Cannot boot itunes after 10.1.2 upgrade.

Hello there..I had itunes 10.1.1 running fine on my XP - apple updater told me there was a new version (10.1.2) so I upgraded...did the install and now I cannot boot itunes from desktop or anywhere else...tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck...no messages, no errors just...no itunes.
Do you think you can help or anyone else who reads this?

I Finally got mine working correctly. I have windows 7 64 bit. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled using the 64 bit. It works now. I don't know if the automatic update selected the 32 bit to update. I rechecked the system requirements, it looks like itunes no longer supports the 64 bit xp system--if that's what your is. I would look into that, and maybe downgrade to the olde itunes.

  • Cannot open iTunes after upgrade due to missing .dll file

I cannot open iTunes after a recent upgrade.
The error is "Applepushservice.dll is missing.  Please reinstall iTunes."  Which I have now done 8 times.
I have uninstalled everything, clear the cache and rebooted.
Now what?  Can I download the file from somewhere else and if so, where do I install it?
    Many thanks.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Cannot close iTunes after use.

Since the last 2 update I cannot close iTunes after use. With 7.7.1 I even have to shutdown my computer completly. Downgrading does no works becuase my iPod is updated. Can anybody help.

The top 2 fixes for this seem to be
    1) Update your NOD32 AV software from the ESET site, if you are using that.
    2) If you don't have an iPhone or iTouch, uninstall the AppleMobileDevice from Control Panel > Add/Remove programs

  • Cannot open iTunes after upgrading to 7.3.1

Just traded my mini for a nano and upgraded from iTunes 6. I was able to install 7.3.1 (Windows XP) and sync the ipod so all of my music is on it, no problems. But after I closed iTunes after the syncing I can't re-open iTunes at all-- I get the message:
'The iTunes Library.itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the iTunes folder in the “My Music” folder'
    Please help!! Thanks.

+HOWEVER, once my library finished loading into iTunes, another error message came up:+
+The iTunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-1302).+
Okay. It's sounding like there was some problem with the original library file (that you had for the previous version) that has been preventing the library update from going through properly. That would fit with the non-appearance of the new .itl file with the upgrade, and the problems with generating a new library file from the old version of the library file.
So it might be worth trying a library recreation at this point in time. For instructions on that, the following document should be of some assistance.
How to recreate your iTunes Library
After the library recreation, does itunes launch properly? (without the 1302 we got from the attempt to revitalise the old library file?)

  • Cannot get to dual-boot screen after Win 8.1 upgrade

    Hello,
I have an iMac with Mavericks. Recently installed Win 8 to dual-boot. Instrux then were to hold OPT button during startup to be presented with options for OS with which to boot.
Since Win 8.1 upgrade there is no way to get to that prompt. MS/Win help topics not useful (unsurprisingly). I have the original install disk but would far prefer to save my current config of Mav. Thoughts for workaround?
    Cheers,
    Michael C

holding down option key at bootup not giving you the bootmenu have nothing to do with win8.1
even if one never installed anything in terms bootcamp at all then holding down the option key should give the option between osx and the restore to last clean osx version
if you don't get the option then I'd say the cause is not windows as the menu is handled by the bootloader which is before windows takes over

  • Macbook Pro4.1 Cannot Boot Up After Battery Allowed to Drain.

I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot some strange behaviour of my Macbook Pro4.1. It’s an early 2008 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo. I’ve had this running perfectly for the past 2 months with an Apple 65W Magsafe Adaptor, although I recently got an 85w version so I’ve started using that for a bit. I recently read somewhere that it’s good to allow the battery run completely flat once a month or so, so I unplugged the adaptor last week and ran it off the battery for the afternoon. When it was almost done (10% charge left) I went for a shower and came back to find the Macbook powered down. I plugged in the Adaptor back in but I couldn’t get it to start.
I have to say at this point, that my 85w adaptor sometimes needs a wiggle at the magsafe end to get it to work. Despite this though I couldn’t get the green power LED to light or the Macbook to boot up. I then tried my 65W adaptor, which is perfect, and although the LED lights up (first green and then amber) the macbook just doesn’t power up with it. I tried the 85w one again the following day after leaving the macbook disconnected and battery removed overnight, and was pleased to find that it finally booted.  Amazingly, despite having no power at all for the whole night it came back with all my applications running, safari tabs and the documents open! Anyway, I noticed from the menu bar that the battery was not charging and I couldn’t seem to get it to charge. I ran it all day and the system profile showed that the Battery was about half full and had a ‘normal’ condition with about 187 charge cycles. However I can’t run the Macbook off the battery. When the power cuts out from the 85w adaptor the whole macbook shuts down. The battery isn’t doing anything, even after charging all day and being half charged. What’s more neither of my 65w adaptors can start the macbook no matter how many times I try them. Only my 85w one can boot it, but it’s defective so very rarely seems to work. The 65W ones worked perfectly before,so I don’t know what’s changed.
I read the Apple guide to resetting the SMC and have now followed the procedure several times, but it hasn’t helped. I cannot boot the Mac any more. Does this Macbook come with an 85w adaptor or 65w? I’m confused because the 65w ones always worked until now. Also, the battery itself is only 60w.
I’m going to purchase another 85w Adaptor, in the meantime any advice would be very welcome. Thanks for reading!

Thanks again for all the input, very much appreciated.
So, in case of any misunderstanding, both my 60w Magsafe Chargers are perfect. I use them with other MacBooks. No problem. I also used them with this MacBook, prior to the battery going flat. Again, no issues. Despite that, even when I've completely removed this battery and tried to boot the Macbook up from just the chargers, nothing happens at all. There is no power. I've reset the SMC which is the obvious culprit. Still nothing.
The only charger I have which can start it is an 85w one. However that's defective, so I don't get a connection long enough to complete a bootup. The question is, is this normal? Should this MBP only work with an 85w and not a 60w?? And if that's the case, how come it worked on a 60w charger for so long? And why is the battery 60w and not 85w?
    thanks again

Hello , im having a problem booting up my laptop. i just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 recently. my laptop won't boot up the first time ( the Acer logo appears and the cycling dots turn but then the screen goes black ) so then i turns the laptop off ( pressing the on/off button for several seconds until the blue indicator light turns off ) and then it boots up ok the second time when pressing the on button. haven't the faintest idea on what to do. Anyone willing to help out is appreciated. Thank you. Bye , Neil

Thanks.  My Acer E5-511 works fine when I used the the Win 10 recovery and go back to Win 8.1.  When I reinstalled Win 10 it had the same problem with the brightness bar. I will try the Microsoft Win 10 Reset today and report back.  Until then changing the brightness settings works ok for me. Thanks,Dale

  • Cannot update iTunes after upgrading to Lion

After installing Lion on two machines - a new MacBook Pro and a year old iMac - I get a 'The update “iTunes” can’t be installed' 'An unexpected error has occurred'. When trying to update iTunes. The error happens during the Cleaning Up step.

I am afraid to remove my current version of iTunes in order to install the new one because I feel I won't be able to reinstall it again if anything goes wrong.

  • Cannot open iTunes after upgrading it because of computer version

I just upgraded iTunes to the latest version last night and now it will not let me open due to the fact that I have a Mac Os X 10.4.6 and need 10.4.7 to open iTunes. Is there a way to upgrade the Mac Os X without paying money? If not, can I down-grade my iTunes then?
    Thanks a bunch!!

Download any of the compatible updaters from this page or run the Software Update pane of System Preferences. Updating from any Mac OS X 10.4 version to any newer Mac OS X 10.4 version is free.

  • Cannot start iTunes after installing Lion

I installed Lion Mac OSx, then I started iTunes.
It didn' work, an error message appeared asking me to check whether this version of iTunes works on this vesion of Mac OS. As well, the message asked me to get the latest iTunes and Mac OS update, which I did.
But the same message appears again.
I totally removed iTunes and re-installed it, but nothing new.
    Please help.

you can't install XP on new 2011 Macs.
Boot Camp 4.0 doesn't include drivers, that does not mean you can't install XP.
Boot Camp 4 Lion Installation & Setup Guide (PDF)
While Boot Camp 4.0 will run in eitherSnow Leopard or Lion, it is a requirement for setting up new Windows installations in Lion even though existing Boot Camp 3 installations will continue to work in Lion if you upgrade your systems. What this means is that if you have an existing Windows XP or Vista installation when you upgrade to Lion then Boot Camp will still work, but you will not be able to upgrade it to version 4 or later.
Boot Camp 4 requires Windows 7 or later | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews
You don't NEED new 4.0 drivers, that is settled.
There is one sentence in the above article that needs to be confirmed, I highly doubt the accuracy:
if you decide to set up a dual-boot environment for Windows from a Lion installation then you will need to have Windows 7 or later, as your older XP or Vista discs will not work.
The only way Lion can allow XP to boot if it was there before, but not allow installing, would have to be the GPT partition.
Block = prevent = "cannot install" IS a form of blocking and preventing.
    So Apple does block.
    OP:
My iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) or iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010) displays a black screen during installation of Microsoft Windows 7 using the Boot Camp Assistant.  How do I fix it?
The Windows 7 installer does not include required graphics or Bluetooth drivers for this computer.  To obtain the necessary drivers and resolve the issue, see this article.

  • Cannot open iTunes after moving to new Mac

I just replaced my original MacBook with one of the new ones, the aluminum 2.0 GHz one with the RAM upgraded to 4 GB. I had everything on the hard drive of my old computer transferred to the new computer by the staff at the Apple store.
However, now when I try to open iTunes, I get a message saying, "The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes," and no iTunes window. Every iTunes menu option is grayed over except for "Hide iTunes" and "Hide others", so I can't check for updates. When I click OK to the message saying "The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes," iTunes closes.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Update you iTunes by running Software Update (Apple Menu-> Software Update) or going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
