Cannot bind 10.6 client to 10.7 server
Hi.
I have a mac mini with lion on it, and am trying to set up mobile user accounts.
Trying to bind a 10.6 mac book pro to the server, I go into open dir utility, LDAPv3, edit, click on the server, edit, bind
and I get the error msg: Unexpected Error while binding. Unexpected error while attempting to bind. Operation cancelled.
I am sure I have all the admin info correct. This error occurs on a new computer that has never been bound to the computer before.
Previously I have been able to bind computers to the server (although that was when I was on my own personal network, not at the clients....)
Please help I'm stuck! I have googled extensivley and nothing has come up.
Thanks in advance, rhys
check if the machine all ready exists in OD
(mac address)
if it does try removing it and binding the client machine again
can you join the server without binding

Need Help Binding Windows Xp clients to 10.5 server for a beginner
Hi
I've setup 10.5 server as a standard config. Which turns out it is a Open Directory Master and SMB role is Standalone Server.
I have been able to bind my 10.4 clients to the server domian using Directory Access and choosing automatic under LDAPv3/config.
So far the Macs are working well.
But I need to get the PC XP workstations on board. Where in XP do I have to go to enter in the info for the server to bind the clients to it? All this is new to me and still learning. The server is pretty basic. Authenticating users and giving them access to the shares.
Thanks
SteveHi Dave
Thanks for the tips. I was wondering if you could help me out some more? I have never done any binding on the PC. Macs seem quite easy. I'm having trouble taking the info I have on the Mac and applying it to the correct input on the PC's. Bare with me. I think I am almost there.
I did not have the diradmim account set up. But I do now.
Now I have gotten to my computer/properties/system properties/Computer name
I clicked on the Change button near bottom right
Now I am at this new window.
Computer name: I can put anything I want in here?
Member of: I should check Domain and enter the domain of the server?
(currently in my smb settings on the server I have workgroup set to WORKGROUP. Does this need to change?)
Last question I think. You mentioned the diradmin account on 10.5. Where do I enter this info on the PC.
Sorry for all the questions but having this info would help and get me where I need to be.
Thanks

Has anyone had any problems binding 10.4 clients to Moutain Lion Server?
I'm currently in the process of taking over the support of a 10.4 client network using 10.5 server which they wish to upgrade to 10.8, and was wondering if anyone had issues binding the 10.4 clients.
You might run into problems as wgm is deprecated in 10.8 server
A lot of services have been removed also from 10.6 to 10.8
Webmail
Dhcp
Xgrid
Samba relplaced with apple version
MySQL replaced with postgres
QuickTime Streaming server
Server tools have changed

Binding Snow Leopard Clients to 10.5.8 server
We have just purchased three new iMacs to add into our current network. We are using Network Home Directories hosted on an Intel Xserve running 10.5.8 server. The iMacs are all loaded with Snow Leopard (10.6.1).
I cannot bind the computers to the server to allow login using network accounts. I attempt this via System Preferences-> Accounts -> Login Options -> Join Network Account Server.
The error message is "Authentication failed. Please check the name and password and try again."
I have attempted to add the computer using both the first authentication window (when clicking Join), and the Open Directory Utility.
I can add computers using 10.5.8 client. I was also able to install Snow Leopard (10.6) as an upgrade to one of the 10.5.8 machines and maintain the network login functionality.
Thanks for any help or advice.I am not sure I am doing what you suggest correctly.
From the directory utility i was able to pull down the File menu
and connect to the xserve using the diradmin account. This caused
a new path to appear in the search policy tab.
However, i still cannot bind to the server and still get the
authentication error when I try.
After rereading your post, I realized that you had added the path
a different way. So I deleted the one I had added via File -->
Connect and just went to the Search Policy tab and added a custom
path the way you said. Same results in the end. I could not bind.
I may just install 10.5 on these computers and be done with it.
My method was a little different. In Directory Utility, I went
to Advanced Settings, hit the '+' and added the open directory
server. Then I went to the Services tab, selected LDAPv3, and
hit the little pencil to edit. Then I selected the open
directory server, hit Edit, and tried to bind, but it wouldn't
work at first. Back in the Directory Servers tab, I noticed that
the little status light was grey instead of green. Then I went
to the Search Policy tab and noticed that the open directory
server wasn't in the path, so I went to Custom Path and manually
added it. After that, I was able to bind and the little status
light went green.
However, in this process I also did some other messing around on
the command line. After the first time I tried to bind and
couldn't, I quit the Directory Utility and opened a Terminal
window. As root, I wiped out the /private/etc/krb5.keytab file
and the contents of the /private/var/db/krb5kdc directory, and
then rebooted. That is:
cd /private/etc
sudo mv krb5.keytab krb5.keytab.orig
cd /private/var/db/krb5kdc
sudo rm -rf *
(Be careful with the last command!) -
Binding XP clients to 10.5 Server
Hi there.
I am trying to bind some xp clients to my 10.5 Server. I have set the server up as an OD master with a PDC.
Mac clients can bind with out a problem, but when trying to bind an xp machine I get an error message that says.
"Insufficient resources exist to complete the requested service"
Now I had this problem the other day when I started setting it up and in the end I created another DIrectory admin user for the windows clients and after some testing it looked like my password for the diradmin user was not liked. It had an ! on the end of it, but when I took the ! the XP machine did bind with out a problem.
Now I am trying to bind another machine and it is coming up with the same issue, but the new windows Directory Admin user is not working for that machine either.
I can't get any help from apple as I don't have a select service agreement that covers windows support so I am having to post here.
The log file is giving me this.

Any help on this would be appreciated.Well I have had a look and the permissions for the tmp on the server are:
/tmp lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 11 Jul 18 10:31 tmp -> private/tmp
On my personal machine and another 10.5 server in the office the permissions are:
/tmp lrwxr-xr-x@ 1 root admin 11 29 Oct 2008 tmp -> private/tmp
The permissions on on /private/tmp are on all the machines:
drwxrwxrwt 6 root wheel 204 Sep 21 11:23 tmp
I have tried another approch, with slightly better results, but still no luck.
I manually created and entry into WGM for the XP machine. Just the name of the machine that is. When I then try bind the XP machine to the server I get the following logs.

Binding Snow Leopard Clients to 10.5.8 server 2
Has anyone found a solution to this infuriating problem of not being able to pair a Snow Leopard client to 10.5.8 server?
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10969925I am not sure I am doing what you suggest correctly.
(Be careful with the last command!) -
Hello everyone,
I am not able to bind to my server from outside the LAN, but I am within it. I have forwarded every port that could have anything to do with Open Directory and it is still not working. I have verified that the ports are open. I have tried not using SSL (disabling it in Server Admin) and tried with it, neither work. I always get the error Connection failed to the directory server. (2100)
The reason I'm trying to do this is I am trying to integrate the directory into Wordpress and wordpress cannot bind either, presumably because nobody can from outside the LAN.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
BrianIndeed the server's certificate isn't trusted. That's a first hint. Couldn't hurt trying to install the certificate on the client computer, and then trying to bind.
If it still isn't working:
Secondly... Get a copy of the server admin tools for 10.7 if you don't have them already.
In Server Admin, Connect to your server and click on the Open Directory Service.
Click the Settings button at the top.
Click the policies tab
Click the binding tab.
For testing purposes ONLY and only do this temporarily...
Uncheck everything in terms of security.
Then try to connect.
After a bit of hunting online, there's another person that had the same issue with no resolution.
Until he set up a VPN. Which IMO is probably a better option for you.
Setting up a VPN will allow you to connect to your network in a secure way across the internet as though you were inside the network.
It's a bit more letwork on each client, but the security benefits are probably worth it. -

Adding elements to a node: cannot bind or add element
Hallo,
I want add emenents of my phases and subphases to a table, but I get this exception:
ContextException: Node(RoadMapVIew.phase_subphase_table): cannot bind or add element, because it is already bound to a node
The code is the following:
int phaseSize = processT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getPhase().length;
String currentStatus = "";
String currentPhaseId = "";
String currentSubphaseId = "";
String currentNotifyId = "";
String lastStatus = "";
for (int i = 0; i < phaseSize; i++)
PhaseT phaseT = processT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getPhase();
IPrivateRoadMapVIew.IPhase_subphase_tableElement tableElement = wdContext.nodePhase_subphase_table().createPhase_subphase_tableElement();
tableElement.setPhase_desc(phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseDesc());
tableElement.setPhase_id(phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseId());
int subPhaseSize = phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhase().length;
for(int j = 0; j< subPhaseSize; j++)
SubPhaseT subPhaseT = phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhase()[j];
tableElement.setSubphase_desc(subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseDesc());
tableElement.setSubphase_id(subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseId());
String status = subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getStatus();
wdContext.nodePhase_subphase_table().addElement(tableElement);
lastStatus = status;
//le fasi/sotofasi sono ordinate perciò la corrente è l'ultima con uno status valido
if (status != null && !status.equals(""))
currentStatus = status;
currentPhaseId = phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseId();
currentSubphaseId = subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseId();
if (status.equals(DAConst.STATUS_NOTIFY))
//currentNotifyId = "notifyId"; //subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getNotifyId();
currentNotifyId = subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getNotifyId();
Can anybody help me please?
Thanks,
regards,
AndreaI have solved moving the creation of the reference of the node element and the setting of elements inside the second for loop:
for (int i = 0; i < phaseSize; i++)
PhaseT phaseT = processT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getPhase()<i>;
String phaseDesc=phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseDesc();
String phaseId=phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getPhaseId();
int subPhaseSize = phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhase().length;
for(int j = 0; j< subPhaseSize; j++)
SubPhaseT subPhaseT = phaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseList().getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhase()[j];
IPrivateRoadMapVIew.IPhase_subphase_tableElement tableElement = wdContext.nodePhase_subphase_table().createPhase_subphase_tableElement();
tableElement.setSubphase_desc(subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseDesc());
tableElement.setSubphase_id(subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getSubPhaseId());
tableElement.setPhase_desc(phaseDesc);
tableElement.setPhase_id(phaseId);
String status = subPhaseT.getSequenceGroup1().getStatus();
wdContext.nodePhase_subphase_table().addElement(tableElement);
lastStatus = status;
Thanks everybody for helps,

Address already in use: Cannot bind
Hi all. I have a desktop app that sends commands and receives responses from a network appliance.
All commands and responses work fine except one - trying to use RTPSocketPlayer on port 49154.
The normal command and response UDP port is 49152. Streaming audio should come in on port 49154.
I am closing and disconnecting the socket on 49152 after every command and response.
But when I try to invoke the RTPSocketPlayer and bind port 49154 to my local IP, I get the
Address already in use: Cannot bind error.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
waynewAh OK, I get it. Change the InitSocket() method thus:
sock = new DatagramSocket(null);
sock.setReuseAddress(true);
sock.bind(new InetSocketAddress(addr, sockPort));but also have a look at netstat -an to see who else is on that port and whether that's OK. -

I suggest you to create a value node exactly like Output_Remarks model node in the controller context and populate all the data from Ouput_Remarks node to this value node. You can write for loop or you can use WDCopyService.copyElements() method to copy the elements from model node to value node.
Create one more additional boolean attribute as "isEnteredByUser" in the same value node.
By default this boolean attribute value for all the elements will be false.
Every time when user updates the remarks for a particular entry then go and update the remarks field for that particular entry in the value node. And change "isEnteredByUser" boolean attribute to true.
And every time check whether remarks exist or not in the value node.
Because of this "isEnteredByUser" attribute , you can easily identify the records which are modified at front end while updaing in database.
I dont think it is better to update the Output model node with user input.

I get the above issue and the one below at a client site; the error started with the error below then changed to the one reported above and back to the one below. Everything is working as it should but the issues
started when one of the admins at the data-centre incorrectly applied a gpo which affected a number of service accounts (sccm inclusive) and they expired....hence reporting in sccm got broke as well as this error in the ccm.log file appeared.
Remote client install still works but I believe this error affects new client discovered by sccm, so in other words devices discovered by sccm do not get the client installed automatically....but if all access and permissions are in place...pushing out the
client to the new discovered system works, it just not done automatically, which kinda defeats one the reasons for using sccm.
I have searched the breadth of the tinternet and I can only find two technet reference to the same error - one says to edit the stored procedure on the sql server which I don't think should be done... Like Jason said and I concur....its bad joo joos.
The second suggestion, said you should select all the options in the Client Push Installation properties, I have tried this but hasn't solved the problem.
I am planning to upgrade the site to the R2 CU3 before the end of the year but I would like to resolve this error before the upgrade.
The site is currently sccm 2012 sp1
Any idea?> Resolution? sil vous plait!
MerciHi ,
Please back up the database of the SCCM site. Then run the following query against the Site DB and see how it goes.

Hello all,
Stack trace :
GeneralException Node((<Context path of node>): cannot bind or add element, because it is already bound to a node
I am trying to upload data from excel file in web dynpro context.In the process, when I create and add an element to the node which I want to populate with excel data, it throws the above mentioned exception.
Any idea as to wht is causing the problem ?Hi,
GeneralException Node((<Context path of node>): cannot bind or add element, because it is already bound to a node
It seems that its a mapped node, try to bind or addelements at the source.
Ex: If this node is mapped from controller to view try to add elements in contoller instead of doing in view.

Hi guys! I badly need your help.
I'm trying to bind string[] variable in Java(IDCGetInfoResult) to another string[] in JavaFX (simpleList).
However, I can't seem to be able to do so.
The code statement highlighted in red generates an error message:
the target type of a bind cannot be an array
found: native array of string
required: object or sequence
IDCGetInfoResult -> array of strings in control.java
var simpleList: String[] = bind r.control.getIDCGetInfoResult();
var simpleListView : ListView = ListView {
translateX: 0
translateY: 0
layoutX: 20
layoutY: 80
height: 130
width: 200
items: simpleList
for(i in [0..simpleList.size()-1])
insert simpleList[i] into simpleListView.items;
}By the way, I'm using the Observer and Observable class as suggested by this blog post:
http://blogs.sun.com/michaelheinrichs/entry/binding_java_objects_in_javafx
Edited by: tsubaki.pw on Jan 27, 2010 10:43 PM
Edited by: tsubaki.pw on Jan 27, 2010 10:45 PMOK, I came with a quite convoluted solution, it might be a starting point for real code...
Part of the complexity comes because I didn't want to make my class extending Observable.
A recent thread ([cannot find java.util.Observable in JavaFX application|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5425241]) reminded that we cannot bind a Java variable from JavaFX, so we have to use Observable and Observer pair.
Here is my test code:
ObservableData.java import java.util.*;
public class ObservableData
ArrayList<String> info = new ArrayList<String>();
Notifier notifier = new Notifier();
ObservableData(Observer obs)
addObserver(obs);
void init()
for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
info.add("Item " + i);
notifier.change();
notifier.notifyObservers();
ArrayList<String> getData()
return info;
void addObserver(Observer obs)
notifier.addObserver(obs);
void update(int n)
String newItem = "Item " + n;
System.out.println("Update => " + newItem);
info.add(newItem);
notifier.change();
notifier.notifyObservers(newItem);
public String toString()
return info.toString();
static class Notifier extends Observable
public void change() { setChanged(); }
Test.fx class Watcher extends java.util.Observer
override function update(obs: java.util.Observable, ob: Object): Void
def updatedItem = ob as String;
println("Update with '{updatedItem}'");
def list = javaData.getData();
println(list.toString());
simpleList = for (item in list) item as String;
var javaData = new ObservableData(Watcher {});
var simpleList: String[];
var simpleListView: ListView = ListView {
translateX: 0
translateY: 0
layoutX: 20
layoutY: 80
height: 130
width: 200
items: bind simpleList
var b = Button
text: "Update"
action: function (): Void
def val = 10 + Math.random() * 100 as Integer;
println("Update with {val}");
javaData.update(val)
var scene: Scene;
Stage
title: "Observing Java data"
scene: scene = Scene
width: 300
height: 300
content:
b, simpleListView
javaData.init(); // Placement is important! If you want the list view to be initializedHere I refresh the whole content of the list view; depending on the data and the way to update it, you can use the updatedItem value to do a partial update.
