Cannot change Colour within a picture

I have tried to change the colour of the sky in a picture, the origianl sky is a washed out white due to poor weather conditions.
I have used the colour picker in the adjustmentstab and when i try to sample the origianl sky is comes up with a Hue of 0 and the main colour is RED ???
and also i cannot change this colour, what am i doing wrong?
Thanks
John

Hi John.
I will happily be corrected, but the information you're getting from Ir. Bob is misleading.
Aperture is an image development program.  One of it's core design principles is that it doesn't add data to an image -- it takes the existing data and adjusts it.  This is why there is no "editing" in Aperture.  In Aperture, one makes "adjustments".
Those adjustments (almost) all follow this pattern:
original pixel values * adjustment parameter = adjusted pixel value
The original pixel value for your sky is, apparently, red.  This happened when you took the photograph.  You have, in photography parlance, "blown the highlights"  This isn't the forum to explain that, but you will most certainly want to research what that means and how to avoid it in the future.
Blown highlights can sometimes be recovered from the RAW data using the "Recovery" slider in the Exposure Brick.
From what you say, I don't think this will work for your image.
Since your highlights are blown, you will want to add blue to the image.  That kind of operation is not done with Aperture.  You will need to use a Graphics Editing package (such as Photoshop or any of the free or inexpensive programs like it).  Graphics Editors combine graphics elements.  They allow you to add data to images.
My reply covers a lot of basic concepts.  I strongly suggest some books or a course on photography as you move forward with Aperture.
Good Luck.

  • Find My MacBook - changed password, cannot change back within a year

    Hi,
My MacBook Air was stolen, and being security conscious, I changed my iCloud password. I now realise that I had enabled Find My MacBook, and I can see my Air there (although the thief has already changed the name!). However, it can't be located because the password is now changed, and I can't change my password back to what it was because you cannot reuse a password within a year.
Is there any way I can circumvent this password constraint so I can restore my old password and possibly locate the MacBook?
    Tim

    > now I have to press the Fn key to use any special functions
This means that Special Function key mode is disabled.
You can enable this within the BIOS or within the Toshiba System settings (HWSetup)
To access the BIOS you have to press F2 while booting up the unit.

  • Installed osx snow leapord, and now i cannot change background

I recently updated my computer to Mac OS X Snow Leopard which caused several things to happen.  #1 I cannot change the Desktop background picture.  #2 Programs i have deleted keep showing up in the Dock after restart, even though i keep deleting the dock items.  #3 Other programs i have installed (Quickbooks) wont stay in the dock.

Have you tried repairing your Home Folder's Permissions?
    to do this:
boot to the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Disk.
    chose your language.
    go to the menu bar
    click on the Utilities Menu
    chose reset password Utility
    when reset password utility opens
chose your build in hard drive
    select your user account
then click on the button "Repair Home Folder Permissions"
    Quit Reset Password Utility
    Quit the installer
chose the built in hard drive as the drive to boot too
when the computer reboots, you can try removing and adding items to the dock, then log out and back in to verify the changes to the dock were saved.

  • Cannot change account picture after upgrading to Mountain Lion.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard I cannot change account picture anymore.
The box which is supposed to contain picture previews just says "No items".
    Screenshot attached:
This is not limited to a particular account, trying to change the picture within any account leads to this problem.
Is there any solution for the issue?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for the answer.
Sure I can drag a photo to the users profile and it works but those Default ones were quite useful for having no mess with setting custom picture.
MacBook Pro with same Snow Leopard -> Mountain Lion upgrade did not have such issue.

  • Cannot change size of picture (in Ko) when saving with Preview

    Hello all,
    I need your help please.
When I modify a picture with Preview, like resize it for example, then I want to save the picture, I cannot change the size in Ko like I used to be able to with Snow Leopard.
Before, in the "Save as" menu, there was an arrow to decrease or increase the "weight" in Ko of the picture. This arrow is still there, but it does not show the number of the actual weight of the picture anymore (is it 400 ko, or 500 ko, or 600 ko, etc...).
Anyone has the same problem ?

I tried the steps you mentioned and found that this issue is also present in Previous versions as in PSE 10 also.
I will suggest you to check "Convert Files to" check box and then select "JPEG Max Quality" from corresponding drop down in order to maintain the quality of your JPEG image.
You can do it specially in case you are processing JPEG files and your image quality will remain same.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Cannot Change Desktop Picture Anymore

    Hi -
Problem is described in the Header. And goes for ALL accounts incl. ROOT Account.
Scenario: I open Sys Pref. Go to Desktop/ScreenSaver - it opens fine and I can click the images. They will even show in the little preview window in the top. The only thing NOT changing is the Actual Desktop. It remains Solid Blue.
Tried deleting Finder, desktop, .globalpref( in both pref folders) - Preferences
    Any Ideas ?

    HELP!
    Have you done your homework?
Run DU, check/repair HD and permissions.
If that does not work, move following .plists to desktop; let system create new plists
    try this one first:
    com.apple.desktop.plist
reboot and see if this fixes it.
if not then move this one to desktop and repeat
    com.apple.desktopscreensaver.rsspictures.plist
    report back here with results.

  • Video tutorial on changing the colour within a clip on Pr CC

    Evening again,
Please, would someone help me. The other day I watched a clip narrated by a women who took you through how to change the colour within a clip using a scene from someone surfing - turning the murky water into a deep blue colour.
I'm dearly trying to find it but to no avail, can anyone point me in the right direction. I've searched using many terms.
    Thanks
    Ashley

    Hi Ashley,
You're talking about changing one color within a scene? That's secondary color correction. Here is a tutorial for you:

  • Cannot change desktop background picture to my own photos

Hi, in desktop & screen saver I cannot change the desktop background image to any of my own (iphoto) pictures, it shows the list of the images and thumbnails but will only change the pic to the 'Apple' ones (nature, plants, black & white, abstract), if I select any of my photos under 'iphoto albums' the desktop image simply turns light blue.

    Hi.
I'm seeing what seems to be the exact same problem you described. Were you able to figure it out and fix it? I don't see a solution posted.
    Thanks.

You can't go to System Preferences>Desktop&Screen Savers and change the display? Try it and see. I've never seen that problem.

  • TS3899 Help! I cannot access my settings and facebook settings within 'Settings'. This means I cannot change passwords, delete or add email accounts.  I've tried updating and restoring my phone but to no avail.  Can anyone help me please?

Can anyone help please? I cannot access my email account settings within 'Settings', so I cannot change my details for existing email accounts, nor can I delete them or add others.
I can't access my Facebook settings within 'Settings' either but when I try to use the app it asks me to enter my password into my Facebook account in settings, but I can't do that either.
I've updated my software, restored and backed up my phone but it still doesn't work.  Troubleshooting doesn't cover this.

Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. Do you have restrictions on? If so, that would prevent you from making changes in some areas of the iPhone.

Did you update iWork after you installed it? It is now at version 4.3 and it sounds like you have an older version, not updated for the Retina display.

I cannot change my lock screen, start screen and account picture on my windows 8 pro. my windows 8 pro is activated please please help me....

    Hi,
As you said, your system was activated.
So,I think this problem occurs when a required Registry key is missing in Windows 8. It might be deleted accidentally or intentionally by the user or it might be deleted by a 3rd party software.
I suggest you refer to the following article to see if the issue was resolved.

  • I cannot change any user account icons

I cannot change any user account icons. Under the Default icons it says "No Items". Any new users are set up with a tennis ball with no other options. In the initial set up, there were a lot of choices. Now they're gone. It there a missing file?

Yes the missing user icons is unexplained and nothing I've tried has resolved it.
It seems to have occurred as part of the 10.8.2 update for me.
No user shows any of the default or custom user icons available in the users system preference. All the Apple icons are present in the /Library/User Icons folder as well as custom icons but they do not appear within the system's panel period. No icons appear there. You are able to add icons to it -per user. Any done in this manner are saved in that user's preferences so this does not affect the system level. I have tried removing preferences. I have tried removing the icons and adding them back including as root but all changes are applied to the user only. I have run Diskwarrior, repaired permissions, etc. And nothing changes this.
I cloned the image to another laptop, deleted all preferences from main library, restarted, logged in expecting it to be a preference issue. Still no user pictures shown for default user. In case the original users were corrupt, I created a new user and logged in with it. It was given one of the OSX pictures randomly chosen by the system. I logged in as user and still no pictures are shown. Tried to do a reinstall of 10.8.2 combo update and system refuses saying I cannot be done. Booted from recovery partition and it  allowed an internet recovery.
No change. Took a brand new laptop and used user migration to copy the users over to it with all settings. Broke that system as well. Repeated creating new users, etc and no change. This is really annoying. I can repeat migrating users only and then partial settings to try to narrow it down but its time consuming.
