellular, India) and they told me Blackberry needs to send me attachment services. Called up redington, blackberry support partner in India. After 4 unsuccessful attempts got hold of the supervisor, who told me that " Files cannot be attached to emails on a blackberry". Prevented myself from fainting and told him to check again. He did check again, told me the same thing and has arranged a callback from Blackberry on tuesday. Researched on the internet, found out about blackberry attachment service. Cannot find it on my device. Connected to desktop manager/Applications/ cannot be seen there too! Have downloaded the OS 6 and installed on my comp. Please help! Please also note, have extensively searched all blackberry forums available and tried everything.

    Hi there!
    Thank you for the very detailed report...it helps a great deal. I also congratulate you on being properly persistent with them so as to reach someone who has the proper information...all too often folks will ring up their carrier and reach someone who has inaccurate information...and the user all too often accepts the incorrect information they are given. You persisted and moved on to higher and higher levels of support, receiving more and more accurate information along the way. But, there remain a few things to correct from what they told you.
    While you indeed need the various services you are subscribed to, the service themselves are not pushed out to your BB. Rather, it is the Service Books existence on your BB that enables your services; if you are missing some Service Books, then the associated services do not function. This would include the Service Book for the Attachment Service.
    Additionally, Service Books are not sent to you by RIM. Rather, it is the wireless service providers who push out the Service Books to their users. Typically, a carrier will only push service books for those model BB's that they directly support...hopefully your model BB is one that they do so. If not, then the method to obtain the service books is much more cumbersome than what I am about to recommend you perform.
    I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
    KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    2) Resend Service Books
    KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then please confirm if your model BB is natively supported by your wireless service provider. If it is, then they have done the proper thing to escalate your case into RIM...that is exactly what they are to do when they cannot resolve a situation. If, however, your BB model is not supported directly by your carrier, then the call with RIM may be of no use...I do not know if RIM authorizes release of the procedure by which to obtain the service books or not. But we do know that procedure and could provide it here to you.
    Good luck!

  • Unable to attach PDF to email (Outlook for Mac 2011)

    We are pushing out software upgrades for CS5 and MS Office 2011 for Mac. We've discoverd that we can't use the Attach to email feature in Acrobat. The spinning rainbow wheel pops up for about a minute, and then Acrobat is non-responsive and we have to force quit. We can still drag and drop an attachment so we have a viable workaround but obviously we'd like to be able to use the automated feature.
    All software is up-to-date.
    In the preferences panel of Outlook, we have selected Outlook to be the default mail application.
    As a sidenote, this feature doesn't work with Acobat X beta either. However, in the beta version of Acrobat X, if we declare Apple's mail application to be the default, it works fine. Unfortunately we use the Office suite as part of our enterprise system, so that's what we need to work with.
    Has anyone else experienced this? I've logged a ticket with Adobe but I haven't heard back from them yet.
    Thanks for any advise.

    Take the bhama way
    figured out how to make it work.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro (mac)
    and MS Outlook for Mac 2011.
    For those who are interested, this is what I did:
    1. Create a folder on desktop to save your pdf¹s files you want to email
    to.  Mine is named, "PDF to Email"
    2. Open Automator, create a "Folder Action"
    3. At the top, "Choose Folder", choose your newly created folder on the
    desktop
    4. Choose the "Rename Finder Items" action from the action list.  I chose,
    "Don¹t Add" on the add a Copy Finder Items Action menu.
    5. On the "Add Date or Time to Finder Item Names" I chose, "Name Single
    Item" from the first drop down menu.
    6. Click on "Options" at the bottom of that window to select the "Show
    this action when the workflow runs" so you can rename your         file
    something other than the Acrobat default.
    7. Choose the "Create New Outlook Mail Message" from the action list and
    add it below the "Name Single Item in Finder Item Names"
    8. Choose "File>Save As" and give your file a name.  Mine is, "PDF to
    Email".
    9. Close Automator
    10. Open Acrobat X Pro.
    11. Go to "File>Action Wizard>Create New Action"
    12. Here you choose, "Save to>A Folder on my computer"
    13. Choose the folder on the desktop that we saved earlier
    14. Save the file, with the action name you will remember.
    Now when you are in Acrobat X Pro and you want to send that .pdf file via
    Outlook for Mac 2011, follow the steps below.
    With the file you want to email open, go to "File>Action Wizard>(Action
    you created) Mine is "PDF to Email".  It will take a few seconds, but you
    will get an "Action Completed".  You will get a pop up that allows you to
    name/rename the file. Then it should open your Outlook with your .pdf
    attached and ready for sending.
    You might need to tweak the actions to suit your needs, but this should
    work for you.

    It's supposed to work now? I've made sure I'm on latest (check for update)
    and it says I am. Still get an error. It does bring Outlook to the
    forground, but same error when I hide Outlook - An error occurred while
    trying to create a mail document. Suggestions?

    I cannot attach pdf files in Outlook. Just started yesterday. I need a fix as I use this alot.

    You can experiment with how Firefox would run after a reset or reinstall by creating a new profile.
    A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
    Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
    Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
    You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested (in other words, don't click the button to choose a different folder). Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
    After Firefox settles down, try Outlook. Any luck?
    If it works, log out of Outlook, exit Firefox, restart it and check again. If it doesn't work the second time, one possible explanation is a a system-installed add-on getting picked up or activated.
    When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • I cannot pull up or see any pdf documents that are emailed to me as attachments and I cannot attach pdf's to any email for sending?

    can anyone help me with this?

    Typically the adding of an attachment to an email is done by the email program being used.
    Regarding files attached to an email; rather than attempting to directly open these save a copy to your computer.
    Use Adobe Reader to view the PDFs that you have saved in this manner (do a "file - open").
    Be well...

  • Trouble attaching pdf to email

    Hi,
    I have a pdf file I want to attach to an email. When I try to attach it I get an out of bounds exception. It emails the file but I get an error and the pdf is actually empty. I'm guessing it's not actually adding the pdf, it's just attaching a blank file. Am I right in that I need to use the ByteArrayInputStream to read the file in for attaching? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or how to fix the dang thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
         MimeBodyPart file_part2 = null;
                        String pdf2Name = "dmtpage2.pdf";
                        String pdf2Dir = "C:\\\\lib";
                        System.out.println("Getting page 2: " + pdf2Name);
                        FileInputStream inFile = new FileInputStream(pdf2Dir + "\\\\" + pdf2Name);
                        System.out.println("set file to stream");
                        DataInputStream pdfFile = new DataInputStream (inFile);
                        System.out.println("set file to stream");
                        byte[] streamInfo = new byte[pdfFile.available()];
                        pdfFile.read(streamInfo);
                        ByteArrayInputStream inputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(streamInfo);
                        file_part2 = new MimeBodyPart(new InternetHeaders(), streamInfo);
                        System.out.println("Size of attachment is: " + streamInfo.length);
                        file_part2.setDisposition(Part.ATTACHMENT);
                        file_part2.setHeader("Content-Transfer-Encoding", contentEncoding);
                        attachmentName = pdf2Name;

                             mp.addBodyPart(file_part2);
                             System.out.println("Added page 2");
                        }

    Sorry about not formatting the code. I'll re-insert. Thank you so much for replying so quickly :)
    It's not throwing an exception now. No errors. It attaches the file but when you try to open it, adobe says it cannot open the file because "the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't properly decoded)".
    Why do I even have to open the file? I don't understand why I cannot just point to the file and attach it. From the output it seems like it is getting the file as the attach size isn't 0.
    Oh, DrClap I get a compile error if I don't put the 4 slashes.
    This is the the server output:
    Getting page 2: dmtpage2.pdf
    set file to stream
    set file to stream
    Size of attachment is: 407835
    File name is dmtpage2.pdf

    here's the code again

    I need to set up an Automator action to automatically attach PDF files to an email and send.
    I've tried using a Folder Action, but the action is triggered twice and sends two copies of the email.

    I use email Rocketmail(yahoo product) I am unable to attach PDFs to my outgoing emails, also use Nortons 360-virus/firewall.
    Thank you

    Could you describe the steps and where it is failing? For example, you can click a browse button to look for files, you can see the PDF files, you can choose a file and click the button, but the file doesn't actually attach? Et cetera.
    Can you attach other types of documents without a problem, or are multiple kinds of attachments affected?

  • Attaching PDF in Email

    After I have converted a file to PDF, how then do I go about attaching that file in an email?

    Hi Joshua,
    I do not have enough information about your workflow so I am writing very general ways to attach your converted PDF files to your email.
    1. After converting your file to PDF using either https://createpdf.acrobat.com/sigin.html or Adobe Reader X or XI version, download the PDF file to your computer.
    2. Open your email application and create a new email
    3. Select "Attache File" or "Attachement"(depens on email application) then select your PDF file.
    Please let me know this does not help you.
    Thank you.

  • Attaching PDFs to emails

    When creating a PDF of a MSWord document in File>Print>Save as PDF, the document gets saved correctly, but when added as an attachment to an email the entire document appears, not just the Adobe logo, as was always the case earlier. I've tried testing with earlier docs and a PDF logo appears, but now always the entire document. I use MS Word for Mac 2001 version 11.5.6. Documents attached to emails as docs show just the Word logo, as they should, not the entire document. So the problem is PDFs.
    Mike

    Note that this only controls how it looks to you... how it looks on the other end is completely up to the recipient's e-mail client and the preferences they have chosen.

  • Cannot attach files to emails

    Over a year ago I could not attach a pciture to an outgoing email when using firefox as my browser and yahoo as my email. Then it started working again and now it is not working again. I type an email and try to attach a file and I cannot. If I sign in thru internet explorer I can attach the file without any problems. Any help would be appreciated on why I cannot attach a file to an emailk with firefox as my browser.

    Just installed Pure 2.0 as an upgrade to Kas Internet Security on my ASUS pc laptop. Firefox 18.0.2 has automatically disabled Kas URL Advisor 12.0.1.311, Anti-Banner, and Virtual Keyboard. are these or any other issues w/Pure 2.0 responsible for suddenly corrupting Firefox or my webmail server's ability to attach files to emails just after i had installed Pure? i need your help determining whether that's the cause or simply correlation.
    when i try to attach any file to an email message, my email pops up a blank window with the following address: http://md03.quartz.synacor.com/service/upload?fmt=extended
    WHAT HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM: 1. a tech service call to my isp who thinks Kas Pure is the issue since all isp diagnostics check out ok. 2. disabling Pure didn't allow for attaching files. 3. neither did uninstalling it. 4. neither did re-installing using Kas-supplied recovery disk which then needed massive updates.
    WHAT TEMPORARILY WORKED AROUND THE PROBLEM: 1. restarting Firefox with add-ons disabled. THIS mode allowed attachments, but isn't sustainable. 2. IN ADDITION, as i re-enabled add-ons ONE AT A TIME i could successfully send an email attachment AT EACH POINT. once all-ons were back on and i restarted the computer, the problem returned. 3. sending email with attachments from Internet Explorer (i will not return to that browser!). 4. sending email with attachments through the same isp using our iMac.
    i will now try the fix mentioned above.

    please help me to find out the root cause for this error.

    Hi,
    It is a memory or buffer related problem. Contact your BASIS.
    Looks like there is a shortage of space. Analyse the dump in ST22 and look for its proposals.
    OSS note 965351 might be applicable (if you are on 640/ unix).

  • Cannot attach document to email

    I get the spinning wheel when I am within a document program like Word and I try to share it by email with Mail. It eventually quits and does not attach to the email. This has happened ever since I upgraded to 10.8.2. It does work if I manually drag and drop a document into an email. Thanks for your help!

    Having Outlook installed has caused problems in several areas of Mail even if not in use for 10.8.x.  I have to leave the computer soon, so you will have to search out.  In the ML forum, search with Outlook as a search argument, and see what may get presented.

  • I cannot attach photos to email since iOS 8 was installed yesterday.

    Since I installed iOS 8 yesterday, I can no longer attach photos to email. It just cycles and cycles but photos will not attach. PLEASE HELP!! Thank you!!!!

    Hello DaynaE65,
    After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. You may want to consider performing a restart, or a reset to address the issue:
    Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    How to restart
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
    After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
    You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
    To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
    Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities
    Cheers,
    BobbyD
