Cannot calibrate displays
Hi,
this has happened recently, perhaps since updating to 10.4.9:
The MBP display is super-flat and washed out (no contrast - black is grey...) and I can no longer calibrate either the MBP or external display. When I hit the calibrate button I get the message:
"Can not calibrate the display.
The factory profile for the display could not be found."
I seached help and got a hit on an identical problem with iBooks running 10.3.1 but the solution was to upgrade to 10.3.2... (Obviously, not really much help to me.)
I have checked and all of the profiles seem to be there, and the calibration assistant is telling me that it can find no problems either.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance

Hello all,
I'm sorry if this is a known and solved issue but I'm really frustrated about it.
I have bought a brand new ipod Classic 80GB. My system is running Windows XP SP2 (up to date) and iTunes 7.5.0.20. I have an NTFS Hard Drive (2 Partitions, C and D) and a FAT32 Hard Drive (1 Partition, E).
Every time I try to sync my ipod through iTunes with a video or photo I get the following error message: "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod IPOD_NAME because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
What is this? I have followed the photo (and video) sync procedure to the letter. On my laptop (also Win XP SP2), iTunes works just fine! So there's nothing wrong with my photos/videos.
I looked around the Internet and found there's a similar issue in Windows Vista with RAID and/or NTFS. I do NOT have RAID or Vista.
It there a known bug also in Windows XP? Is there a fix expected?
I tried moving my photos on a USB FAT32 Stick but still I was unable to sync them with my ipod.
Any help or information will be much appreciated.Near as I can tell, iTunes DOES NOT like a JPEG with an embedded color profile. I too have been seeing a simliar issue and did some troubleshooting last night to arrive at this conclusion.
Pictures exported from Adobe Lightroom would sync to my iPod Touch via iTunes without any issue. However, Pictures saved from Adobe Photoshop would fail with the error "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
This set me to looking at the differences in the JPEGS that Lightroom was creating vs. the ones that Photoshop was creating. I finally arrived on the inclusion of the color profile.
Pictures exported from Lightroom, while converted to the sRGB color space, did not include the profile in the image and sync via iTunes just fine. Photoshop, on the other hand, automatically includes the profile when saving as a JPEG and these pictures WILL NOT sync via iTunes. Even if you tell Photoshop to not include a color profile, it includes a piece of metadata that says the profile is not specified (which is distinctly different from Lightroom which omits the metadata entirely.)
Choosing File|Save for Web... (as opposed to File|Save As...) in Photoshop does not include any color profile (just like exporting from Lightroom) and syncs via iTunes just fine.
I'm very curious to know if the images that you (and others) are having problems sync have, for some reason, a color profile embedded in them. In Windows Explorer, you can right-click on a picture, choose Properties, select the Details tab and look for the Color representation property. My assumption is if it is blank, the picture will sync fine, but if it is anything else it will not sync.
It'd be great to get confirmation from Apple if this is indeed an issue - that JPEGs with embedded color profiles are not sync'd with iTunes. I'm going to do a few more tests today and see, if by chance, including a Mac color space on the image enables it to sync or not. -
Hi,
We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings
cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" error. However users on the new 2010 can set OOF if they use OWA or Outlook 2003!
Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of
/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml">https://<servername>/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml into IE gives a XML file with a 600 error code.
I have looked at loads of 'solutions' on the Internet but cannot get this working, anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you,

Hi,
This is my first post in the forums. Please forgive me if it's in the wrong category or if it's not posted correctly in any way.
I'll try and give you below as much information about the problem we have here as I can.
What we have:
- an on-premises Windows 2012 Standard server that is the PDC, DNS and DHCP server;
- a second Windows 2012 Standard server with the sole purpose of hosting our Exchange 2013 CU7 server;
- Windows 7 PCs with Office Home and Business 2010 v.14.0.7143.5000 (32-bit);
- Outlook 2010 connects through Outlook Anywhere (mail.ourdomain.com).
The problem:
If trying to set up Out of Office through Outlook on the client PCs, we'd get an error message: 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.' Interestingly, it does work normally for some users.
It works fine for all users if done through OWA.
Tests performed:
User 1 on PC1 has the problem. User 2 on PC2 doesn't have the problem. Both users are members of the same security groups.
- setting up User 2 on PC 1: the problem exists;
- setting up User 1 on PC 2: the problem exists;
- setting up a second Outlook profile on PC2 within User 2's domain account (the one that works), for the same User 2: the problem still exists!
I haven't been able to set up an Outlook account that works since this issue was discovered, although there are existing Outlook accounts that do not have the issue.
Let me also point out we have another issue we are working on and which may or may not be related: the Autodiscover function in Outlook doesn't work. Test E-mail AutoConfiguration results in 'Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings!'.
I can see postings in the Internet of other people having the same problem with OoO, but couldn't see a solution that fits my case: some existing accounts in Outlook are fine, other are not and newly created profiles of aforementioned working accounts do not
work. The majority of the articles/threads I read suggest recreating the Virtual Directories in Exchange, but we did that just a month ago (when troubleshooting the Autodiscover problem) and besides if the problem is in the Virtual Directories, I would expect
it to affect all accounts.
Any help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need other details.
Apologies if the posting is not in the right place or not done properly - I'm still learning. The IIS log files on the CAS might tell you something. Depending on how your proxy server handles NAT the IP address of your connection might be from the proxy server instead of your client.
In any case, a tool like Fiddler (http://www.telerik.com/fiddler) can be extremely helpful in working on problems like this because it can decode the SSL traffic on the client and you can see what's being sent
and what's being received.
Another thing to check (although it's unlikely to be your case) is whether or not your browser (when you try connecting to the autodiscover URL) thinks it's in the "Internet" zone. the "Local intranet", or at a "Trusted" site.
The domain names you use on machines on your LAN should be excluded from being proxyed. Anything with "." in the name will be set, unless excluded, to the proxy server.
Is the time correct on the client machine? Is it more than 5 minutes different to the Exchange machines and domain controllers? That'd be something that would cause Kerberos to fail.
A certificate can be a problem if its expired or if it doesn't have the correct names. But I wouldn't worry about the uglog.com domain just yet. Until you get the Autodiscover working with the SCP you have bigger problems.
If you've never used a WPAD file then don't worry about it. It's very useful if you have a complex network and you want to manage how browsers connect to servers. For example, if you have multiple proxy servers the each manage a different set of names, an/or
if some names should bypass proxy servers entirely and just connect directly. If run a strictly Microsoft network with only Microsoft product that you can manage with GPOs (and you can enforce those GPOs on every machine -- even the BYOD ones) you probably
don't need a WPAD.

When i open my SQL reporting URL it says this page cannot be displayed
Hi All,
I am using SQL Server 2008 with SP3. When i open my open my reporting manager URL. i get the error as "This page cannot be displayed" HTTP Error 500 internal server error. I read few blogs posted below. Tried both but could not help me out
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1a03196f-f8ee-4a66-b08b-b2e02447a25e/can-not-open-page-for-report-manager-url-httplocalhost8080reports-for-sql-server-2008?forum=sqlreportingservices
and
http://ashwaniashwin.wordpress.com/2014/02/28/the-url-has-already-been-reserved-error-while-configuring-the-report-server-url-in-reporting-services-configuration-manager/
But none of them helped.
I tried deleting the reserved URL and re reserved but still did not help.
Tried changing the port number but still no luck.
I analysed the sql reporting error log and found the below.

"XML page cannot be displayed" error
Using XML output on a table with more than a few rows falls over with a "XML page cannot be displayed" error. Sometimes only the error is displayed, sometimes some rows are displayed with this error at the end of the page (eg the DEMO_STATES table)
Can anyone advise if there is some sort of limiter at work here?
Thanks,
Barryi'm pretty sure that error comes up when your browser (ie, specifically, i believe) can't render the xml data it's received. i'm also pretty sure, as the full message implies, it's because it doesn't know what style sheet to use when you go to that page. in short, it's a browser config issue. one way to bypass it (to at least prove that it's a browser issue) would be to create a link to your page, right click the link, and do a "Save Target As...". the resulting file will be your valid XML one. fwiw, i've had better luck controlling the manner in which my xml data is received when i use mozilla or netscape (but i'd imagine there's just some setting you'd toggle in IE to avoid your issue).
hope this helps,

XML Page cannot be displayed An invlaid character
While testing a report, I have noticed two issues and I believe this is the correct forum for the subject.
A report is completing successfully with a completion status of Normal in the concurrent manager. The report has data. However upon inspection of the XML of the request (Diagnostics -- View XML) the following error message appears
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'http://sinudy07.devtst.go2uti.com:4110/OA_CGI/FN...
<ITEM_DESCRIPTION>Office supplies
Upon inspection of the data, it appears that the offending character is an ACSII 150.
Can you provide a solution by which alphanumeric data is properly handled in XML? Is this an encoding issue?
Why does XML Publisher exit successfully when it has an error? When this error is detected, I am assuming that the report is incomplete, but to the end user it looks complete.
Many thanks for your suggestions and advice.
TomIs the error message displayed in Firefox or in IE, or in a customized window that doesn't identify the browser?

It's possible that the Troubleshooter doesn't work correctly unless IE is your default browser. You could test that possibility by having IE make itself the default and testing the Troubleshooter again.
''If it displays in IE or embedded in another Microsoft application:''
In a web search I found these suggestions:
(1) Reset your Internet Explorer settings, according to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_7/cannot-view-xml-using-xsl-style-sheet/ccfe80c6-c0db-4594-a7e3-475f9eac0e85

XML Page cannot be displayed error on interactive reports
Hi, I am having trouble with a user downloading an interactive report as a CSV output. When a user tries to download the interactive report (as it is displayed when the web page loads, no alterations), they are getting this error:
The XML Page cannot be displayed.
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the refresh button, or try again later.
A name was started with an invalid character. Error processing resource 'http.............'.
This is only happening with a small group of users which doesn't include me, so it has been very hard to troubleshoot. I can download the report and open in Excel without any problems.
I am using Apex version 3.2 and IE 8. The user did not have multiple windows or tabs open logged into ApEx at the same time.
Has anyone ever had this problem before? I could not find a thread with the same issue.

Hi All,
I have a report which take 4 hrs time to execute the report
If i run this 4 hrs report, the report runs sucessfully when we see in particular
report server in application server.
But, we wont get any pop up to open report after executing sucessfully
at user end, A error message is displayed in only report param page like,
"The page cannot be displayed"
I Think only param page is expired but not form session.
We have also set the parameters like in report/conf/repsername.conf
engineResponseTimeout=30 and <connection maxConnect="200" idleTimeOut="300">
Also,In httpd.conf timeout is 3600 and MaxBlockTimeout in web.xml file
we have set "maxBlockTime" for long running report (4h)
<init-param>
<param-name>maxBlockTime</param-name>
<param-value>12600000</param-value>
</init-param>
Please help me out to solve this issue.

When I configure the Outlook profile manually then receive warning "Your Automatic Reply Settings Cannot Be Displayed Because The Server Is Unavailable" when clicking "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)".
However if I use Autodiscover to configure the Outlook profile the above does not occur and "Automatic Replies (Out of Office)" works fine.
Client: Outlook 2013 Click-to-Run version 15.0.4551.1011 on Windows 7 Pro SP1.
Server: Exchange 2007 SP3 on Windows SBS 2008 SP2.Hi,
First of all, please make sure you have installed this Outlook 2013 hotfix package (December 10, 2013):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2825652/en-us
It may fix the issue.
If the hotfix doesn't help, please note, this problem can occur after your primary SMTP address changes. The problem occurs because your previous primary SMTP address is cached in the Windows registry under your Outlook profile and this information does
not get refreshed for 24-48 hours after the SMTP address change.
So please make sure you have configured smtp address correctly, or, we can find some workarounds from the link below:

Regards,
Melon Chen

One of our users is having problems setting replies from Outlook on his local PC. This is an SBS 2008 Server with Exchange 2007. The client PC is running Windows 8 with Outlook 2013. This issue doesn't seem to affect other users but this
is the only client with Outlook 2013.
When trying to set an automatic reply from within Outlook 2013 we get the "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable". Outlook seems to be connecting and working fine so connection to the server does
exist.
Trying this same operation from owa works without issue. Please let me know what we need to do to find a solution.
Thanks so much!Problem:
IMAP downloads inbox don't work after November patches.
If you install a fresh OS and O2K13 unpatched ,the IMAP works fine.
Fully patched O2K10 works fine too.
It worked for my customer until November patch Tuesday broke the IMAP sync.
Consultant opened case.
Response from Microsoft:
This is with regards to the issue faced by you due to regression caused by November security update. This is further to inform you
that fix is out and below is the download links for 32 bit and 64 bit of the office suites. You need to apply all 3 hotfix. The crash issue and IMAP issue would get resolved
immediately while the issue related to Free / Busy and OOF not getting set would take 24-36 hours to start working once the patch is
applied.

Consider the following scenario:
You have a SharePoint Server environment that has complex workflows.
You implement the ReceiveTimeOut registry entry to increase the global timeout to 90 seconds.
You click Open this task button to open a workflow task in Outlook 2013.
In this scenario, when you click any approval option from the popup dialog box, you receive the following error message:

Consider the following scenario:
Assume that User A is located on an on-premises Exchange Server, and User B is located on Cloud.
Both the on-premises Exchange Server and the Cloud enables the Federation Trust.
User A share his own calendar to User B with Full Details permission, and send the sharing invitation to User B.
User B opens the sharing invitation from User A, click Open this Calendar, Outlook browses to the Calendar module and opens
the shared calendar.
In this scenario, the shared calendar does not show any content.
Consider the following scenario:
You install Outlook 2013 on Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 with Terminal Server Role installed.

Issues that this hotfix package fixes
Assume that you have a recurring appointment that does not have a subject. You make some changes to one instance of the appointment and then save the instance. When you
try to open or delete the instance, Outlook may crash. Additionally, when you drag-and-drop one instance of the appointment to a different
time in the calendar, Outlook may crash.
When you reply or forward an email message by using inline replies, you cannot use the Close and Delete method of Outlook Visual Basic for Application. Additionally, you
receive the following error message:
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)': This method can't be used with an inline response mail

Consider the following scenario:
Assume that User A has a mailbox that is located on an on-premises Exchange Server, and User B has a mailbox that is located
on Cloud.
Both the on-premises Exchange Server and the Cloud enable the federation trust.
User A share his own calendar to User B with Full Details permission, and send the sharing invitation to User B.

You publish the AdminSecurityMode
registry entry and set to a value of 1.
You configure Outlook 2013 to use cached mode.
In this scenario, when Outlook 2013 connects to Exchange Server, Outlook crashes.
Consider the following scenario:
You have two Active Directory forests (Forest A and Forest B).
User A and User B have their mailboxes that are located on Forest A.
User A share his own calendar with User B with Full Details permission.
User B add the shared calendar and let it sync.
You move User B’s mailbox to Forest B.
In this scenario, the shared data in the shared calendar is removed every second time that User A restarts Outlook. And it is re-synced
when User A browses to the Calendar module.
Unfortunately TechNet isn't coming back, sorry folks :-(
The 3 patches above immediately fixed the issue for me!
Thanks so much!
