Cannot Autofill sequential content into adjacent cells in Numbers

Numbers V3.2 for OSX
Problem #1:
I cannot Autofill sequential content into adjacent cells. I enter Jan., Feb. into the first two cells, then try to use the little yellow ball to project Mar., Apr., etc. into the adjacent cells. I'm new to Numbers, so maybe I'm missing something. I've used Excel for over 25 years, and I'm now trying to convert to Numbers.
Problem #2:
How do you link a cell from one spreedsheet to a second spreedsheet? I read all of the Help files and can't find a reference.

"I found that one of my problems is that I abbreviated the month, i.e., Jan."
If you include a period after Jan, Numbers will not recognize it as a shortened month name. use "Jan" (without the quotes).
Regarding linking cells:
If by "spreadsheets" you mean "Tables in the same document," cells in those two locations can be linked. In the simplest case (two tables on th same Sheet, or two tables, each with a name unique within the document, on separate Sheets, the Table name must be added to the cell reference.
Example: formula in a cell on table named "This" referencing cell B2 on a table named "That" located elsewhere in the same document:
=That::B2
If the second table is in a different document, no. Numbers cannot reference external documents.
If this is a significant issue, Provide Numbers Feedback, using the item of that name in the Numbers menu, to make a feature request for a future version of Numbers.

I'm not sure why you would expect something different. If you put something into a cell, then that is the contents of the cell. If you want to preserve the existing contents when pasting additional content, you don't want to paste into the cell, you want to paste into its contents.
Select the cell, then click again to put the insertion point into the contents, then Paste.

If you've pasted the link into, say, A2, you could try, in another cell, entering
=HYPERLINK(A2)

How can I insert an image into a cell in Numbers for iPad?

Hi,
is there any way to insert an image inside a cell using Numbers for iPad? I tried doing it on desktop version and it works, then I shared it through iwork.com and downloaded into my iPad and it's showing fine on the iPad ( although there's no way to edit or change the image inside the cell ) but when I try to do the same task on iPad itself, the image always comes floating even if I place the cursor inside a cell before inserting.
any idea how to do it or if it's even possible?

Images can be added to cells only as "image fill." Cell fill is an attribute of the cell, not content of the cell. Only cell content can be retrieved by a formula or by copying the content of the cell.
Copying the cell will also copy its format, including the image fill, but I've found no way to extract the image from the cell.

I want to simply multiply 2 adjacent cells using Numbers

I'm new to numbers. I've discovered how to add up columns, but cannot for the life of me work out how multiply 2 adjacent cells.
All i want to do is multiply cell C33 by cell D33 and get the answer in cell E33.
I know that the multiplication key is *

How do I select multiple, non-adjacent, cells in Numbers?

I have a spreadsheet that I need to select multiple non-adjacent cells for the purposes of highlighting them and I can't figure out how to do it. The Excel equivilant would be highlight a cell and then click he desired cell while pressing cmd. This does not work nor do fn, ctrl or option. Is this possible and if so how can I do it?

It's apparently one of those many things that haven't been implemented in the iCloud beta. You'll be able to make that type of multiple selection if you spring for the OSX version of Numbers.

Cannot paste html content into outgoing messages

Using Mail 3.2, I am no longer able to "paste as HTML" into an email message. I called AppleCare and spent 30 minutes on the phone with 2 people in the Phillipines but they were never able to understand my problem.
I am a political activist so do this alot: find something great on the web, copy and paste to an email that I send to a group of people. There should be live links, photos and the original formatting.
Instead, "paste as HTML" no longer shows up as an option under "Edit." I also tried using the appropriate keystrokes, ie, ^V plus apple key, but only got plain text in my outgoing message.
Since it still works on my MacMini, for now I am sending messages with HTML on the Mini, but it's a hassle.

are you using Safari to copy the html stuff? that's the only way Mail will understand it.
if yes, and it's still not working, try reinstalling the [Safari update|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/safari31 .html].

Have a problem in Numbers with entering data directly into a cell when a table reaches a certain size and special characters are used?

I am creating a list of words with special characters in some of them. I get to a point where I cannot enter data directly into the cell. I have to use the data entry bar at the top in the toolbar. Any solutions available?
This is the table I am creating...
From row 25 on, I am only able to enter data into the cell through the toolbar at the top and not directly into the cell itself. I believe that this problem originates from the special characters I have inserted in the previous records because if I do not use special characters, then the spreadsheet acts flawlessly. Have there been issues in Numbers with data entry, the size of a table, and using special characters?

I would try removing the rows with "special" characters one at a time to see which one is causing the problem

"OK - this is how it works:
In order to backup from iCloud you cannot use iTunes!
Therefore disconnect your device from your computer.
Turn on your device and go to Settings and then go to General.
At the bottom of this submenu there is a buttom "Reset"
If you push that buttom you see 6 different Erase settings to chose from!
Chose "Erase All Content and Settings" because this will wipe everything from your device and will let you restore from iCloud! (I tried the top "Reset All Settings" but that did not let me use iClouds afterwards!)
Once you pushed that buttom your device will be wiped clean and after some time you will see the Device Welcome Screen like on a new device!
After choosing your location you will be asked to setup your WiFi-conection. After you joint to your Wifi you will be given the choice to restore the iPad from a backup from the iCloud. Choosing this backup will prompt you with your apple ID and password.
Restoring from a backup can take some time. The process uses your Wi-Fi connection to download settings, content and data. If you had a lot of content on your device, this can take a while. If you are restoring from a backup because you have run into problems with your device that can only be solved by restoring it, you can first choose your latest backup. If you still have problems, you can move on to the next latest backup, repeating the process until (hopefully) the problem is cleared."

builds a transparent image of the component being
dragged and uses it instead of the default cursors.
This wouldn't be a big problem except that the
component it renders is the ENTIRE spreadsheetThis is the default behavior on Mac. You can manually set the dragimage in startdrag(...) in dragGestureRecognized(). So you just need to create an image of what your are actually dragging.
If you simple want to remove the image just set it to some 1x1 pixel image or a transparent gif...

When i plug my phone into my computer itunes says it cannot read the contents of my device

When i plug my Iphone into itunes, it tells me it cannot read the contents of my device and i must reset it, so i did. I had to o this a few months back and it gave me the option to keep my pictures etc. This time all my pictures and everything got erased, and to top it all off when i plug it back in it tells me it cannot read my device again and i need to reset again. What is happening?! and can i reset mt phone to a previous time/ate like you can with a computer?

Worked for an iPad 4 (Retina) running iOS 7.0.3. connected to a Mac (Mavericks, iTunes 11.1.2). Although the file system is a bit different than what is shown on the video, the basic same steps can be carried out: download iFunbox (for Mac, obviously), go into "Raw file system", then "iTunes_Control" (you may want to switch to list view to see the complete name), then iTunes. There there was no iTunesDB file but I deleted iTunesCDB (was 0kB, expect that might have been the problem) and iTunesControl (0kB as well). Also deleted the Music folder in the previous directory.
After that I disconnected the iPad from iTunes, quit iTunes, relaunched, and it started sync'ing :-)
Note that now it's telling me that it cannot sync because an additional 10GB is required! Not sure what the problem is because the bar at the bottom of the iTunes window says it still has another 4GB available. I'm expecting there's a problem with how the size of the music is calculated (perhaps because I also sync Genius playlists and mixes), so I disabled music sync'ing for now so it can complete it once. Then I'll hand-pick the music again and hope it works!

I'm still stuck cannot getthe content into the divs!

OK, I got the third column in place, but still cannot get the content table I need to put in to stay where it belongs or even to show up:
I put one table in going from the code, the other I couls see the insertion point in the correct div, but neither table stays to the width I specify, they expand out to the right beyond the content div and taht put the first table on top of the second!!!

"iTunes cannot read the contents of the ipod", How can I fix this?

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with my iPod touch 32GB and getting iTunes to detect it. I'm using Windows 7.
When plugging it in tonight, I got the message "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod (Name). Go to the summary tab in the iPod preferences and click restore to restore this iPod to factory settings". I attemped to do this, but I then got an iTunes error "3184" and was unable to install the iPod software.
I've tried...
- Using a different computer
- Using a different USB cable
- Rebooting the iPod
Nothing seems to work. I've read a solution as to delete one of the iTunes files on the iPod, but the iPod doesn't show up in my Windows Explorer, so I am unable to do this. The computer does however charge the battery when I have the iPod plugged in. I'm also able to still listen to music on the iPod as well.
One other note, I had the same thing happen to my previous iPod touch. I got my original iPod touch back in December 2010. In October 2011, the iPod just died one day and I was not able to turn it on at all or charge it. When I'd plug it into the computer, I got the exact same errors and was unable to restore the iPod. I sent it in to Apple as it was still under warrenty and they sent me a replacement. Now 3 months later it's happened again. Of course the warrenty starts from the day you purchase the original, so this is no longer under warrenty despite having it for only 3 months. The only difference this time is that the battery still charges and I can still turn it on and listen to music.
Any ideas?

How to allow text to bleed into next cell(s)?

I have what is basically a GANNT chart in spreadsheet form. All of the columns are 2 characters wide, and I use conditional formatting to color in 1 or more of those cells for various projects and tasks. I have a formula that is placed into each
cell to determine if that cell represents the first day of the Project/Task, and if it does, the formula returns the Task name. If it does not, it returns "". The task name is going to be several words, and I would like it to bleed over
to cover several columns. However, since the next cell to the right contains the same formula, but fails, Excel treats it like there is a single quote in that next cell, and cuts off the bleedover. So My task name is cut off.
The Formula looks like this: IF(ANL$1=($C283-$A283),$B283,"") and I am wondering if there is some way have the cells that fail, taking the value of "", treated like a Null instead of a cell with
a ', so that the bleedover will work. I have thought of a workaround, a loop which would go delete all of those formulas that fail, but this is a big spread, from J2 to APL4000, and with any adjustment, I would have to put all of those formula's back,
recalculate, and then remove them again. This would take a lot of time.
I need the physical layout to stay the same. I can't widen the columns, or wrap the text.
Any Ideas?

When you say "I cannot widen the columns", do you mean you are not allowed to?
Otherwise you can autofit the column in question with a little VBA procedure.

Error message: "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod."

I wanted to get my dad a new iPod for Xmas and transfer all his music from his ancient Classic. But when I connect to my MacBookPro, I get the error message: "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod." I see that 90% of the ipod drive is used, but I don't see any songs listed either on the iPod screen or in iTunes, which is worrying. Is there anything I can to save the music? He will be so upset that it's all gone...

My suggestions, when Restoring the iPod.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC.
Disconnect all other USB devices, except the mouse and keyboard.
Stop all other programs except iTunes.
