Cannot back up iPhone with broken screen (asking for password).

So I have pretty much destroyed my phone in a biking accident.  It somewhat functions, but the screen is so badly damaged that I cannot operate it.  It destroyed the frame enough that it cannot read my sim card for what it's worth.  Anyway, I wanted to perform a last backup before I got rid of this thing and it is asking to put in my password on iTunes.  The problem is that I cannot type it in cause my screen is so far gone.  Any options for me?
Also, is there a way to wipe it clean without using the screen?

Same thing happened to me: broken screen on iPhone 5; iTunes prompted me to unlock phone when attempting to do a tethered backup & sync; same computer I always did backups/syncs on and didn't need to unlock phone before screen was broken. My solution, because the phone looked otherwise fine (doesn't sound like yours is though) was to remove my girlfriend's iPhone 5's screen and temporarily replace my broken screen with hers (followed iFixit tutorials).  Everything worked (good thing, otherwise I promised I would buy her a new phone) and sync w/ backup started without me having to unlock the phone, then I put the screen back on the original device and now I'm waiting for my iPhone 6 to come 9/19 and I'll restore from backup. So the broken screen was obviously the thing that triggered iTunes to not allow a backup without unlocking. Another sign something was wrong before I swapped screens was when I connected the broken phone to the charger:  I got a repeating charging-bong sound going off at about a three second interval between bongs.

I cannot get yahoo mail nor send email on iPad 3.  I have OS 6 just upgraded.  It keeps on asking for password.  I think my yahoo email was also hacked to compound the problem.  Please help.

I get this warning now To. Never saw it in last 5 years and 4 iPhones. Cannot get yahoo small biz email access anymore via iPhone on safari web login because of this same warning. Typically , either yahoo or apple screwed up and changed something that effects millions and think nothing of it. (battery gate in all the iPhone 4/4s comes to mind here)
As you can tell I "used" to be an apple fan but after this iPhone 4s dies (prematureally of course) I will be getting my first android phone and see flash and the rest of the hidden Internet that apple kept from myself the paying customer.

  • HT204085 Is anyone having problems with iCloud continually asking for passwords for different items in iCloud?

My iMac asks for password to use calendar agent, iMessage, Calendar agent, etc., about every 15 minutes.  Is there a cure to stop this? I have tried many things and nothing has worked.

  • Backup and sync iPhone with broken screen

I recently dropped my iPhone 5s and broke the display.  The phone itself is fine; I can still hear it receive text messages and emails but the screen iself is blacked out.  I am assuming that it is a hardware problem.  Anyway, my friend tried to reset by pressing the home and power button.  Now, whenever I plug the phone into a charger or my computer, the phone emits an incessant beeping noise every 5 seconds.  What is this noise?  And also, I can no longer use features on my phone like Siri and such after my friend tried to reset the phone.  Is my phone broken?  I cannot really tell if this is a problem that can be fixed with a new screen or if there is something worse wrong with my phone.
Additionally, I have tried to backup my phone by connecting to my computer but it doesn't allow a backup to take place because it needs a passcode to be entered on the phone itself which, of course, is impossible since my display is broken.  However, I was able to synchronize my phone to my computer.  My question is that, if I get a completely new phone, can I restore to a previous backup and then synchronize to the most recent synchronization?  Also, if you have any knowledge on the other questions, I would greatly appreciate some information.  Thanks!

    Hello,
I apologise if this is a really stupid question.
I last backed up my phone a few weeks ago, carried on taking pictures with it etc, and then dropped it, breaking the screen which turned black with a single white line down the middle.
I can receive calls by guessing where to swipe so it is sort of working.
A new iPhone is in the post, but I can't back this phone up because I get the following message when I try:
"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be backed up."
I have been searching the web, but can't find a way to unlock the phone.
So (unless anyone has a genius idea, in which case I will love them forever), what will I lose if I don't sync?
I don't think I should lose the photos I took since my last sync, since Photostream should take care of that, no?
    Many thanks, C
There is no way for you to backup with a broken screen.
You will lose whatever wasn't backup.

  • Cannot back up iPhone with new O/S 4.0.2

I download the new software, no problem.
it says its extracting the software no problem
then when I try to sync I get 2 error messages
iTunes cannot back up the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (-20)
that messages comes up twice the second time tells me to disconnect and reconnect the iPhone and try again. which of course I did and nothing changed. I also tried all 4 usb ports on my laptop. which of course is a PC unit. I can only assume that mac users have none of these problems....
anyone else have these issues and what did you do???

Did you check your security software settings?

  • HT201210 when i try to restore back to ios 6 my screen asks for log in to gyazo site, is this correct

When i try to restore back to ios 6 my iphone 4 asks for login to gyazo website, is this correct?

    1) I downloaded a free game app that works with Game Center...Run, Run, Chicken v.1.1
    2) I opened the app, then closed it. When I opened it again, it asked me if I wanted to use an existing account or create a new account for Game Center. I chose to use an existing account.
    3) I entered my e-mail address (in my case, my Apple ID) and password.
    4) I had to verify the Location (country) and date of birth.
    5) Then I went right to the terms and conditions page, and upon acceptance, I got to the Game Center set up. I completed the set up.
    6) When I opened the Game Center app on my iPhone, I was able to get into Game Center without any sign in problems.
This was in a different post, and worked for me

  • HT201485 I cannot remember my iCloud password. Caption keeps coming on the screen asking for password

while operating my iPad 2 it keeps asking for icloud.com password which I do not remember. Caption keeps coming on the screen. Very frustating.

    Hello monanikhil,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’ve forgotten your Apple ID password, which your iPad is prompting you to enter. The article linked below outlines both the process and options for resetting your Apple ID password.

  • Black screen Asking for password?

Recently I was using my ibook and suddenly the screen went black. I tried to restart and after observing the unit trying to log on it kicked out to a black screen. The screen is completely dark black and says the following: darwin/bsd (nonamecomputer.local) (console) Below this heading it asks for a password. I have tried every possible password I have ever used and nothing. Any suggestion or help would be gratefully appreciated! Thank you.

Again, have you tried starting up in OS X by holding down the x key as the startup chime is ending. (There is a small chance that this could work.)
You could try starting up in Safe Mode. This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
See if you are able to do a little hard drive maintenance to help things out.
I suspect that it may be your hard drive which is acting up.

  • Calling with siri & she asks for password

On the new iOS7 (iphon e 4s) , yesterday I noticed that when I ask Siri to place a call, she asks for my voicemail password, then proceeds to direct me to voicemail, gives me my messages, then ends the call. Weird. I admit I've only tried this on one number (one of my own). But has anybody had this problem?

    Try resetting your user password.

Trying to connect my iphone 5 to the wifi and I can not remember the password to the router. Is there a way of retrieving the password or have the ability to change WIFI password

Your router wifi password will also be stored in your Keychain.
    Applications/Utilities/Keychain.app
type the name of your network into the search field or manually scroll through the list.
The password will be hidden but you can check to Show Password

  • Usually i back my IPhone with ICloud, after installing IOS 5 it asked me to restore from I Tunes what i have to do?

usually i back my IPhone with ICloud, after installing IOS 5 it asked me to restore from ITunes what i have to do to restore all my contact, applications and others?

If your iPhone does not search for a wi-fi connection before you are asked whether you want to set it up as new phone or restore a backup from iTunes, then I guess you have the same issue as highlighted in this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19638850?ac_cid=tw123456#19638850
iCloud back ups can only be accessed via wi-fi that's why you are not granted this option, I have the exact same issue.

  • When i try to back up my iphone 4 it says i cannot back it up with the error code -50

when i try to back up my iphone 4 it says i cannot back it up with the error code -50? HELP

If you are running Windows and it stops on the first stage of a sync then my suggestion is to uninstall AppleDeviceSupport version 2.0.1 and re-install 1.5.2.
There are instruction here to do it on Windows 7 (see the first post):
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3280228?tstart=0
Those instructions are to fix a different problem, but it fixes the problem with syncing devices stopping on the first stage (backing up the device) too. The AppleDeviceSupport 2.0.1 comes with Quicktime 7.7 and, I believe, the latest Safari version.
I'm running XP, so used the Everything search program (http://www.voidtools.com/download.php) to find the directories with the AppleDeviceSupport installers (they have the extension .msi and the version in the directory name) and right-mouse-buttoned them to do the uninstall and install. Note you need a reboot afterwards. (Actually I just sorted out the service in the Service Manager, but that's a longer explaination and a reboot works fine).
    Hope that helps,
    John
