Cannot buy Music

We never be able connect to the music store with our new iPod Nano. We can listen to songs from iTunes, download our own music CDs and photos but we cannot purchase music from iTunes. After confirming our account info our computer just spools as if to connect, but nada! Our USB is connected directly to the back of the G4.
Perhaps we have some sort of security in pkace preventing us from going to that next step?

Yeah it must be a security or firewall thing; you should probably turn off your firewall or whatever you have and then try to access the Music Store.

    You canot easily change your country settings.  The iTunes Store in a country is intended only for use by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.
    E.g., "The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations.     i can access the music store, but i cannot buy music... it says "the store is not available for short time. try later". this is happening for two weeks now. when i try it 20 times maybe i get through.

    If you are in Kuwait then you can only buy/download content from the Kuwait iTunes store - the terms of use of the stores state that you cannot use another country's store. As the Kuwait store only has apps, podcasts, iTunes U, and free books (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599) then unfortunately they are the only content types that you can get from Apple - Apple can only sell what the copyrightholders/distributors (and/or a country's laws) allow to them sell in each country

  • Cannot Buy Music on iTunes Music Store --- WOW -What's Happening at Apple ?

    I am running iTunes 6.0.4.2. Since I upgraded I have not been able to purchase the music in my shopping cart, currently valued at about $200.00
    My shopping cart displays properly, and when I click on the “Buy Now” button I get the normal purchase dialog. My account name is displayed correctly. After I enter my password I receivethe following message --
    “Purchasing Shopping Cart”
    Unfortunately, the buy attempt fails, and it fails repeatedly. Over the past two days I have tried over 20 times to purchase music from the Music Store, and in every case the result is failure.
    The error messsages follow a pattern
    ERROR MESSAGE ON FIRST ATTEMPT
    “Your account is temporarily unavailable.
    The store is unable to access your account information. You may continue to browse the store. Please try again in a few minutes.”
    ERROR MESSAGE ON SECOND ATTEMPT
    “Could not purchase the items in your cart.
    The store is temporarily unavailable. (5555)
    There was an error in the Music Store.
    Please try again later.”
    ERROR MESSAGE ON THIRD ATTEMPT
    “Could not purchase the items in your cart.
    An unknown error occurred. (-50)
    There was an error in the Music Store.
    Please try again later.”
    After these errors the system simply fails to provide any error messages at all.
    My music downloads never start.
    These errors seem to be permanent. Over the course of all last evening, early this morning, and now late this afternoon, I have received the same set of error messages over 20 times.
    Seems like Apple's iTunes is not producing much revenue.
    How about a fix ASAP ?
    This is CLEARLY Apple's problem, NOT Mine, as evidenced in these iTunes generated error messages.

    LATE BREAKING NEWS -- I now only receive the first error message, after which the Music Store just sits there unresponsively, producing no messages at all.
    I guess Apple did not like the 2nd and 3rd messages. They clearly indicate that Apple is at fault here. From the number of postings, I guess that it pretty clear to all of us.

    It's interesting. There's clearly something wrong with the Music Store, but everyone seems to be having different problems. All lead to not being able to connect or stay connected. I can't connect. I don't even get the luxury of starting something in the store and getting an error message. It just sits there reading "Accessing Music Store." And it never accesses. And if I leave my computer on and let iTunes run, it will continue to say "Accessing Music Store." I can even close out iTunes and reopen it and it will continue to say "Accessing Music Store." It gets stuck. It's doing it right now. The only way I can get it to stop is by shutting down my computer. That's right. Even if I disconnect my LAN line, it will continue to read...well, you get the point now, I'm sure.
    I am glad to find out that it's not just a problem with my computer. My computer's not the best, so I was convinced that it was just my computer. But I just happened to take a look at the forum. Well, it looks like we're just going to have to wait for Apple to do something about it.

    Two likely causes:
    1.  Have you changed countries somewhere in the process?  The iTunes credit is only valid in the country it was issued.
    2.  Are you purchasing something like a gift for someone else?  You cannot use Store Credit to make certain purchases.
    If it's neither of these, make sure that money is in fact in your account (you would be able to see it in the iTunes Store page of iTunes on your computer if signed in with your Apple ID).

  • Forced to update to 7.5 to buy music?

    Admittedly, I am running old software - 10.2.8 and iTunes 4.7.1 - but they've served me well until now. When I try to buy a song, I get a screen that sings the virtues of iTunes 7.2 and a link to download it. It actually takes me to iTunes 7.5 - problem is, my OS X is too old for this update. I cannot buy music now.
    Any workarounds out there?

    You need at least iTunes 6.0.5 to buy anything from the iTunes Store. No guarantees that even 6.0.5 will work, or work for much longer, but as of the last I heard it still worked for audio as long as you don't want iTunes Plus tracks or any videos or movies. 6.0.5 can still be downloaded here:

    First off, the name of your computer is only the way it is becuase the Apple user is the first one they created after repairing the Mac. Go into Sharing System Preferences and change the name to whatever you like.
    Can you explain how you did this:
    This didn't seem right so I went in to it and changed the computer so that it would recognise me as the Owner/Administrator.
    You can delete the Apple user in Users & Groups System Prefs. Select that user and delete it. It will ask if you want to save the user data or delete it. If you archive it, you can always delete it later and it will be available if you need to recover that account for some reason--I doubt this will be necessary. After deleting the account, and when you feel you are still working normally, you could delete that archived user folder.
    I have also never seen anything ask for that. It does sound like an Epson thing, but without having access to it, I couldn't tell you for sure.
    Here's what I would try. Create a new User and give them admin rights. Log in as that user and see what happens with the installer. If it still complains, it is an Epson issue. My guess is it is looking for user id 501, the first user created. If it works, then something is indeed odd about your account. If so, use that new admin account to disable Admin privileges for your account, then re-enable it. This is done in the Users & Groups system prefs.

    I am a customer from Peru and i can see that everyone in the world can buy music directly from his/her apple store in his/her country (USA, Spain,Canada, etc) but i cannot do it at the eperuvian store. I can buy hundreds of another apps but not any a single song, and this is just frustrating because i can change to another store buyt i cannot buy music!
    I have gone to the local distributors but none seems to know the answer and it seems it is a big mistery when will this happen...
    As a customer i cannot get the whole experience of apple and i am very desappointed.
    Whay can´t we buy music yet? I would appreciate and answer because i would like to continue buying another of your products but this matter really is annoying to me.

    That is not correct.  iTunes operates about 120 country-specific stores.  Many of the iTunes Stores do not sell music.  Many countries do not have an iTunes Store at all.
    I know it is frustrating.  We do not know when it will come to Peru, as Apple does not announce its plans for future sales.  However, you can buy MP3s from any online music retailer that operates in Peru, and add them to your iTunes library.

    Since the beginning of June I cannot buy music from Apple. My iTunes works perfectly in all respects except one -- I can't purchase anything.
    The diagnostic indicates an "unknowe error" in the the Music Store. Everything else on my PS=C works fine, including all three Internet browsers -- FoxFire, Internet Explorer, and Opera.
    Emails to iTunes remain unanswered. Their promise to answer eMails within 24 hours is a lie.

    i have the same exact problem. music store works. itunes works like a charm otherwise but i can't buy music because it says my shopping cart and i must delete or buy items, but when i try to access my shopping cart it just won't open....i don't even get an error message it just "thinks" for abit and then stops with the shopping bag completely unloaded

    Below is the advice you forwarded:
    I found a solution to my problem.
    > start menu
    > accessories,
    > right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator".
    Once it opens, type in the following command...
    netsh winsock reset
    hit enter
    You should get a message that the winsock reset successful and you will need to reboot your computer.
    Reboot and when I reloaded itunes the store loaded fine.
