Cannot Burn or Import CDs - Error 1450

Help!
I cannot burn audio CDs or import from audio CDs in iTunes.
I have tried upgrading, downgrading, deauth'ing and auth'ing my PC, and looked on FAQs to no avail.
I have run the CD diagnostics and get error 1450 from it. Is anyone able to help me please?
Thanks - Gordon

just to follow on from that - i have 'itunes music library' (that from what i gather reading on this site doesn't contain all the info about my playlists and playcounts) but when i find just the 'itunes library' and try to open it a box pops up from windows telling me it can't open it as it odesn't recognise it - i think this has something to do with the fact that a while back i moved my music from my c drive to my e drive.

When I start itunes I get a message that says itunes was not installed properly and if I want to burn or import CDs I need to reinstall itunes. I haven't tried burning any CDs but itunes imports CDs just fine. Everything else seems to work OK. I'm using itunes on a Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit machine. What's up?

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Cannot Burn or import music from itunes

every time i open itunes i get a pop up that tells me that i must reinstall itunes before i will be able to burn or import music.
i have gone round and round with tech support trying to figure out why i can no longer burn discs. i was told that my internal cd/dvd drive must have gone bad and that i needed a new one. i went and purchased one, an external drive, and STILL CANNOT BURN OR IMPORT MUSIC! I can copy CDs and DVD from my internal drive so i now know that my drive is not bad and that the issue is not with my computer it is with itunes. my question is how do i get itunes to recognize that i do infact have a working drive? and if i cannot burn music from itunes how can i get it somewhere else on my computer so i can?
i am SO fed up with itunes and am about to just give up on it completely!
    please help! ANYONE!!!

  • ITunes will not burn or import CDs

I recently installed iTunes 7. Out of nowhere it won't Burn or import CDs. When I open iTunes a message states "can't burn or import because CD Configuration folder is not in the same folder as iTunes". My CD configuration folder is in the same folder as my iTunes folder. I attempted to reinstall iTunes, but with no avail. Then I deleted the CD Configuration folder and iTunes Setup folder, then I reinstalled iTunes, but again I had no success. If you have any pointers please inform me. I'm really confused because what iTunes is telling me is wrong, is actually how it is supposed to be. Recently I've downloaded a DVD Ripping Software and Nero Software, so perhaps that has something to do with it. But anyway if you have any solutions let me know.

    Hi Innonut;
You are asking your iTune question on the Leopard forum. If you would report in the Windows iTunes Forum, you might get more response there.

  • Cannot burn or import songs

    Hi everyone,
I posted this problem a few days ago, but my question kind of got lost when other peole started posting other questions on the same thread. I still haven't solved my problem, here is the original question:
I have my itunes on an external hard drive, and just recently when I went to open it, itunes came up fine, but before it did I got the following message:
    "Warning!
iTunes cannot locate the CD configuration folder, so you cannot import or burn CDs and DVDs. This folder must be in the same directory as iTunes."
I know to some it may seem self explanatary, but I am confused. I think I must have deleted something, so I have looked in my recycle bin, and there is nothing there to the name of 'cd configuration folder' so I'm not sure what to do. I did recently delete some files and I may have deleted something I shouldn't have, but I'm now fairly sure it isn't anywhere on my computor considering it isn't in my recycle bin (unless it is likely to be in another name). Is there anyway I could download what I need a fresh - without loosing all my play counts, playlists and music?
    Please help!
since I posted that a few kind people have suggested various things - for example that I ensure the cd configuration is in the same directory as 'my music'. I have put the cd config folder in the same folder as my music (is folder the same as directory?) but the problem persists.
Another possible solution was to uninstall itunes and reinstall it - i was told as long as i have my itunes music library (which i have) the play lists and play counts should still be remembered....but i am worried that it wont work because like the other solution whereby i put the cd config folder in my music but the problem persists....
If i uninstall itunes - how do i ensure that when i reinstall it, it will pick up my music library? You see I have a 60 g ipod and really don't want to have to create all my playlists again...
thanks for your help in advance

just to follow on from that - i have 'itunes music library' (that from what i gather reading on this site doesn't contain all the info about my playlists and playcounts) but when i find just the 'itunes library' and try to open it a box pops up from windows telling me it can't open it as it odesn't recognise it - i think this has something to do with the fact that a while back i moved my music from my c drive to my e drive.

  • Cannot burn a DVD without errors!! Plays fine in IMovie and Quicktime.

Have been using IMovie for almost a year and really regretting getting an IMac, as I am having so many issues with it. Initially, I thought the issue was with IMovie (although when I finish a movie it plays just fine on the computer). Then I thought the issue was with the Quick Time export (although when I finish the export and play from the Quick Time file, it perfect).
Then, I burn the DVD, using IDVD. I think this is the issue! Specifically, when I play the new DVD, the following occurs:
    1. Some (not all) music tracks are distorted or sound like there are two tracks playing over each other;
    2. Some (not all) music tracks don't play;
    3. The sound levels of the music is erratic and increases in volume significantly;
    4. The DVD (normally towards the end) starts pausing and usually takes me back to the beginning.
I have now made a number of DVDs, some longer than others, some shorter, but all seem to have these issues.
As stated above. The movie plays fine in the IMovie file on full screen view AND in the Quick Time viewer file. It is when the DVD is burnt that all these errors occur.
I have tried changing the settings in IDVD. Even tried the professional quality.
Can some one please help in a relatively non technical way? I am really ready to throw away the IMac and go back to Showtime on windows, which was far easier to use. Please help?

Not sure how to check how much memory?
Click on the icon for your hard drive. Then go to File>Get info; this will bring up a window that will show you what the capacity is for your hard drive as well as the amount of available space. It is this available amount that you need to check.
The source of the music is ITunes. I think they are MP3, not sure, but they are MP3 compatible.
It is possible that this could be the origin to your difficulty; it has been in the past. Convert the format of your music to AIFF. Here are the directions from iTunes Help:
    +_Saving a copy of a song in a new file format_+
+You can convert a song to a different file format (and keep a copy of the original). For example, you can save a copy of a compressed song file such as MP3 or AAC in an uncompressed song format (AIFF or WAV).+
+When converting from a compressed to uncompressed file format (for example, from MP3 to AIFF), you shouldn't notice any reduction in sound quality. However, when converting between compressed formats (for example, MP3 and AAC), you may notice a reduction in the sound quality. For the best results, if you want your music encoded in a different file format, import the music again from the original source using the new encoding format.+
+IMPORTANT: Except for iTunes Plus songs, you can’t convert iTunes Store purchases.+
    +To convert a song's file format:+
+Choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Importing.+
+In the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the format you want to convert songs to, and then click OK to save the settings.+
+Select one or more songs in your library, Option-click, and choose “Convert Selection to.”+
+The song in its original format and the newly converted song appear in your library.+
If your music was purchased from iTunes and is not iTunes plus, post back for directions on how to change the format.
What brand of DVD are you using and what speed are you using for the burn?
The very knowledgeable users on this forum recommend Maxell or Verbatim. Also, be sure to burn at 4x or lower. This tends to reduce the likelihood of errors during the burn process. As an added step, close your other applications during the burn process.

  • Won't burn or play CDs

    Considerable trouble with CDs.
As a preface: iMac (specs below) spent the better part of a month in an "authorized" Apple shop. To upgrade RAM from 256 MB to 2 GB. In what I was told would be a routine process taking no more than an hour, they had "issues," including a "failed" logic board, replacement, failure of that one, again replacement, and supposedly fixing a lot of problems they had with this project. These included things like "kernel panics," frozen screens, applications not opening or suddenly quitting, and on and on.
No its back home .... working perfectly they say, everything "fixed" (by the way, at no charge to me) .... but:
I'm trying to test everything to see if it really works. So far, all things I've tried seem to be working .... except for the following:
Cannot burn or play CDs. When trying to burn: machine makes unfamiliar, odd sounds like buzzing, or clicking; presents a pop-up window saying "song titles cannot be found on-line" (why should they, they're in my iTunes playlists), "do you want to continue?" and then starts to burn using "Track 2, Track 2, etc. Says it will take about five minutes, but the time "increases" during burn to up to 17-18 minutes, then will stop during the process after maybe several tracks show a green check mark. Or, just after inserting the CD, it will show "Checking Media" in window, stop and kick open the CD door, close it, open it again.
When trying to play what it has recorded on the CD, music is corrupted.
When just inserting any precorded CD of mine (CD-Rs)it either will not play, or the music will be sharply distorted, corrupted.
In other words, nothing about the CD aspect seems to be working.
Would certainly appreciate any suggestions, thoughts, advice before I return to the shop.........for what would be the fourth time in the past month.
    Thanks in advance

since i do not know the answer and this is in the ipod mini section i would recommend u putting it in the imac section
    Sorry

  • Cannot burn CDs - Error 4261

So the deal is that I used to be able to burn with this cmputer fine using itunes. All of a sudden, it stopped being able to burn, giving me an unknown error (4261). I thought this was because I updated to version 6, so i installed version 5. I still cannot burn anything. I have tried to find firmware and I don't think there are any files available for me to download. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, I sincerely appreciate your help. Thanks!

  • Cannot import CDs into iTunes, disc is corrupted and unreadable error.

Cannot import CDs into iTunes, keep getting disc is corrupted and unreadable error. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
I downloaded the program and ran it, got to the point where it says I have errors that need to be fixed... but it appears I have to pay for the rest of the program to actually repair these errors. Is this incorrect?
If I do have to pay, then I'd like to look for an alternative... the program is $40; of course, that's cheaper than buying a new iPod, but I want to avoid that too.

  • I noticed that iTunes is making all my imported music m4a, instead of MP3, now I cannot burn cds.  Can you change m4a's to MP3's?

I noticed that iTunes is changing all my music I import into m4a, instead of MP3.  Now I cannot burn MP3 cds.  Is there anyway to change the m4a into MP3 so I can burn cds & listen to the cds in my car?  The M4a do not play in the car.

  • Updated iPhone / iTunes and now cannot Import CDs

    OS: Win7 Home Premium
    iTunes: 10.1.0.56
Yesterday I decided to take the plunge and started importing my CD collection. About 30 CDs in I decided to take a break. I plugged in my iPhone and hit the update button in iTunes. (I’m not sure if I got the iPhone update and/or Itunes + quicktime update.) At any rate, when I went back to importing CDs nothing would import. I’ve tried about 5 different CDs, but each gets a version of this error, “Error occurred while converting the file [blah blah blah]. The disk could not be read from or written to.”
I can play CDs using iTunes. I can play previously imported CDs using iTunes. But now I cannot import CDs.

Its always the first song of the CD as I try to import it. I can play from the CD without any problem. However, when I click 'Import CD' I get the following type of error, "Error occurred while converting teh file 'Mozart: Le Nozze Di Figaro, K 492 - - Overture'. The disk could not be read from or written to.
I'm trying to save to a network folder. I'm not sure what the path is or how to find it again in iTunes.
