Cannot capture video frm PD170 - now says Audio Capture Only Selected??

So I now can't capture video?? It says before you attempt to do so that it's Audio Capture Only Selecteed / Video Preview Disabled.
And I have been thru everything to figure how to unselect this option - and cant find anything??

I have the Device Control and Capture presets set to PAL. Is there any other PAL settings I need to set at this stage?
The 25fps vs. 24fps was confusing me as well. I was told that was the camera that was used, and set to 24fps, and when I step through the tape frame by frame, it appears that it is 24fps. Does that make any sense? Perhaps this is another thing to complicate the whole situation. I've tried multiple variants of capture presets. PAL, NTSC, 24fps, 29, 25, all giving me the same "Preview disabled."
Any ideas?

Can capture video...but no audio

sorry if this is a repeat question...new to iMac and Final Cut Express 4. I am trying to capture a video that was recorded with audio. Connected DV camcorder to iMac via firewire - no problem. capture video - no problem. audio? no audio. have looked through the manual - can't seem to find the answer anywhere. is a mid year (07) iMac - aluminum.

the problem has been solved...although i am not sure how. we were expecting to hear the audio AS it was capturing...and the other day when we tried it, we didn't have audio when we played back what we had captured. tonight, unfortunately, we didn't ever actually try playing back...until now so, i'm not sure at what point in our troubleshooting we actually corrected the problem - but it's corrected....thanks for your help!

Captured video not in sync with audio

I capture video and audio from a Sony Beta SX A-75 using the SDI output through Blackmajc card into dual 2.5. We are using DV compression. The audio is out of sync after capture. It is 3 frames off. If I slide the video 3 frames to the right on the timeline , then it looks ok.
Capture/Input Blackmagic NTSC-DV
Device Control Blackmajic NTSC 29.97 Hz
Anyone know what's going on?

Either the sample rate of the audio is off, or, as I suspect, some decks/cameras have to be given an off-set in FCP. Don't remember off hand where that setting is. You may want to check with Blackmagic (Decklink) support about it.

Capturing video with DV camcorder says "Capture Device Offline"

Just trying to capture video already recorded on my camcorder. The firewire is setup correctly and the options are all right, but the capture window still says "Capture Device Offline".
Somebody help me?!?!?!

My "workspace" selection is "editing". I wish to edit (create template titles, splice, add transitions, and chapters) to the captured video. However, I am unable find out how. Adobe help doesnt provide much info which suprises me.
I am just looking for some basic commands/instructions. Nothing fancy. Can anyone steer my in the right direction or provide some basic simple instructions that even an eight year old could follow?

You've skipped a step here. First one should get an education in video production. Once you have the fundamental education under your belt, then you put that education into practice.
The Help file is for those who already know the basics of video production and editing, and just need some guidance in using this specific program. It's not intended to be a general education in video editing.

Sorry about that. I thought this was the forum. I find site is terrribly difficult navigate through, the videos all but useless unless you're an adobe engineer. Do you have a link for the Creative Suite 5 forum? Thank you.

Cannot open videos in Facebook etc says need latest version of Flash when my computer says I have 10.0.32.18 installed but it doesn't show up on Add/Delete programs

I am not technically sophisticated and have been reading other post about people having problems with what appears to some problem with Flash Player. I have checked my computer and it tells me that I have version 10,0,32,18. In tools it shows in "Manage Ad Ons" that I have "Shockwave Flash Object" version 10.0.38.18under the catgory "all ad ons" but not in the catgory "currently installed ad ons." I have no tired to unistalled anything since I don't show any flash player installed. Yet when I go to a video it says I need the current edition of Flash Player which when I try to install freezes up. I have IE8 with all Windows updates.

When using downloadhelper add-on to capture videos I nearly always lose audio

using the add-on downloadhelper, I lose audio in vids when I replay in VLC flash player

I have the exact same issue... I've been using a Jabra Extreme2 and just this weekend, bought a Plantronics Marque2 and today had the same issue, so it's clearly not the headset but the phone or OS.
I might try a restore and see if it helps...

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about yourwith the Video not working correctly or green. Try clicking on the green screen, in the tab named Local Storage and put 10 KB and the green screen should disappear. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating as the graphic driver could need updating. Have you tried another browser? Multitrack Audio Capture question ...Not DV related :)

I am wanting to use FCP 5 to capture multitrack audio from a firewire interface such as the MOTU 828mkII while capturing video from my Kona LS at the same time.
the FCP 5 page says, "Multichannel audio lets you capture and output up to 24 channels of high-resolution 24-bit, 96kHz audio in a single pass."
I'm not sure if that means that you can capture up to 24 channels while you are capturing video or if the multitrack audio capture requires timecode syncing and capturing audio and video separately. The reason I'm trying to do this is that I want to capture the video and multi track audio live rather than recording to a deck with timecode and syncing it up later. I know this isn't the typical way to do it and that FCP capture is a less reliable way to record than a VTR. I'm aware of my Kona card's multiple audio channels, but I am specifically interested in a multi track audio interface (such as MOTU 828mkII).
I've searched the forums and internet for weeks and I can't find anyone who has suggested that this work. Will a 828mkII just show up as another audio capture device in FCP that will record more than 2 channels during video/audio capture?

Hi gevus, I know this is somewhat late and if you haven't already found another solution then I would suggest that you purchase a pci sound card e.g. Soundblaster Live can be had for as little as $35.00 from Newegg.com (a very reliable online store with free shipping most of the time). I capture video with my 9600 aiw pro and use a sb live...my mb also came with an onboard sound processor (nforce2) however, I still prefere the flexability of the Live card...plus dispite reviews on this nforce2 onboard sound as being as good as Live I disagree I listen to (and watch) alot of movies on my computer and have a pair of BOSE headphones. I cound definetely notice a difference in sound quality. I dont know your video needs but the Audigy card by Creative Labs is even better if you need or want real good quality reproduction however, remember that the audio sorce is the real key to good sound.

I have the FCPX installed and want to background capture video without listening to the audio. There was a small preview checkbox with the audio meteres in FCP 7. Is there a similar option in FCPX?

Yea, that certainly works, but it doesn't let me do anything else that requires listening to audio.

Its simple. DONT cough or sneeze when you are capturing video.
The notebook which you have has a digital dual-microphone array which features beam-forming, echo-cancellation, and noise-suppression software support.
Also Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, uninstall IDT Audio drivers , restart the computer and install updated drivers from here and see if that helps.

Audio Capture only happens if its more than 5 seconds

I'm writing a midlet that does audio capture on the LG CU500 phone. When I capture for 5 seconds or more, audio capture works as intended, however if I only record for under 5 seconds, it doesn't work. There is no timer. Would could be causing the problem?

Here is a snippet of the code that i'm using. When playing back, if I record say 10 seconds, I only hear about 7 seconds of the recording. About 3 seconds are cut off at the end. If I record for say less than 4 seconds, nothing seems to be recorded, nothing plays back.

No sound while capturing video

how do i get audio (sound) while capturing video. I know about audio scrubbing and canvas playback for editing but while capturing video I am not getting sound.

During capturing, sound will not play through your computer's speakers. Many cameras will play it through their internal speakers or you can connect external speakers directly to your camera
