Cannot back up to iCloud. get message my device has not been backed up in 14 weeks you need to be connected to wifi, plugged in and locked" I am all three. I am plugged into the wall via my charger, my wifi is on and i have a pass code what else?
New to iCloud. I only bought the storage to stop getting not enough storage messages. Now I can't back up to iCloud. I get the message "you have not backed up this device in 14 weeks, your device needs to be connected to wifi, locked and plugged in" I connected to wifi and am sitting with my phone about 10" from my modem. I am plugged into my charger which is plugged into the wall. I created a passcode for my phone as I an guessing thats what locked means. However if I am locked I cannot get into the phone to see if it is backing up. So I ask it to back up then let it go off to lock, give it 5 or 10 min to back up and then get back into it only to find its still on estimating time remaining. It won't go any further then that.. What am I doing wrong??
This may not solve your problem but may clear up a couple of things.
1: Re the connected to wi-fi, plugged in and locked thing is for automatic backups. It doesn't need to be plugged in or locked for it to work when you go to Settings > iCloud > Backup and tap Back Up Now. Mine completes the backup quickly without being plugged in or locking (but I don't have a lot to backup).
2: Locked just means the lock screen is on (press the sleep/wake button on top) -- it will work without a passcode (& again, the lock screen on is only required for the automatic backup).
3: You can see what is using your storage and maybe reduce some of it so that you don't have to pay for storage. Instructions in Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

Hold Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your device restarts, so you will be able to use your device again. Finally, open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, and make a backup. The device will be backed up when it's plugged to the charger and connected to your network -

I keep getting a MSG that my device has not been backed up. Going thru manage iCloud I see ther are two backs (one for cell and iPad). They both say "incomplete ". If I delete them cloud backups will stop and I assume I will need to go back to the control.
Has anyone else experienced this? After deleting the backups, go back to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and make sure iCloud Backup is set to On (if not, turn it on).

How can I get rid of the message, and get into my IPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up

How do I back up iPad? I do turn off completely daily.
As long as you keep it turned on, then yes it is on. What I meant is that it must be connected to a WiFi network as well as WiFi being turned on.
You can have WiFi turned on in the settings, but that doesn't mean that you are connected to a network. When you are at home, you would be connected to your home WiFi network. If you try again tonight - or whenever you plug your iPad into recharge, just don't power the iPad off. Leave it turned on and the backups should occur automatically.
But let me also say that you so have to have this enabled properly in the settings. Settings> iCloud> Storage & Backup> iCloud Backup> On. Make sure you have the iPad set up for automatic backups. -
Can you tell me what I should do? My iPad shows the following message, " This iPad has not been backed up in 4 weeks. Back ups happen when this iPad is plugged in locked and connected to Wi-Fi" Thank you in anticipation you will be able to help me, Ray Mill.
Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

My new iPhone 5c sends a recurring message "This iPhone has not been backed up recently because it has not finished being restored. Would you like to download any remaining purchases and media before backing them up...?" I reply: finish downloading, the device is on WiFi and nothing happens. The message returns. Plus with this my dropbox has frozen up. What do I do?
If it is restoring from your icloud backup, you'll need to be connected to wifi - phone locked and connected to a power source. And leave the phone alone until it is done.

Someone please help! I do not know how to fix this. It keeps saying my Mobile Device has not been started and I can't get my phone to show up in the iTunes window AT ALL. It will charge while plugged in, but it just won't come up in iTunes.
Sorry, the error message should read, "...the Apple Mobile Device service has not been started."

My IPad screen is frozen with a message stating that the IPad has not been backed up to the ICloud for 7 weeks, this is not correct. I cannot get the messageto clear and cannot access any of the other icons; is there an emergency reboot process?
Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
No data will be lost. -
I keep getting a message that my iPad has not been backed up to icloud
I keep getting a message on my iPad that my iPad 3 running iOS 6.0.1 has not been backed up to iCloud for 2 or 3 weeks even though Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup indicates that the iPad has been backed up that very same day. Generally the iPad backs up every day, automatically, when plugged in and locked. I get the messages about once per week.
Another iPad 2, running iOS 5 backs up to the iCloud on the same account and we get no similar messages on this iPad.
To be on the safe side I also backup both iPads to iTunes at least once per week.
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening.synching your iPhone to your computer has nothing to do with iCloud backups.
Force an iCloud backup: Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Back up Now
Be sure that Settings>iCloud>Storeage and Backup>iCloud Backup> is ON -

Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
