Cannot authorize more than 5 computers

It seems that I already have five computers authorized to my iTunes account, but my issue is that two of the five computers were stolen. Is any way that I could reset my account to deauthorize all the computers and start from scratch? Thanks in advance.

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article.

  • You Cannot Authorize More than 5 Computers...

    Hello,
I have a new Dell laptop running Vista. I waited until a new version of iTunes came out and downloaded 7.1 this morning. I backed up all my songs which has been successful and it looks like the album cover art is there too.
I continue to get this message which says:
You cannot authorize more than 5 computers...
You have already authorized 5 computers with this account. to authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers.
I read the KB article and quite frankly am totally confused. My old laptop has been reformatted and given to a friend. iTunes was not installed on it.
How do I get rid of this annoying message? Should I attempt to synch up my Nano or wait first until I get help with this message. Sorry the KB about deauthorizing and authorizing is very confusing to me.
All I'm doing is trying to get my iTunes installed on a new laptop restored with all my old songs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    See this article.

    Specifically this part:
" If you find you have reached 5 authorizations due to system upgrades, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen. Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers or if you have used this option within the last 12 months."
This is what you may need to do.

  • "You cannot authorize more than five computers"

I am unable to play any of my music that I have bought from iTunes music store because when I try to play my music on my new computer it says "You cannot authorize more than five computers". In fact, I only have four computers using my iTunes music account. Any suggestions?

hmmmm. perhaps check to see if you've ended up with multiple authorisations on one of those computers:

After reforamatting my PC, & reloading all data. I tried to sync my I Phone to I tunes. Massage comes U can't authorize more than five computers.

In iTunes, select iTunes Store under STORE (left panel), select your Apple ID (top right).
Sign in and in Account Infomation, click the De-authorise All button.
After that sign in your new computer.
(Note: you can only do this ONCE a year)

  • "You Cannot Authorize More than 5 Computers" I havn't though!

    Hello,
I just accidentally put all my music files in the recycling bin. After I restored them, Itunes told me to Authorize the songs again... then it told me I had already authorized more than 5 computers. It's quite odd because I only own 3 computers.
    Any help please?

  • ITunes will not allow me to authorize more than 5 computers.

I'm getting this message ob my new iMac from iTunes. You cannot authorize more than 5 computers.
You have already authorized this computer you must first deauthorize one of the computers. I did that with my old computer. did a clean install on other with Mac OS X. Anybody can help would be appreciated. Thank you for looking.

If you go to your account under the Store menu in iTunes - you will have the option to deauthorize all machines (if you do have 5 authorized). I think you can only do this once a year. Then you need to authorize the machines you still use.
A clean install does not do anything to the authorization, it's stored on your account at the iTunes store.

  • HT202213 How can I authorize more than 5 computers with the same Apple ID?

Somebody knows how to authorize more than 5 computers with the same Apple ID? I have One Apple IMac, Apple TV, I-PAD, 2 HP PC's, One I-Phone and one I-Pod Touch. I would like to have the possibility to use as I wish the same Apple ID on one of those without deauthorizing another one.

"Somebody knows how to authorize more than 5 computers with the same Apple ID? "
    You cannot.
Authorization applies ONLY to computers.  Ipods/ipads/iphones/Apple TVS are NOT authorized at all.

"is there a way to authorize more than 5 computers for iTunes"
    No.

  • Itunes cannot authorise more than 5 computers

Within iTunes, I cannot get my work PC's iTunes to log into iTunes Match.  It says I cannot authorise more than 5 devices.  I have deleted devices, so that all that remains is a couple of iPads and a Macbook.  It is still saying this message.  It is very frustrating.
    Please help me.

These steps may help you :
Begin by opening the iTunes program and going to the iTunes Store via the iTunes Store button in the top right.
Once you're at the iTunes Store, click on the Sign In button at the top left corner (if you're not signed in) or on your account name in the same location (if you're already signed in).
This will bring you to your iTunes account. In the top box, you'll see a section labelled Computer Authorizations towards the bottom. Next to it is a button that reads Deauthorize All. Click it.
A window will pop up asking you to confirm that this is what you want to do. Continue.
In just a few seconds, all 5 computers on your account will be deauthorized.
Now, re-authorize just the computers that you still use and you'll be all set.
Other Useful Notes About iTunes Deauthorization
    1. It's important to note that the Deauthorize All option is only available when you've used all 5 authorizations for your account and can only be used once every 12 months.
    2. If you no longer have access to a computer using one or your authorizations, or that computer no longer works, it can be pretty difficult to remove that authorization. In that case, it may be better to use friends' computers to reach the 5 authorization limit and then follow the Deauthorize All steps above.

  • Can I authorize more than five computers on one iTunes account?

Can I authorize more than five computers on one iTunes account?  I have several PC's being used as HTPC's and I'd like to use iTunes on all of them.  My three iPhones and three PC's have taken up all of my authorizations.  If I need to create a second iTunes account, can it be linked to my existing account?

  • Authorize more than 5 computers

How do I authorize more than 5 computers in iTunes? And yes I know the limit issue is agreements with the music industry. But I do not want to listen to music. I need to support a business network with the following
1 OS X Server on mac mini
    4 iMacs as Point-of-Sale
    3 employees with iMacs
    2 MacBook Pro laptops
And growing. I need to run apps like iWorks & Numbers purchased from the store. What are we supposed to do?

I am not a legal expert (far from it), but it is my understanding that you can run apps you purchased (from the app store) on multiple computers that you own or control. It would be best to check with the app store to see if your particular situation meets their policy.

  • You can not authorize more than 5 computers

I have music on my MacBook Pro, in iTunes, that I want to use, but it comes from an old account, that I don't use anymore, and some computers/iPods that are really not working. When I want to ear those musics/songs, I receive this message, when trying to enter the account, old, not the actual one: "you can not authorize more than 5 computers"
    What can I do?

    I quote:
You can deauthorize all computers connected to your Apple ID if you've reached the maximum five authorizations:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).
(end quote): once done you can then re-authorise computers as needed.
