Cannot bridge Classic to Playbook

We are trying to connect bb playbook to the classic.  we have bb bridge on the playbook and have downloaded for the classic.  We have bluetooth turned on for both units but when you do the scan code the two are not recognizing each other.  We have even tried doing this manually and the units cant seem to find each other and times out.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tips ????

I had no problems setting up and using BB Bridge on my Classic with my two PlayBooks.  If the procedure that Ira suggests doesn't work, can you confirm that there's not a problem with each device?  Do you have another BB device to try and use Bridge with your PlayBook to confirm the PlayBook's bluetooth is working properly?  Have you tried to connect other bluetooth devices to the Classic?  If all else fails, try running the BBVE app on the Classic (you'll still need another bluetooth device running to pass the BBVE test).  Hope that helps.

  • Cannot start Classic mode after 10.3.9 update

    Hi!
I recently used the "Software Update" tool to update my 10.3 OS version to 10.3.9. After doing this, I found that I could no longer start Classic mode while in OSX. I did a clean install and can boot using OS 9.2.2, no problems. But I still cannot launch Classic while in OSX.
The exact error message is: "There is a problem with updating the Classic-specific files. Classic was unable to update its file in "System Folder" on "Macintosh HD".
I have a graphite G4 with 384 MB RAM and I'm still running a helluva lot of OS 9 software. Any suggestions?
    Thanks for the help

    Hi, Joe -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Try removing the 'old' Classic-specific files from the OS 9 System Folder (you can do this while booted to either OS, although I suggest doing it while booted to OS 9).
These files include - Classic, Classic Support, and Classic Support UI (all usually located loose in the System Folder); Classic RAVE (in Extensions folder); and ProxyApp (someplace - location seems to vary).
Put those in the Trash and empty it, then restart into OSX and try designating the OS 9 System Folder as Classic via the Classic pane in OSX's System Preferences (in Apple menu).

  • Bold 9930 Bridge Application for Playbook

    Greetings,
I am currently in Afghanistan with the coalition forces,I just ordered a blackberry playbook to use with my Bold 9930 and I cannot access the app store to download bridge here in this country because it is not supported. I am not going to be in a country with access to the app store for some time. I tried to contact Blackberry and RIM via email to see if they could help and have gotten no where. Apparently they want you to spend lots of money on their products yet offer no support..... This forum is my last option in getting the Bridge app. Can anyone assist me?

    Hello PatrickCGross,
I can feel your frustration. Indeed the BlackBerry AppWorld is not currently available in Afghanistan, and you do need it to download BlackBerry Bridge on your 9930. There is no other official way.
On the other hand, you can find some Bridge installer published by individuals. Maybe on the crackberry.com forums. I would not trust them, but maybe you would.
But I don't have the Bridge (my smartphone is a corporate one and I am not allowed to install the Bridge on it) and I am very happy with my PlayBook. and of course I am aware that you may have different needs than me.
But if you look at the bright side, you have a wonderful BlackBerry 9930 device, and next to it, a great tablet for viewing videos & playing Need For Speed.

  • Bridge Browser on Playbook Not Working

I just got my Playbook, I love it! I connected the Playbook (OS 1.0.3.1.868) to my Curve 9300 (using OS 5.0.0.977 on BES) through bridging.  All Bridge functions work well EXCEPT the Bridge Browser.
When I type in a web page address in the Bridge Browser on the Playbook, it loads 1/4 of the way and then a popup window asks me to type a "File name" and "Save To". When I do (or cancel) nothing happens and I get a blank white screen with "No Title".
My Browser on the Curve 9300 is working fine.
    Please help!

I am on BES and it works for me, we dont have any fancy settings either.
I am wondering if it has to do with the way BES is routing data access on your device.

  • Cannot install classic on my Power Mac G4

I have a Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio). When I purchased it from ebay it came with 10.4.8 installed but with no classic support. The reason I wanted classic is becuase I have dvd studio pro that needs classic to run. So I found a Apple KB that said that you could not install classic on a 10.4.8 machine and that you needed to downgrade to 10.2 (i think)using the restore disk and then use the software restore to install classic support. Since this was a new to me system this was not a problem. After downgrading to 10.2.7 (this was the OS on the grey restore disk (my mac also came with 10.2 disk that were not grey But I thought I should use the grey ones)) I then put in the software restore CD with the two cirlce shapes into the drive. The disk then says that it installed the software and goes to a screen that takes up most of the screen and then says that the wrong disk is on the drive and to put in the disk with the two circles in the drive. Then it ejects the disk. Since the disk in the tray is the disk that it is asking for (that I can tell anyway) I then push the tray back in with the same disk (two circle shapes) it reads it and then spits it out again saying that it is the wrong disk. I have tried this many times but still get the same message about the wrong disk. I only have one power mac g4 so there is no way I'm using the wrong software restore disk. I guess it is possiable that the seller who sold me the power mac could have given me the wrong software restore disk but the disk do say power mac g4 software restore on them. I also looked around ebay and saw the the software resotre could come on DVD's as well. Mine are on 4 or 5 CD (i think). Well that is my problem. Any help would be most welcome. Also I'm at work writing this so if anybody needs any specific info I will not be able to respond with the info right away.
Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio) 733   Mac OS X (10.2.x)   1 Gig Ram, 80 Gig HD

    Hi, Steve.
If, when your hard drive was last formatted using OS X's Disk Utility, the option to install Mac OS 9 drivers was selected, then you will be able to install OS 9.2.1 on it by starting up from the 9.2.1 CD and running the installer normally. There is no need to erase the hard drive, and if you don't do so, the already-installed OS X will not be disturbed.
If OS 9 drivers were not installed when the drive was last formatted, the OS 9.2.1 installer CD won't be able to detect the hard drive at all, and you won't be able to install on it. In that event, you'll need to start up from your OS X 10.4 installer disc and reformat the hard drive, which will completely erase it. Be sure this time to select the option to install OS 9 drivers on it. Then install OS 9.2.1, and finally, reinstall OS X 10.4 and apply the combo updater to 10.4.8.

  • I cannot open Classic on my iMac OS X 10.3.9

I bought a learning program for my daughter but need to open Classic in order to install it on my computer. I found the Classic folder in my system folders but it is empty. Can you help please. I have searched on here for hours but can't find my answer. Thanks.
    Ashley

    Hi Ashley,
As I understand it, this is the first time you need Classic. If so, you need to install it from your original disks (these should be gray disks, not black ones). I don't have the gray disks with 10.3 on them, but I looked at some with 10.4 -- probably yours will be similar.
I inserted the first disk, and opened "Read Before You Install". There is a section "Installing Mac OS 9" that gives instructions for installing the necessary software.
Do not reinstall OS X. It is a good idea to run Disk Utility, select your disk, and choose "Repair disk permissions" before and after any install. You may also want to run "software update" after installing Classic.
If you are not sure whether Classic is installed, open your disk and look at the icons. The folder named "System" is OS X. If Classic is installed, there is another folder named "System Folder" with an icon with "9" on it. That contains the software Classic needs.

  • Cannot bridge mode with netgear and tg799 on nbn

I am on fixed wireless nbn so there are no uni v ports on the nbn ntd i have a netgear r7000 that i'd like to use as a an access point and router im happy to use a tg799vac in bridge mode to get dial tone but it is unable to authenticate via ppoe when i set it up in bridge mode the netgear r7000 authenticates using ipoe through the tg799vac and i am unable to get dial tone has anybody had any experience with this problem?

    Hi JimmyWish,
The way NBN works is that the modem doesn't need to authenticate to get you connected.  If you plug a PC directly into the Wireless NTD's activated Uni-D port you will be able to surf the internet.  The TG799  modem is provided to allow a wireless LAN connection and provide you with a voice service.
The set up you are explaining is not supported by BigPond technical support, however I could advise that you connect the TG799  directly to the NTD, place it into bridge mode and then connect your Netgear r7000.  See how that goes.

  • BBM icon not showing in Blackberry Bridge on Playbook

I've setup the Blackberry Bridge between the Playbook, and a BB Torch, all the bridge icons are showing except the BBM icon.   Is BBM available yet through the bridge connection?
Does anyone know when a video chat app will be available, is is this going to be pushed out through an update?

Here is another example of where someone from RIM needs to STEP UP and provide a definitive answer to the question:  Is BBM supported on PB. And the related question: Is SMS messaging supported on PB.  Seems crazy that RIM is leaving new PB users in limbo.  The answers are all rumors and heresay.  Let's get a statement on this from RIM!
Similarly, there are no answers from RIM on the issues with email attachments and other email quirks.  **bleep**?

  • Bridge drops while connected to Playbook and Z10.

    Hi,
I have a Z10 10.1 software with Telus and the updated Playbook software.
when im bridged to the playbook the bridge connection drops once and a while.  There are no other bluetooth connections around when I am in my home that could be interferring...
Are there any issues with the bridge connection?

    Hi mikeymike123,
Could you please provide as much detail as possible on this issue so we can better assist?
What version of BlackBerry Bridge do you have installed?
Do you receive any error or warning message when the connection drops?
Are you accessing any specific features when this happens?
Are you always in the same environment when you have this issue?
What steps do you need to perform to restore your connection?
I look forward to your response.

  • BlackBerry Bridge with PlayBook: Which BB phone(s)?

Can someone tell me which BlackBerry smartphone models are going to support the bridging with a PlayBook? Preferrably including sharing the phone's internet connection.
I'm thinking of picking one up so I can enjoy all of the PlayBook.

  • Playbook & Bridge 2.0 - Bridge browser not available on Playbook

I have a Torch 9800/6.0 OS - Carrier Telus Mobility.
Upgraded Playbook to 2.0 this morning and Bridge on Smartphone to new 2.0 version.  When accessing Bridge on Playbook; Bridge Browser is no longer an option.    I also have a enterprise activated torch 900/6.0 OS on Rogers.  Same version of BlackBerry Bridge.  If I pair my Playbook with the Rogers/enterprise activated Torch the Bridge Broswer shows up on Playbook; when I pair my Playbook with teh Telus/personal Torch, no Bridge Broswer shows up.  All other Bridge options are there.
Any suggestions?  Is this a RIM or Carrier issue?

I actually have Bridge on the Playbook and it is there when testing with both devices and the options that display when you click on Bridge all work.  The issue I have is that Bridge Browser icon/option does not even appear under Bridge.  It does when connecting to the same type of device that is enterprise activated and on Rogers, but not when connecting to the personal device which is on Telus.
I have deleted Bridge from both Smartphones and reinstalled the latest from AppWorld for both - to make sure I was comparing the exact same versions (battery pull reboot performed as well).  No change in the results.

  • What you need to know concerning Playbook, Bridge, Q20, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile

I'm on Bold 9900 and Bridge works flawlessly with my Playbook at 4G speed.  Problem is, I am on T-Mobile and the service is very spotty where I live. They sent me the signal boosters but they don't help. I'm thinking on moving back to AT&T or Verizon and getting the Q20 when it comes out, BUT I don't want to lose ability to bridge to my Playbook. I love my playbook!  Any advice - most appreciated?  Thanks so much!   Michaux.
