Cannot change command and control button

in the past I've been able to switch the command and control buttons from system preferences. I recently connected a new Microsoft keyboard to my mac mini, and when I change the command and control button the same way I did before, it has no affect. The command and control keys have their default action. Is there a way to over ride this?

I did on Lenono brand windows keyboard and it works, but when I try a Microsoft brand windows keyboard, it doesnt work.

It may well be a driver issue but considering the loading: Xorg trying to load different drivers is somewhat normal. @cafe you can see that these are autoconfigured by X above the loading in the log:

Firstly, what is the source of the 10.6.4 disc? Is it the original installation disc for your MacBook, or one 'borrowed' from another computer?
It isn't the retail version, because that's 10.6.3.
Assuming it's the correct disc (i.e. the one that shipped with your Mac), you need to boot from it again.
OK the language page.
From the installer screen, ignore the continue button, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.).
Run Repair Disk. If that comes up as disk OK, click the partition tab. Select the partiton from the drop-down above the graphic; 1 partiton is all you need.
Go to the options button and ensure that the partition scheme is GUID and the file system to Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Name the partiton (usually Macintosh HD), click Apply.
When the Macintosh HD volume appears below the drive name, quit DU and see if you can then install.
If the screen after the language screen doesn't show the menu bar, it may be necessary to use another Mac to do the job with the MB in Firewire Target Disc Mode. If it won't boot in TDM, or the MB doesn't have FireWire then it's getting very difficult.

Mac shuts down if I do not keep either the Fn, Command or control button held down ?

Hi. I have a mac book pro late 2011 model. I am running Mavericks but but I have a problem where my mac shuts down if I do not keep either the Fn, Command or control button held down. Also if/when this shut down happens I need to hold the shift-control-option keys to restart the mac.
Anybody got any advice for me ?

Tab and control buttons do not work in Firefox (they work in other browsers) AND I switched to a new keyboard.

The tab and control buttons are not working the Firefox browser (My browser is up-to-date). The buttons work in IE and Chrome, however, before I realized that, I even switched out my keyboard to a brand new one hoping it would solve the issue.

Thank you--there were a few random extensions I had not added (spyware, maybe?). Once I removed those the issue was fixed!

How to remap keyboard - Looking to switch the "fn" and "control" buttons?

Hi I was looking for a way to switch the function and control on the bottom left side of the keyboard on my macbook pro laptop. I am used to the control button being the button that is furthest to the left and its just really throwing me off having the fn key all the way to the left. Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
* Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
* Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
* Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
* Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.

OSX 10.5.8- cannot change date and time. Have changed pram battery, still have spinning rainbow dot.

I have an older Powermac G5 dual PPC processor with OSX 5.8 (Leopard) on it. I cannot change the date and time, all I get is the spinning rainbow disc and the prefs have to be shut down. Does anyone know how to get this back on track? Thanks in advance!

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

Cannot change song and artist name???

After the update to iTunes 12.0.1 I cannot change the song names or info. I can look at it but it will not let my type it in. I have some songs that are missing information and would like to edit them so that I have the artist name and song title. Help?

Satellite U400: Need Vista install order and Control buttons don't work

I bought an Satellite U400-11T model with french windows Vista.
I want to change the french Vista to hungarian Vista.
Of course I bought a legal vista HUN and downloaded the drivers etc.
I am interrested in about the install order called installation instruction like at the XP models.
My second problem is; I have already installed the new Vista HUN and the 6 easy key touch buttons don't work anymore.
Where can I switch on it or wich program must i reinstall?

Cannot change tools and cannot use selection or crop tools

I am using Photoshop Extended CS6. A new problem has started to occur recently. I can select a tool, but I can't change the tool type. For example, I can select the Lasso Tool and when I right-click the tool fly-out appears, but I cannot select a tool from the fly-out to change the tool type. The editing tools, at least the ones I can select, still work except for the selection and crop tools. For the crop tool, the crop lines appear at the edge of the image but they cannot be moved. For the selection tools, nothing is selected. I can still use menu commands such as Canvas Size.
This happens when I open a file or start a new file. I have Windows 7, 4G memory and nothing else running. I have tried 32-bt and 64-bit versions.
This has happened intermittently for a month or two. In the past, freeing up space on a hard drive seemed to help. But now I have 50G free on one drive and 30G free on another so I don't see how that could be the problem. Rebooting allows me to use the crop tool once, but then the problem reoccurs.
Ideas, anyone?

No keyboard macro programs installed. Microsoft Security Essentials is installed. It says it is up to date and there are no problems. A keyboard test program found no problems. I have tried two USB keyboards with the same results I have 10% free on my system drive: and 15% free on my second drive.
More clues:
If I open Photoshop by opening a file, the problem immediately occurs. If I open Photoshop and then open a file, it works until I press a key as described above.
The problem only occurs in Photoshop. I’ve tried lots of other programs, including Premiere, Audition and Illustrator; they all work correctly.
The problem can occur without a keyboard attached. As I described above, if I switch to another application (Windows Explorer in my test) and then switch back, the problem occurs. This is true even if there is no internal keyboard and no USB keyboard.

When I want to zoom in or zoom out with the mouse wheel and CONTROL button the letters get larger but remain within the same size paragraph and any pictures remain the same. I want the entire page to zoom.

It is indeed scandalous that Apple sells useless scanned music scores. There is a warning when you chose to download music tabs or notes but it doesn't say that the score lines are very small and cannot be zoomed. I spent $30 on two books but cannot really use them on my MBA as you cannot zoom except for the double click which only works page per page and is only a small improvement.
The only way I can use the score more or less is on my ipad in landscape mode by increasing the font size to the max. The music score then becomes wider and you can read 2-3 lines per page without glasses.
If you could transfer the file to the pdf "side" of the library in ibooks the zoom would work..
What does work is using the accessibility zoom mode option+command+= to zoom and then option+command+\ to smooth the picture but then your whole display desktop etc. are zoomed in.

Minimisation and controlling button clicks in swings

I had some problem in swings.
Here I am giving my problem in detail.
1st ......
On one window named as "Main Screen" contains two buttons.
Say Button1 and Button2.
By clicking on Button1 another window will be opened named as "Sub Screen1".
By clicking on Button2 another window will be opened named as "Sub Screen2".
I need clarifaction on minimisation.
If I minimise my main window "Main Screen" all windows which are opened have to be minimised.
What I mean is if Main window is minimised all subwindows are also to be minimised.
2nd ........
When Button1 window "Sub Screen1" is opened by clicking again on Button1 another window is opening.
How to control the next click until the first have to close.
If any one will have any idea please give reply as soon as possible.

I assume you are using JFrames in your app.
You could use the Windowiconified method for your MainScreen and call SubScreen1.setState(Frame.ICONIFIED) and SubScreen2.setState(Frame.ICONIFIED). When you have pressed Button1 the instance of SubScreen1 is not null so you can do sth like this:Button1_actionPerformed(ActionEvent e()){

SubScreen1 = new Frame(..);// or new SubScreen()
else
SubScreen1.setvisible(true);

if you would like to change the login page, this is no longer on the template possible. Please use
HTM_LOGIN in class CL_SRM_ICF_BASIC_LOGIN. See OSS note 778488.
You must upload new image in se80 -> internet services -> bbpglobal into MIMES,
then go to eg. login.html and change sap image to yours.
(don't forget to publish services after upload)

X230t and Windows 8 - tablet rotate and control buttons don't work

I am the proud owner of a new x230 tablet and I couldn't resist the tempation to load up Windows 8 on it. Overall I have found the operating system to work fairly well on the system as installed "out of the box"; however, I have noticed that when the computer is put in tablet mode the screen doesn't rotate, even if the rotate hardware button is pressed. Has anyone else encountered this and if so is there a solution other then waiting for the official release of the operating system and windows 8 certified drivers.
