Cannot capture Video on PE9

I am not a rookie at this I had premier 6.0 for years with DV 500 and the blue box.  Great system.   My coputer after 10 years finally went out.  None of my old stuff works on my brand new PC.   I bought PE9 - not sure if i made the correct move.  I have a JVC mini DV - bought a gigawar inbox for the s cable and audio - PE9 does not pic it up.  I can caputre video on Gigaware's program  and transfer it to PE9 the quality is aweful.  I need to capture it directly to PE9 just like i did in premier 6.0 - I seen one thread on using a firewire but my new desktop computer does not have a fire wire slot.  I have a new still canon camera that will take a little video - did some - pulled the card out put it in my sytem - PE9 picked it up but said the format was not okay for PE9 any suggestions on how to capture?

  • Cannot capture video

I have successfully captured video from two mini dv tapes. I then, in the same project I tried to capture video from a DVD using a Panasonic DVD recorder using an ADVC 100 converter. When I started the capture it would not show video in the capture window even though it says vtr ok. The Easy Setup is set to DV-NTSC. I know you cannot change the Easy Setup during a project but I did anyway to DV - NTSC Converter and the vtr ok changed to no communication. So, I changed Easy Setup back to DV-NTSC.
Anything I am doing wrong in trying to capture the video on the DVD?

You will have to use the DV Converter option and start the DVD player manually.
No communication means there's no device control as in DV capture.

  • Cannot capture video frm PD170 - now says Audio Capture Only Selected??

So I now can't capture video?? It says before you attempt to do so that it's Audio Capture Only Selecteed / Video Preview Disabled.
And I have been thru everything to figure how to unselect this option - and cant find anything??
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks!!

    Thanks for your replies.
I have the Device Control and Capture presets set to PAL. Is there any other PAL settings I need to set at this stage?
The 25fps vs. 24fps was confusing me as well. I was told that was the camera that was used, and set to 24fps, and when I step through the tape frame by frame, it appears that it is 24fps. Does that make any sense? Perhaps this is another thing to complicate the whole situation. I've tried multiple variants of capture presets. PAL, NTSC, 24fps, 29, 25, all giving me the same "Preview disabled."
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

  • Cannot capture video into FCP5

I am trying to import video shot over the weekend into FCP5. Every time I try it get File Error: Unkown File error. Any ideas why this happening?
The camera reads the tape fine. The Log and Capture window works fine, the image shows up, plays, all buttons work. When I attempt to batch capture it tells me how much space I will need, then a window pops up with "Additional Items Found in which I have tried both Add and Continue. Then the Insert Reel window comes up with the tape number, time, 1 clip and Ready. I click continue it goes to the Batch Capture -PREPARING FOR CAPTURE then Creating files and next it immediately goes to Insert Reel window again with ERROR showing behind the 1 clip and File Error: Unkown File. at the bottom. The Show Details button is grayed out.
Clicking capture now in the Log and Capture window immediately gives me the File Error: Unkown File. message.
Capture clip, after I added the original in and out times in the Log and Capture window, goes to the Log Clip window so I can name it, then to the Batch Capture -PREPARING FOR CAPTURE then Creating files and next it immediately goes to File Error: Unkown File. error window.
I have tried two identical camera, one if which I originally captured it with and both had the same result. I was able to capture last week. Only thing I may have updated is iTunes 9.0.1.
I have tried importing via FW400 and I have tried going through a FW800 case that has a FW400 input, then directly into FW800. Nothing worked.
Have FCP 5.1 and all the latest updates.
    Thanks

I had deleted the prefs, but the problem was still occurring.
I used FCP Rescue 5 to delete the "settings" and when it restarted I set only my internal HD as the scratch disk (previously I had the capture spread between 8 disks). It works.

  • Can't capture video using iSight camera in QuickTime 7.4 (92)

OK, I see that there are plenty of "bugs" with Quicktime Version 7.4 (92), but I don't see the problem I am having, posted anywhere. Here goes...
I cannot capture video using my [Firewire] iSight camera on my CoreDuo MacMini. I definitely used to be able to do this. When I go to File>New Movie Recording, I get a back/blank Movie Recording window and that's it. I click on the Red/Record button and nothing happens. The timer doesn't even advance. Just sits there. When I try to stop the recording, I get the following message:
*"Recording failed because no data was received.*
*Make sure that the media input source is turned on and playing."*
I can still capture audio, although had some problems and had to "downgrade" to version 7.3.x and subsequently reinstalled 7.4. Now the audio works but still no video.
    A few things:
    1. YES, the iSight camera works - I can use it in iMovie, iChat, Photobooth, etc. - for both video and audio.
    2. As I mentioned, I tried "downgrading" (using "Pacifist") but still no video.
    3. I re-installed Version 7.4 and the audio problems cleared up, but again, still unable to capture video.
    3. All software updates installed.
    Any ideas???
    Thanks!

"As I mentioned, I tried "downgrading" (using "Pacifist") but still no video."
See QuickTimeKirk’s posting in the following thread:

    Try the following:
    Trash com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
    It's located in your account:
    HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
Delete the file, restart (a new .plist will be created) and quicktime hopefully will work again w/o doing an Archive & Install.
+If you want to do an A&I:+
Do an archive and install of your OS from the OS disc. Stop at the QT upgrade you need.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301270 Scroll down to "Archive and Install”
IMPORTANT: Maker sure you select "preserve user preferences and data" when you performed the A&I?
    Good luck!

  • Cannot capture in Adobe Premiere CS5 via Canopus 110

I captured some video from an old tape deck with an RCA cable to the Canopus 110 yesterday, but today I cannot capture video from the DVD player.  I disconnected the RCA connection from from the Canopus, connected the S-Video cable from the DVD player and now the record button on the capture window stays dimmed.
I've updated drivers on IEEE 1394 connection.
I've connected the Canopus to other IEEE connections ports.
I've checked and swapped ALL cables three times each.
Connected a Canopus 55 to each port.
Tried changing user to administator and went through the other 14 or so list of things to try.
And, I think I've restarted my computer 14 times thoughout all of this.
    Now
    at
    wits
    end...

DVD players often add a copy protection flag to the video output - even if it's your very own DVD-R that you made. Not fair, I know, but that could be the issue. To test, simply connect the VHS deck again. Does it work? Yes? Then connect DVD, quits working, there's the issue.
Actually, you don't need to "capture" from DVD. One option is to simply copy the ".vob" files from the disc to your hard drive, then you can import them right into Premiere and edit them! Not sure when that feature was added, definitely works in my CS6. Try it.
Another option is to use software to convert the DVD into video clips which can also then be edited in Premiere. For instance, MPEG Streamclip which is free, can convert DVD to QuickTime .mov for editing. Might need to experiment with the settings, haven't used it in a few years myself. There are many other softwares, paid and free, to do similar.
    Thanks

  • I cannot get CS6 to recognize my Sony DCR-TRV340 camera for capturing video from that camera.  CS6 c

I cannot get CS6 to recognize my Sony DCR-TRV340 camera for capturing video from that camera.  The CS6 capture box keeps putting up a message that capture device is off line.  The Sony DCR-TRV340 camera is not listed in the CS6 Device Type  list in the CS6 DV/HDV device control settings box of Sony cameras.  I've downloaded what I think are the correct drivers for the TRV340, and when I plug the camera into the computer, the computer shows it listed in the devices and printers box, but CS6 will not recognize it.  Do I need to install these drivers into a specific folder in the CS6 program?  If so, where do I find these drivers in the windows 7 professional operating system, and into which CS6 file folder would I copy them to?

Most camera's are not listed in Device controle, set it to Sony and generic. Yours is very old its a Digital 8 camera (I still got a TRV210). Johns second link wont work with your camera.
You do not need to download drivers nor do you need to install anything. Most likely its the Legacy driver.
    Read though this document.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/828/cpsid_82848.html
General rule is connect camera to pc wait until windows reconigzes the camera.
    Fire up Premiere and capture.
Never connect the camera to pc when the camera is on.

    dual 2.3 g5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   3.5 gb ram
Havent done any real work as of late so havent been keeping up with things around here. Forgive me if im missing the obvious. Fired up FCP 5.0.4 to capture a home vid with my cannon zr100 dv cam an i get no preview in the log and capture. Says vtr is ok but cannot capture because there is no video. Tried trashing the quicktime reciepts and rebooting to no avail. Everything appears to be set up ok. (DV NTSC). Am i missing something obvious? Or is this a new issue? Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot capture sound or video

I have been able to capture video and sound from an analog camcorder into the front or rear inputs in the past using the bundled software from Cyberlinc.
Now, I cannot input any sound or video. I have also tried Muvee and the Microsoft Movie maker software which is also bundled with HP and it is not working.
HP techs have not been able to help. I have tried both the front and rear inputs, S-Video and composite. Any ideas?

Convert your source clip to DV AVI before importing it into PPro.
    Cheers

  • Unable to capture video from VHS through DAC-200

    (Running Final Cut Pro 5.1.4)
I have a DAC-200 to hook up my VCR to my G5 in order to capture video from VHS tapes into Final Cut. I had this set-up working a few months ago, but it was disconnected to rearrange equipment and now I can't get it working again. I have followed the advice from the DAC-200 installation instructions and advice from other forum topics but can't seem to get it to work. I finally was able to get something in the log and capture window besides "preview disabled" and "cannot capture because there is no video." I now can get Final Cut to capture video, however it only captures a blank black screen (and this is all I can see in the preview window).
I've triple-checked every cable hook-up, the G5 recognizes the converter box, the video tape plays fine to a tv. I've even had our IT-guy here at work come check out my set-up for help and he can't figure out what is wrong either. (He did get my log&capture window to get white fuzz in the black screen at one point though. Does that mean anything?)
Any help is greatly appreciated! (I'm happy to answer any other questions too.) Thanks!

I had difficullty with the X.4.10 plus QT7.2 and put my info on the Forum as well as sending feedback to Apple. Shortly afterwards, Apple brought out a short security update which I downloaded and, hey presto, I was then able to use QT7.2 with OSX.4.10. It may be that you missed out on the later small update to QT7.2..... ? Another factor I found was that some little while later I again had a problem so I again installed QT7.2 and over-installed FCP5.1.4 which has resolved my problems for the time being. Worth a try if you still can't get through on the DAC.

  • Anyone ever use a Canon XH A1 with FCP 5.1.4? I cannot capture at present.

I tried to start a new project with different setting for SD, and all the settings I originally had for my HD project changed, now I cannot capture anymore. It took me a while to configure all the settings for HD with the 2:3:3:3 pulldown, but now I'm just plain confused. Anyone know a solution?

I shot in HD in the 24F mode on a Canon XH A1. I've been capturing fine, but now the camera is not recognized ever since I created a new project with different settings.I created those project settings thinking they would only apply to that project (an SD one), and now I cannot figure out the steps to get back to where I was. This is what I wrote down to for my "In System Settings" that worked:
    Video Quality: Dynamic
    Frame Rate: Full
    Pulldown Pattern: 2:3:3:2
    Frame Offset: 4
    Record (Full Quality).
    Easy Setup - HDV-1080i60
Then I set my compressor for HDV 1080p24.
Now this simply doesn't work and I cannot capture.
Is there a way to revert back to my old settings before I created a different project?
Very confused why I cannot recognize my camera.

  • I have a 2008 black macbook and access UK tv through a purchased proxy site. I want to buy a sony bravia internet connected tv to watch the channels in more comfort. Sony tell me this won't work - that the tv cannot capture my macbook content. Any advice?

I have a 2008 black MacBook and acess UK tv through a puchased proxy. I want to purchase a Sony Bravia internet connected tv and stream the site through a tv - Sony tell me this won't work - that a latest model tv cannot capture content and sites from a MacBook - is this true???? Surely there is a solution? Any help or advice welcome.

They are correct.  The only stream you can wireless connect the TV to a Mac is through an AppleTV, and that's purchased content on iTunes, and your own homemade content that is H.264 MPEG-4 that is 1800kbps.   Conversion of commercial video to that format is illegal, and hence how can not be stated on the forum.    Alternatively, as long as the TV is HDMI, you can wired connect it to your MacBook using the same advice here:

  • Capturing Video from a Camera that only has a USB port

I have read a number of posts from people who have been frustrated because they can not 'capture' video from a video camera that only has a USB port on it.  Unfortunately, Premier wants to see a Firewire connection; otherwise, it won't connect to a camera.   However, it is still very easy to import your video clips from such a camera into Premier Pro:
    1. Turn on your video camera and connect it to your computer via the USB connections.
    2. In Premier, go to the Media Browser.
    3. In the Media Browser, you will see all the drives on your computer. Amongst those drives will be a drive that was created for your camera. (It will be identified as X: (Removable).  Double click on that drive and you will see all your recorded video clips in the column just to the right.
    4. Highlight any/all clips that you want to import. Then, simply drag those clips/files up into your Project Organizer (normally, in the upper left corner of the page)
    That's it.
You'll probably find this method of importing your clips/files off of your camera easier than if you did have a Firewire and utilized the 'Capture' function.

And a bigger problem will be that that camera (with its card or HDD) will have to be connected, whenever one wishes to edit, and it cannot be overwritten to).
As has been mentioned, the Project file does NOT contain any Assets, with the exception of Titles created in PrPro's Titler. This ARTICLE will give a bit more background on what is in the Project file, plus a bit more.
The same sort of problem can arise if one Imports a VOB from a DVD-Video disc, without Copying the VOB's over to the HDD. First, that DVD must be inserted for each editing session, and things will be horribly slow.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Capturing video on MacBook Pro

I have several old VHS-C tapes that I want to upload into my Macbook Pro, where they can be edited.  I have an old VHS camera to play the tapes, but I cannot get it to connect directly to my Macbook pro to upload in iMovie as you normally would when you capture video for a project.  So, I am trying a "work around" of sorts.  I have the video camera connected to my Yamaha receiver that all video inputs are routed through.  The Yamaha receiver has an HDMI out, which is normally hooked to TV.  I connected my Macbook Pro to the Yamaha''s HDMI OUT using an HDMI to Thunderport adaptor.  I figured that I would be able to capture video through Thunderport this way.  So far, no luck.
I know you can connect your MBP to the TV using HDMI as an output from the computer.  Can the HDMI-Thunderport cable also be used as a Video In somehow?
    Thank you for any help!

if you connect Yamaha's hdmi to tv, do you have output from camera?
If you go to iMovie and manually select the import source.... ?
