Very many thanks to you, Putaro! Your answer provided the solution. It was a buggy plug-in that turned out to be the culprit.
You're off the hook, Apple, and my apologies for stating that you let a dog run loose. You skated by this time, Apple. But I'm watching you.
But again, Putaro's reference to the plugins I had installed over the years turned out to illuminate the problem. I have several plugins in my iTunes plugins folder, pretty much all designed to add more visualizer functionality. I removed all of them, and ALL of the problems I noted in my post went away, with full iTunes functionality restored.
I began adding the plugins back to hopefully single out the culprit. Among the ones I had been using included fielder, G-Force, Timestrech, volcanokit, QuartzComposer, and Jax. I hadn't used any of them in a while - probably at least a verison or more back in iTunes updates, but iTunes continued to work with all of them installed. Currently, only QuartzComposer continues to work in iTunes 10.4. The rest no longer even show up as visualizer opitons, with one exception. Jax does show up, but does not work. AND THE PRESENCE OF JAX IS WHAT KILLED MY ITUNES.
I looked into it and went back to the developer, and it appears that they discontinued developing Jax some time ago - evidently, it was buggy and crash prone. I remember after buying it, having problems with it - having never worked to its touted potential, but I didn't pursue it, and never uninstalled it. Leaving it in there caused all iTunes functionality to cease with the iTunes 10.4 update.
If you've got Jax installed, consider removing it before updating to iTunes 10.4.
My iTunes is now working right as rain, thanks again to Putaro!

I know it sounds confusing. Essentially I have to re-register to get into my Adobe Photoshop 3.2. But they are no longer giving access codes when you go though the registration process. I checked my "online account" and there are no records of my registration for this. I had this program, used this program and I can even see my pictures all lined up behind the "registration" box that pops up (and then kicks me out of the program when I hit "register later"). I just want a registration number...any number...that will allow me to open up the PS 3.2 and allow me access to my pictures. I was told by one of the more sympathetic online CSR's via email that I could call the 800 number and hopefully get another number, but I run the battery out on my hand held phone waiting on hold for so long...I am not kidding you. This seems like a very very simple matter...just give me an access code...but it has turned remarkably frustrating because I cannot reach a live person to ask. You would think Adobe would not be happy that customers would have to wait so long...because why would you ever want to actually purchase an Adobe product if you know for certain that there is no support for it. It is somewhat making up my mind on Adobe products. Again, I cannot retrieve these pictures with a search, they are not in the digital camera folder as someone advised before. I would love any and all feedback on what to do about this. Is it possible that the files are corrupted? Yes...but why can I clearly see the photos behind the registration box. Please, anyone, help!

Count me in as having the same problem. I have been leaving messages in the iTunes for Mac forum where others in there also are having problems. I have been unable to access my account since 11/7/2007. E-mails with Apple have not worked and now I haven't heard back from them since Saturday. I have tried both on a Mac and Windows machine and keep receiving the same error message that:
This Apple ID has not yet been used with iTunes.
I last purchased music with this account on 10/30/2007. I even tried resetting my password, changing my account info, trying on a computer with iTunes 7.4, etc. I have money in that account and 150 songs and 5-6 tv shows that I cannot access. I also just purchased a new computer and cannot sync my iPod with this computer since these songs will not transfer.
Apple really needs a phone number for technical support. Having to deal with e-mails back and forth (and waiting a day for each e-mail) is not a good business practice. Hopefully they will have a phone number in the future.
Either way, count me in on getting annoyed that a week later, this issue has not been fixed.

Hmm, well... iTunes trys to activate your iPod using the Apple server to make sure you have bought it legit.
Two things come into my mind:
1) Your iTunes can't access the internet.
2) Apples activation servers are down.
That's just my cents, maybe anyone else has an idea.

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.

Also, I haven't even put music on THIS Laptop because on my other one, I ended up with at least 5 copies of EACH SONG. Let's see 636 X 5 = 3,180 and they were in EVERY POSSIBLE LOCATION!!!

Thank you so much for your response. I had these photos backed up on iCloud but, had I not, its good to have an alternate solution as the one you suggested. Actually, I went to the Apple store today and yes, you are absolutely correct Restoring in iTunes will result in permanent loss of photos unless backed up somewhere such as iCloud or other solution. Well, what they did was restore the phone in itunes ( I did not have iTunes downloaded to my computer which is why it did not work when I went to do it myself, I needed to go to the iTunes site and go to the download iTunes button because my windows based HP laptop does not come with itunes already downloaded). This retoration process took a while and I was forced to upgrade to the latest 7.1 iOS software which I was not too happy about -sometimes you like the way things work now :-) Anyhow, they said this restoration request happens as a result of a software update (which I was NOT in progress of an update or doing an update) or sometimes when you remove the power cable too quickly from the iphone (which I do not recall doing this either but...). Since I had backed up on iCloud all of the photos were downloaded back on my iphone 4s. Best of all was that my phone was back up and runnning and there was NO CHARGE at the apple store for this service of restoring my phone. Well, I just wanted to share the results and I appreciate all the responses and support I received. Thank you kindly.

Plug in your ipod and navigate to it in itunes, then select the 'Podcast' tab from along the top.
The first line where it says 'Automatically include' then two drop down boxes saying 'all unplayed' and 'all episodes' need changing.
Change the drop down box that says 'all episodes' so that it reads 'selected episodes'
You should then be able to go through your collection below and check only the podcasts you want to sync.
You can do this show by show or if you clickt the show itself in this window, on a podcast by podcast basis.
You can use these to drop down boxes to set all kinds of rules for syncing your podcasts, such as
syncing all the latest podcasts, or just all of them or even the last 5 recent podcasts.
I tend to go for 'Automatically include [all unplayed] of [selected episodes]
Then just choose which podcasts I want to listen too,

I have itunes match and my phone is still filled with songs and have no room for anything else. Must be a set up issue since I assumed all songs would be in the cloud and not on my phone.

Match backs up your music in iCloud, it does not remove it from the phone. It still needs to be on the phone if you want to listen to it.
