Cannot chain text blocks together

Does anyone else have this problem! It has me really irritated tonight. Usually when it doesn't work I can copy what I need and create a new document. Paste my text blocks into the new document and than chain them together. After they are properly chained together which seems to work fine in the new document I can copy everything and paste them back into my original document and move on with my life.
Tonight however, when I create a new document the software will still not present the chain to me when I click on the red plus sign and than hover over another text block.
Has anyone else experienced this? And what work arounds have you come up with?

I finally caved and updated to Yosemite. Pages has been my go-to page layout forever. But now I cannot link text blocks??? Is there a work around?

About 100+ features never made it from Pages '09 v4.3 into Pages v5. Facing pages, builtin mail merge, and linked check boxes are just three of the casualties of progress. The work around for missing Text box linking is to use Pages '09, or a non-Apple word processing package that supports that feature.
The iWork '09 DVD applications (with mandatory Apple 9.3 updater) work well on Yosemite. If you purchased and downloaded individual iWork '09 applications from the OS X App Store prior to Oct. 2013, these can move to Yosemite on a USB stick, as they are a different application design to the DVD versions. I have both Pages v5.5.2 and Pages '09 v4.3 on Yosemite 10.10.2.

SMS is exchanged over the same network as calls - no data involved.
MMS requires data.
iMessage requires the same as email - internet access via an available wi-fi network or via your carrier's cellular data network.
You can disable SMS/MMS altogther with your account by requesting this with AT&T. You can turn iMessage off unless your iPhone is connected to an available wi-fi network.

Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5

Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.

Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)

Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.

How do I use page numbering and a text block in a footer in Word with the Report Generation Toolkit?

I am creating a Word document with the Report Generation Toolkit, and LabVIEW 8.2.1. In the report I am using a template that has page numbering enabled in the center. When I try to add a text block to the left side footer, it eliminates the page numbering and adds my text on the left side. I found "Set Report Footer Text" and "Word Set Page Numbering" vi's that may be the clue to this. When I use these two vi's I either get Page 1 of 456789-001 on the left side, or if I reverse the order I get only 456789-001(text) in the left side with nothing in the center. What I would like to achieve is 456789-001(text) on the left footer, and Page 1 of 2 in the center. Is this possible and if it is, then how can I do it?

I have attached a vi where you can see how they can be made to work together. You have to design it such that one follows the other. If you don't design it that way, it results in a race condition and only one of them get executed.

PDF to Word black background in Text blocks

I converted a pdf flyer to Word for editing date and location of an event. Three of the blocks of text that I wasn't going to change looked like they were in text blocks with black backgrounds. I was unable to change the black blocks and had to do a color fill to cover the blocks. It was frustrating and not completely effective. Why did this happen? What is the resolution ? I anticipate converting many such flyers with new dates and times and I do not appreciate this glitch in the conversion process. What is my next step?

Disabling OCR made no difference. Black boxes are still there. Though many of the pieces of the document can be ungrouped, the black boxes cannot - so they remain uneditable.

Cannot edit text in menu page

I cut and pasted from a pdf to a menu page. I want to work with the font to make it more readable, but I can no longer select the text. What did I do wrong? I can't edit in Encore or Photoshop. I can select the layer, but not the text.
I am trying to reproduce the page by duplicating it and adding the text again, but I cannot figure out how I got it there in the first place (to appear as it did in the pdf) It keeps pasting as an oversized text block in one column.
In other words, How do I edit text that has been pasted onto a menu page? Seems it keeps wanting to create another text layer - in Photoshop as well

In the previous print screen, the layer icon has a paintbrush in it. In the new menu page I cut and pasted the text is still 'text' layer. I am not able to format it other than change font color. I want to make it two columns of text like the original pdf, and change the font.

Conditional Build Tags for Text Blocks Applied to Entire File

RoboHelp 8.0.0.203. This post also deals with conditional build tags, but in this case the conditional build tags have been associated with sections of text and text blocks within a topic. The design was implemented originally in RH7 and the project has since been updated with RH8.
For example, you could have three blocks: Purpose, Procedure, Tips, and a Notes block. They are disabled by applying blocks Tag A, Tag B, Tag C, and Tag D respectively. If Tag A is applied to the Purpose, it is cross-hatched in the design window and does not appear upon generation.
The problem is that tags that are seemingly unrelated to blocks, such as Tag C and Tag D, are spontaneously applied to those blocks -- by the software. In fact, they would be spontaneously applied to all of the blocks and text in a some of the files (for no apparent reason), cross-hatching every element and every block of text in the file. When we unapply the tag and store the file, when we re-open the file, the tag is mysteriously re-applied to all the blocks -- again by the software.
Has anyone seen this type of problem in RH8?

The <?rh-cbt_start condition="UnselectedBanner"?> indicates that the section is de-selected.
Note, that the "<?rh-cbt_end ?><?rh-udv_end ?>" are in opposite order in the example (but that's how it appears in the file).
In the cases where this problme occurs, we the html riddled with "Tag D" and "Tag C" condition tags for all the elements.

It will also be helpful if everyone that encounters the issue reports as a bug. It's like a voting system. The more reports of bugs that are seen, the more weight is given to the priority. This directly translates to the fix being posted sooner rather than later.
So even though the bug has been "reported", you and others should take a moment and report as well!

Zapfdingbats has taken over my text blocks!

Strange problem and it may be that I am working with an older document from a couple of years ago. When I start a new (empty) text block it ALWAYS is zapfdingbats and I cannot change it to another font except manually going to the font submenu and choosing another one. What I mean is that I cannot click on a character or paragraph style and have it change (as would usually happen). I have tried all the tricks I know, removing styles, etc. and makes no difference.
Is this just a document quirk or is there something I can do to change this behavior?

First thing to do is to set the default font to something else. With no text selected, reset the font and new text ought to use that. Also look at the definitions for Basic Paragraph and for Basic Text Frame, and make sure that with nothing selected "none" is active in the character styles panel.
If that doesn't work, and it probably won't if you can't successfull apply a style (have you tried holding down the Alt (Opt) key while clicking the style name to remove overrides?), try exporting to .inx and open that, then save as a new .indd.

AS3: organized text blocks

I have a problem regarding text appearence on screen.
I have few TFL dynamic text fields in CS5.5 that update each time according to users choises (a dictionary, in hebrew if it matters).
As a text field I can't break lines or organize the text in paragraphs or any other way, the corrent situation is a text block that is not pleasent to read, it's need to be organized (it's for children so it has to be as clear as possible).
I used + '\n' + and it worked with a test file but it didn't on my real project. When testing it throws "can not assign a non refernec value : Erroe 1050".
I am desperet! is there a way to orgenize my text as a dynamic text field? or is there another way?
Any help will be really apprecieted.

I don't have a new enough version to test that with TLF textfields, but using a normal textfield the code tests fine.
If you are adding that text all at once using code, then you should keep it on one line just to be safe, though it should work separated. And you can use doublequotes around all portions of it, no need for single quotes around \n's.
If you are adding it in stages, you should use the appendText() method.
Since the error is indicating something cannot be assigned to the textfield, it would seem that there is something amiss with the textfield, so you might try placing: trace(elderText); one line before to see if it indicates it is recognized as a TLFTextField.

Premiere Elements 11 trial version for macMac computer photos uploaded to the timeline just finetrying to make a new title, streaming or in a framedouble clicked on the text in the box and nothing shows up when I type on my keyboard. I can delete the words that are there but not type in new ones. I selected the type and size, etc.

Joanne Murray J2 What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what operating system (including 32 or 64 bit) is your Premiere Elements installed? Forgive the questions if you have been there and done that, but I do not want to take anything for granted that might hinder a speedy resolution to your issue. Are you opening an already created title that is sitting on the Timeline in order to edit it in the Titler or are you trying to create a new Title (Default Text or other)? Do you know how to work with the Selection Tool and Type Tool in the Titler? Once I know what version of Premiere Elements that you are using, I will give you specific how to details. Thanks. ATR

Displaying a multi-line text block in an ALV grid cell

Can I display a multi-line text block (i.e. a paragraph of text) in an ALV grid cell?
If yes, what properties do I set in the Field Catalaog (I tried the style and that didnt seem to work)

By default ALV Grid merges fields with same values vertically.
Isn't that only when the column is part of the sort key? You also have to consider the user changing the sort sequence, which can make the text jumbled up. In one of my reports I have made the cell a hotspot and displayed the text in a popup. Of course you cannot print it.

Call/text blocking

does anyone know what Verizon message is seen by the owner of a number who has attempted calling and /or texting but have been placed on call/text block. And is there a way find out if these blocked numbers have attempted to contact you

Unwanted calls can be very frustating! There is not a way to see if a blocked number has tried to call or message you. If the blocked number is a VZW customer, they will see a red X in the sent folder with status failed notification. Followed by "Delivery failed. Invalid destination or service blocked at destination". They will also receives a text message alert - "You cannot send messages to destinations that are blocked by the account owner." If a block non VZW customers attempts to send you a message, they will see a green check mark with a "Message Sent" notification but message not delivered to your line.
Addtionally if a block VZW or non VZW number attempts to call you: Call does not go through. The blocked line hears an audio alert " The number that you have dialed has calling restrictions that have prevented the completion of this call. I am confident this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

- Why is it so easy to create stories, but you cannot group all them together for a simple PLAY all scenario, surely it can be done? I am about to give scripting a shot but seriously it looks way to confusing compared to stories, I have several sub menus and in each sub menu I have a play all story, however what I also want to do is create a PLAY ALL from the main menu, any suggestions

Duplicate all your stories, have a menu item with duplicate story 1 as the target, and set the end jump of duplicate story 1 to duplicate story 2, etc. Shouldn't that work? There may be a simpler way, but
As far as adding documents, The simplest way is to build in dvdsp and then add a folder containing the docs to the project folder that dvdsp has created and use toast to burn it. There may be a rule for naming this folder, but can't remember it at the moment.

In addition to the VIDEO_TS or HVDVD_TS folder, there are other items that can be part of the format process:
A folder specified by the DVD-ROM content setting
DVD@CCESS Installers
You can change or set the folder to use for DVD-ROM content either when specifying the preformat settings or while configuring the format process. The DVD@CCESS Installers are included if the project used DVD@CCESS links and the Embed Text Data checkbox in the Disc Inspector is selected. See DVD@CCESS for more information on DVD@CCESS.

I used to be able to drag jpgs and gifs into the text block

I used to be able to drag pics and animated gifs into my text block and now I cannot. Does anyone know why this is or how I can correct this? Version 3.5.1 Ichat
